00:00:10   thirty [TS]

00:00:12   it's 215 episode of the uncomfortable [TS]

00:00:15   and this is where I called my panelists [TS]

00:00:19   in for their there every hundred and [TS]

00:00:22   fifty episodes performance review [TS]

00:00:24   I'm going to be telling you what [TS]

00:00:27   happened when you met and and [TS]

00:00:29   expectations and where you fell down and [TS]

00:00:31   did not meet my expectations and [TS]

00:00:33   disappoint some of us will get a rose [TS]

00:00:35   others will not [TS]

00:00:36   yeah that's right i'm gonna need another [TS]

00:00:37   six-pack a few of you will will be asked [TS]

00:00:41   to leave the island immediately [TS]

00:00:43   that's just how it has to be so I am of [TS]

00:00:46   course your host for most of these [TS]

00:00:49   hundred fifty episodes Jason Snelling [TS]

00:00:50   let me detail the panel who is here with [TS]

00:00:52   us to go through your feedback we don't [TS]

00:00:55   do that usually on the episodes and I [TS]

00:00:58   get into the reasons why in a little [TS]

00:00:59   while but first let me introduce my [TS]

00:01:01   panel you heard most of them complaining [TS]

00:01:04   but when i was reading the introduction [TS]

00:01:05   because they're rude and that will be [TS]

00:01:07   noted on their next evaluation Steve [TS]

00:01:10   let's hear hi Steve [TS]

00:01:12   hey Jason how are you I'm expecting [TS]

00:01:14   nothing but glowing commentary from you [TS]

00:01:16   and anybody else [TS]

00:01:17   yeah there might be to eat it later [TS]

00:01:19   that's all I'm saying whether there will [TS]

00:01:21   be some ETA by agencies trying to happen [TS]

00:01:24   you just don't forget about the pictures [TS]

00:01:26   yes thanks good point oh yes Steve [TS]

00:01:30   you're great you're doing a fabulous job [TS]

00:01:31   yeah don't syracuse also here hi john [TS]

00:01:34   mason if you give me anything less than [TS]

00:01:36   tens on every single item [TS]

00:01:39   they're going to kill my family I've [TS]

00:01:43   heard this before [TS]

00:01:44   uh when i bought the car Dan Morgan is [TS]

00:01:47   also here hi dan I i think i got my [TS]

00:01:49   feedback when my when when Steve let my [TS]

00:01:52   D&D character died [TS]

00:01:53   yes I think that's how i'm taking my [TS]

00:01:54   feedback wait wait I didn't let your D&D [TS]

00:01:57   character died I guess I kind of did [TS]

00:01:59   yeah sorry did we remember things [TS]

00:02:02   differently that [TS]

00:02:03   yeah that Voice you heard is serenity [TS]

00:02:04   caldwell who's also here thank you [TS]

00:02:06   hello hello I i will sit quietly in the [TS]

00:02:10   corner [TS]

00:02:11   prepare to be judged yes no the judging [TS]

00:02:13   know the judging will happen on this [TS]

00:02:14   side this side o prepared to judge then [TS]

00:02:17   asks be prepared [TS]

00:02:19   you're on that side of the judge's table [TS]

00:02:20   for once plate playing the part of the [TS]

00:02:22   East German judge is serenity Caldwell [TS]

00:02:24   and next to her [TS]

00:02:26   the also also from East Germany it's got [TS]

00:02:30   Mykelti hi Scott [TS]

00:02:32   uh hello I'm trying to think of [TS]

00:02:34   something in German but i'm not going so [TS]

00:02:35   I I froze talk about just talk about [TS]

00:02:38   Hitler Scott come on that's not yeah is [TS]

00:02:42   that the feedback that my family didn't [TS]

00:02:44   let him watch him too many not enough [TS]

00:02:46   supplements too much Hitler ironically [TS]

00:02:48   Zeppelin's also German but you know [TS]

00:02:51   yeah and that voice saying things in [TS]

00:02:53   German is Glenn fleischmann hi Glenn [TS]

00:02:55   I brought a note from my Twitter [TS]

00:02:57   followers excusing me for previous [TS]

00:02:59   absences and I hope that will be [TS]

00:03:00   reflected in my permanent record [TS]

00:03:02   where have you been clan I where have [TS]

00:03:05   you been Steve when I did right here man [TS]

00:03:08   how many men have you killed Steve you [TS]

00:03:10   can't it's classified glam you know that [TS]

00:03:12   it's true we said too much already [TS]

00:03:14   ok so we don't do now John siracusa is [TS]

00:03:19   here on this on this very podcast and of [TS]

00:03:22   course listeners to his his other [TS]

00:03:24   podcasts and podcasting previously [TS]

00:03:26   didnĂt know that he took a lot of time [TS]

00:03:28   to devote to reader feedback listener [TS]

00:03:31   feedback whatever you are audience [TS]

00:03:33   feedback and we don't do that so much of [TS]

00:03:36   the uncomfortable and before we go into [TS]

00:03:38   some of the feedback we have gotten I [TS]

00:03:39   wanted to explain why the big reason is [TS]

00:03:41   because we have such a large panel and [TS]

00:03:42   we rotate different people through [TS]

00:03:44   different episodes and also because we [TS]

00:03:46   sometimes will record stuff in a dance [TS]

00:03:48   and play it back out of sequence it's [TS]

00:03:51   often really difficult to have any [TS]

00:03:53   synchronization of feedback with the [TS]

00:03:57   people who actually were on the episodes [TS]

00:03:59   that you're giving feedback for and my [TS]

00:04:02   example is if you're complaining about [TS]

00:04:04   something that lets say Glenn said on a [TS]

00:04:08   book club episode as if glenwood read a [TS]

00:04:12   book uh and what I'm on about i'm on the [TS]

00:04:15   comic book club with Lisa Schmeisser and [TS]

00:04:18   Moises shoot too jaan we did they don't [TS]

00:04:22   want to hear about Glenn and they have [TS]

00:04:23   nothing to say to explain Glenn so I [TS]

00:04:27   don't know one also would have to [TS]

00:04:29   actually receive feedback [TS]

00:04:31   well we do it we received some feedback [TS]

00:04:32   and I'm sure if we we processed it in [TS]

00:04:35   every episode we would receive more you [TS]

00:04:37   have the other thing is that i like [TS]

00:04:38   having these episodes [TS]

00:04:40   be very standalone so that you can do is [TS]

00:04:42   one of our listeners did recently [TS]

00:04:44   Benjamin peacock who wrote to us on [TS]

00:04:48   Twitter will start the feedback this way [TS]

00:04:50   who said through diligence I've caught [TS]

00:04:52   up on from the beginning of the [TS]

00:04:54   incomparable and now i feel like a piece [TS]

00:04:56   of me is missing see you can go back to [TS]

00:04:58   the beginning and listen to every [TS]

00:04:59   episode study it make it a part of your [TS]

00:05:01   being and engine that that was your [TS]

00:05:04   sanity and it was gone before you [TS]

00:05:06   started and I feel like if the feedbacks [TS]

00:05:07   at the beginning of the episodes then [TS]

00:05:09   then you're maybe you can't just kind of [TS]

00:05:11   drop in and listen to the episode that [TS]

00:05:12   interest you so but we could do it at [TS]

00:05:15   the end and I think about doing that [TS]

00:05:17   sometimes and then we talked for an hour [TS]

00:05:18   and a half and I figure we don't have [TS]

00:05:20   any time for feedback so once we don't [TS]

00:05:22   care what Scott doesn't kidnap me only [TS]

00:05:26   the not caring yes God doesn't dozens it [TS]

00:05:29   isn't interested in what other people [TS]

00:05:30   have to say that's on your your your [TS]

00:05:32   chart here Scott doesn't bother me [TS]

00:05:34   yeah alright so let me let me go through [TS]

00:05:38   some of the twitter feed back we do get [TS]

00:05:40   feedback on Twitter and this of course [TS]

00:05:44   the incomparable is our twitter account [TS]

00:05:46   and here are some of the comments we had [TS]

00:05:49   Sergio Andres castro simply said more [TS]

00:05:52   siracusa John you have more to give [TS]

00:05:56   I got give what i have to give i mean i [TS]

00:05:59   don't i don't understand how they could [TS]

00:06:00   possibly be more neon podcast at this [TS]

00:06:03   point you have to read more [TS]

00:06:04   thousand-page books more than like three [TS]

00:06:06   of them a year to be on we already have [TS]

00:06:08   two Syracuse's do you really need more [TS]

00:06:10   hey was that John R daniel said that [TS]

00:06:13   more & M terrible it's terrible and [TS]

00:06:18   account no I'm just saying I was a [TS]

00:06:19   mystery story i was actually a Dan level [TS]

00:06:21   pun so i think here i'm still my god we [TS]

00:06:23   have murdered [TS]

00:06:24   what uh here's a good one from adam [TS]

00:06:28   highland also known as the real proton k [TS]

00:06:31   or as i like to say the real pro tunc [TS]

00:06:33   he's not an amateur talk Jason he's a [TS]

00:06:35   proton this is this is a good one it [TS]

00:06:38   says can we have another Jason reads [TS]

00:06:41   Twitter comments and affo stern mocking [TS]

00:06:44   voice within the incomparable those are [TS]

00:06:47   hilarious [TS]

00:06:48   to which I say no we can't now couldn't [TS]

00:06:51   afford it i'm working for this year [TS]

00:06:53   though we don't want to do that Joe [TS]

00:06:56   rosenstiel says that surround me the [TS]

00:06:59   only game i saw Fletch that's not a real [TS]

00:07:02   you know it's bert Harbinson and art [TS]

00:07:04   vandelay is coming up [TS]

00:07:06   he says you guys are great that's [TS]

00:07:08   feedback thank you and I would like more [TS]

00:07:10   nostalgic shows about old star trek [TS]

00:07:12   Babylon 5 I assume you mean star trek [TS]

00:07:15   Babylon 5 and thatthat's just misplaced [TS]

00:07:17   island off of evidence battle on phone [TS]

00:07:19   and other eighties and nineties syfy how [TS]

00:07:21   about instead more nostalgia episodes [TS]

00:07:24   about previous episodes in common that's [TS]

00:07:26   gonna remember when he picks Skeletor [TS]

00:07:28   good times [TS]

00:07:29   everyone's good was good we should we [TS]

00:07:31   should playing back into the violence [TS]

00:07:33   huh [TS]

00:07:34   the clip show where Steve remembered [TS]

00:07:36   when he placed yet thanks for the [TS]

00:07:40   preview of next year's Christmas tree [TS]

00:07:41   every clip here whatever i remember that [TS]

00:07:43   i remember next year's episode it was [TS]

00:07:45   really going to be going was gonna be [TS]

00:07:46   good too bad we we screwed up i think [TS]

00:07:49   this is a good idea [TS]

00:07:51   nostalgia you know I think one of the [TS]

00:07:52   things we do really well as is talking [TS]

00:07:54   about stuff from from the past I've got [TS]

00:07:56   some on the schedule I've been [TS]

00:07:57   threatening to do a Babylon 5 episode [TS]

00:07:59   for a while now we should do to deep [TS]

00:08:00   space 9 at some point for sure I'd like [TS]

00:08:03   to go back and revisit the x-files which [TS]

00:08:05   is having its 20th anniversary [TS]

00:08:08   believe it or not and what they're doing [TS]

00:08:10   a big thing at comic-con this with this [TS]

00:08:14   weekend I'm amazed that it's been 20 [TS]

00:08:16   years and I still haven't seen an [TS]

00:08:17   episode of the x-files over the transom [TS]

00:08:19   true i bought you an episode of the [TS]

00:08:21   x-files didn't tell me you watched that [TS]

00:08:22   episode [TS]

00:08:23   sure yeah Dan the truth comes out good [TS]

00:08:29   that's a good episode yeah it's just s [TS]

00:08:31   going on your own [TS]

00:08:32   valuation you have room in your life for [TS]

00:08:33   supernatural but not for the x y&z yet [TS]

00:08:36   and yet and yet i have seen the movie so [TS]

00:08:39   Dan Morris down is not watching shows [TS]

00:08:42   that that he he should watch shame [TS]

00:08:44   friend dan's lexus lexus is revealed [TS]

00:08:48   bit by bit of this past several months [TS]

00:08:50   there they're doing a very sort of brain [TS]

00:08:52   transfer that's two or three years maybe [TS]

00:08:56   I could aab brian sullivan wrote in on [TS]

00:09:00   twitter that he was loving the dnd [TS]

00:09:02   episodes and asked if there were any [TS]

00:09:04   more planned we got we got some feedback [TS]

00:09:07   there was one guy who wrote him I [TS]

00:09:08   couldn't find the tweet he basically [TS]

00:09:09   said that that that that he hated the [TS]

00:09:12   dnd episodes and they were and he was [TS]

00:09:14   very much like why are you wasting my [TS]

00:09:16   time with this and I i was a long lines [TS]

00:09:18   of three more hours of D&D really yeah [TS]

00:09:21   it did you have to and my response was [TS]

00:09:23   this one my standard response we did you [TS]

00:09:25   get a full refund for what you paid for [TS]

00:09:27   the podcast was traveling and and and [TS]

00:09:29   you know and and to was a week where [TS]

00:09:32   there was literally not going to be an [TS]

