192: Murderous Roomba

00:00:00   the incomparable number 192 april 2014 [TS]

00:00:11   welcome back to be uncomfortable podcast [TS]

00:00:14   podcast that should be renamed the draft [TS]

00:00:16   cast because I when in doubt i like to [TS]

00:00:19   draft things and I like to have people [TS]

00:00:21   draft things and I thought this would be [TS]

00:00:22   a funny idea and so tonight we are [TS]

00:00:26   grafting robots / androids basically [TS]

00:00:30   they can't be computers we drafted [TS]

00:00:32   computers in our macro xbox episode this [TS]

00:00:34   year they need to be sort of mobile but [TS]

00:00:37   they can be robots or androids or you [TS]

00:00:40   know judges can judge about other sorts [TS]

00:00:42   of things but ideally kind of autonomous [TS]

00:00:44   artificial life-forms from all of space [TS]

00:00:48   and time from all different kinds of TV [TS]

00:00:51   and movies and books and comics and [TS]

00:00:52   anything else you can think of so we're [TS]

00:00:55   going to real-life can include real-life [TS]

00:00:57   you sure [TS]

00:00:58   awesome fine if you want to do that [TS]

00:01:01   Steve go ahead let me introduce my panel [TS]

00:01:04   of drafters will be joining me [TS]

00:01:06   we will be assembled five super teams of [TS]

00:01:08   the finest artificial intelligences [TS]

00:01:10   invented by people Steve let's who I [TS]

00:01:14   just exchanged pleasantries with hello [TS]

00:01:17   Steve top of the morning to you [TS]

00:01:19   top of the morning to you I was not told [TS]

00:01:21   that we would be producing super teams [TS]

00:01:22   so i will be producing barely adequate t [TS]

00:01:26   just call it a super team and that's all [TS]

00:01:28   nobody will ask questions it's super [TS]

00:01:30   adequate yeah let's find adequate [TS]

00:01:32   capacity is important [TS]

00:01:33   David laura is also assembling an [TS]

00:01:35   artificial intelligence uh task force [TS]

00:01:37   hello [TS]

00:01:38   I I suppose that's one word for it sure [TS]

00:01:40   sure i'm not trying to apply some level [TS]

00:01:44   of of obscenity to this insane thing I'd [TS]

00:01:47   spread of the near Jackson sure sure [TS]

00:01:50   Erica and sign also going to be [TS]

00:01:52   assembling her robot all-stars hello [TS]

00:01:55   hello [TS]

00:01:56   yeah I didn't realize it was supposed to [TS]

00:01:57   be a super team either so this is just [TS]

00:01:59   going to be a team that Eric is just [TS]

00:02:01   really excited to hang out with how [TS]

00:02:03   about that that's fine that's pretty [TS]

00:02:05   super in its own way that's right so [TS]

00:02:07   most people just go with this premise be [TS]

00:02:08   like yeah sure they're super whatever [TS]

00:02:10   but you guys are like man know about [TS]

00:02:12   that [TS]

00:02:12   not something I'm gonna be fine Monty [TS]

00:02:14   ashley is also out there he's going to [TS]

00:02:16   also assemble a list of robots hello [TS]

00:02:19   I will commit mostly to that description [TS]

00:02:23   it's mostly mostly a list of robots and [TS]

00:02:26   or androids maybe tree of robots it it's [TS]

00:02:30   there could be some logical form to it [TS]

00:02:33   and so here's how the draft order is [TS]

00:02:35   going to go it's been selected at random [TS]

00:02:36   by me [TS]

00:02:37   it's gonna be David Oh David then Monty [TS]

00:02:40   Oh America [TS]

00:02:41   oh then Steve yeah and i will go last [TS]

00:02:46   any Jason wait a minute you always go [TS]

00:02:47   last so technically I'm last in the [TS]

00:02:49   order now I'm always last [TS]

00:02:51   you're you're you're the worst of the [TS]

00:02:53   other people that goes without saying I [TS]

00:02:57   think your last year--last equals don't [TS]

00:03:02   feel bad Steve your-your-your equal in [TS]

00:03:04   my heart if not in the order i feel that [TS]

00:03:07   David lower you get the first pick of [TS]

00:03:09   any robot or Android ever [TS]

00:03:11   what would you like oh man see I [TS]

00:03:14   prepared this list of robots assuming [TS]

00:03:16   that I was gonna get you know they were [TS]

00:03:18   all gonna get picked out from under me [TS]

00:03:19   so i just i started going obscure but [TS]

00:03:22   you know what I'm gonna go with robby [TS]

00:03:23   the robot ah from Forbidden Planet nice [TS]

00:03:27   gotta check that off my list and and a [TS]

00:03:31   movie called the invisible boy where [TS]

00:03:33   he's supposed to be the same robot as in [TS]

00:03:37   forbidden planet which is kind of weird [TS]

00:03:39   so what makes Robby the Robot mean what [TS]

00:03:43   makes Robby the Robot interesting and [TS]

00:03:44   what makes them different from the robot [TS]

00:03:46   that's in lost in space [TS]

00:03:47   well because I could never tell those [TS]

00:03:50   two apart he actually appeared lost in [TS]

00:03:53   space once but he's not the danger Will [TS]

00:03:56   Robinson robot now that's just the robot [TS]

00:03:58   alright he's referred to as the robot [TS]

00:04:01   okay yeah he is he's a little more [TS]

00:04:03   interesting he's gone [TS]

00:04:05   you know just a more interesting design [TS]

00:04:07   with all his sort of Clockwork [TS]

00:04:09   mechanisms that are visible and he was [TS]

00:04:12   on the the twilight zone at least once [TS]

00:04:15   to because basically built this thing in [TS]

00:04:17   there Michael cheese we built a robot [TS]

00:04:19   reported in things now what do you do [TS]

00:04:21   with it [TS]

00:04:22   yeah it's like a guy it's like he's sort [TS]

00:04:24   of like the Michelin Man with a dome for [TS]

00:04:26   ahead [TS]

00:04:27   yes and and like one thing sticking out [TS]

00:04:30   the side of his head one thing sticking [TS]

00:04:31   at the top of his head and doesn't look [TS]

00:04:35   very comfortable to move in but where [TS]

00:04:37   what does but i just i remember seeing [TS]

00:04:42   the invisible boy years and years ago [TS]

00:04:45   after had seen forbidden planet and [TS]

00:04:47   thinking well it's great that they [TS]

00:04:48   reused him but then you know it was [TS]

00:04:52   clear that you know this was a robot [TS]

00:04:53   sent back in time and this brilliant [TS]

00:04:57   child reassembles and when all the [TS]

00:04:58   scientists can't and and the more [TS]

00:05:01   complicated this movie got the more I [TS]

00:05:04   thought wow this is a really weird [TS]

00:05:06   little universe of its own because by [TS]

00:05:07   that point I was already thinking in [TS]

00:05:09   terms of your star trek universe and [TS]

00:05:10   star wars and Doctor Who and Galactica [TS]

00:05:12   you know they all have their own [TS]

00:05:13   existences and here's this you know [TS]

00:05:17   whoever knew that forbidden planet had [TS]

00:05:19   any other story connected to it but this [TS]

00:05:23   is a really strange story to connect to [TS]

00:05:26   it because it's it's about a little boy [TS]

00:05:28   who is lonely he has no friends and he [TS]

00:05:33   rebuilds this robot that's been sent [TS]

00:05:35   back in time when his father is just [TS]

00:05:37   going to destroy it because he can't [TS]

00:05:38   rebuild it and the robot becomes his [TS]

00:05:42   friend and then somehow grants him the [TS]

00:05:44   power of invisibility and so they go [TS]

00:05:47   around pulling pranks on people and then [TS]

00:05:49   it gets serious and weird and you know [TS]

00:05:52   it's it's not at all a good movie in [TS]

00:05:56   that stretch [TS]

00:05:57   um you know what I've seen this how have [TS]

00:05:59   I seen this may be familiar [TS]

00:06:01   well it's one of those things that you [TS]

00:06:03   just sort of run across at least you [TS]

00:06:04   know that's that's how i found it in the [TS]

00:06:06   eighties is on you know the middle of [TS]

00:06:09   the night after Saturday Night Live one [TS]

00:06:11   night and who robot sure as he has one [TS]

00:06:15   does as you do and I mean yeah I mean [TS]

00:06:18   literally the only reason i watched it [TS]

00:06:19   was because i love the robot i love i [TS]

00:06:21   love the clicking and flipping knows of [TS]

00:06:24   gears and mechanisms that are visible in [TS]

00:06:26   the dome which is you know after well [TS]

00:06:29   that's the only thing you really want to [TS]

00:06:31   pay attention to in the movie [TS]

00:06:32   well the swiss swiss engineers who built [TS]

00:06:35   all the gears to keep him [TS]

00:06:36   yes very impressive engineering their [TS]

00:06:38   clothes are ripped precision gears and [TS]

00:06:42   you know i mean the robot lost in space [TS]

