00:05:54 ◼   ► interplay between writer and artist he's [TS]

00:06:33 ◼   ► favorite comic-book camel every effort [TS]

00:06:36 ◼   ► but what really got me is when you are [TS]

00:06:42 ◼   ► Clint go to shoot an arrow and as kate [TS]

00:06:45 ◼   ► says well that's cool you watch him [TS]

00:06:48 ◼   ► break down the process of shooting the [TS]

00:06:49 ◼   ► arrow and having it land and you watch [TS]

00:06:53 ◼   ► her mouth make all of the different [TS]

00:06:54 ◼   ► sounds as you go through the process and [TS]

00:06:56 ◼   ► you see a time dilation and it's just [TS]

00:06:58 ◼   ► such a smart visual storytelling [TS]

00:07:00 ◼   ► mechanism and it says so much about the [TS]

00:07:02 ◼   ► two of them in in just a page and a half [TS]

00:07:04 ◼   ► and I thought oh my god this this is not [TS]

00:07:06 ◼   ► one you can read once you're going to [TS]

00:07:07 ◼   ► have to keep reading it over and over [TS]

00:07:09 ◼   ► again to pick up all of the things [TS]

00:07:10 ◼   ► because it's just so well thought out [TS]

00:07:12 ◼   ► just from the composition of the panels [TS]

00:07:14 ◼   ► on out that time slows down as you watch [TS]

00:07:18 ◼   ► him get ready to shoot his [TS]

00:07:19 ◼   ► arrow and there and you see her 14 [TS]

00:07:22 ◼   ► panels have her slowly saying a couple [TS]

00:07:25 ◼   ► of madly truly amazing also as someone [TS]

00:07:29 ◼   ► who can't draw i was impressed how much [TS]

00:07:31 ◼   ► like you can see the lip movements and [TS]

00:07:33 ◼   ► everything all the sounds like I was [TS]

00:07:35 ◼   ► like that that person gets more command [TS]

00:07:37 ◼   ► know and I gotta love the restricted [TS]

00:07:39 ◼   ► palette that they use for the whole [TS]

00:07:41 ◼   ► comic oh yeah the color choices are [TS]

00:07:44 ◼   ► fantastic it's just there's no detail on [TS]

00:07:47 ◼   ► this that something clearly i get the [TS]

00:07:50 ◼   ► fun they beat every issue to the ground [TS]

00:07:51 ◼   ► and I'm sure drives them crazy and God [TS]

00:07:53 ◼   ► bless them for doing it because the [TS]

00:07:54 ◼   ► final product is just superb [TS]

00:07:56 ◼   ► so I want to come back to the coloring [TS]

00:07:58 ◼   ► matt hollingsworth colorist is credited [TS]

00:08:00 ◼   ► on the coverage he is an integral part [TS]

00:08:02 ◼   ► of this comic and does a spectacular job [TS]

00:08:06 ◼   ► but but before we get there let me move [TS]

00:08:10 ◼   ► on and ask Merlin so how did you hear [TS]

00:08:14 ◼   ► about this and and what drew you to it [TS]

00:08:17 ◼   ► um i don't remember exactly but it was [TS]

00:08:20 ◼   ► in the midst of my recent plunge into [TS]

00:08:23 ◼   ► comics kind of taking off like a very [TS]

00:08:25 ◼   ► first was getting way into comics you [TS]

00:08:28 ◼   ► know for the first time really since I [TS]

00:08:29 ◼   ► was a kid and I was taking advice from [TS]

00:08:32 ◼   ► everybody all around me and kept hearing [TS]

00:08:33 ◼   ► this din of like how can i think i was [TS]

00:08:36 ◼   ► always ahead post about this one comfort [TS]

00:08:38 ◼   ► grip but I had this long call with rob [TS]

00:08:40 ◼   ► corddry who I had no idea is a giant [TS]

00:08:42 ◼   ► comic nerd and he gave me this huge list [TS]

00:08:45 ◼   ► of like people I should check out [TS]

00:08:46 ◼   ► writers I should check out and one of [TS]

00:08:48 ◼   ► them was matt fraction and i think it [TS]

00:08:50 ◼   ► was around that time was probably around [TS]

00:08:51 ◼   ► i want to say like issue 3 and so I [TS]

00:08:54 ◼   ► jumped in and you know I first of all [TS]

00:08:57 ◼   ► all of the covers all of David oz davido [TS]

00:08:59 ◼   ► house covers I i think are just terrific [TS]

00:09:02 ◼   ► and they're not the same look as the you [TS]

00:09:06 ◼   ► know is as art inside but they're [TS]

00:09:09 ◼   ► immediately grabbed you and like you say [TS]

00:09:10 ◼   ► that the coloring is great but it's [TS]

00:09:12 ◼   ► really weird like I i liked it but but I [TS]

00:09:15 ◼   ► felt really challenged by it because [TS]

00:09:16 ◼   ► I've come out this through reading a lot [TS]

00:09:18 ◼   ► of x-men stuff like that and let me [TS]

00:09:20 ◼   ► explain this 14 times and in this case I [TS]