00:09:33   episode so well and three were really [TS]

00:09:36   sorry about the people who strap you [TS]

00:09:37   down and made you listen to three hours [TS]

00:09:39   until i get me haul and should call the [TS]

00:09:41   police on those people the eyelid [TS]

00:09:43   toothpicks are really painful they are [TS]

00:09:45   part of the service and style are we [TS]

00:09:48   going to do more D&D yes because I'm [TS]

00:09:52   some way I think it's a lot of fun and I [TS]

00:09:54   think I don't speak for everyone but i'm [TS]

00:09:55   going to everybody seems everybody like [TS]

00:09:58   this and help and I we've got a [TS]

00:10:02   surprising amount of people who actually [TS]

00:10:04   enjoy listening last watching the DFCS [TS]

00:10:07   what's surprising money more than Jason [TS]

00:10:10   I have something I have some feedback [TS]

00:10:12   what is wrong with these people [TS]

00:10:14   I'm amazed that people love the dnd [TS]

00:10:16   episodes too but they seem to and I'm [TS]

00:10:18   glad which is why we've always sort of [TS]

00:10:20   thought of those extras because it was [TS]

00:10:22   an experiment to see what if we played [TS]

00:10:24   D&D together and the edited podcast [TS]

00:10:28   episodes i think you're a little bit [TS]

00:10:29   better we do some compression they're [TS]

00:10:30   still really long but I pulled like half [TS]

00:10:32   an hour of stuff out of the last one and [TS]

00:10:35   it was a much you know it was a much [TS]

00:10:37   tighter kind of episode you it wasn't [TS]

00:10:39   there wasn't so much of that two minutes [TS]

00:10:41   of somebody figuring out which dice to [TS]

00:10:43   roll as [TS]

00:10:44   on the live stream but the unedited was [TS]

00:10:47   was was pitched as a bonus episode [TS]

00:10:49   anyway yeah it was the second that weeks [TS]

00:10:51   they're all they're all kind of bonus [TS]

00:10:52   episodes anyway but we will do more [TS]

00:10:54   right there's there's more to that [TS]

00:10:55   adventure and then there's we haven't [TS]

00:10:57   finished the adventure and you know if [TS]

00:10:59   if the the rest of the panelists want to [TS]

00:11:01   continue playing I'm happy to continue [TS]

00:11:03   DME but I hope we can have a text [TS]

00:11:06   episode to induce orc you know because i [TS]

00:11:08   think that would be good like the like a [TS]

00:11:10   book on tape [TS]

00:11:11   detective enter your amazing twisty [TS]

00:11:14   podcast all like all right let's go to [TS]

00:11:16   Anna and idea that be a great episode [TS]

00:11:21   and gee gee I I'm gonna be somebody [TS]

00:11:28   please buy the mouth [TS]

00:11:30   Yoho no that's a different adventure [TS]

00:11:33   xyzzy pick up pick up [TS]

00:11:37   yeah you have no t I Judson done says i [TS]

00:11:43   love your book podcast but you should [TS]

00:11:45   have fewer spoilers maybe none that [TS]

00:11:49   makes difficult to talk about them then [TS]

00:11:51   I could be on the book podcast without [TS]

00:11:52   having read the book [TS]

00:11:53   yeah we totally just talking about [TS]

00:11:55   invading it's an episode where we try to [TS]

00:11:57   convince john siracusa to read a book [TS]

00:11:58   without without spoiling it for me take [TS]

00:12:02   a look John anything that happens in the [TS]

00:12:03   book in 2004 we were talking on the [TS]

00:12:05   comic book club was a comic book club [TS]

00:12:08   that Merlin Merlin Mann was on the first [TS]

00:12:11   episode he was on anyway and we know [TS]

00:12:13   yeah i was the the house of them and I [TS]

00:12:14   got to the the ending we I mean we put [TS]

00:12:17   the spoiler warning about two minutes in [TS]

00:12:19   and he was a gas was like why you guys [TS]

00:12:20   jumped the spoilers fast here and I I [TS]

00:12:22   think that's always a question for us is [TS]

00:12:24   when do you [TS]

00:12:25   this is this the stuff we cover is [TS]

00:12:27   generally not you know we're not trying [TS]

00:12:32   to avoid details we want to talk about [TS]

00:12:35   the details that's kind of a level at [TS]

00:12:37   which we dig into stuff so it's really [TS]

00:12:38   hard to figure out window below the [TS]

00:12:41   spoiler horn and then honestly I always [TS]

00:12:42   feel like so what are you gonna do [TS]

00:12:43   you're gonna listen to 10 minutes of a [TS]

00:12:44   podcast event stop and come back weeks [TS]

00:12:47   later it is it's not a podcast very like [TS]

00:12:49   I need people to recommend me good [TS]

00:12:51   things that I should check out that's [TS]

00:12:52   this is for people who already seen [TS]

00:12:55   these things because they usually fairly [TS]

00:12:57   popular whatever and want to hear people [TS]

00:12:58   talk about them because they read them [TS]

00:13:00   or watch them or whatever it's not like [TS]

00:13:02   give me a list of things to read because [TS]

00:13:04   yeah but everything we talked about we [TS]

00:13:06   go we tell you everything about it's for [TS]

00:13:08   its for people who have already seen it [TS]

00:13:10   yeah i did I there was a good piece of [TS]

00:13:11   feedback that said at least let us know [TS]

00:13:13   if the thing you let you are talking [TS]

00:13:15   about is something you liked or not so [TS]

00:13:17   that we know whether we should bother to [TS]

00:13:19   like not listen and watch it or read [TS]

00:13:22   that we have to blow the spoiler horn [TS]

00:13:23   for the podcast itself and i think you [TS]

00:13:25   can pick up my beauty before the before [TS]

00:13:27   the spoils everything we're going to [TS]

00:13:29   tell you whether we liked the book or [TS]

00:13:30   not okay it's basically just entirely [TS]

00:13:32   spoiler or its this is the hypnotoad [TS]

00:13:34   episode of the incomparable two hundred [TS]

00:13:36   percent spoiler warning we have a very [TS]

00:13:38   some very nice feedback actually [TS]

00:13:39   happening live in our chat room which is [TS]

00:13:41   saying first off a request to blow the [TS]

00:13:44   spoiler horn during this section which i [TS]

00:13:46   think is gonna obviously happen [TS]

00:13:51   and then a lot of anti spoiler not not [TS]

00:13:55   anti spoilers anti the concept of being [TS]

00:13:58   afraid of spoilers and that you should [TS]

00:14:00   just get over it and and and cara cara [TS]

00:14:04   Healy says we have to fight the [TS]

00:14:05   gangrenous hold that no spoilers has on [TS]

00:14:07   our culture I I kind of money you know [TS]

00:14:09   you should be afraid of spoilers you [TS]

00:14:11   should have you should you should not be [TS]

00:14:13   listening to a podcast about a movie if [TS]

00:14:15   you haven't seen the movie with we could [TS]

00:14:17   do a compromise we could only review [TS]

00:14:19   things that are so bland and [TS]

00:14:20   uninteresting there's nothing to spoil [TS]

00:14:22   by spoiling them that would clearly work [TS]

00:14:25   and so let me marry is definitely some [TS]

00:14:27   properties that you can talk a lot about [TS]

00:14:29   without spoiling major parts of it but [TS]

00:14:32   the podcast be 15 minutes long [TS]

00:14:34   yeah and you what you want to get into [TS]

00:14:36   the nitty-gritty details like what did [TS]

00:14:38   you not like about it well when the guy [TS]

00:14:40   did thing and you like now we have to [TS]

00:14:42   actually say what he did and why we [TS]

00:14:44   didn't like it you have must my name yes [TS]

00:14:47   I guess like if it's if it's a horror [TS]

00:14:49   movie I understand not wanting or some [TS]

00:14:51   ridiculous you know crying game like [TS]

00:14:53   element you know or any M night [TS]

00:14:55   Shyamalan llama Shallon and shim sham [TS]

00:14:59   election shaming long he was dead the [TS]

00:15:02   entire time [TS]

00:15:03   Philadelphia's own Scott that's true i [TS]

00:15:06   walk through one of the sets one's [TS]

00:15:07   probably pages you have told that story [TS]

00:15:09   but how much work that we review that we [TS]

00:15:11   like it is it actually is the spoiler [TS]

00:15:14   horn part actually to spoil the [TS]

00:15:16   enjoyment of it does and the work how [TS]

00:15:18   does it stand up because you know this [TS]

00:15:19   boiler horn always ruins my enjoyment [TS]

00:15:21   thanks [TS]

00:15:25   you know there was that was that link [TS]

00:15:27   there was going around the edge of like [TS]

00:15:28   some studies showing that like well we [TS]

00:15:30   did this scientific study and people [TS]

00:15:32   knowing what was going to happen didn't [TS]

00:15:33   it didn't ruin their enjoyment and in [TS]

00:15:35   fact enhanced it slightly but i have [TS]

00:15:37   i've quibbles with that study and it you [TS]

00:15:39   know it's not because it's obviously [TS]

00:15:41   crap no one under the conditions they [TS]

00:15:44   tested its true but their conditions of [TS]

00:15:46   that we're talking about it like you [TS]

00:15:48   know popular movies or books or whatever [TS]

00:15:50   is different than the the I don't know [TS]

00:15:52   yeah also if you rely on people to [TS]

00:15:55   report how they feel about something [TS]

00:15:56   after the fact that itself is strange [TS]

00:15:58   right all i know is i feel i feel worse [TS]

00:16:01   when I know I was going to turn I have [TS]

00:16:02   time if I feel much better when I'm [TS]

00:16:04   pleasantly surprised and no one like him [TS]

00:16:06   like Game of Thrones I didn't know what [TS]

00:16:08   was going to happen at the end of this [TS]

00:16:09   current season and i'm glad you and I [TS]

00:16:11   feel like I enjoyed it more yeah but [TS]

00:16:13   John you would you would come if you [TS]

00:16:15   listen to if you're specifically seeking [TS]

00:16:16   out a show about a game of thrones and [TS]

00:16:19   it was about the current season you can [TS]

00:16:20   watch it you would not listen episode [TS]

00:16:22   right now I just because this episode is [TS]

00:16:24   incomparable that I still haven't [TS]

00:16:25   listened to because I say oh I might [TS]

00:16:27   want to i might want to check that out [TS]

00:16:28   so I don't saving them for after i read [TS]

00:16:31   it or what I think I think it is a [TS]

00:16:32   common incumbent upon the person who [TS]

00:16:34   wants to avoid the spoilers to actively [TS]

00:16:36   avoid them I'm not going to [TS]

00:16:38   yes no sense whether that's why the [TS]

00:16:40   spoiler horn he exists is that final [TS]

00:16:43   it's a free license agreement it's the [TS]

00:16:46   way okay we're gonna ruin things now so [TS]

00:16:48   you really are you sure you really [TS]

00:16:49   really sure that makes sense because [TS]

00:16:51   then everybody's click through it [TS]

00:16:52   without actually reading it exactly that [TS]

00:16:54   explains why they keep gates well [TS]

00:17:00   it's all the information you need but [TS]

00:17:02   whatever brandon minutes set just sent a [TS]

00:17:05   tweet that said well I love the drafts [TS]

00:17:07   we need to do a villains draft [TS]

00:17:09   yes villains don't get along though so [TS]

00:17:11   much so I don't know how we would do [TS]

00:17:13   that and still I don't know what I'm [TS]

00:17:15   saying someone like they got like a club [TS]

00:17:17   League of yeah but yeah they play poker [TS]

00:17:19   sometimes even going to create a leak [TS]

00:17:22   village in burien lion together and [TS]

00:17:24   wouldn't disintegrate a week or two [TS]

00:17:26   it's generally unity alright i'll put [TS]

00:17:28   that on the list we've got a lot of we [TS]

00:17:30   got some I've got a little list in the [TS]

00:17:31   back of my mind of various drafts we can [TS]

00:17:33   do i love the drafts 2 i'd like to do a [TS]

00:17:35   couple of drafts yes you can do the all [TS]

00:17:37   super intelligent 18 but not completely [TS]

00:17:39   my strategy yes the land is announcing a [TS]

00:17:41   new magazine for apes the senior girls [TS]

00:17:44   in a poorly for discriminating games [TS]

00:17:47   yeah well it comes out twice a year but [TS]

00:17:49   they're not there they're smart for apes [TS]

00:17:51   they don't notice because that is my [TS]

00:17:54   friends will be really pissed off when [TS]

00:17:56   they find it's been written by monkeys [TS]

00:17:58   along exactly haha ho-ho you bastard you [TS]

00:18:01   did it [TS]

00:18:01   they blew it up pierre-luc Kanye rights [TS]

00:18:06   who is your favorite member of the [TS]

00:18:08   incomparable crew now let's see some [TS]

00:18:10   heartbreak [TS]

00:18:11   Scott Scott doesn't care either way wait [TS]

00:18:14   this is also because we're all just [TS]

00:18:15   gonna name ourselves i think i think it [TS]

00:18:17   was meant for all of us [TS]

00:18:19   oh dear this is this is very partisan [TS]

00:18:21   will have to write the names down and [TS]

00:18:22   put them in a hat or something you know [TS]

00:18:23   my favorite Steve lots i'm sorry [TS]

00:18:25   everybody else he picks skillet or sony [TS]