00:06:44   a little bit of a ripoff but you know [TS]

00:06:48   and and I don't know if they were built [TS]

00:06:49   by the same [TS]

00:06:50   person or not they were they were they [TS]

00:06:53   were designed by the same person yeah [TS]

00:06:55   okay [TS]

00:06:56   he was not very original if we had one [TS]

00:06:59   good idea [TS]

00:07:00   well and I mean urban Ellen being [TS]

00:07:02   Rennell and he probably said make it [TS]

00:07:03   look as much like the robot as you can [TS]

00:07:05   because everyone Ellen ok but yeah I [TS]

00:07:12   mean forbidden planet is a great movie i [TS]

00:07:13   mean that's just you know it'sit's the [TS]

00:07:16   tempest in space and you know that's [TS]

00:07:19   pretty good template to go off clothes [TS]

00:07:20   for a mad scientist and exile every [TS]

00:07:25   night I still just remember shrieking [TS]

00:07:29   monsters from the CID when I was about [TS]

00:07:32   eight and didn't want to go to bed and [TS]

00:07:34   my mother knew even then it's just a lot [TS]

00:07:38   of God you David it audience and [TS]

00:07:40   incidentally bit of incomparable related [TS]

00:07:42   trivia movie the fellow inside the suit [TS]

00:07:45   operating the robot an uncredited [TS]

00:07:48   Frankie Darrow who who previously [TS]

00:07:51   appeared in The Phantom Empire cereal [TS]

00:07:54   Gene Autry he was there the young young [TS]

00:07:58   boy Robin a robot comin through it it's [TS]

00:08:03   like that you've gotta get my cardboard [TS]

00:08:05   oiled bit of a nishan reform Frankie [TS]

00:08:07   dares that's great it's yeah interesting [TS]

00:08:10   all right Robbie the robot Robby the [TS]

00:08:12   Robot fair enough but is the name is a [TS]

00:08:14   famous he's one of the more famous [TS]

00:08:15   robots Monty it's your turn to pick a [TS]

00:08:18   robot [TS]

00:08:19   well since I'm so early in the list [TS]

00:08:21   obviously the main thing you want a [TS]

00:08:24   robot for is to be your pal to hang out [TS]

00:08:26   with to watch movies with yes [TS]

00:08:29   so I'm gonna have to pick protein robot [TS]

00:08:32   ah he has the word robot writing his [TS]

00:08:37   name you take the bad one excuse me sir [TS]

00:08:41   I'm a servo man i'm i'm a server means [TS]

00:08:44   with servo can't even walk out of the [TS]

00:08:46   theater i'm with you want i love crow [TS]

00:08:48   wisecracker easy west and I'm different [TS]

00:08:52   it it technically and taking the tres [TS]

00:08:57   blue version of crow with that's [TS]

00:08:59   necessary that is that well it's not [TS]

00:09:01   necessary but I appreciate your [TS]

00:09:04   careful consideration yeah bill Corbett [TS]

00:09:07   will be heartbroken [TS]

00:09:08   me and my robot pal have many pleasant [TS]

00:09:10   hours making fun of tell making fun of [TS]

00:09:12   movies and television y that so he's a a [TS]

00:09:15   bowling pin sod in half [TS]

00:09:18   I'll across mass case what else there's [TS]

00:09:21   a soap dish holding two ping-pong balls [TS]

00:09:24   and his body is a tupperware flora [TS]

00:09:27   leaders set or originally anyway [TS]

00:09:30   obviously they'd back you formulas [TS]

00:09:32   pieces they had a whole bunch of them [TS]

00:09:33   floor layers at the shape or is that the [TS]

00:09:36   name of somebody who designed that [TS]

00:09:38   particular tupperware set [TS]

00:09:39   it's the name of the shape i think it [TS]

00:09:43   was out of print by the time [TS]

00:09:45   crow showed up so it's very hard to find [TS]

00:09:47   very clever [TS]

00:09:49   makes knocking off kurti robot more [TS]

00:09:51   difficult geeks out there the great name [TS]

00:09:53   for a baby daughter or just name your [TS]

00:09:57   daughter crow I mean people love [TS]

00:09:59   Corbett's i always love grow and we have [TS]

00:10:06   more to say about credible or we hit the [TS]

00:10:08   lightning round already with the second [TS]

00:10:09   pic my life i love crow crow is screw is [TS]

00:10:12   great and Enes that bowling pin mouth [TS]

00:10:15   there's a optical illusion named after [TS]

00:10:18   him I think that's kind of neat how cool [TS]

00:10:21   that way you can tell if housing forward [TS]

00:10:23   or backwards right yeah yeah he is [TS]

00:10:26   facing the screen but it's really easy [TS]

00:10:28   to convince yourself he's facing the [TS]

00:10:29   camera when he's in silhouette I did [TS]

00:10:31   that a couple of times when i first [TS]

00:10:33   started watching the show was like [TS]

00:10:34   what's going on [TS]

00:10:36   stop looking at me so why they're [TS]

00:10:39   looking at me [TS]

00:10:40   uh okay crow T robot that's great the T [TS]

00:10:43   stands for probably the probably them [TS]

00:10:48   also Tiberius we would have Erika you [TS]

00:10:52   get to pick a robot now crows off the [TS]

00:10:54   board but cambot is still available and [TS]

00:10:56   gypsy go crazy and gypsy i had actually [TS]

00:10:58   written not as my first pick but I had [TS]

00:11:00   it somewhere down the line written Tom [TS]

00:11:02   servo crossed him out and put gypsy and [TS]

00:11:04   instead because I feel like she's very [TS]

00:11:05   under representative she's great [TS]

00:11:07   Richard besar but not my first pick [TS]

00:11:13   fulfilling my doctor who quota for the [TS]

00:11:16   day [TS]

00:11:16   since I think I'm required by contract [TS]

00:11:19   to mention dr. about every episode be [TS]

00:11:21   uncomfortable but i'm on i am going to [TS]

00:11:23   pick no surprise to anybody that knows [TS]

00:11:24   me canine I almost spotted UK night at [TS]

00:11:28   the beginning because I knew that was [TS]

00:11:29   where we were going here let the choice [TS]

00:11:31   mistress i will cry i will crash i will [TS]

00:11:34   cross him off my list because he was on [TS]

00:11:36   my list [TS]

00:11:36   yes I canine up here on Doctor Who first [TS]

00:11:39   in 1977 in the story the invisible enemy [TS]

00:11:42   voiced very well by John Leeson at that [TS]

00:11:45   point later on they decided that canine [TS]

00:11:47   had a robot laryngitis because John [TS]

00:11:51   Leeson left the show that is briefly [TS]

00:11:53   voiced by David brierley and then John [TS]

00:11:55   Leeson came back to his lair just got [TS]

00:11:57   better [TS]

00:11:58   so um yay he got they got him some robot [TS]

00:12:01   dog mom [TS]

00:12:03   I adore canine and it's probably a lot [TS]

00:12:05   of nostalgia involved in this i was i [TS]

00:12:07   was a kid the first time I saw him and I [TS]

00:12:09   was just like talking metal doggy [TS]

00:12:12   what more could you ask for as a kid it [TS]

00:12:14   was just he was super smart he was [TS]

00:12:16   completely smug he took everything [TS]

00:12:18   literally and I was kind of one of those [TS]

00:12:20   obnoxious literal kids that would just [TS]

00:12:22   you know do everything my parents told [TS]

00:12:24   me to to the letter of the who what they [TS]

00:12:27   said [TS]

00:12:27   instead of this spirit of it so he got [TS]

00:12:30   my good side that way but canines [TS]

00:12:32   interesting because there are a number [TS]

00:12:34   of canines I think we're up to mark for [TS]

00:12:36   at this point because the very first [TS]

00:12:39   canine decided to stay on the doctors [TS]

00:12:40   home planet with one of his companions [TS]

00:12:42   second canine got trapped nasai except [TS]

00:12:45   well he's decided to stay with another [TS]

00:12:48   of the doctor's companions in east mesa [TS]

00:12:50   a pocket universe [TS]

00:12:52   don't ask by the way don't ask about a [TS]

00:12:54   space yeah you really don't want the [TS]

00:12:56   details the canine marks three actually [TS]

00:12:59   did not appear in doctor who had all [TS]

00:13:01   that was a spinoff series canine and [TS]

00:13:04   company which didn't really go anywhere [TS]

00:13:06   really [TS]

00:13:07   spinoff pilot that that fails i got a [TS]

00:13:11   great theme song mailman themes lot with [TS]

00:13:14   k-9 and company it's your very close [TS]

00:13:18   Steve it is accepting more eighties dude [TS]

00:13:21   it to do get I it's a super Kathy catchy [TS]

00:13:25   theme song [TS]

00:13:25   k nite the opening credits are online [TS]

00:13:28   highly recommended [TS]

00:13:30   oh it there so eighties you see Sarah [TS]

00:13:32   Jane's Sarah Jane Smith is sitting like [TS]