00:09:23 ◼   ► feel like I feel like such a dope it's [TS]

00:09:25 ◼   ► like Godfather to I feel like I could [TS]

00:09:26 ◼   ► read that first issue I mean like so [TS]

00:09:29 ◼   ► many of them like gosh i'm sure we'll [TS]

00:09:31 ◼   ► get into some some of the amazing [TS]

00:09:32 ◼   ► storytelling [TS]

00:09:33 ◼   ► out of sequence and stuff like that but [TS]

00:09:35 ◼   ► you it takes several readings to really [TS]

00:09:38 ◼   ► appreciate how good that first issue is [TS]

00:09:39 ◼   ► where they do the equivalent jump jump [TS]

00:09:41 ◼   ► cuts of you know you see you see Clint [TS]

00:09:44 ◼   ► and then you see something's gonna [TS]

00:09:45 ◼   ► happen it's the same face with the [TS]

00:09:46 ◼   ► different background and you know that [TS]

00:09:48 ◼   ► you know it's being told out of sequence [TS]

00:09:49 ◼   ► but I mean you know I guess I'm I maybe [TS]

00:09:53 ◼   ► will eventually become famous for crying [TS]

00:09:54 ◼   ► whenever you mix but when I got to that [TS]

00:09:56 ◼   ► last page that was it i mean i was i was [TS]

00:09:59 ◼   ► hooked and it's i don't know i don't [TS]

00:10:03 ◼   ► want to be too effusive but i think it's [TS]

00:10:04 ◼   ► a very good comic and and yes especially [TS]

00:10:06 ◼   ► around 6i I love every issue but around [TS]

00:10:10 ◼   ► issue 6 it kind of goes to a different [TS]

00:10:12 ◼   ► level as far as I'm concerned but that [TS]

00:10:15 ◼   ► first issue is so he mean I mean most of [TS]

00:10:18 ◼   ► what I know about hoc bai Hawkeyes what [TS]

00:10:20 ◼   ► everybody else is like one of those [TS]

00:10:21 ◼   ► annoying unpowered guys with us he says [TS]

00:10:23 ◼   ► a Paleolithic you know weapon but now [TS]

00:10:26 ◼   ► that was it for me and I've I now it's [TS]

00:10:28 ◼   ► it's my favorite comic now [TS]

00:10:29 ◼   ► well Tony what about you I think I was a [TS]

00:10:33 ◼   ► referred to hawkeye by my buddy Jeremy [TS]

00:10:36 ◼   ► Goldstein who is basically my comics [TS]

00:10:44 ◼   ► to go read and i usually i'm waiting for [TS]

00:11:10 ◼   ► yeah and you know i usually comics like [TS]

00:11:12 ◼   ► will take a long time to tell the story [TS]

00:11:14 ◼   ► they have something that plays out issue [TS]

00:11:15 ◼   ► after issue and you know they do the [TS]

00:11:17 ◼   ► thing where there's kind of a [TS]

00:11:18 ◼   ► cliffhanger to get you to buy the next [TS]

00:11:19 ◼   ► issue and there's so many little stories [TS]

00:11:21 ◼   ► in hock I completely not conceptualized [TS]

00:11:24 ◼   ► in my head as 11 comic books right it's [TS]

00:11:26 ◼   ► it's because there's so many stories in [TS]

00:11:28 ◼   ► there [TS]

00:11:28 ◼   ► yeah and and it starts with standalone [TS]

00:11:30 ◼   ► stories which is also a razor and these [TS]

00:11:32 ◼   ► days and especially in in mainstream [TS]

00:11:34 ◼   ► comics like Marvel Comics Dan did and [TS]

00:11:37 ◼   ► you Tony told you to write down [TS]

00:11:39 ◼   ► well I mean tony was one source i [TS]

00:11:41 ◼   ► usually have like multiple sources so I [TS]

00:11:43 ◼   ► i would say mainly learned about it from [TS]

00:11:44 ◼   ► this whole place called the internet [TS]

00:11:46 ◼   ► know which you may have been [TS]

00:11:47 ◼   ► netop knows one of those things where [TS]

00:11:48 ◼   ► it's a critical mass thing just imagine [TS]

00:11:59 ◼   ► someone tells you we talked and then [TS]

00:12:01 ◼   ► somewhere that for me that's always the [TS]

00:12:03 ◼   ► real test is if I hear about it from one [TS]

00:12:06 ◼   ► someone who is in no way connected to [TS]

00:12:07 ◼   ► the first source and also says like hey [TS]

00:12:09 ◼   ► this is really good and like yeah I [TS]

00:12:11 ◼   ► trust both of those people's opinions on [TS]

00:12:12 ◼   ► things so this is clearly the [TS]

00:12:13 ◼   ► intersection of what is really good and [TS]

00:12:15 ◼   ► tony is my life I think of him more as [TS]

00:12:17 ◼   ► my Jeremy filter because I jeremy has a [TS]

00:12:20 ◼   ► lot of comic books it's like drugs in [TS]

00:12:22 ◼   ► reverse and only getting the computer [TS]