00:18:28   20 that's two votes these lines wins the [TS]

00:18:31   microchip with you eat it Steve you can [TS]

00:18:39   pay me later see and it somebody writes [TS]

00:18:43   in to us every now and then Janice in [TS]

00:18:46   Georgia very nice note she says she [TS]

00:18:48   doesn't have enough geeky friends in [TS]

00:18:50   real life listening to the smart and [TS]

00:18:51   witty folks on the podcast helps fill [TS]

00:18:53   that void thanks so much and thank you [TS]

00:18:55   to Janice very nice thank you [TS]

00:18:58   well about void filling here yep Wow [TS]

00:19:06   i'm still gonna lose out to Stephen [TS]

00:19:08   favorite panel of thing but at least I'm [TS]

00:19:10   a clown laughs oh hey this might be one [TS]

00:19:11   of Glen are particularly bad that's [TS]

00:19:13   what's this [TS]

00:19:15   if you get it right spontaneous labor [TS]

00:19:18   what's that what's that what's that [TS]

00:19:21   all right here now i'm going to move on [TS]

00:19:24   to some emails that we got uh which this [TS]

00:19:29   this first email is is almost certainly [TS]

00:19:32   a fake haha it's a fake that will how [TS]

00:19:38   old are you people that you think 50 [TS]

00:19:40   years old and infirm I'm 46 and an [TS]

00:19:44   international competitor in Brazilian [TS]

00:19:46   jiu-jitsu and I reckon motorcycle from [TS]

00:19:48   New York to LA every other summer I [TS]

00:19:50   think 50 is near the peak of overall [TS]

00:19:52   competence and capability of one keeps [TS]

00:19:54   in shape than 25 is and how old is [TS]

00:19:56   Wolverine in the comics he's always [TS]

00:19:58   looked to be in his forties to me so I'm [TS]

00:20:00   not a current reader [TS]

00:20:01   okay i have 300 okay I have to go change [TS]

00:20:04   my depends adult diaper and take a nap [TS]

00:20:06   now [TS]

00:20:06   oh and I like that guy English I didn't [TS]

00:20:09   catch his first name i'm assuming Merlin [TS]

00:20:13   wrote that yeah it's possible he's 52 we [TS]

00:20:17   say something bad about old people I [TS]

00:20:19   didn't remember constantly but we [TS]

00:20:21   usually better selves not you young [TS]

00:20:23   person we did guy English in his orderly [TS]

00:20:25   young prince his appearance we I think [TS]

00:20:27   was when we we said something about old [TS]

00:20:29   people but we were we were gonna we were [TS]

00:20:31   being serious about it we were all my [TS]

00:20:33   feeling that 50 years old and infirm [TS]

00:20:35   came from our game show episode [TS]

00:20:37   wow we're Team old display feeling more [TS]

00:20:40   than be blessed as lost as a lost all [TS]

00:20:43   feeling in his extremities but he just [TS]

00:20:45   couldn't talk about just gel but [TS]

00:20:47   couldn't remember that resident yeah I'm [TS]

00:20:50   angry about something but hey remember [TS]

00:20:52   what is gonna lose my mute button on [TS]

00:20:54   skype % sure that wasn't a senior [TS]

00:20:58   moments leave i think i've tried restore [TS]

00:21:00   got and we talking about memory pills [TS]

00:21:04   and I was saying my dog my view that 50 [TS]

00:21:07   years old and infirm came from the game [TS]

00:21:09   show episode [TS]

00:21:10   oh yes you're going to die on hold yeah [TS]

00:21:12   your team wants to think and is it [TS]

00:21:15   definitively there that were old as my [TS]

00:21:17   point [TS]

00:21:17   yeah yeahs ago although some of that was [TS]

00:21:20   the clear ageism on display by the [TS]

00:21:21   judges yes whoohoo indeed would have [TS]

00:21:25   also been on Team old so funny how that [TS]

00:21:28   is self-loathing [TS]

00:21:29   yeah I guess so like I said we'll have [TS]

00:21:31   to do another game show episode 2 that's [TS]

00:21:32   another thing that people have asked for [TS]

00:21:34   that we should do [TS]

00:21:35   it's just a lot of work that's what my [TS]

00:21:37   part [TS]

00:21:39   dan dan if you want to invent a game [TS]

00:21:41   show episode that would how I i wanted [TS]

00:21:43   to do 14 for several years i'm just i'm [TS]

00:21:45   lazy [TS]

00:21:46   yeah see that's my problem we gotta find [TS]

00:21:48   some people in here who have initiative [TS]

00:21:50   and energy so before we go on I I i [TS]

00:21:54   actually did receive a few notes about [TS]

00:21:56   people who are very excited that we had [TS]

00:21:57   sponsors on the podcast because because [TS]

00:22:01   they they want to support our podcast [TS]

00:22:04   and they had no sponsors to support and [TS]

00:22:06   now they do have a few and segue into a [TS]

00:22:09   span and that's and that's why based on [TS]

00:22:12   your feedback i'd like to tell you again [TS]

00:22:14   about how great 23andme this and you [TS]

00:22:18   guys can help you help me out here 23 [TS]

00:22:19   me.com / incomparable is where you go [TS]

00:22:22   $99 DNA test kit you can find out if [TS]

00:22:25   you're related to Glenn now where's the [TS]

00:22:28   trees chances are everyone is related to [TS]

00:22:30   Glenn I i found actually a ton of [TS]

00:22:33   relations and people need to check out [TS]

00:22:34   ahead and login for a while they've [TS]

00:22:35   updated some things and they're like 50 [TS]

00:22:38   people find need to get back to and see [TS]

00:22:40   maybe second or third cousin silly fun [TS]

00:22:42   that's how we found out Glen was really [TS]

00:22:44   a dude right yeah guys are mad I spoiler [TS]

00:22:47   that science [TS]

00:22:50   yeah I found mine when I found a think [TS]

00:22:53   there's a second and third cousin that [TS]

00:22:55   they haven't responded to me yet but and [TS]

00:22:56   i found several third or fourth cousins [TS]

00:22:59   and lots of interesting information so [TS]

00:23:01   one of the things you can do is you can [TS]

00:23:02   see there's a relative finder that will [TS]

00:23:05   tell you you know these various people [TS]

00:23:06   who are your who your cousin's just [TS]

00:23:09   based entirely on a DNA match but then [TS]

00:23:10   there are places to put in like family [TS]

00:23:12   names and you can do a match search for [TS]

00:23:14   names that are in your family among your [TS]

00:23:16   relatives and then and then sort of [TS]

00:23:17   figure out how you're related [TS]

00:23:19   plus there are medical reports you can [TS]

00:23:22   get information about your what part of [TS]

00:23:25   the world your ancestry is from so for [TS]

00:23:27   me it's all it's all Europe for my for [TS]

00:23:30   my wife it's a half sort of like Western [TS]

00:23:33   European and half Ashkenazi which is [TS]

00:23:35   appropriate because your mother is [TS]

00:23:37   Jewish in her father's family is from [TS]

00:23:39   France so it makes perfect sense there's [TS]

00:23:43   there's medical stuff they do a lot of [TS]

00:23:44   surveys as I've railed about on this on [TS]

00:23:48   this podcast many times cilantro the [TS]

00:23:51   menace that infests all mexican food [TS]

00:23:54   cilantro is great but he doesn't the [TS]

00:23:56   worst and and you know why it's because [TS]

00:23:58   in my jeans make me hate cilantro it's [TS]

00:24:01   not it's not me Steve and Jason just how [TS]

00:24:04   much genetic material you have to [TS]

00:24:06   produce for this 23andme you know i'm [TS]

00:24:08   i'm glad you asked if there's a very [TS]

00:24:10   small tube that you have to spit in its [TS]

00:24:13   it's not a single lookie i would say [TS]

00:24:15   it's sort of like to Lucas worth is it a [TS]

00:24:18   series of two services just was just a [TS]

00:24:21   single tube and you spit in the tube and [TS]

00:24:23   then you close it up and mail it back to [TS]

00:24:25   23 meat comes in your kit for ninety [TS]

00:24:27   nine dollars you get that you get the to [TS]

00:24:29   be spit in it and then there's a little [TS]

00:24:31   mailer and you send it back to them and [TS]

00:24:33   a couple-week don't don't spit in the [TS]

00:24:35   mailer don't spit in the mail or where [TS]

00:24:37   you can examine what it was intended to [TS]

00:24:39   netflix and don't set it to the attacks [TS]

00:24:41   no yeah i got my netflix in 23andme [TS]

00:24:43   mixed out it's not good i spit in a tube [TS]

00:24:45   just this morning at $99 I could be [TS]

00:24:48   finding out all sorts of interesting [TS]

00:24:49   things about my dad's right [TS]

00:24:50   imagine that here's the thing i [TS]

00:24:53   discovered which is I did this a few [TS]

00:24:54   years ago when they had a special before [TS]

00:24:55   it was nine dollars and paid somewhat [TS]

00:24:58   more and it turns out they can do more [TS]

00:24:59   tests now and I could send another 24 [TS]

00:25:02   and I [TS]

00:25:02   sucks they keep all my current [TS]

00:25:04   information and i'll update it with [TS]

00:25:05   anything do they find out which is best [TS]

00:25:07   of all we could just clone Glenn now [TS]

00:25:08   that's right all my information [TS]

00:25:10   well everything I say and do is online [TS]

00:25:12   already so you can just load that into a [TS]

00:25:13   simple electronic brain and we're also i [TS]

00:25:16   thought you were going to say that they [TS]

00:25:17   capture spit on five weird thing would [TS]

00:25:18   be that the to glens wouldn't actually [TS]

00:25:20   know each other [TS]

00:25:21   ironically antique limb and letting you [TS]

00:25:24   know [TS]

00:25:24   also you can find out if you're related [TS]

00:25:25   to nobody which is really crazy that's [TS]

00:25:27   that's if you may be an alien or or a [TS]

00:25:31   mutant of some sort [TS]

00:25:32   you were produced when somebody spat in [TS]

00:25:34   a tube gonna check if you have a belly [TS]

00:25:38   button that's a good first [TS]

00:25:39   that's right that's a0 thing on the back [TS]

00:25:41   of my neck it's been oh my god so I you [TS]

00:25:43   know I this is something that i bought [TS]

00:25:45   in december and I'm enjoying it a lot [TS]

00:25:48   and it's it's sort of got me interested [TS]

00:25:50   in tracking down some of these relatives [TS]

00:25:52   and and also learning more about my [TS]

00:25:53   various medical predispositions and it's [TS]

00:25:56   a lot of fun and used to cost hundreds [TS]

00:25:58   of dollars and now it's ninety-nine [TS]

00:26:00   dollars and I think there are actually [TS]

00:26:02   discounts if you if you buy more than [TS]

00:26:06   one at a time to have your various [TS]

00:27:46   the to Phantom Menace episodes within 15 [TS]

00:27:49   minutes I was weeping with laughter and [TS]

00:27:50   had to turn off the stove to wipe my [TS]

00:27:52   eyes and compose myself before finishing [TS]

00:27:54   dinner you really outdid yourselves in [TS]

00:27:56   those episodes and I felt so much better [TS]

00:27:57   afterward and into today thanks for [TS]

00:27:59   being awesome from not the first ever [TS]

00:28:02   heard certainly done that have made [TS]

00:28:04   people weep so that just this is why you [TS]

00:28:07   can't listen to us here driving joy joy [TS]

00:28:09   I know he's enjoy a shocking we've been [TS]

00:28:12   almost burned themselves are turning [TS]

00:28:13   trash into joy usually it's dan sponge [TS]

00:28:16   making people cry and which me down [TS]

00:28:18   that's what I'm going for I'm looking [TS]

00:28:19   for people driving off the road i want a [TS]

00:28:21   better with people saying with drove off [TS]

00:28:22   the road yes that's you know but I [TS]

00:28:24   appreciate it almost drove on the role [TS]

00:28:26   play not written while driving off there [TS]

00:28:28   one of these days we're gonna get the [TS]

00:28:29   letter that that that's going to say I [TS]

00:28:31   did drive off the road and don't feel [TS]

00:28:33   terrible now there's a lawsuit burning [TS]

00:28:36   down the house is almost as good [TS]

00:28:38   yeah the song by with a madness now put [TS]

00:28:41   out of the book are my head's fighting [TS]

00:28:44   fire with fire [TS]

00:28:45   no bull yeah I let's see next next note [TS]

00:28:50   this is this a good one [TS]

00:28:52   this is this is a i'm not going to read [TS]

00:28:55   this one this this is nick do good for [TS]

00:28:59   us [TS]

00:29:00   Nick Richter Rodian with some detailed [TS]

00:29:03   additional thoughts he had about how [TS]

00:29:07   empty the the USS vengeance is in star [TS]

00:29:10   trek into darkness [TS]

00:29:11   it's really i know it's really empty and [TS]

00:29:15   then he also has a theory about now [TS]

00:29:17   empty couldn't about check of none more [TS]

00:29:20   empty [TS]

00:29:20   hello about how check of being given a [TS]

00:29:23   red shirt and put [TS]

00:29:24   down engineering might be a nod to the [TS]

00:29:26   fact that Khan in Star Trek to says [TS]

00:29:28   recognizes check out even though check [TS]