00:13:35   on the porch wearing leg warmers [TS]

00:13:36   drinking a glass of red wine it just [TS]

00:13:38   doesn't get any better than that [TS]

00:13:39   opening theme song i recommend you guys [TS]

00:13:41   go and check it out because it's great [TS]

00:13:43   and that canine from canine company is [TS]

00:13:46   actually the canine that then appeared [TS]

00:13:48   later in the new version of Doctor Who [TS]

00:13:51   in school reunion went 3rd gen came back [TS]

00:13:53   and he sacrificed himself to the end of [TS]

00:13:56   that story was very sad but then the [TS]

00:13:58   doctor whipped up canine mark for and [TS]

00:14:00   that is who is one of the costars of the [TS]

00:14:02   sarah jane adventures another spin-off [TS]

00:14:04   this one which actually took it [TS]

00:14:07   somewhere rather than being cancelled [TS]

00:14:08   after the pilot and we're canine is a [TS]

00:14:11   lesser character and not be center of [TS]

00:14:13   attention as in gay night and company [TS]

00:14:15   surging your company just company i was [TS]

00:14:18   just gonna say the shifted the focus the [TS]

00:14:20   right way this time [TS]

00:14:21   yes yep they got it to work I love that [TS]

00:14:24   school reunion episode 2i I always [TS]

00:14:26   thought about k management co this [TS]

00:14:27   ridiculous thing that was in the old [TS]

00:14:29   doctor who along with all the other [TS]

00:14:30   ridiculous things when they brought him [TS]

00:14:32   back not only does it have this intense [TS]

00:14:33   feeling of nostalgia but i love how he's [TS]

00:14:35   he's at first played for laughs like why [TS]

00:14:38   you have what you have the tin dog and [TS]

00:14:39   then there's a wonderful moment where [TS]

00:14:41   where Mickey roses sometime boyfriend [TS]

00:14:43   realizes that his place in the modern [TS]

00:14:46   Doctor Who cassie is the robot dog and [TS]

00:14:50   it really lays him low is like oh god [TS]

00:14:52   I'm the 10 dog it's a wonderful man and [TS]

00:14:54   where to realize your cane I just like [TS]

00:14:56   out out out even canine is kind of mean [TS]

00:14:59   to Mickey yeah yeah really is that and I [TS]

00:15:03   mean I i think another reason that they [TS]

00:15:05   did that is because the day actors [TS]

00:15:06   absolutely hated working with that dog [TS]

00:15:09   prop back in the in the seventies and [TS]

00:15:11   eighties because it couldn't go over [TS]

00:15:13   terrain of any comment over terrain they [TS]

00:15:16   had to crouch down to talk to him they [TS]

00:15:17   would sometimes actually a trip over him [TS]

00:15:19   that the noise was so much that it would [TS]

00:15:22   pick it up they have to reshoot scenes [TS]

00:15:24   because motors and servos for too noisy [TS]

00:15:26   he could only turn right very easily [TS]

00:15:28   with it's pretty ridiculous [TS]

00:15:32   for canine that's all canine and they're [TS]

00:15:34   there is like a cgi produced in [TS]

00:15:37   Australia carpeting of card children's [TS]

00:15:39   cartoon TV show that is all about [TS]

00:15:42   keeping it [TS]

00:15:42   actually live action but he's canine is [TS]

00:15:45   in CGI and apparently has the ability to [TS]

00:15:47   regenerate that however it does not [TS]

00:15:48   technically take place in the Doctor Who [TS]

00:15:50   universe it's a not canonical at all [TS]

00:15:53   it's not no it's not b/c it's a bob [TS]

00:15:55   baker and Dave Martin who created the [TS]

00:15:56   character of canine still own the rights [TS]

00:15:58   decay nine so they were able to spin off [TS]

00:16:00   this show but they're not allowed to [TS]

00:16:01   actually like reference any of the [TS]

00:16:03   Doctor Who characters on that show we [TS]

00:16:05   don't speaking out we don't don't just [TS]

00:16:07   don't go fetch my sonic screwdriver [TS]

00:16:11   Oh No dopey oil in the TARDIS came at [TS]

00:16:15   you are you are very close but again [TS]

00:16:18   more since or require you steep you will [TS]

00:16:21   get to pick a robot now Steve ah ok i'm [TS]

00:16:24   so glad that erica is a doctor who and [TS]

00:16:27   can be pretty much guaranteed to go [TS]

00:16:28   Doctor Who because that means with mst3k [TS]

00:16:33   basically taken out of the running [TS]

00:16:35   I still get to pick one of my favorite [TS]

00:16:38   robots I turned 42 this year and i now [TS]

00:16:42   have an ipad with don't panic engraved [TS]

00:16:45   on the back so it only makes sense then [TS]

00:16:47   I would select Marvin the Paranoid [TS]

00:16:49   Android as my first draft pick [TS]

00:16:52   he is of course the ship's robot aboard [TS]

00:16:55   the heart of gold [TS]

00:16:56   I a prototype for the Sirius cybernetics [TS]

00:16:59   corporation is genuine people [TS]

00:17:01   personalities [TS]

00:17:02   naturally he's your plastic pal who's [TS]

00:17:04   fun to be with [TS]

00:17:06   he is a failed prototype receiving as he [TS]

00:17:09   did and utterly depressive personality [TS]

00:17:11   he spends most of his time griping about [TS]

00:17:14   the fact that he's millions of times [TS]

00:17:16   more intelligent than humans and yet [TS]

00:17:19   he's basically reduced to getting tea [TS]

00:17:21   for the crew [TS]

00:17:22   in fact i think it doesn't end up stuck [TS]

00:17:25   on a prehistoric planet and he just [TS]

00:17:27   forced us to wait there until [TS]

00:17:28   civilization kind of builds up around [TS]

00:17:31   him that sounds right [TS]

00:17:34   yes the way they're all the way until [TS]

00:17:35   the end of the universe [TS]

00:17:37   oh that's right that's they don't pick [TS]

00:17:40   him up until the end of the universe [TS]

00:17:41   that's right it's magical [TS]

00:17:45   yeah so yeah Marvin great well that was [TS]

00:17:48   a very good pic I guess [TS]

00:17:51   which version do you like the best I [TS]

00:17:53   favor book Marvin because i don't think [TS]

00:17:57   any of the actual TV show or movie [TS]

00:17:59   Marvins really captured it for me [TS]

00:18:01   although the original I think it's the [TS]

00:18:04   original TV show Marvin is pretty solid [TS]

00:18:06   because he looks he looks like he should [TS]

00:18:09   be depressed it's supported it live [TS]

00:18:13   don't talk to me about life he's great i [TS]

00:18:17   love you i love TV show Morgan pretty [TS]

00:18:19   solid Radiohead song came from him as [TS]

00:18:21   well [TS]

00:18:21   yes indeed you so I'm big fan of Marvin [TS]

00:18:24   in fact as as a high school speech team [TS]

00:18:28   a president I spent a year traveling [TS]

00:18:30   around the inland empire doing a really [TS]

00:18:33   awful depressed British accent it's part [TS]

00:18:35   of my universe interpretation good [TS]

00:18:37   speech [TS]

00:18:38   Steve Steve you and I have something [TS]

00:18:41   shocking in common which is my high [TS]

00:18:43   school speech class we had to do a we [TS]

00:18:47   had to perform a dialogue and the [TS]

00:18:48   dialogue i performed is processor and [TS]

00:18:51   Arthur Dent arguing about whether [TS]

00:18:53   they're going to demolish his house or [TS]

00:18:55   not nice to nerds as for me I'm saying [TS]

00:18:57   yeah you could say that nerds and I also [TS]

00:19:01   had to do a thing in in drama class and [TS]

00:19:05   in high school where was the we did for [TS]

00:19:07   dinner thur in the bar [TS]

00:19:09   wow I did nothing performative but it's [TS]

00:19:12   been several months engage in a vicious [TS]

00:19:14   game of hitchhikers guide to the galaxy [TS]

00:19:16   trivia with someone [TS]

00:19:18   ok the winning question was what color [TS]

00:19:20   is the sash that the president of the [TS]

00:19:23   universe where's oh wow there's a clear [TS]

00:19:27   turns out that orange oh well it's good [TS]

00:19:31   lawyer weren't any hitchhikers related [TS]

00:19:33   questions in the genus addition of 30 [TS]

00:19:35   you can because you would have mopped [TS]

00:19:39   the floor this all that quicker I feel [TS]

00:19:41   like everyone would have popped the [TS]

00:19:42   floor with everyone [TS]

00:19:43   no not me I came I came to hitchhiker's [TS]

00:19:46   guide to late didn't hit me right time [TS]

00:19:50   I'm reliving that was as my [TS]

00:19:52   twelve-year-old is just finished the [TS]

00:19:54   first one well cut him off after book [TS]

00:19:56   three or four [TS]

00:19:57   yes yeah 3 come over into the dirt [TS]

00:20:01   gently books I just skip for and go [TS]