00:29:30   out wasn't on the ship and the theory [TS]

00:29:31   was that he was down in engineering when [TS]

00:29:34   he was really just not on the show yet [TS]

00:29:35   and strangely enough that's the second [TS]

00:29:37   craziest theory of her this week the [TS]

00:29:38   first one being that one about all the [TS]

00:29:40   pixar movies are created are related [TS]

00:29:41   that was crazy Glo second i'll close [TS]

00:29:44   second yeah so thanks to have way too [TS]

00:29:47   much time on their hands evidenced by [TS]

00:29:50   episode number 150 yeah here's a so yes [TS]

00:29:53   my using this Gary Rogers wrote in and I [TS]

00:29:56   like this one thank you so much told me [TS]

00:29:57   uncomfortable host for inviting me to [TS]

00:29:59   your cocktail party every week but [TS]

00:30:01   there's cocktails I listen to a lot of [TS]

00:30:03   you been holding out on me I wasn't a [TS]

00:30:05   lot of you about about techie sorts of [TS]

00:30:08   things but listen to the geeky things is [TS]

00:30:10   the highlight of my podcast listening [TS]

00:30:11   week and this gave me an idea for an [TS]

00:30:12   episode i wrote down on it in a note pad [TS]

00:30:15   oxide wrote down cocktail party episode [TS]

00:30:17   and i'm not sure what the real guns are [TS]

00:30:19   we all getting drunk i was thinking like [TS]

00:30:21   it i would i would mandate that we all [TS]

00:30:23   like bring food and and and drinks and [TS]

00:30:26   hors I don't even a little coming in [TS]

00:30:27   microphones just goes great together [TS]

00:30:29   with the distributed pot lockers and [TS]

00:30:31   then I'll aii delay in some like [TS]

00:30:33   background ways to make it sound like we [TS]

00:30:35   were all the cocktail party but like i [TS]

00:30:36   said it's a working idea people feast [TS]

00:30:39   yeah I see what else what else I have [TS]

00:30:43   mark reichert road in a little while ago [TS]

00:30:46   about actually parking back forty eight [TS]

00:30:49   episodes to Princess Indiana Jones and [TS]

00:30:52   he basically was agreeing with what [TS]

00:30:55   serenity said about uh about a Cora and [TS]

00:31:01   avatar the last airbender and demanding [TS]

00:31:04   that we do an episode about avatar the [TS]

00:31:06   last airbender which is not the M night [TS]

00:31:08   Shyamalan movie which was terrible who [TS]

00:31:09   now I would be up for an avatar episode [TS]

00:31:12   that would be a lot of fun i have slowly [TS]

00:31:14   gotten people around me I made and watch [TS]

00:31:17   it I made lots of people watching I've [TS]

00:31:18   seen is quite good actually yeah people [TS]

00:31:21   look at it on its face and say [TS]

00:31:22   nickelodeon cartoon no I don't want to [TS]

00:31:25   watch that that's dumb and then you get [TS]

00:31:28   strangely hooked X probably get my kids [TS]

00:31:32   to watch it and if they watch it then [TS]

00:31:33   i'll watch it with them John you'd like [TS]

00:31:35   it its it's very time you really like it [TS]

00:31:37   you can if you're gonna give your kids [TS]

00:31:39   some media site unseen what if it's like [TS]

00:31:41   a cow and I got ours prequel kind of [TS]

00:31:43   deal i'll check it out but you for my [TS]

00:31:46   kid I had my son watch future boy conan [TS]

00:31:48   on the recommendation of a listener and [TS]

00:31:51   that listeners dead now you have and [TS]

00:31:54   what is that the Iron Man Thing has [TS]

00:31:56   anyone seen the new like cg-animated [TS]

00:31:58   ironman associated thing I die I saw it [TS]

00:32:02   linked because I why i started watching [TS]

00:32:04   the the new spiderman cartoon that they [TS]

00:32:07   have on to and they mention the Iron Man [TS]

00:32:09   1 internet I think there's a lot of [TS]

00:32:11   there's a lot of Marvel cartoons out [TS]

00:32:12   there all of a sudden yeah i like the [TS]

00:32:13   spectacular but no ultimate spider-man [TS]

00:32:15   it's their fault inspiron it's alright [TS]

00:32:17   it's a little cartoony for my taxes but [TS]

00:32:19   I didn't want to hear my question still [TS]

00:32:21   stands still burns does it haha i [TS]

00:32:25   haven't listened to that episode because [TS]

00:32:26   i haven't seen iron man 3 it's okay to [TS]

00:32:28   have spoiled you either superhero draft [TS]

00:32:30   is what I just assume Steve met because [TS]

00:32:32   he got passed over for for being iron [TS]

00:32:34   man Robert Downey jr. got that part of [TS]

00:32:37   that is I didn't lie detection is in the [TS]

00:32:39   superhero draft i was there Jason come [TS]

00:32:41   on i wasn't the let's see i thought this [TS]

00:32:46   little Kyle i.d.s I think or dese des [TS]

00:32:50   let's say says totally agree with you [TS]

00:32:52   about origin stories they're dull and [TS]

00:32:54   mostly unnecessary and for some reason [TS]

00:32:56   we're forced to sit through them they're [TS]

00:32:58   also weirdly specific to the superhero [TS]

00:32:59   genre and I hard they don't feel the [TS]

00:33:01   need to start the story with John [TS]

00:33:02   between deciding to become a cop at age [TS]

00:33:04   40 diehard was his origin story he was a [TS]

00:33:07   plain old guy and how did he become a [TS]

00:33:10   hero [TS]

00:33:10   I just like the idea of four-year-old [TS]

00:33:12   son but claimed flashbacks that's pretty [TS]

00:33:14   funny [TS]

00:33:14   yippie kai a mom yeah I think lead a I [TS]

00:33:19   think well that will change his mind [TS]

00:33:21   when we do the incomparable origin story [TS]

00:33:24   welcome to the party to me birthday [TS]

00:33:29   come out to the coast will have you left [TS]

00:33:31   here so runcorn wrote in to say in [TS]

00:33:35   defense of Man of Steel didn't saw its [TS]

00:33:38   terraforming device cause even more [TS]

00:33:39   destruction than the cat whatever I why [TS]

00:33:42   we read these [TS]

00:33:43   take your feedback but actually this is [TS]

00:33:47   the part of runs letter that i really [TS]

00:33:48   love which is how do you guys find the [TS]

00:33:51   time to watch and read all this stuff [TS]

00:33:52   you might want to do a podcast on time [TS]

00:33:55   management [TS]

00:33:57   I think it's not watching and reading is [TS]

00:33:59   the podcasting with a comb and the [TS]

00:34:01   podcasting takes a lot of time it's my [TS]

00:34:04   third podcast today [TS]

00:34:05   wow i knows it's pretty hardcore lot of [TS]

00:34:09   podcasts humblebrag send help please [TS]

00:34:14   I've been strapped to this microphone [TS]

00:34:15   for six hours that is it that is a [TS]

00:34:17   challenge that when some of the [TS]

00:34:18   suggestions that I've gotten four [TS]

00:34:20   episodes are really great and I think to [TS]

00:34:22   myself you know like the people who are [TS]

00:34:24   like you shouldn't do it at the wheel of [TS]

00:34:25   time we love times like wow I haven't [TS]

00:34:28   read any of those and so if I were to [TS]

00:34:32   host an episode like that it would be [TS]

00:34:34   several years and huge amounts of time [TS]

00:34:37   before I would feel qualified which is [TS]

00:34:39   why I I won't do that someone else could [TS]

00:34:43   one of one of my compatriots here if [TS]

00:34:46   they wanted to do an episode about it [TS]

00:34:47   but that it's a challenge for some of [TS]

00:34:48   this stuff where people say even for the [TS]

00:34:50   classic movies you know you can't you [TS]

00:34:53   can't just do it off the top of your [TS]

00:34:55   head you really need to go back and [TS]

00:34:56   watch it it can be a challenge to find [TS]

00:34:59   topics and I mean I think it's great [TS]

00:35:01   that we've been doing this for three [TS]

00:35:02   years now and and haven't completely run [TS]

00:35:05   out of things to talk about my god it's [TS]

00:35:07   been three years coming up LC c nice see [TS]

00:35:11   well as we go into the to wait for three [TS]

00:35:14   years is a hundred and fifty-six and [TS]

00:35:17   this is episode 150 so interesting i [TS]

00:35:20   find it funny because i can i can track [TS]

00:35:23   and comparable episodes based on what i [TS]

00:35:25   was hired at mac roles because the first [TS]

00:35:27   incomparable up so it happened the week [TS]

00:35:29   that I was moving out to San Francisco [TS]

00:35:30   so it's a it's weird like dual [TS]

00:35:34   anniversary [TS]

00:35:35   well not related not related completely [TS]

00:35:40   unrelated but it's still just so [TS]

00:35:41   happened [TS]

00:35:42   yeah and now you're back in boston where [TS]

00:35:45   it's hot it's true it's very hot here [TS]

00:35:48   until we can't do a podcast on heat no [TS]

00:35:50   unless it's the movie in which context [TS]

00:35:53   narrows with it why not [TS]

00:35:55   except for Jason about an hour about he [TS]

00:35:57   ya Mick Devlin road into say more [TS]

00:36:00   science fiction book reviews please we [TS]

00:36:02   have a book club we got it we were [TS]

00:36:04   greeted like takes away for that you'd [TS]

00:36:06   love to hear that you go episode they're [TS]

00:36:08   gonna be five books in there and he [TS]

00:36:12   suggests stephen baxter and Peter F [TS]

00:36:13   Hamilton and more neal stephenson which [TS]

00:36:16   i think i've got some Neal Stephenson on [TS]

00:36:17   the list [TS]

00:36:18   we've got to do a podcast on the diamond [TS]

00:36:20   age because Dan is yet to read it and [TS]

00:36:22   it's a wonderful book and I was saving [TS]

00:36:24   it [TS]

00:36:25   great book that's good read them read [TS]

00:36:27   and read and read almost everything [TS]

00:36:29   everything I've read almost everything [TS]

00:36:31   else Jake pawn right rights and say I've [TS]

00:36:35   been told from an old boss that in order [TS]

00:36:36   to get smart surround yourself with [TS]

00:36:38   smart people also it helps that it's [TS]

00:36:41   that the uncomfortable is incredibly [TS]

00:36:42   geeky show I feel smarter listening to [TS]

00:36:44   the show it's also ridiculously [TS]

00:36:45   entertaining it certainly ridiculous [TS]

00:36:47   will say that I think he needs to find [TS]

00:36:49   smarter people than not I feel a lot [TS]

00:36:51   dumber being on the show so maybe it's a [TS]

00:36:53   through the looking-glass kind of thing [TS]

00:36:55   I saw the tweet about people complaining [TS]

00:36:56   about the dungeons and dragons episode [TS]

00:36:57   i've enjoyed all the episodes i thought [TS]

00:36:59   the first one was a great way to fill a [TS]

00:37:01   long night of full finger on creepy guy [TS]

00:37:04   came over to my little-ass vs. Mordechai [TS]

00:37:07   precious that tagline is going on the [TS]

00:37:09   web yeah absolutely that's going on the [TS]

00:37:10   t-shirt man please keep up what you're [TS]

00:37:13   doing i look forward to other sponsors [TS]

00:37:16   see so I can support the great working [TS]

00:37:18   great entertainment also liked Jason [TS]

00:37:19   Justin sponsors like Jason buys with [TS]

00:37:23   Syracuse's to get I think you mean Scott [TS]

00:37:25   McNulty he tells me what you read [TS]

00:37:28   i'm the owner of the neck version of the [TS]

00:37:29   hugo awards books a member of goodreads [TS]

00:37:31   enjoyed the heck out of the rooks oh [TS]

00:37:32   thank you for all the hard work [TS]

00:37:34   thanks Jane oakbrook was no I [TS]

00:37:35   recommendation siracusa yeah i know that [TS]

00:37:39   no question that was asked of me felt [TS]

00:37:40   either look at how many people can be [TS]

00:37:42   confused with on this podcast all of [TS]

00:37:44   them just circus and I want to confuse [TS]

00:37:47   me with Glenn yeah one day we'll get [TS]

00:37:50   confused will say that a long night of [TS]

00:37:52   folding the laundry was probably my [TS]

00:37:53   favorite queen album [TS]

00:37:55   yeah it was a little was a double-up [TS]

00:37:57   wasn't i think so i was a triple but but [TS]

00:38:00   here we are [TS]

00:38:02   eugene o'neill version of it [TS]

00:38:05   Todd country here's here's the best [TS]

00:38:08   letter that we received this from Karen [TS]

00:38:11   Healy dear mr. snow i should do this in [TS]

00:38:15   that voice right I really should i right [TS]

00:38:17   to complain about your podcast in too [TS]

00:38:19   big for mercy [TS]

00:38:20   I have been an unwilling listening for [TS]

00:38:22   several years now i have chosen to [TS]

00:38:24   suffer largely in silence with the [TS]

00:38:26   exception of the occasional [TS]

00:38:27   passive-aggressive tweet of complaint [TS]

00:38:28   but i confess i can stand it no longer [TS]

00:38:31   you and your minions have made my life a [TS]

00:38:34   living hell [TS]

00:38:35   each week a new episode of the [TS]