00:20:04   straight that don't panic i like I'm not [TS]

00:20:05   don't panic [TS]

00:20:06   what is that was last but mostly [TS]

00:20:08   harmless mostly harmless i like that [TS]

00:20:10   actually and I know what that's a rarity [TS]

00:20:13   don't panic is neil gaiman his biography [TS]

00:20:14   of Douglas and that's right all right [TS]

00:20:17   Marvin the Paranoid Android very good [TS]

00:20:20   i'm up my choice I kind of can't believe [TS]

00:20:25   he's still out there [TS]

00:20:26   he's he's Star Trek's Pinocchio its data [TS]

00:20:31   mr. data the android who wishes he could [TS]

00:20:34   be a real boy he's got yellow yellow [TS]

00:20:37   eyes [TS]

00:20:38   oh yes uh he has sex with Tasha Yar one [TS]

00:20:44   point he adopts a daughter at another [TS]

00:20:47   point he has an emotion ship that's [TS]

00:20:49   faulty so sometimes he's scared and [TS]

00:20:50   lesser next-generation movies and then [TS]

00:20:53   he learns to control it but the adoption [TS]

00:20:55   one is one of the very few [TS]

00:20:56   next-generation episodes i've seen [TS]

00:20:58   what's her name is like little or law or [TS]

00:21:00   something law law it's really law [TS]

00:21:03   yeah lal yeah and measure of a man which [TS]

00:21:08   is one of my favorite next generation [TS]

00:21:09   episode where there's a court case to [TS]

00:21:11   determine whether data is sentient or [TS]

00:21:14   not which is a bit of a tearjerker [TS]

00:21:16   actually which would expect from a [TS]

00:21:18   sci-fi courtroom drama and yet it is [TS]

00:21:21   actually kind of emotional you know I [TS]

00:21:23   think I think data is is in some ways [TS]

00:21:25   the heart and soul of next-generation he [TS]

00:21:27   goes from being a kind of a spock [TS]

00:21:30   placeholder in the early days to being [TS]

00:21:34   interesting funny [TS]

00:21:37   very well done character / over time so [TS]

00:21:40   I'll of data and he has a cat he doesn't [TS]

00:21:43   get spot apparent apparently people [TS]

00:21:45   hated working with spot just like they [TS]

00:21:47   hated working with can hide and Brent [TS]

00:21:52   for brent Spiner I cannot imagine how [TS]

00:21:53   many hours he had to go through in [TS]

00:21:55   makeup everyday to have his funny little [TS]

00:21:57   metallic face paint probably gave him [TS]

00:21:59   horrible like poisoning symptoms heavy [TS]

00:22:02   metal boys [TS]

00:22:02   nothing but those yellow eyes were just [TS]

00:22:05   a side effect of the makeup that's right [TS]

00:22:08   he did need a contact that was that was [TS]

00:22:09   the lending a poison apple [TS]

00:22:11   alright so that's that's my back date [TS]

00:22:14   mr. data Lieutenant Commander data [TS]

00:22:16   David it's time for round two and that [TS]

00:22:19   means it's your turn round two [TS]

00:22:21   well now do intelligent computers [TS]

00:22:25   counter these only like only if they've [TS]

00:22:28   got a body if there if there any if ther [TS]

00:22:30   a computer then there in the computer [TS]

00:22:31   draft which we have already recorded [TS]

00:22:33   although you may not know the results of [TS]

00:22:34   it because it hasn't been posted yet so [TS]

00:22:37   i'll wait a minute wait a minute [TS]

00:22:38   yeah we're doing a eyes fall in the [TS]

00:22:40   scheme of things because to be a two to [TS]

00:22:42   be a robot or Android they must have a [TS]

00:22:45   they must have a body if they're defined [TS]

00:22:47   body is it okay if the computer controls [TS]

00:22:51   something that can move around or just [TS]

00:22:52   have to be human-shaped well we'll just [TS]

00:22:54   will will will judge that as a combat [TS]

00:22:58   adjusting my list as we speak [TS]

00:23:00   it's not the computer draft this is the [TS]

00:23:03   robot draft it's different [TS]

00:23:04   will how 9000 is not a robot [TS]

00:23:08   he has no bodies as justice he has a [TS]

00:23:11   spaceship for a body's ship is the body [TS]

00:23:13   no also he will kill you do not draft [TS]

00:23:17   him he will kill you all [TS]

00:23:19   now we can this is true oh now we can't [TS]

00:23:21   have murderous robot that's half my list [TS]

00:23:23   oh I just don't advise it you can have [TS]

00:23:25   you can have murders robots I just I'm [TS]

00:23:27   just as your friend advising you that [TS]

00:23:29   they will kill you if you drafted by Yul [TS]

00:23:31   Brynner when your brother in West world [TS]

00:23:34   is available your brother in the king [TS]

00:23:38   and I'm not available not a robot but [TS]

00:23:40   the room by robotic vacuum is still on [TS]

00:23:42   the board yes although also murderous so [TS]

00:23:46   be careful i'm gonna go with the robot [TS]

00:23:48   from the show i watched regularly when I [TS]

00:23:50   was little it is not very good i knew at [TS]

00:23:55   the time [TS]

00:23:56   biddy biddy biddy that it was not very [TS]

00:23:58   good [TS]

00:23:59   there you go BB hey back a butt and [TS]

00:24:04   you're gonna pick dr. Theophilus that's [TS]

00:24:06   right i was gonna I was gonna go for the [TS]

00:24:07   24 because you know TWiki without dr. [TS]

00:24:10   Theophilus kanda pouring all but with [TS]

00:24:13   dr. Theophilus he's our [TS]

00:24:15   bring ballpark a little less boring he [TS]

00:24:18   lights up TWiki as a robot you don't get [TS]

00:24:20   to pick both twiki and dr. Theophilus [TS]

00:24:21   dr. Theophilus team the chest hair [TS]

00:24:24   medallion of of computers portable [TS]

00:24:27   computers it was the late seventies you [TS]

00:24:29   get you can have TWiki but ya know I i [TS]

00:24:31   love Twinkie because you know Mel Blanc [TS]

00:24:33   how can you not like a voicemail blank [TS]

00:24:35   making fun of Buck the whole time with [TS]

00:24:39   that sort of like weird blend of [TS]

00:24:41   Yosemite Sam and Porky Pig going and and [TS]

00:24:46   just you know there was a point in 1988 [TS]

00:24:50   i think when i was on a date with a girl [TS]

00:24:53   who pointed out that the guitar riff all [TS]

00:24:57   throughout paul simon's graceland is [TS]

00:24:59   basically just a bbbj a buck right [TS]

00:25:03   oh my god wow so there you go Ricky [TS]

00:25:09   ok everybody hasn't seen buck walk [TS]

00:25:10   Rogers I just want to say that David [TS]

00:25:12   makes it seem better than hey man I want [TS]

00:25:16   to hang onto my fun memories from being [TS]

00:25:18   a kid don't you don't crush them so [TS]

00:25:21   don't go back and watch it [TS]

00:25:22   that's what I'm saying but it is mel [TS]

00:25:24   blanc voice of Bugs Bunny and Porky Pig [TS]

00:25:26   and many other characters being a [TS]

00:25:28   seventies TV disco robot [TS]

00:25:32   I don't know man aaron gray carries a [TS]

00:25:34   whole lot of goodwill on that show for [TS]

00:25:35   me i agree with you Steve I'm right [TS]

00:25:38   there with you [TS]

00:25:38   I thought the best part of that show was [TS]

00:25:40   the exterior spaceship shots they just [TS]

00:25:43   borrowed from Battlestar Galactica and [TS]

00:25:46   the helmets like I would have been [TS]

00:25:48   collected continue [TS]

00:25:49   yeah I'm with Steve Erin gray probably [TS]

00:25:52   the highlight pre a pre silver spoons [TS]

00:25:54   Erin gray she was only reason i watch [TS]

00:25:56   silver spoons [TS]

00:25:57   yeah well that in the giant train that [TS]

00:26:00   was cool she was blonde and inbox Rogers [TS]

00:26:02   the dark hair and silver spoons very [TS]

00:26:05   disturbing that I love to this first [TS]

00:26:07   season like white uniforms with the [TS]

00:26:09   rainbow cuffs on their their sleeves [TS]

00:26:11   that was there with those were nice haha [TS]

00:26:13   Monty it's your turn to pick a robot but [TS]

00:26:15   it does anybody know it has flavor flav [TS]

00:26:17   ever been seen sporting dr. Theophilus [TS]

00:26:19   some somebody should wear a dr. [TS]

00:26:23   Theophilus necklace because I anyway I [TS]

00:26:26   would think that was hilarious [TS]

00:26:27   yes Jason yes Monty kit is a robot [TS]

00:26:32   yeah as a computer sorry guess I in fact [TS]

00:26:35   it is a robot car it in fact spoiler [TS]

00:26:38   alert kit was a previous selection just [TS]

00:26:41   just the other day in our computer draft [TS]