00:38:36   incomparable forces its way into my [TS]

00:38:38   itunes folder and from there onto my [TS]

00:38:40   phone then with the inevitability of [TS]

00:38:43   death but a suddenness that somehow [TS]

00:38:45   always manages to shock i hear the black [TS]

00:38:48   helicopters overhead this is losing me [TS]

00:38:50   here [TS]

00:38:51   the men and the flak jackets and tinted [TS]

00:38:52   full-face helmets to send on the ropes [TS]

00:38:54   sees me and clamp the headphones on [TS]

00:38:57   I do not allow tar or how they find me [TS]

00:38:59   they never speak so I'm pretty sure one [TS]

00:39:01   of them is McNulty take that me know [TS]

00:39:06   they push the play button another our [TS]

00:39:07   suffering begins it was not always like [TS]

00:39:10   this once i listened voluntarily hook [TS]

00:39:12   but what I think everyone agrees is your [TS]

00:39:14   masterpiece the famous episode 22 [TS]

00:39:16   Stephen Fry does not appear [TS]

00:39:18   sadly the production quality and [TS]

00:39:20   professionalism displayed in that [TS]

00:39:22   episode did not appear again by the time [TS]

00:39:26   I realized this your iron fist descended [TS]

00:39:28   and I was trapped by now dread every [TS]

00:39:29   aspect of the show from the primal whale [TS]

00:39:32   the spoiler horn [TS]

00:39:37   the unhelpfully reasonable Lisa [TS]

00:39:39   Schmeisser from the irritatingly young [TS]

00:39:41   serenity Caldwell to the host himself [TS]

00:39:43   whose quote genial Californian stick [TS]

00:39:46   barely concealed the power crazed [TS]

00:39:48   lunatic within well that's the shit i [TS]

00:39:51   will not even mention the terrifying [TS]

00:39:53   monologues blend fleischmann whom I knew [TS]

00:39:55   in college in incidentally what its [TS]

00:39:59   lending he was going either he's putting [TS]

00:40:00   or the wholly inappropriate Steve let's [TS]

00:40:03   that's what's on my business cards worst [TS]

00:40:05   in saddest of all are the two John [TS]

00:40:06   Syracuse's the first familiar to [TS]

00:40:08   everyone is impressively expert across a [TS]

00:40:11   range of domains the second emerges [TS]

00:40:13   presumably only when the medication is [TS]

00:40:15   worn off [TS]

00:40:15   he sounds the same but he goes by a [TS]

00:40:17   different name and has a different set [TS]

00:40:18   of views entirely it was a sad [TS]

00:40:22   indictment of our societies lack of care [TS]

00:40:23   for its most vulnerable members that [TS]

00:40:25   John siracusa / dan morgan is allowed to [TS]

00:40:28   wander in the community at well like [TS]

00:40:29   some kind of new england natalie portman [TS]

00:40:31   / keira knightley who can tell you can [TS]

00:40:34   should be ashamed god that sounds my [TS]

00:40:36   life sound more glamorous if only if [TS]

00:40:39   only so please I entreat you know more [TS]

00:40:41   call off your thugs release me from this [TS]

00:40:43   nightmare and stop forcing me to listen [TS]

00:40:44   to your show in the meantime I think [TS]

00:40:45   it's time you let Stephen Hawking [TS]

00:40:47   contribute more than just the opening [TS]

00:40:48   tag line [TS]

00:40:49   surely he's earned it yours sincerely [TS]

00:40:51   Karen ely 92 Kieran Healy finally [TS]

00:40:55   someone recognizes my contribution to [TS]

00:40:57   this ammeter outfit [TS]

00:40:59   nicely done can you do that again with [TS]

00:41:02   Irish accent here if you could only see [TS]

00:41:04   their lips you would easily be able to [TS]

00:41:06   tell Dan and John apart if you I mean if [TS]

00:41:10   you could only see our lips yeah like [TS]

00:41:12   just the lips like I cut like icon [TS]

00:41:14   O'Brien thing [TS]

00:41:15   yeah that's exactly a clutch cargo and [TS]

00:41:19   if we dress them both up like like [TS]

00:41:21   Amidala could we tell them apart and [TS]

00:41:24   yeah I think we have to find out i think [TS]

00:41:27   we have to do that at some point i mean [TS]

00:41:30   i am well versed in effect stage makeup [TS]

00:41:32   that could have been our comic-con thing [TS]

00:41:33   that you know i would be dressing like [TS]

00:41:35   John circus i'm cosplaying syracuse ugh [TS]

00:41:37   i'm going to get my horizontally striped [TS]

00:41:39   rugby shirt and then John and dan can go [TS]

00:41:42   as Amidala and the the bodyguard double [TS]

00:41:46   which is witch who is the body garden [TS]

00:41:49   who is Amidala we will be able to tell [TS]

00:41:50   I mean you make it sound like I don't [TS]

00:41:52   just wear that stuff all the time I mean [TS]

00:41:54   come on [TS]

00:41:55   yeah i think i'm wearing right now Dylan [TS]

00:41:58   geo veneto wrote in and said love the [TS]

00:42:01   show guys dig the movie episodes [TS]

00:42:03   maybe we could have a fan boat voted [TS]

00:42:05   movie to be reviewed [TS]

00:42:07   I also the fan now that's how traps [TS]

00:42:09   happen the fantasy draft episodes are [TS]

00:42:11   simply amazing [TS]

00:42:12   may I suggest a fictional vehicle [TS]

00:42:14   episode DeLorean vs enterprise vs TARDIS [TS]

00:42:17   princes death star who vs james bond car [TS]

00:42:20   could be fun that's nice idea why [TS]

00:42:23   waiting forever [TS]

00:42:24   save it save us two rounds we could get [TS]

00:42:26   have a pocket yeah I don't know know [TS]

00:42:28   there's Herbie the Love Bug swimmin [TS]

00:42:30   oh my god and skeletor is a great space [TS]

00:42:34   together with van he didn't really have [TS]

00:42:36   a steed I think beast man had something [TS]

00:42:38   that Skeletor was he also just walked [TS]

00:42:40   yeah yeah but later he's a public [TS]

00:42:42   transport guy I think Skeletor sessions [TS]

00:42:45   we have that big hit a big purple cat [TS]

00:42:47   skeleton on the bus didn't even I don't [TS]

00:42:50   think he had a cat i'm pretty sure who I [TS]

00:42:52   added wasn't the big purple you don't [TS]

00:42:54   have a battle cat and I think he was [TS]

00:42:55   baked right and there's the same mold as [TS]

00:42:57   battle cat but i had purple belt on it i [TS]

00:42:59   think i had i really should know this [TS]

00:43:00   but you're indicating commercial come on [TS]

00:43:02   I didn't make the toy just held it for a [TS]

00:43:05   while he's got a tank that looks like a [TS]

00:43:07   shark guys come on i had that actually i [TS]

00:43:10   forgot about him on the chat room needs [TS]

00:43:11   to know the name of that purple come [TS]

00:43:13   here and Healy just said that he was [TS]

00:43:14   trying to do a flophouse feedback [TS]

00:43:17   survive in his letter which is good [TS]

00:43:19   you know John do you want to sing a [TS]

00:43:21   little uh uncomfortable feedback episode [TS]

00:43:25   theme song for me [TS]

00:43:26   ally Elliot kalyan on the flophouse [TS]

00:43:28   wonder we can get him on here [TS]

00:43:30   oh man those guys really know they're [TS]

00:43:32   geeky media to know I'm going on here to [TS]

00:43:36   shame them for not knowing things so [TS]

00:43:38   they know they know comments at [TS]

00:43:40   cyclopedia knowledge of invisible maniac [TS]

00:43:42   and Castle freak is not there comes [TS]

00:43:44   another comment here their comics and we [TS]

00:43:46   actually know about comics I don't [TS]

00:43:47   matter [TS]

00:43:47   no anything like oh yeah maybe that [TS]

00:43:49   maybe they're about to drop some obscure [TS]

00:43:50   couple we get a lot of people on the [TS]

00:43:52   show by threatening to shame them i [TS]

00:43:53   think that's really one of our core [TS]

00:43:55   competency and comparable feedback [TS]

00:43:57   episode like a hundred percent more [TS]

00:44:00   shaming people can do you got Jason [TS]

00:44:04   utilize 10 more minutes I i have pandora [TS]

00:44:08   school tours evil feline companion go of [TS]

00:44:16   the show right all right keep it as fair [TS]

00:44:18   use we don't you know [TS]

00:44:19   all right LT doesn't actually care [TS]

00:44:23   Wow uh we have a nice letter that i [TS]

00:44:25   can't read all of because it's very long [TS]

00:44:27   from etienne block i'm going to say from [TS]

00:44:30   South Africa who says the geek community [TS]

00:44:34   is very small in South Africa it's very [TS]

00:44:35   hard to find a group of people to walk [TS]

00:44:38   out of man of steel and argue its merits [TS]

00:44:40   and or demerits is the case may be and [TS]

00:44:45   then he was very happy to discover the [TS]

00:44:46   podcast and he i'm gonna guess but it [TS]

00:44:49   could be here she I don't I really don't [TS]

00:44:51   know and it in the letter continues what [TS]

00:44:55   makes this podcast really enjoyable is [TS]

00:44:56   that one clear get the fact that all the [TS]

00:44:58   panelists are friends and know each [TS]

00:45:00   other that labels and preferences for [TS]

00:45:03   dan I say everybody's enemy everybody's [TS]

00:45:08   just a robot that we you know made to [TS]

00:45:23   incomparable congratulations on a job [TS]

00:45:25   well done also i will play pay good [TS]

00:45:28   money for a shirt that says eat it smell [TS]

00:45:46   available for voiceover work [TS]

00:45:48   ok I this this one I'm gonna I'm gonna [TS]

00:45:51   try to get this this letter this letter [TS]

00:45:53   writer following the Syracuse and [TS]

00:45:55   protocol said I'm a pronunciation guide [TS]

00:45:58   so we're going to say [TS]

00:46:00   anirudh [TS]

00:46:01   contour I think any road contour he [TS]

00:46:05   didn't tell me how to pronounce his last [TS]

00:46:06   name any Ruth any rude [TS]

00:46:09   well hit he said it was sunny Ruth and [TS]

00:46:11   then I looked on the youtube link that [TS]

00:46:25   two years since that tweet I've enjoyed [TS]

00:46:26   every episode i have listened to and [TS]

00:46:29   still eagerly await the matrix episode [TS]

00:46:31   everything you think we get you to keep [TS]

00:46:32   coming back it's on the list its I swear [TS]

00:46:34   it's still on the list it's almost never [TS]

00:46:36   do a major ski showed because he will [TS]

00:46:38   immediately stop listening [TS]

00:46:39   exactly that's it that's the best that [TS]

00:46:41   area dangling out there the matrix [TS]

00:46:43   episode will be our last episode I [TS]

00:46:45   thought we put on the list we switched [TS]

00:46:47   being in the matrix so actually the [TS]

00:46:48   listener has been the matrix the whole [TS]

00:46:50   time and only five minutes has passed in [TS]

00:46:52   his real life I'm waiting for the lake [TS]

00:46:54   house at present i know some people who [TS]

00:46:57   would be on that lake house episode [TS]

00:47:00   alright and have one more email hear [TS]

00:47:02   this from eric critically erik [TS]

00:47:04   christensen whoo-hoo starts with minor [TS]

00:47:07   criticism he said a few episodes seem to [TS]

00:47:10   be everywhere except no greater seem to [TS]

00:47:11   be a thread of everyone that disagrees [TS]

00:47:13   with my opinion is irrational like dance [TS]

00:47:16   very irrational critics even when I [TS]

00:47:19   agree with your opinion I was a little [TS]

00:47:20   turned off by that seemed out of step [TS]

00:47:21   with the usual and comfortable ride and [TS]

00:47:23   kind of reminded me of the Avengers [TS]

00:47:24   episode to burn never bring up the [TS]

00:47:30   Avengers have a social life company [TS]

00:47:32   exnay on the vengers a yeah and then [TS]

00:47:41   four years of high school I think I [TS]

00:47:43   would know pig let me come right and [TS]

00:47:45   then he said nice things about more [TS]

00:47:47   comic book stuff and adding in moist s [TS]

00:47:49   and Merlin and doing the wrinkle in time [TS]

00:47:51   episode he thought was great and the [TS]

00:47:53   drafts are always great [TS]

00:47:55   so that's good so what I'm hearing is [TS]

00:48:15   allows us to say hey maybe you could [TS]

00:48:17   review review the show on iTunes and i'm [TS]

00:48:20   going to actually announce now a contest [TS]

00:48:22   all my ring that previously [TS]

00:48:24   letter-writer suggested that we could [TS]

00:48:27   have a poll of of a movie that we could [TS]

00:48:31   do an episode about I'm gonna do you one [TS]

00:48:33   better [TS]

00:48:33   everybody who leaves an itunes review of [TS]

00:48:37   this podcast and I guess I stole this [TS]

00:48:39   totally from the flophouse again because [TS]

00:48:41   I'm looking for more vaguely specified [TS]

00:48:43   contest and I'm telling you you're on [TS]

00:48:44   thin ice here it's very simple [TS]

00:48:47   from the moment that we announce that [TS]

00:48:49   you can do this until we announce that [TS]

00:48:51   it's over which i will announce at a [TS]

00:48:54   later time let's let's say the end of [TS]

00:48:55   July everybody who writes a itunes [TS]

00:48:59   review of the podcast will be entered in [TS]

00:49:02   a random drawing and the winner will be [TS]

00:49:05   able to pick a topic for a future [TS]

00:49:06   episode of the uncomfortable [TS]

00:49:08   wow yeah so that was a lie Steve I've [TS]

00:49:30   itunes course there isn't [TS]

00:49:32   Jake Owen road I'm glad to have been [TS]

00:50:32   funny great discussions about movies and [TS]

00:50:33   TV i'm not convinced that i should start [TS]

00:50:36   reading the comic books they're [TS]

00:50:37   discussing but the other my fullness [TS]

00:50:40   courtesy and weight of the host of the [TS]

00:50:41   guests are unfailingly entertaining on [TS]

00:50:45   which podcast about the new disruptors [TS]

00:50:47   that's okay i'm not sure i could love [TS]

00:51:20   wide-ranging discussion of books movies [TS]

00:51:22   comics and TV [TS]

00:51:24   Jason Snell does a great job moderating [TS]

00:51:26   the discussion even when there are many [TS]

00:51:28   guests as we can during yeah i highly [TS]

00:51:31   recommend the back catalogue if there's [TS]

00:51:33   a topic you want to hear about that that [TS]

00:51:35   is true and we are trying to work on [TS]

00:51:36   relaunching the incomparable calm with a [TS]

00:51:38   little bit better index so you can find [TS]

00:51:40   what number is that episode was when we [TS]

00:51:43   talked about some movie that you're [TS]

00:51:44   interested in [TS]

00:51:46   we don't have to make sure when people [TS]

00:51:47   search for Stephen Fry comes up with [TS]

00:51:48   zero results [TS]

00:51:49   exactly that's it that's the [TS]

00:51:50   choose-your-own-adventure that has the [TS]

00:51:52   one ending that you can't get to from [TS]

00:51:53   any actual page you have to just find [TS]

00:51:55   how yeah there's the spaceship one [TS]

00:51:57   that's right you have something that was [TS]

00:51:58   already booked 12 inside you have 54 [TS]

00:52:01   Morgan's room that's right towards nerds [TS]

00:52:05   but then they remembered them and I'm [TS]

00:52:07   not sure they reprinted that one to the [TS]

00:52:09   booty that was in that to the new booty [TS]

00:52:12   nice you pretty you wrote music for do [TS]

00:52:14   the Naboo to the new booty oh yes I did [TS]

00:52:21   yeah alright this and this is the piece [TS]

00:52:23   piece de resistance of itunes reviews [TS]

00:52:26   John this one was written in markdown [TS]

00:52:28   which itunes doesn't understand and so [TS]

00:52:31   it's just markdown syntax in the middle [TS]

00:52:33   of itunes Jonathan pacheco bless you he [TS]

00:52:39   first section is called panelists route [TS]

00:52:41   rotates group through a group of [TS]

00:52:42   panelists you guys who listen know all [TS]

00:52:44   of this [TS]

00:52:45   topics special format episodes he says [TS]

00:52:48   thankfully every once in a while the [TS]

00:52:49   comfortable likes to break away from the [TS]

00:52:51   regular monotony and do something [TS]

00:52:53   different like a film festival or a [TS]

00:52:55   draft and he's got us dead to rights [TS]

00:52:58   that's exactly what we try to do is mix [TS]

00:53:00   it up [TS]

00:53:01   ok here we go here the cons though [TS]

00:53:02   here's our careers are from the [TS]

00:53:06   gentleman doesn't he's not a fan of the [TS]

00:53:08   dnd episode so I rejected so i think i [TS]

00:53:11   think there's some good stuff and we're [TS]

00:53:12   gonna reject it anyway Scott I so [TS]

00:53:14   technical timeliness which has got three [TS]

00:53:17   hash marks the beginning because it's a [TS]

00:53:18   subhead in markdown that's not [TS]

00:53:20   recognized by itunes timeliness for me [TS]

00:53:22   tends to work against the uncomfortable [TS]

00:53:24   not that they don't attempt to to be [TS]

00:53:25   your succeeded being timely irrelevant [TS]

00:53:27   but when they do the quality suffers a [TS]

00:53:29   little bit i'm referring primarily the [TS]

00:53:30   effort episode sending around say a [TS]

00:53:32   recent movie release because they're [TS]

00:53:35   trying to record release an episode [TS]

00:53:36   while the film is still relevant [TS]

00:53:37   typically means the panelists have seen [TS]

00:53:38   the film once or twice and have only had [TS]

00:53:40   about a week or two to ruminate on it [TS]

00:53:42   compared that to their two part of scene [TS]

00:53:44   by scene breakdown of each original star [TS]

00:53:46   wars film so I think this is a good [TS]

00:53:49   criticism and I've had that same thing [TS]

00:53:50   we go back and forth about whether to be [TS]

00:53:54   timely or not a lot of the notes we get [TS]

00:53:57   on social media like about a hot new [TS]

00:53:59   release and they say oh when are you [TS]

00:54:01   gonna do this when you're gonna talk [TS]

00:54:02   about man of steel or star trek or iron [TS]

00:54:04   man or whatever and it it generally [TS]

00:54:07   isn't our bag to do that and so this [TS]

00:54:08   summer i know we tried it with three of [TS]

00:54:11   these movies and i'm still not sure if [TS]

00:54:12   it's really a set our best to do the to [TS]

00:54:15   do those let me let me let me talk about [TS]

00:54:16   a a point there which is to say not [TS]

00:54:18   every movie has as much to talk about [TS]

00:54:20   his star wars does yeah I mean oh yeah [TS]

00:54:23   and he said that says that it's not a [TS]

00:54:24   really good bar right there but I mean I [TS]

00:54:27   i think that the difference between [TS]

00:54:28   going through something that's been out [TS]

00:54:30   for a while even if it's just come out [TS]

00:54:32   on video and we've had a little time to [TS]

00:54:33   digest it versus something that we [TS]

00:54:36   literally you know saw once a couple of [TS]

00:54:38   days before I think that there's some [TS]

00:54:41   validity in there is certainly a very [TS]

00:54:42   different kind of feeling we're talking [TS]

00:54:43   about a new release then we're talking [TS]

00:54:45   about the classic well sure but I i [TS]

00:54:47   think those are two separate types of [TS]

00:54:48   episodes and more to the point I like [TS]

00:54:50   doing a couple days after I've seen it [TS]

00:54:52   because then [TS]

00:54:52   i still remember what happened in that [TS]

00:54:53   movie whereas i might not watch that [TS]

00:54:56   movie again like six months Michael by [TS]

00:54:58   music and movie was alright yeah i think [TS]

00:55:00   the most movies doll with time it's good [TS]

00:55:02   it's good to record our first [TS]

00:55:03   impressions to like don't you want don't [TS]

00:55:05   the maid imagine several years in the [TS]

00:55:07   future like it would say well done with [TS]

00:55:09   the is our first impressions this movie [TS]

00:55:11   and maybe maybe they change maybe the [TS]

00:55:12   movie we like now we think sucked or [TS]

00:55:14   maybe a movie that we weren't that into [TS]

00:55:16   or thought was okay now has come out to [TS]

00:55:18   be a classic enemy if imagine if we [TS]

00:55:20   could have recorded our initial [TS]

00:55:22   reactions to for example Star Wars like [TS]

00:55:24   just coming out of the movie or whatever [TS]

00:55:25   when we were you know 10 years old or I [TS]

00:55:27   don't know was awesome [TS]

00:55:29   yes I think you should someone ladies [TS]

00:55:32   really called well we'll talk about Star [TS]

00:55:33   Wars yeah i mean i think that's I think [TS]

00:55:37   it's good to get that down because it [TS]

00:55:39   could be interesting to look back on [TS]

00:55:41   that but that's probably never gonna [TS]

00:55:43   stop talking in fairness you're not [TS]

00:55:44   probably gonna go back to that same [TS]

00:55:47   movie or show or whatever it is not [TS]

00:55:50   maybe even if it's not us it's like [TS]

00:55:51   other people who buy dramamine things [TS]

00:55:53   I'm know how long things are going to [TS]

00:55:55   live on the Internet me would you like [TS]

00:55:56   to hear what people thought of this [TS]

00:55:57   movie when it was released well here's [TS]

00:55:59   some people talking about [TS]

00:56:01   yeah this is not really a happy medium [TS]

00:56:03   there i mean you can do a movie that's [TS]

00:56:05   fresh [TS]

00:56:06   but then just by necessity you're not [TS]

00:56:08   going to have the kind of the kind of [TS]

00:56:10   thoughts on it that you get when you sit [TS]

00:56:12   and ruminate for several months or you [TS]

00:56:14   can do an old movie where you've had [TS]

00:56:16   months or years to think about it and [TS]

00:56:18   and there you're gonna get you know kind [TS]

00:56:19   of some more in-depth insights that [TS]

00:56:21   you've had some more time to spend on we [TS]

00:56:23   already do both of those things that you [TS]

00:56:24   might know [TS]

00:56:25   yeah great there's not really in the [TS]

00:56:26   middle you're gonna get people go and [TS]

00:56:27   why that why are you talking about say [TS]

00:56:29   permit for me theaters for instance [TS]

00:56:31   which was like eight months ago or [TS]

00:56:33   whatever that was out [TS]

00:56:34   well sometimes you see something and you [TS]

00:56:35   come out of a gun oh man i need to have [TS]

00:56:38   things to say about this movie sometime [TS]

00:56:40   to come out of it you don't have things [TS]

00:56:41   to say maybe those episodes aren't that [TS]

00:56:42   great but prometheus is an example where [TS]

00:56:44   I think a lot of people came out of it [TS]

00:56:47   just really didn't like it really want [TS]

00:56:48   to complain about it maybe that feeling [TS]

00:56:50   sticks with you I mean look at phantom [TS]

00:56:52   menace that you know what are our anger [TS]

00:56:55   about that movie stuck with us long [TS]

00:56:56   enough to yeah we can do an episode [TS]

00:56:58   about eight years later and it's it's [TS]

00:57:00   still like you know still fresh [TS]

00:57:02   right now I'm just not sure there's any [TS]

00:57:04   way to do a current fellow [TS]

00:57:05   without by just being somewhat shallow [TS]

00:57:09   on it you're gonna get something that's [TS]

00:57:10   old and have an in-depth discussion or [TS]

00:57:12   you're going to get something that's new [TS]

00:57:13   and and you're gonna get the first [TS]

00:57:16   thoughts of somebody who watched a [TS]

00:57:18   couple days ago my reactions are just [TS]

00:57:20   you know their best when freshest you [TS]

00:57:22   know before the expiration date [TS]

00:57:24   so that's what i like to do it [TS]

00:57:25   immediately after watching a movie they [TS]

00:57:27   turn brown like avocado and bananas soak [TS]

00:57:30   yourself in some lemon juice is so gonna [TS]

00:57:33   use my skin looking young [TS]

00:57:35   I'm just saying like I agree with i [TS]

00:57:36   agree with the criticism I just I'm not [TS]

00:57:38   sure there's really a solution to it the [TS]

00:57:40   solution would be first I disagree with [TS]

00:57:42   these critical solution would be to not [TS]

00:57:44   do it [TS]

00:57:44   the solution would be the first to say [TS]

00:57:46   well you know which I said sort of last [TS]

00:57:48   summer when the blockbusters are coming [TS]

00:57:49   out i said that it's not really our bag [TS]

00:57:51   to to rush [TS]

00:57:53   also it's hard for me sometimes to get [TS]

00:57:55   out and see me because you know kids uh [TS]

00:57:57   it's it you know we could say that we [TS]

00:58:01   can say well that's not what we do we [TS]

00:58:02   don't you know the biggest star wars [TS]

00:58:04   episode 7 like we're gonna we're gonna [TS]

00:58:06   do an episode not after we see it yeah [TS]

00:58:08   it's like it's inevitable and only [TS]

00:58:10   because we're not all want to talk about [TS]

00:58:11   it well I really wanted to talk about [TS]

00:58:12   Star Trek I mean I was gonna say yeah I [TS]

00:58:15   think we have to do starting to think [TS]

00:58:16   that it's fine to keep mixed up i mean [TS]

00:58:18   we're not trying to be the every week we [TS]

00:58:20   write review a move-in-ready movie and [TS]

00:58:22   right we can always go see kids at the [TS]

00:58:24   your local cinema right that's a [TS]

00:58:27   different podcast so that leads into our [TS]

00:58:30   into his other subheading under cons [TS]

00:58:34   which is conflict conflict I to it that [TS]

00:58:43   this this podcast variety panelist is [TS]

00:58:44   one of the strongest assets but it would [TS]

00:58:46   work more on the podcast favorite this [TS]

00:58:47   group didn't share so many of the same [TS]

00:58:49   opinions i just might disagree [TS]

00:58:52   yeah it's got that's the stupidest thing [TS]

00:58:55   I've ever heard [TS]

00:58:56   I think he's got a point Steve what ya [TS]

00:58:59   not changing out what you said has [TS]

00:59:01   become the stupidest thing I've ever you [TS]

00:59:04   sir [TS]

00:59:04   RT is in contrast with that previous [TS]