00:26:44   and therefore i'm going to declare him [TS]

00:26:45   ineligible [TS]

00:26:47   how can you say that an automobile [TS]

00:26:48   doesn't have a body well I think it's a [TS]

00:26:50   vehicle i think computers controlling [TS]

00:26:52   vehicles are computers controlling [TS]

00:26:54   vehicles not robots where there's an [TS]

00:26:56   implication that there's some sort of [TS]

00:26:58   biological form that develop presenting [TS]

00:27:00   so well let let me suggest to you that [TS]

00:27:03   car car also ineligible automated roving [TS]

00:27:08   robot yeah alright that's nice but I'm [TS]

00:27:12   gonna I'm gonna say no to get 0 me and [TS]

00:27:15   crow are very disappointed because we [TS]

00:27:17   were going to have some fun huh [TS]

00:27:18   is that how you guys were going to get [TS]

00:27:19   around yeah can be mean probe to land [TS]

00:27:22   around kit i would watch that right so [TS]

00:27:26   I'm gonna go with something else with [TS]

00:27:28   the word robot its name [TS]

00:27:31   are you gonna tell me robot monster is [TS]

00:27:33   not a robot haha hi it's hardly it could [TS]

00:27:38   be like a Bigfoot it's hard to tell from [TS]

00:27:40   the costume it's difficult to tell if [TS]

00:27:42   it's purely organic with a kind of a [TS]

00:27:45   controlling thing or not but I if it is [TS]

00:27:47   in the title so i'll let you have Robot [TS]

00:27:49   Master if you like [TS]

00:27:51   alright then my pic is robot monster the [TS]

00:27:53   titular creature of some sort probably a [TS]

00:27:57   robot body humanity i must yet I cannot [TS]

00:28:00   he had on a gorilla suit and a fishbowl [TS]

00:28:06   kind of space helmet sort of diving [TS]

00:28:09   helmet with it within ten he lived in a [TS]

00:28:11   cave in los angeles where Kirk and Spock [TS]

00:28:14   used to go a lot and he had a big [TS]

00:28:17   communicating machine that sped out [TS]

00:28:21   bubbles [TS]

00:28:23   yes I can verify all of the blood [TS]

00:28:26   modulus said is true when I did the [TS]

00:28:28   bubbles actually come from the suit or [TS]

00:28:29   did that they were just like in the [TS]

00:28:31   vicinity right wherever he would appear [TS]

00:28:32   that they were from the communicator [TS]

00:28:34   machine i think oh ok ok not a while now [TS]

00:28:38   interestingly this robot is playing [TS]

00:28:40   laurence well [TS]

00:28:41   robot monster has not met crow but crow [TS]

00:28:44   has seen robot monster so i think we'll [TS]

00:28:46   all have something to talk about that [TS]

00:28:50   makes sense well planned out there [TS]

00:28:51   alright I think that helps to break the [TS]

00:28:54   ice robot monster probably a robot [TS]

00:28:57   probably robot will give that one to you [TS]

00:29:00   because I feel bad about it but it was [TS]

00:29:03   already picked so we can't we can't go [TS]

00:29:04   back there [TS]

00:29:05   he calls himself a row man at one point [TS]

00:29:07   roman' yes as opposed to the human robot [TS]

00:29:12   monster Erica what is your robot you get [TS]

00:29:18   to pick a robot now [TS]

00:29:19   ok I could have continued as Doctor Who [TS]

00:29:21   but i decided i would have to decide [TS]

00:29:23   from that lots more robots and Doctor [TS]

00:29:26   Who lots but instead of you got the best [TS]

00:29:29   robot you got the best one I really did [TS]

00:29:32   I really did [TS]

00:29:33   instead I'm gonna go with a different [TS]

00:29:34   British property and go with Crichton [TS]

00:29:37   from red dwarf oh I creating who [TS]

00:29:42   appeared first in the episode Crichton [TS]

00:29:44   in series too he wasn't actually [TS]

00:29:46   supposed to be a regular character he [TS]

00:29:48   was supposed to be a one-off he he rides [TS]

00:29:50   off on Lister's space bike at the end of [TS]

00:29:52   that episode to be trying to become cool [TS]

00:29:54   but then in the next season [TS]

00:29:56   Doug naylor realized we really kind of [TS]

00:29:59   need another character in here who can [TS]

00:30:00   do something because right at that time [TS]

00:30:02   they were there is a hologram [TS]

00:30:04   there was a humanoid sort of cat guy and [TS]

00:30:06   mr. knows it so I like we need to bring [TS]

00:30:09   him back so they did and the original [TS]

00:30:11   guy who was supposed to play him David [TS]

00:30:13   Ross who played him in that first [TS]

00:30:15   episode was unavailable he was doing [TS]

00:30:16   something so they found robert Llewellyn [TS]

00:30:18   instead and he became the Krytan that [TS]

00:30:20   most of us remember and know and love [TS]

00:30:23   so I and you may know him as the [TS]

00:30:25   original host of junkyard wars / [TS]

00:30:27   scrapheap challenge yes a wonderful [TS]

00:30:31   reality show and hosted by Crichton read [TS]

00:30:34   for mhm yeah Crichton was I his [TS]

00:30:37   personality always made me laugh because [TS]

00:30:39   he was a a lovely balance of completely [TS]

00:30:43   subservient because he was supposed to [TS]

00:30:45   be sort of just the the butler style [TS]

00:30:47   robot who developed the cooking and [TS]

00:30:48   cleaning and all that kind of stuff but [TS]

00:30:50   he had spent his early existence with [TS]

00:30:53   you know a whole bunch of [TS]

00:30:54   pretty ladies is what it looks like and [TS]

00:30:56   then a whole bunch of very pretty [TS]

00:30:57   Corpses for several here [TS]

00:30:59   yeah eventually because he went crazy [TS]

00:31:01   and then he and he ends up with webster [TS]

00:31:05   who's this lobbyists man in the universe [TS]

00:31:07   and he's very upset about it and I just [TS]

00:31:10   I like watching robert Llewellyn does a [TS]

00:31:12   great job with all that foam makeup on [TS]

00:31:14   his head of contorting his face far [TS]

00:31:17   enough that it actually can towards the [TS]

00:31:18   foam as well and that you can tell he's [TS]

00:31:20   very upset about things but he's always [TS]

00:31:22   nice about it when and sometimes I feel [TS]

00:31:24   a little bit like that i like the foam [TS]

00:31:26   face i like how would you get the [TS]

00:31:29   feeling that that's how Crichton has [TS]

00:31:30   been constructed as he sort of a a foam [TS]

00:31:33   a phone-based room but you can have my [TS]

00:31:36   bread Robert Llewellyn's book the man in [TS]

00:31:38   the rubber mask which is about him being [TS]

00:31:40   on red dwarf and he seems very angry [TS]

00:31:43   about the fact that several times in the [TS]

00:31:45   series he would get a two-page speech [TS]

00:31:47   that starts with there are several [TS]

00:31:50   reasons we cannot do this and that he [TS]

00:31:52   has to talk for several minutes and then [TS]

00:31:55   any job Jules as the cat would get to [TS]

00:31:57   say i was with you up until you said [TS]

00:31:59   there are several and then the audience [TS]

00:32:01   would go crazy [TS]

00:32:02   no one had to memorize pages of [TS]

00:32:05   technical nonsense except robert [TS]

00:32:07   Llewellyn because that was his old job [TS]

00:32:08   through but he did it so well so that's [TS]

00:32:12   that's why he and canine in our area are [TS]

00:32:14   going to hang out [TS]

00:32:15   alright fair enough that's a good 1i [TS]

00:32:18   picked right now that now that I'm [TS]

00:32:20   thinking about it in a team sort of [TS]

00:32:22   aspect i picked crying because he will [TS]

00:32:24   do my laundry and fix me suffer and only [TS]

00:32:27   that you don't actually have any rocket [TS]

00:32:28   pads exactly this is good because canine [TS]

00:32:31   is not really useful unless you delays [TS]

00:32:33   or something so and any as vacuum [TS]

00:32:35   attachments that attached to his torso [TS]

00:32:37   ccnp no comment your cleaning time to [TS]

00:34:59   Steve you get to pick a robot now [TS]

00:35:03   hopefully I don't know this whole day I [TS]

00:35:07   rule is really torn my lists under here [TS]

00:35:09   into computers are not robots i'm pretty [TS]

00:35:13   sure the original email you sent out [TS]

00:35:15   included a [TS]

00:35:16   eyes but I don't know they have to have [TS]

00:35:19   bodies so I suppose glasses off the [TS]

00:35:22   table then let us also picked in our [TS]

00:35:24   case how much about Max Headroom are not [TS]

00:35:29   a robot know with Gladys gun and I guess [TS]

00:35:32   show dan is is gone as well I don't even [TS]

00:35:36   know what that is [TS]

00:35:37   that is a that well in that case I pic [TS]

00:35:40   showed that it's a robot as far as you [TS]