00:59:07   piece of feedback we got about about the [TS]

00:59:08   other other opinions no good no let me [TS]

00:59:11   continue here with this isn't laps [TS]

00:59:14   cannibal who is this jonathan the shell [TS]

00:59:16   that man down show Dom I get the [TS]

00:59:18   impression anything [TS]

00:59:19   bigger than a minor negligible [TS]

00:59:20   disagreement makes makes the panelists [TS]

00:59:23   or me the host uncomfortable he almost [TS]

00:59:26   apologize for being off in the negative [TS]

00:59:27   are conflicting territory as in the [TS]

00:59:29   aaron sorkin episode dan that's that's [TS]

00:59:31   my back and actually have apologized [TS]

00:59:33   only half-jokingly for an episode that [TS]

00:59:34   got probably about as heated as a benign [TS]

00:59:36   and comfortable at episode can get I [TS]

00:59:38   refer of course to the Avengers episode [TS]

00:59:39   which cause other people referred to as [TS]

00:59:41   infamous when India not currently it is [TS]

00:59:43   expressed to start strong disagree with [TS]

00:59:45   the rest of the group will seem rather [TS]

00:59:46   taken aback ok so we talked about the [TS]

00:59:48   Avengers episode again my take on this [TS]

00:59:50   to recap is is that I don't think Andy's [TS]

00:59:53   disagreement with the problem with the [TS]

00:59:54   episode i think the problem was that the [TS]

00:59:56   episode suddenly became about us all [TS]

00:59:58   talking to eat [TS]

00:59:58   talking to eat [TS]

01:00:00   he and Andy I mean and he sort of took [TS]

01:00:02   over the episode and it became about [TS]

01:00:04   Andy's opinion instead of about the [TS]

01:00:06   movie and I think the problem there was [TS]

01:00:07   not the disagreement i think the problem [TS]

01:00:09   there was that there was a little too [TS]

01:00:11   much Andy and our responses were [TS]

01:00:14   basically trying to respond to andy and [TS]

01:00:17   you know yet in my mind that fell apart [TS]

01:00:20   but I don't think it was the [TS]

01:00:21   disagreement that did it and a lot of [TS]

01:00:24   times the disagree the lack of [TS]

01:00:26   disagreements happen randomly I have to [TS]

01:00:28   say like man of steel [TS]

01:00:30   I fully expected to be the only person [TS]

01:00:32   who didn't like the movie i actually [TS]

01:00:34   went to the trouble of inviting more [TS]

01:00:35   sense to you on on because he said he [TS]

01:00:37   liked the movie and in the end we all [TS]

01:00:40   kind of have the same criticisms of it [TS]

01:00:42   even though moisten still says he likes [TS]

01:00:44   it he did agree with a lot of the [TS]

01:00:45   criticism of it so sometimes that just [TS]

01:00:47   happens I I admit I didn't go out of my [TS]

01:00:50   way to find somebody who hated star trek [TS]

01:00:51   into darkness but I also didn't bar [TS]

01:00:55   anybody who said they didn't like it [TS]

01:00:57   from being on so but i think this is a I [TS]

01:01:00   think that's a good point i mean this is [TS]

01:01:01   one of the questions with the podcast [TS]

01:01:03   I'm interested what you guys think about [TS]

01:01:05   you know the role of conflict i hate i [TS]

01:01:08   hate to think that we're we're a podcast [TS]

01:01:10   people who just sits around going yeah I [TS]

01:01:12   liked it it's awesome like that one [TS]

01:01:13   review that i may be sad on the itunes [TS]

01:01:15   store a few years ago that said it was [TS]

01:01:17   like the chris farley show remember that [TS]

01:01:18   thing that was cool yeah that was [TS]

01:01:20   awesome [TS]

01:01:21   that's you know I definitely don't want [TS]

01:01:22   the podcast to be that this isn't debate [TS]

01:01:25   club though I mean that's not the point [TS]

01:01:27   the point is that we can raise the point [TS]

01:01:29   Steve now sorry 1.2 smell haha it's got [TS]

01:01:35   the same can't wait for this huh [TS]

01:01:37   I disagree we agreed too much to that [TS]

01:01:40   don't that never happens [TS]

01:01:41   was it the things people don't know is [TS]

01:01:42   that we like sign upsign up whatever [TS]

01:01:45   like express our interest to be on an [TS]

01:01:46   episode before any of us have seen the [TS]

01:01:48   movie so it's like oh we're going to do [TS]

01:01:49   a star trek episode whoever wants to be [TS]

01:01:51   on that like let it be known and that [TS]

01:01:54   happens before any of us have seen the [TS]

01:01:55   movies how do we know whether we're [TS]

01:01:56   gonna like all like Star Trek and I mean [TS]

01:01:58   it could be that just the start was an [TS]

01:02:00   enjoyable movie that's why we call it a [TS]

01:02:01   blight like it's it's not that was [TS]

01:02:03   actually not is that it's not it's not [TS]

01:02:06   picked based on you know what were they [TS]

01:02:08   cannot trying to find balance right like [TS]

01:02:10   we're not this isn't a political we have [TS]

01:02:13   fat people deliberately sign up [TS]

01:02:14   specifically because they think that [TS]

01:02:16   their their opinion differs from what [TS]

01:02:18   the absolutely gonna be yeah it's not [TS]

01:02:20   that were being all positive or negative [TS]

01:02:21   we always think alike its evolving think [TS]

01:02:24   sometimes we have the discussion and we [TS]

01:02:26   figure out how much more we like or [TS]

01:02:27   don't like something [TS]

01:02:28   also we do this thing called listening [TS]

01:02:30   and changing our opinion sometimes based [TS]

01:02:31   on new information is disturbing to some [TS]

01:02:33   people i have never done that have a [TS]

01:02:35   doctor who episodes are a good example [TS]

01:02:36   where like doctor who really is mixed [TS]

01:02:38   and depending on people's mood and their [TS]

01:02:40   experience with dr. food like sometimes [TS]

01:02:42   it's like we can kind of all agree on [TS]

01:02:44   what the good and bad episodes were but [TS]

01:02:46   then when it comes to assess the overall [TS]

01:02:47   season like you know I it really i think [TS]

01:02:51   it really we as a group and give a [TS]

01:02:53   reasonable assessment of the quality of [TS]

01:02:56   the product like you know I don't like [TS]

01:02:58   it was metacritic things or whatever [TS]

01:03:00   like it look if everybody loves a movie [TS]

01:03:02   and it's just get rated highly [TS]

01:03:04   everywhere and it's like oscar-nominated [TS]

01:03:06   and just universally acclaimed visit a [TS]

01:03:08   shock that we're going to have an [TS]

01:03:09   episode about it and like most of the [TS]

01:03:11   people on the panel are going to like it [TS]

01:03:12   you know where it were not it's not like [TS]

01:03:14   equal time on the the radio waves where [TS]

01:03:17   we have to have someone giving the [TS]

01:03:19   opposing view on a movie that everybody [TS]

01:03:21   loves right if it's a great movie [TS]

01:03:23   we're gonna have an episode and we're [TS]

01:03:24   all going to like it and like I said we [TS]

01:03:26   signed up for expressed interest to be [TS]

01:03:28   on that episode before any of us saw the [TS]

01:03:30   movie or read the book or whatever [TS]

01:03:32   a lot of the time so I don't think [TS]

01:03:35   there's any bias one way or the other I [TS]

01:03:36   think we're just reflecting the quality [TS]

01:03:39   of the thing in some sort of average [TS]

01:03:41   size that way if I may disagree with [TS]

01:03:43   myself John circulator i would say I got [TS]

01:03:46   nothin [TS]

01:03:46   the I you know I I a couple pieces of [TS]

01:03:49   feedback work i'm trying to guess at how [TS]

01:03:50   the the episodes are our program didn't [TS]

01:03:53   I can you know as John was saying of I [TS]

01:03:56   send out a note i used oodle.com to send [TS]

01:04:00   out a note with all the time that I'm [TS]

01:04:01   capable of recording an episode and I [TS]

01:04:03   say we're doing an episode [TS]

01:04:05   here's what here's what it's about [TS]

01:04:07   here's a link let me know if you can [TS]

01:04:08   make it and then people RSVP essentially [TS]

01:04:10   and then hopefully if they've rsvp'd we [TS]

01:04:13   find a common time and people show up [TS]

01:04:16   and we do the episode what what you get [TS]

01:04:18   when you do that is something that is [TS]

01:04:19   not as together as if we were trying to [TS]

01:04:21   create this sort of statistically valid [TS]

01:04:24   speed most difference [TS]

01:04:27   a prospective opinions sort of thing and [TS]

01:04:29   so it is much more catch-as-catch-can I [TS]

01:04:32   don't know it at the exception is really [TS]

01:04:35   when I saw that voice s to do man of [TS]

01:04:36   steel specifically because I wanted him [TS]

01:04:39   because he said he liked it and any not [TS]

01:04:42   co likewise I sought out Andy for that [TS]

01:04:44   episode because he knew he was gonna [TS]

01:04:46   like it and I he was unable to be there [TS]

01:04:50   just the one common time we had he was [TS]

01:04:51   on a train so we couldn't do it so some [TS]

01:04:53   of it is just that it's scattershot that [TS]

01:04:55   people choose to be the on the episodes [TS]

01:04:57   that they want to be on and that there [TS]

01:04:59   there's a continuous-time and then we do [TS]

01:05:03   it and then it just sort of happened and [TS]

01:05:05   like I said with Man of Steel had no [TS]

01:05:06   idea what the general thoughts were [TS]

01:05:08   going to be a star trek into darkness I [TS]

01:05:10   I didn't know I had an idea that most [TS]

01:05:12   people liked it but I didn't know for [TS]

01:05:14   sure and we signed up some people you [TS]

01:05:16   know signed up before they even saw the [TS]

01:05:18   movie so you know it and I think doctor [TS]

01:05:21   who is a good example where we can have [TS]

01:05:23   a lot of different opinions within even [TS]

01:05:26   if like this year we sort of all came to [TS]

01:05:28   the same agreement about the the season [TS]

01:05:30   being a little bit disappointing but we [TS]

01:05:31   are different episodes that we liked and [TS]

01:05:33   didn't like which I thought was was good [TS]

01:05:35   so I like it when there's when there's [TS]

01:05:37   stuff to chew on and we have [TS]

01:05:38   disagreements or different perspectives [TS]

01:05:41   on things i don't like it if it's just [TS]

01:05:43   seen as being this kind of Politburo [TS]

01:05:44   that's gonna be reflecting the [TS]

01:05:47   agreed-upon opinion but sometimes that [TS]

01:05:49   just happens when there is disagreement [TS]

01:05:51   my goal is there you know I want to make [TS]

01:05:53   it a free-flowing conversation and not [TS]

01:05:56   have it get derailed by one person [TS]

01:05:58   disagreeing which is my problem with the [TS]

01:05:59   Avengers episode and it's not Andy [TS]

01:06:01   having a his opinion I think that's fine [TS]

01:06:03   i disagree with it but I think it's [TS]

01:06:05   great that he had it i think how I [TS]

01:06:06   handled that episode is why I don't like [TS]

01:06:09   it so much because I felt like I let and [TS]

01:06:11   ego and and it became about him instead [TS]

01:06:15   of it just being about all of us and our [TS]

01:06:17   opinions of the movie so well and [TS]

01:06:18   speaking of the Politburo thing it's not [TS]

01:06:20   like we get together and like all right [TS]

01:06:21   guys we think of this party the party [TS]

01:06:23   line for the inaudible is that we all [TS]

01:06:25   like this but we didn't like this one [TS]

01:06:27   thing right here but overall we really [TS]

01:06:28   liked it at the first time we're talking [TS]

01:06:30   to each other at all about it usually is [TS]

01:06:31   on the podcast yeah and we've been [TS]

01:06:33   beforehand we say save it for the [TS]

01:06:35   podcast right yeah I try I try to not [TS]

01:06:37   reveal what I thought of something [TS]

01:06:39   you know on Twitter or whatever before [TS]

01:06:41   we do an episode so I did you go and not [TS]

01:06:43   know I still don't know what John [TS]

01:06:45   thought about half the things i was [TS]

01:06:46   turned up like where it's really not the [TS]

01:06:48   show's charter to argue about stuff in [TS]

01:06:51   that the purpose of the show is to sit [TS]

01:06:52   around and chat about stuff and there's [TS]

01:06:54   plenty of places that do that and it [TS]

01:06:56   disconnected i would say more [TS]

01:06:58   I can't even imagine the the kind of [TS]

01:06:59   feedback you would get if you started [TS]

01:07:01   going that direction and deliberately [TS]

01:07:03   got people on that we're going to [TS]

01:07:04   disagree vehemently with each right [TS]

01:07:05   right that's why I don't want to do it i [TS]

01:07:07   think the setting is a better as a [TS]

01:07:09   better term for what we do when we like [TS]

01:07:10   it or dislike it we talked about this [TS]

01:07:12   section we talk about well you know we [TS]

01:07:14   we as I you know a bunch of people [TS]

01:07:17   pointed out and of course this is [TS]

01:07:18   something that John has done his other [TS]

01:07:19   podcast to I mean you can like something [TS]

01:07:21   and still kind of admit the flaws i mean [TS]

01:07:24   what we've done a lot of episodes the [TS]