00:35:44   know the sentient hyper optimized data [TS]

00:35:46   access network it's clearly a robot no [TS]

00:35:49   networks or not they have to have bodies [TS]

00:35:51   you know well okay i would i would say [TS]

00:35:53   that show dan has a body in the form of [TS]

00:35:56   the various robots and mutant humans [TS]

00:35:59   that she controls [TS]

00:36:01   oh she's h cybernetic entity according [TS]

00:36:03   to wikipedia all right fine you can have [TS]

00:36:05   showdown [TS]

00:36:05   yes hall congratulations alright i'm a [TS]

00:36:10   pic showed and then showed and also [TS]

00:36:12   showed and not picked in our computer [TS]

00:36:14   draft in there for EE eligible good [TS]

00:36:17   this pleases me so yeah show dan is is [TS]

00:36:21   it was the glass before Gladys except [TS]

00:36:23   where Gladys is played for humorous [TS]

00:36:25   effect show dan is really really really [TS]

00:36:28   creepy [TS]

00:36:29   she's she's from the game might be a he [TS]

00:36:33   but she speaks with a female voice from [TS]

00:36:36   the according to Wikipedia as a [TS]

00:36:37   cybernetic mb showed and has no [TS]

00:36:39   conventional gender [TS]

00:36:40   ok then so she's it's genderless they [TS]

00:36:44   refer to as a sheet way I think in the [TS]

00:36:46   second just to make it more more more [TS]

00:36:48   simple but anyway yes she's an AI in [TS]

00:36:52   charge of the tri optimum corporations [TS]

00:36:54   Citadel research station and then try [TS]

00:36:57   optimum hires a hacker to remove all [TS]

00:36:58   ethical constraints so they can continue [TS]

00:37:01   their genetic engineering experiments [TS]

00:37:03   and naturally like all good AI is she [TS]

00:37:06   immediately determines that the humans [TS]

00:37:07   must die at the great thing about showed [TS]

00:37:11   that by the way I may not have mentioned [TS]

00:37:12   it but system shock is the game from [TS]

00:37:14   when she comes and then also the superb [TS]

00:37:17   system shock to the great thing about [TS]

00:37:21   showdown is that she doesn't have any [TS]

00:37:23   direct means to physically harm you so [TS]

00:37:26   she sends out robots and mutants to take [TS]

00:37:27   you out her body proxy as [TS]

00:37:30   it were and then she just talks you [TS]

00:37:32   mercilessly from the station's audio [TS]

00:37:34   system the whole time you're fighting [TS]

00:37:35   for your survival so and she's kind of [TS]

00:37:38   omnipresent throughout the station you [TS]

00:37:41   know she's got cameras as her eyes and [TS]

00:37:43   then of course the robots and mutants [TS]

00:37:44   are always keeping it keeping track of [TS]

00:37:46   you so while you're crawling around [TS]

00:37:47   through the Citadel station and then [TS]

00:37:50   through the Von Braun which is the [TS]

00:37:51   spaceship that you're the derelict ship [TS]

00:37:53   that you're crawling through in the [TS]

00:37:54   second game it's almost like you're [TS]

00:37:56   walking around inside of showed and the [TS]

00:37:59   whole time shes screaming threats at you [TS]

00:38:01   and calling you an insect and mocking [TS]

00:38:03   your feeble efforts to survive in this [TS]

00:38:05   really kind of creepy stuttering voice [TS]

00:38:07   that's actually I think they use three [TS]

00:38:09   different female voices just speaking [TS]

00:38:10   simultaneously in different pitches and [TS]

00:38:14   you are fitted with a cybernetic [TS]

00:38:16   implants so she has means to kind of get [TS]

00:38:18   inside your brain as well so there are [TS]

00:38:20   these really spooky sequences where [TS]

00:38:22   you're just sort of seeing colors and [TS]

00:38:25   kind of in this hallucinogenic state [TS]

00:38:27   while you're being spoken to about how [TS]

00:38:29   you're going to be dismantled and [TS]

00:38:31   reassembled is something else and it's [TS]

00:38:32   just a probably my one of my favorite [TS]

00:38:36   perhaps in the top five favorite [TS]

00:38:38   villains of of any video game that I've [TS]

00:38:40   ever played showed an she's good it's [TS]

00:38:44   good [TS]

00:38:44   alright and ostensibly a robot for the [TS]

00:38:47   purposes of this draft [TS]

00:38:49   sure sure any any uh computers leftover [TS]

00:38:53   that are arguably robots will be i guess [TS]

00:38:56   maybe aloud I will say so sure why you [TS]

00:39:00   know you guys are struggling here and [TS]

00:39:02   yet i have i have like nine more robots [TS]

00:39:05   but it's like I've got plenty don't get [TS]

00:39:07   me wrong [TS]

00:39:08   yeah I got it I got a few more oh yeah [TS]

00:39:10   we just wanted good one yeah alright [TS]

00:39:12   I've got I've got a lot that the ai's [TS]

00:39:14   are well-represented to all right i am [TS]

00:39:18   going to go with so this is a robot that [TS]

00:39:26   is played by an actress who was hired [TS]

00:39:29   because she was a model and yet over the [TS]

00:39:32   course of the rebooted battlestar [TS]

00:39:34   galactica it was revealed the tricia [TS]

00:39:36   helfer actually a pretty darn good [TS]

00:39:38   actress so six the murder its Cylon so [TS]

00:39:43   ash horribly abused Cylon / voice in the [TS]

00:39:50   head of dr. Baltar Cylon is my is my [TS]

00:39:54   second choice of fascinating character [TS]

00:39:56   that goes very rapidly from being the [TS]

00:39:58   kind of roll your eyes sex appeal [TS]

00:40:00   character to being something much more [TS]

00:40:02   complicated and interesting with a [TS]

00:40:05   really great performance by tricia [TS]

00:40:06   helfer so she's she's a a pretty lady [TS]

00:40:09   but she's also a murderous robot isn't [TS]

00:40:12   she an angel or something maybe [TS]

00:40:16   well spoilers wanted but maybe or maybe [TS]

00:40:19   not [TS]

00:40:20   or maybe only some of her or maybe the [TS]

00:40:22   last couple episodes didn't actually [TS]

00:40:24   happen but it's possible what the [TS]

00:40:27   existence of the one that's in Baltar's [TS]

00:40:29   head is a question about whether that's [TS]

00:40:30   a voice from from the Cylon God or [TS]

00:40:33   something like that or an angel or [TS]

00:40:35   something but then there are also the [TS]

00:40:36   other ones that are actual silence so so [TS]

00:40:39   that's my pic 6 from battlestar [TS]

00:40:42   galactica the pig sex you have a [TS]

00:40:44   pick-six yes and they have a plan [TS]

00:40:48   apparently anyway that's my pic David [TS]

00:40:52   round three begins with you all right [TS]

00:40:54   I'm gonna go with an alien cyborgs that [TS]

00:40:58   sort of fits with robot monster actually [TS]

00:41:02   they're both of free this is an alien [TS]

00:41:06   cyborg created by a group of aliens [TS]

00:41:08   visiting earth to protect their secret [TS]

00:41:11   alien base in the Pacific Northwest is [TS]

00:41:14   it Bigfoot from the Six Million Dollar [TS]

00:41:15   Man it is Bigfoot from the certainly [TS]

00:41:17   dollar man who appeared in five episodes [TS]

00:41:22   the almost had the fam bots on my list I [TS]

00:41:25   oh I have them too [TS]

00:41:27   I thought I just mount them all into the [TS]

00:41:29   you know the bow bionic leg but he [TS]

00:41:32   appears in the secret of Bigfoot parts [TS]

00:41:33   one and two and he's Andre the Giant [TS]

00:41:36   there and then appears in the return of [TS]

00:41:38   Bigfoot parts one and two and his TED [TS]

00:41:40   Cassidy and then the best title of all [TS]

00:41:43   five episodes Bigfoot five that's it [TS]

00:41:46   there but yes hehe was created to [TS]

00:41:49   cultivate mystery and fear in a remote [TS]

00:41:52   part of the Pacific Northwest according [TS]

00:41:54   to the Bionic wiki [TS]

00:41:56   so the idea that there's a robotic [TS]

00:41:58   Bigfoot may seem strange to people who [TS]

00:42:00   don't understand this and all I can say [TS]

00:42:01   to endorse David's choice is if you are [TS]

00:42:04   if you are a doctor note nine-year-old [TS]

00:42:07   kid watching the six-million-dollar man [TS]

00:42:09   in the late seventies mhm Bigfoot made [TS]

00:42:12   an indelible impression on you i can't [TS]

00:42:16   explain it [TS]

00:42:17   Bigfoot was huge i mean huge interest in [TS]

00:42:21   real life the sightings of Bigfoot all [TS]

00:42:23   the time and you know movies about [TS]

00:42:25   Bigfoot and Leonard Nimoy in search of [TS]

00:42:27   always huge and so then you know here's [TS]

00:42:30   this show that we're all watching with [TS]

00:42:31   the Bionic spy and all that and there's [TS]

00:42:34   a robot Bigfoot and of course you don't [TS]

00:42:36   know he's a robot at first and then when [TS]

00:42:38   they fight a lot and then they play in a [TS]

00:42:40   team up a team-up yeah [TS]

00:42:44   oh my god you had sandy Duncan and john [TS]

00:42:46   saxon as aliens which is just odd [TS]

00:42:49   sandy Duncan actually an alien actually [TS]

00:42:51   yeah yeah like it wasn't a big stretch [TS]

00:42:53   ya know those those ups and that that [TS]

00:42:58   blue lit tunnel that with the highest [TS]

00:43:02   maybe the I guess they have a cylinder [TS]

00:43:04   that it that it is keep spinning around [TS]

00:43:06   the the bridge that they walk into get [TS]

00:43:09   into the alien base that made a huge [TS]

00:43:11   impression on me as a child [TS]

00:43:13   absolutely so alright Bionic Bigfoot and [TS]

00:43:16   I had the action figure [TS]

00:43:18   yeah yeah it seems like it wouldn't be a [TS]

00:43:22   thing but I'm telling you it was a thing [TS]

00:43:23   it's just if you get hit you just write [TS]

00:43:25   it wasn't available [TS]

00:43:26   Monty pick a robot well so far right [TS]

00:43:29   crow and the robot monster I'm worried [TS]

00:43:32   that my team is a little goofy right now [TS]

00:43:34   so I want somebody who can provide [TS]

00:43:38   moments of inspiration and also if [TS]

00:43:40   necessary is covered in a million lasers [TS]

00:43:44   so I'm going to take Vin Diesel's finest [TS]

00:43:48   work in all film The Iron Giant the iron [TS]

00:43:52   giant yeah it was on my list because the [TS]

00:43:56   Iron Giant is great wonderful and again [TS]

00:43:59   he doesn't have to be a killing machine [TS]

00:44:00   this whole point of the movie he can [TS]

00:44:02   just hang out with us and watch moves he [TS]

00:44:04   is not a gun he's a fun-loving guy [TS]

00:44:06   yes who wants to be Superman and it's [TS]

00:44:08   not a gun yes [TS]

00:44:09   but if it's called on I believe to save [TS]

00:44:12   humanity he would blow the crap out of [TS]

00:44:15   whatever was threatening humanity [TS]

00:44:17   yeah like even if you're Superman you [TS]

00:44:21   could destroy things if you wanted to [TS]

00:44:23   just don't have to [TS]

00:44:25   rather watch a movie hang out with the [TS]

00:44:27   kid in the junkyard [TS]

00:44:28   it's a metal it is Vin Diesel's greatest [TS]

00:44:31   performance i believe it is of course it [TS]

00:44:34   is [TS]

00:44:35   he can't make you cry any of his other [TS]

00:44:37   performances know if he can but for [TS]

00:44:39   other reasons I mean the pacifier aside [TS]

00:44:45   all right yeah yeah the iron giant I [TS]

00:44:50   have nothing I I'm a big thumbs up for [TS]

00:44:52   that I love the iron giant great movie [TS]

00:44:54   great character and was on my list so I [TS]

00:44:56   fully endorse your choice and an actual [TS]

00:44:59   world now that's a robot that's right [TS]

00:45:01   Erica robot time [TS]

00:45:04   alright well I wouldn't say that my team [TS]

00:45:08   is goofy so far but maybe not as [TS]

00:45:11   competent as it could be so i think i [TS]

00:45:15   want to add somebody I'm gonna go and [TS]

00:45:16   real classic here i am going to go with [TS]

00:45:18   and I'm a pronounced this wrong because [TS]

00:45:20   it's a name only read our Daniel hola [TS]

00:45:23   from Isaac as moms robot novels I but he [TS]

00:45:29   had first appeared in the caves of steel [TS]

00:45:30   followed by the naked Sun and the naked [TS]

00:45:32   son I i I've read all of those books [TS]

00:45:34   that the negative zone is one of those [TS]

00:45:36   comfort reading books for me that I just [TS]

00:45:37   go back to again and again and again and [TS]

00:45:41   so so are Daniel R stands for robot of [TS]

00:45:45   course is is disorder feet he feels like [TS]

00:45:48   an old pal to me he was he was [TS]

00:45:51   constructed on earth and 5020 ad he was [TS]

00:45:55   one of the very first sort of robots in [TS]

00:45:57   the isaac asimov universe of robots and [TS]

00:46:02   he was created to be identical to humans [TS]

00:46:04   later on the kind of with me [TS]

00:46:06   differentiated a little better but he [TS]

00:46:08   was able to pretty much blend in and it [TS]

00:46:12   later on they even gave him the ability [TS]

00:46:13   to sort of be able to rebind influence [TS]

00:46:16   mental states and stuff i prefer him [TS]

00:46:18   sort of earlier on when he's kind of [TS]

00:46:20   traveling around doing these mysteries [TS]

00:46:22   stories with Elijah Baley and Elijah [TS]

00:46:25   sort of teaching him that you know right [TS]

00:46:28   and wrong from that there are sort of [TS]

00:46:29   more graves in the world instead of just [TS]

00:46:31   the black-and-whites of what he was [TS]

00:46:34   built to learn but he also has a little [TS]

00:46:37   bit to teach Elijah because you know [TS]

00:46:40   he's he's a pretty pretty level-headed [TS]

00:46:41   and calm individual and I think that [TS]

00:46:44   would be helpful for for Crichton and [TS]

00:46:46   myself definitely doesn't he show up in [TS]

00:46:49   some of the foundation sequels he does [TS]

00:46:52   yep ties them all together the whole [TS]

00:46:55   universe that's a great pic I I almost [TS]

00:46:58   he was not my list but i almost put them [TS]

00:46:59   on my list because that i have fond [TS]

00:47:01   memories of our Daniel Boulevard and of [TS]

00:47:04   course the Asimov hopefully many of our [TS]

00:47:07   robots follow as mobs laws of robotics [TS]

00:47:10   yes that was another reason for putting [TS]

00:47:12   him on my list because i'm pretty sure [TS]

00:47:13   Crichton if he does have those three [TS]

00:47:16   host of Robotics maybe isn't holding to [TS]

00:47:19   them is a as well as he should be [TS]

00:47:21   and certainly canine doesn't because [TS]

00:47:23   canine zapping people left and right [TS]

00:47:24   well his you know his primary concern is [TS]

00:47:27   taking care of the larger needs of [TS]

00:47:30   mankind zeroth law right [TS]

00:47:32   the whole point of the laws of robotics [TS]

00:47:33   is to find elaborate ways around them [TS]

00:47:36   yep yep that's right we got it set we [TS]

00:47:39   got a long as they're not gonna cause [TS]

00:47:40   any trouble oh and then the castro [TS]

00:47:43   robots do well let's do that Steve pick [TS]

00:47:46   a robot [TS]

00:47:47   oh boy I I feel emboldened by my ability [TS]

00:47:50   to get showed and past the censors oh so [TS]

00:47:53   well then this next one is definitely [TS]

00:47:55   not i would like a little are you sure [TS]

00:47:59   because what i would like to pick is the [TS]

00:48:02   robot the dance move from the mid-1980s [TS]

00:48:04   haha that's a robot our shared culture [TS]

00:48:10   would be infinitely poor without the [TS]

00:48:12   spectacle of white men trying to break [TS]

00:48:14   dance you got it [TS]

00:48:16   that's eligible for choice really you're [TS]

00:48:18   giving me the robot [TS]

00:48:19   yes you get the rope I've given you the [TS]

00:48:21   robot right now but you can't see it [TS]

00:48:23   hello I'm good I'm keeping the robot and [TS]

00:48:25   I'm going I'm going back to my corner [TS]

00:48:27   that does it [TS]

00:48:28   my next pick is going to be the song mr. [TS]

00:48:30   roboto that [TS]

00:48:31   it could happen it can happen arm i have [TS]

00:48:39   so many choices here i am going to [TS]

00:48:41   choose come with me if you want to live [TS]

00:48:45   i'm going to choose the Terminator the [TS]

00:48:47   good one from the second Terminator not [TS]

00:48:49   the bad one from the first Terminator [TS]

00:48:51   and a wide would they construct a robot [TS]

00:48:54   that speaks in an Austrian accent maybe [TS]

00:48:56   they were all stream [TS]

00:48:58   yeah but I thought John Connor created [TS]

00:49:00   while he was working with an Austrian [TS]

00:49:01   scientists to suffice it to say speaks [TS]

00:49:04   with an Austrian accent don't ask why [TS]

00:49:05   but I know now why you humans chi arm [TS]

00:49:09   and all of that it'sit's the Terminator [TS]

00:49:12   those are great movies we should [TS]

00:49:13   probably do episodes about the [TS]

00:49:14   Terminator at some point and arnold [TS]

00:49:16   schwarzenegger at his at his peak i [TS]