01:07:25   wrath of khan episode was entirely [TS]

01:07:27   people who love and just absolutely [TS]

01:07:29   adore that that movie and then Steve I [TS]

01:07:33   adore to and and uh you know we picked [TS]

01:07:36   it apart in so many different ways but [TS]

01:07:38   in the end it was all with love right [TS]

01:07:40   and and still the star wars movies are [TS]

01:07:41   like that when I was because we love we [TS]

01:07:44   know occasionally we will destroy [TS]

01:07:45   something like man of steel or star wars [TS]

01:07:47   episode one and some people don't like [TS]

01:07:50   that because they they prefer us and out [TS]

01:07:53   there was a nice piece of feedback on [TS]

01:07:55   Twitter from michael johnson dr wave at [TS]

01:07:57   Pixar was a very nice guy who said I I [TS]

01:08:00   you know I really prefer when you guys [TS]

01:08:01   talk about something you like and [TS]

01:08:04   tearing apart something that you didn't [TS]

01:08:06   like it's sort of like a waste of time [TS]

01:08:07   because they're you know it's that's [TS]

01:08:10   they're just better things to do more [TS]

01:08:12   constructive things to do with one's [TS]

01:08:13   time and I think you know I i enjoy the [TS]

01:08:16   episode 10 episode but I wouldn't have [TS]

01:08:18   every episode be that and I do like the [TS]

01:08:21   idea of us under things were [TS]

01:08:22   enthusiastic about and then picking them [TS]

01:08:24   apart with enthusiasm and love not [TS]

01:08:27   picking them apart because we want to [TS]

01:08:29   destroy them because I just think about [TS]

01:08:31   the person who was like crying laughing [TS]

01:08:33   listening to the Phantom Menace episode [TS]

01:08:35   would you deny that person their [TS]

01:08:36   enjoyment just because you don't like [TS]

01:08:37   the kind of episode and vice versa that [TS]

01:08:39   you know different strokes but we want [TS]

01:08:41   every episode is not going to be that [TS]

01:08:42   episode 1 episode but every now and then [TS]

01:08:44   we will we will do that and and and [TS]

01:08:46   that's fine that you know when I was in [TS]

01:08:48   college I took creative writing course [TS]

01:08:50   where we got created on our criticism of [TS]

01:08:52   the others [TS]

01:08:53   good stories not on our short story and [TS]

01:08:56   I I brought some people to tears in that [TS]

01:09:00   class uh-huh [TS]

01:09:02   you got me but you know what that's just [TS]

01:09:03   part of it i mean that's just it's it [TS]

01:09:06   it's not done and out of malice it's [TS]

01:09:09   done out of you know trying to see if [TS]

01:09:11   you're critiquing somebody's writing [TS]

01:09:13   you're trying to accept that one guy he [TS]

01:09:14   made me really angry know so I said [TS]

01:09:16   story with that [TS]

01:09:16   no it's not malice it's eerie trying to [TS]

01:09:19   help somebody if they're working on [TS]

01:09:20   something or you're trying to understand [TS]

01:09:21   a work of some kind i take that part [TS]

01:09:24   that poor zombie ladies probably crying [TS]

01:09:26   right now [TS]

01:09:26   yeah i'm sure into her money she's [TS]

01:09:29   wiping her face with thousand-dollar [TS]

01:09:30   bills [TS]

01:09:31   yeah a friend of mine high school wrote [TS]

01:09:33   he was in a writing class and he wrote [TS]

01:09:34   an essay that was called this a personal [TS]

01:09:36   statement and he turned in only the [TS]

01:09:38   teacher graded it and she want it long [TS]

01:09:40   he did not go back to the class that I [TS]

01:09:43   am was Al Pacino yikes sorry I just [TS]

01:09:45   assumed it had to and with no had to end [TS]

01:09:47   with some sort of blending right like I [TS]

01:09:49   had to be just friends you know and then [TS]

01:09:51   he was out between us mailman it turns [TS]

01:09:53   out I you know when I when I was done [TS]

01:09:55   with that critique adventure story class [TS]

01:09:57   the teacher said well now that Jason's [TS]

01:09:59   put away surgical tools that I was like [TS]

01:10:01   okay maybe maybe I overdid it a little [TS]

01:10:03   bit but you know where is the Midwest [TS]

01:10:05   where you grew up in California you so [TS]

01:10:08   people out that's interesting [TS]

01:10:11   we have surgical tools here people and [TS]

01:10:15   we have no idea live here and there is [TS]

01:10:17   this thing there is that idea that you [TS]

01:10:18   should be insulated that certain things [TS]

01:10:19   should not be criticized p like other [TS]

01:10:22   environments in which criticism is meant [TS]

01:10:24   to be tepid praise or may very tepid you [TS]

01:10:28   know it's sort of bland application of [TS]

01:10:31   things and it's like I think you know [TS]

01:10:32   real criticism is can be hard feedback [TS]

01:10:35   and I think that's down the line i [TS]

01:10:37   disagree i'll take my stupid ideas and [TS]

01:10:39   hit the ground [TS]

01:10:40   alright it is it is fun you know it's [TS]

01:10:42   fun to talk about stuff that we that we [TS]

01:10:44   like or that we think is interesting i [TS]

01:10:47   think the worst episodes would be the [TS]

01:10:49   ones where we were trying to take apart [TS]

01:10:50   something that had that had nothing in [TS]

01:10:53   it i mean John quite nicely i keep [TS]

01:10:56   referring to the flophouse this [TS]

01:10:57   wonderful podcast John syracuse [TS]

01:10:59   recommended to me which I love fantastic [TS]

01:11:01   hilariously funny podcast they see bad [TS]

01:11:04   movies and some of the movie [TS]

01:11:05   they have a lot to talk about even if [TS]

01:11:07   they're mostly movies that they call the [TS]

01:11:09   bad bad movies their movies that are not [TS]

01:11:11   even so bad it's funny they're just bad [TS]

01:11:13   but there are ones where they'll go half [TS]

01:11:15   an hour talking about what happens in [TS]

01:11:16   the matter how bizarre and bad they are [TS]

01:11:18   and then there are others where they [TS]

01:11:19   talk for five minutes and they're like I [TS]

01:11:20   I have nothing more to say about it and [TS]

01:11:22   that too much in my line that's the [TS]

01:11:24   worst kind of thing for us to talk about [TS]

01:11:25   is the thing that's uninteresting [TS]

01:11:27   whether we like it or hate it if we can [TS]

01:11:29   find some interesting stuff about it [TS]

01:11:31   then it's worth talking about [TS]

01:11:33   we need some sort of a tag on each [TS]

01:11:35   episode saying hateful episode here [TS]

01:11:37   that's right the danger for the [TS]

01:11:40   audience's when they when people have [TS]

01:11:42   some part of their self-worth or [TS]

01:11:45   identity tied up in some yeah media [TS]

01:11:48   thing and any criticism of that thing is [TS]

01:11:51   that they take on as like you know an [TS]

01:11:53   attack on themselves because they [TS]

01:11:54   identify so strong with it's their [TS]

01:11:56   favorite movie and if we say it's done [TS]

01:11:58   then we're saying that they're dumb yeah [TS]

01:11:59   I'm like that that whole cycle happens [TS]

01:12:01   and to some degree that's unavoidable I [TS]

01:12:03   mean like I didn't we all think that's [TS]

01:12:05   that's a big deal like you know we talk [TS]

01:12:07   about movies that you can understand [TS]

01:12:09   that if you're making some fun of [TS]

01:12:10   someone's removing a lot of us are you [TS]

01:12:12   working a tech industry you understand [TS]

01:12:13   how like if you talk about android vs [TS]

01:12:16   iOS or in the old days you know mac vs [TS]

01:12:18   windows people will get tied up with [TS]

01:12:19   that but when I briefly did a car [TS]

01:12:21   related podcast i found even more [TS]

01:12:23   virulent strain of this thing people [TS]

01:12:25   identify incredibly strong with cars and [TS]

01:12:28   car brands to the degree that we would [TS]

01:12:30   get hate mail merely because we didn't [TS]

01:12:32   you ever mention a particular make and [TS]

01:12:35   model of car like I think a lot of that [TS]

01:12:37   has cut these feedback that we get I [TS]

01:12:39   don't like your negative episodes it a [TS]

01:12:42   lot of that I I mean maybe everything [TS]

01:12:43   like it was like it's not that it didn't [TS]

01:12:46   like your negative episode so that i [TS]

01:12:47   really like the thing that you were [TS]

01:12:48   criticizing like rarely do i hear i [TS]

01:12:51   really hated that movie too but I didn't [TS]

01:12:52   like your negative episode about it like [TS]

01:12:54   I really hear that one that's why [TS]

01:12:56   nobody's like man that phantom menace [TS]

01:12:57   episode was terrible i got a couple of [TS]

01:12:59   selected the people the people who liked [TS]

01:13:02   Phantom Menace said that you know I'm [TS]

01:13:03   saying like the steelers those people [TS]

01:13:05   are diluted I think some people don't [TS]

01:13:06   like us they like us here at me like he [TS]

01:13:09   was getting excited about things we like [TS]

01:13:11   and don't like us tearing get excited [TS]

01:13:14   about things come together hate yeah [TS]

01:13:16   well I rather talk about things that I [TS]

01:13:18   like case in point I don't enjoy talking [TS]

01:13:20   about the works of your grant but I have [TS]

01:13:22   to yes because it is part of our premise [TS]

01:13:26   right but we wouldn't choose to read [TS]

01:13:28   mirror grant for an episode we're [TS]

01:13:30   reading mira grant for for the hugo [TS]

01:13:32   episode and it just so happens to have [TS]

01:13:34   been nominated that's not it's not like [TS]

01:13:35   we keep reading those books it's like oh [TS]

01:13:38   boy i get the rib and believe me we'd [TS]

01:13:40   rather not read those boys but she seems [TS]

01:13:42   so nice on Twitter awesome i'm sure [TS]

01:13:44   she's a lovely person i'm not but a [TS]

01:13:46   horrible writer stop right but I don't [TS]

01:13:48   know her so she may be gonna make her [TS]

01:13:49   cry again no into her money not crying [TS]

01:13:52   crying sure she's local here she could [TS]

01:13:54   come on my house and punch me in the [TS]

01:13:56   face she might you might [TS]

01:13:58   so curse you curse you evil in the ocean [TS]

01:14:00   yhu give her a converted to get your [TS]

01:14:03   book when you get your books published [TS]

01:14:04   asian so write a scathing yes that's [TS]

01:14:07   right i think the moral of this [TS]

01:14:09   criticism is not everybody likes [TS]

01:14:11   everything [TS]

01:14:12   yeah well as well though it's reasonable [TS]

01:14:15   Steve stop being reason crazy talk [TS]

01:14:17   go ahead Steve tell me to eat it [TS]

01:14:21   you said oh you'd like the same when you [TS]

01:14:26   ask for Jason but we should thank [TS]

01:14:29   jonathan for his very well thought out [TS]

01:14:30   yes because he actually went to iTunes [TS]

01:14:33   and wrote a small novel [TS]

01:14:35   yes I using something in patent program [TS]

01:14:38   but he spent time to rethink it out and [TS]

01:14:41   and put it well thought-out criticism [TS]

01:14:42   together and yes absolutely [TS]

01:14:44   thank you I'm just said it was invalid [TS]

01:14:47   by his dislike of the dnd episode and if [TS]

01:14:49   he had only done so a week later he [TS]

01:14:51   could have been entered in this [TS]

01:14:52   wonderful contest [TS]

01:14:53   sorry Jonathan well yeah it's too bad [TS]

01:14:55   and yes Scott he didn't like the dnd [TS]

01:14:58   episodes and that's too bad but again [TS]

01:15:00   the dnd episodes we're not we're not a [TS]

01:15:02   dnd podcast and and not yeah yet but [TS]

01:15:07   we'll throw those in every note now that [TS]

01:15:09   is mostly as bonuses or if there was a [TS]

01:15:11   week that I was not going to find [TS]

01:15:12   anything else to post because of travel [TS]

01:15:14   vacation or something so that was good [TS]

01:15:17   stuff right I'm out of feedback that's [TS]

01:15:19   all the feedback I have and I've [TS]

01:15:22   announced the contest the itunes review [TS]

01:15:23   contest now now we just have to make [TS]

01:15:26   more podcasts to get more feedback [TS]

01:15:28   yeah we just create our own feedback and [TS]

01:15:31   skip the party right well so our next [TS]

01:15:34   episode [TS]

01:15:35   what's our next episode about I i can [TS]

01:15:38   actually nothing [TS]

01:15:39   no injuries forward promotes our next [TS]

01:15:41   episode will be the the long-awaited [TS]

01:15:43   hugo awards episode tricks all I'm [TS]

01:15:47   waiting for that [TS]

01:15:48   yes yeah i got a book fishery yes that [TS]

01:15:52   that that's going to be that's gonna be [TS]

01:15:54   big [TS]

01:15:55   I think by a by the math I've done I [TS]

01:15:59   should almost be done with 2312 by the [TS]

01:16:02   year 2312 yeah very close very close and [TS]

01:16:05   then i'm hoping so I I something else if [TS]

01:16:07   you're listening to this shortly [TS]

01:16:09   well okay most of you will probably be [TS]