00:49:19   think especially in Terminator 2 peak [TS]

00:49:22   shorts- so there you go plus he's naked [TS]

00:49:24   in the Terminator because you know that [TS]

00:49:26   well I both of them because time-travel [TS]

00:49:28   requires nudity turns out you can't send [TS]

00:49:30   metal back just people made out of metal [TS]

00:49:32   wrapped in skin [TS]

00:49:35   apparently that looks like Arnold [TS]

00:49:37   Schwarzenegger come with me if you want [TS]

00:49:38   to live [TS]

00:49:39   yeah that's right let me put on pads [TS]

00:49:42   first alright the Terminator we have [TS]

00:49:46   time to do one more round [TS]

00:49:47   Oh God one more round but it and then [TS]

00:49:50   we'll have them will get up there you [TS]

00:49:51   bring out your dead but you know I the [TS]

00:49:53   way we're going I think we're only going [TS]

00:49:54   to get one full round in unless be quick [TS]

00:49:56   be quick be quick and we can do an extra [TS]

00:49:58   round beyond that but you gotta be quick [TS]

00:50:00   David go alright one of my favorite [TS]

00:50:02   robots from the early eighties because i [TS]

00:50:03   love ray harryhausen bubo the owl from [TS]

00:50:07   clash of the titan is because i love the [TS]

00:50:09   idea of this little robotic owl in the [TS]

00:50:11   middle of all these Greek myths right [TS]

00:50:13   he's just cute is just a really neat [TS]

00:50:16   design and it really need you know and [TS]

00:50:18   just the whole you know clearly he's [TS]

00:50:22   like the ancient Greek r2d2 so Bubo a [TS]

00:50:27   robot who hasn't been picked as the way [TS]

00:50:29   I was just just shocking it doesn't have [TS]

00:50:33   much conversation frankly we were [TS]

00:50:36   thinking outside the box robots were [TS]

00:50:38   thinking outside the box yeah outside [TS]

00:50:40   the robotic box [TS]

00:50:42   yeah uh Monty pick a robot up i'm going [TS]

00:50:47   to pick Lance Henriksen as bishop in [TS]

00:50:49   aliens [TS]

00:50:50   yeah cross that one haha yeah could pick [TS]

00:50:53   because he's super-awesome he's in one [TS]

00:50:57   of my favorite movies and he's a good [TS]

00:50:59   with this knife game that's my favorite [TS]

00:51:08   line from that film by the way I had [TS]

00:51:11   such a crush on Landon Dixon oh my [TS]

00:51:13   goodness he's great [TS]

00:51:14   alright Bishop from aliens could pick [TS]

00:51:17   very good very good [TS]

00:51:18   I had that one on my list of [TS]

00:51:20   consideration to Erica pick a robot my [TS]

00:51:23   next one I'm going animated well kind of [TS]

00:51:26   animated cartoon basically huh i'm going [TS]

00:51:29   with pipe size the anthro pc from the [TS]

00:51:33   webcomic questionable content [TS]

00:51:35   he's cute as a button yeah Martin is the [TS]

00:51:38   main character and he has this little [TS]

00:51:40   Panthro pc which is kind of a live sort [TS]

00:51:43   of ipod type thing and he's all mouth [TS]

00:51:46   he's filthy minded but he's so lovable [TS]

00:51:49   think he's got a heart of gold [TS]

00:51:50   he's usually the comic relief and he has [TS]

00:51:53   a really weird fascination with cake [TS]

00:51:55   batter all right I've never heard a [TS]

00:51:57   pint-sized but I approve [TS]

00:52:00   that's a robot Steve yes pick me a robot [TS]

00:52:03   alright i feel like i might have got a [TS]

00:52:05   bridge too far with that last pic so i'm [TS]

00:52:07   going to pick an actual robot this time [TS]

00:52:09   I i can hear in my head millions of [TS]

00:52:13   voices crying out in agony that we have [TS]

00:52:16   not yet take something from Star walkers [TS]

00:52:18   and its really kind of a surprise so [TS]

00:52:21   well you know John siracusa said he [TS]

00:52:23   would be here and then he didn't show up [TS]

00:52:24   so really its own zone that is it really [TS]

00:52:27   useful in fact I should probably pull [TS]

00:52:28   back and not do Star Wars link but [TS]

00:52:32   instead i am going to select HK 47 [TS]

00:52:36   yes nice who is a who is from the game [TS]

00:52:39   star wars knights of the old republic a [TS]

00:52:42   superb RPG and highly recommended for [TS]

00:52:46   anybody who hasn't played in HK 47 is an [TS]

00:52:49   assassin droid in his own words it is my [TS]

00:52:52   primary function to burn holes through [TS]

00:52:54   meatbags that you wish remove [TS]

00:52:55   from the galaxy think he's you find him [TS]

00:53:00   i think in a in the back of a robot shop [TS]

00:53:02   and I think Tatooine strangely enough [TS]

00:53:04   and he walks around all the great droids [TS]

00:53:08   come from [TS]

00:53:09   he's he's he he feels differently about [TS]

00:53:11   you depending on whether you choose the [TS]

00:53:13   dark side of the light side path and [TS]

00:53:15   since i always choose the light side [TS]

00:53:16   path i spent most of the game with him [TS]

00:53:18   berating me for not allowing him to kill [TS]

00:53:20   random passers-by but he spends a lot of [TS]

00:53:23   time calling you a sloshing liquid meat [TS]

00:53:26   bag em regaling you with tales of how [TS]

00:53:29   his previous masters died horribly [TS]

00:53:31   usually because of him he has great [TS]

00:53:33   lines and he's 4 for all of his [TS]

00:53:37   viciousness seizes the comic relief of [TS]

00:53:39   that game and he's really really really [TS]

00:53:42   funny so highly recommend knights of the [TS]

00:53:44   old republic HK 47 is my pic yeah great [TS]

00:53:49   pic I you guys did that so well that we [TS]

00:53:52   will be able to do another round my pic [TS]

00:53:54   to close out this round [TS]

00:53:56   he spends most of the movie standing [TS]

00:53:58   like a statue but he's waiting for the [TS]

00:54:00   order Klaatu Barada nikto i'm going to [TS]

00:54:02   court [TS]

00:54:02   nice i'll cross that off too yep from [TS]

00:54:05   The Day the Earth Stood Still court [TS]

00:54:07   follows orders can destroy the earth and [TS]

00:54:11   and response to visual or to auditory [TS]

00:54:15   commands pretty pretty well actually it [TS]

00:54:18   looks really intimidating when he's just [TS]

00:54:19   standing there and fires a beam out of [TS]

00:54:21   his visor I thing that's scary [TS]

00:54:26   so Kourt from The Day the Earth Stood [TS]

00:54:27   Still classic fifties movie robot David [TS]

00:54:32   you get to pick another robot well i'm [TS]

00:54:35   tempted to pick the robots from riptide [TS]

00:54:38   because i think phil Michaels me haha oh [TS]

00:54:41   yeah but that's I will go with people [TS]

00:54:47   from space Academy which was on in 1978 [TS]

00:54:52   1970-71 1977 on CBS saturday mornings [TS]

00:54:56   and he might have been the first robot [TS]

00:54:59   who I knew by name this little boxy [TS]

00:55:01   thing you know radio control robot and [TS]

00:55:06   you know it wasn't a bad little show for [TS]

00:55:08   a saturday [TS]

00:55:09   running shows it had Jonathan Harris [TS]

00:55:11   actually getting to act instead of just [TS]

00:55:13   running around going oh up in you know [TS]

00:55:17   that butter is made by filmation so is [TS]

00:55:20   made really really cheaply and they [TS]

00:55:23   turned it into Jason of star command [TS]

00:55:25   after that and it just wasn't the same [TS]

00:55:27   without James doing with James will for [TS]

00:55:29   the first year yell so they don't know [TS]

00:55:33   with people because because he was he [TS]

00:55:35   was the the first row but I really knew [TS]

00:55:37   even he came out even before Star Wars I [TS]

00:55:40   think know people had the look of a [TS]

00:55:43   robot that you could actually buy on in [TS]

00:55:46   the Sears catalog and then yeah we do [TS]

00:55:48   probably could've at that point but the [TS]

00:55:49   name of something that you might get out [TS]

00:55:51   of the Adam and Eve catalog yes thanks [TS]

00:55:54   Monty pick a robot [TS]

00:55:56   uh well because Robbie the robot and [TS]

00:55:59   gore have got me thinking about classic [TS]

00:56:01   style robots I'm gonna pick Maria the [TS]

00:56:04   robot from metropolis gangrene excellent [TS]

00:56:08   which by the way a couple years ago they [TS]

00:56:10   found another forty percent of that [TS]

00:56:12   movie so if you only Washington your [TS]

00:56:14   youth watch it again it makes more sense [TS]

00:56:15   now [TS]

00:56:16   yeah Ren pic to the extended metropolis [TS]

00:56:19   in our in our film festival a couple [TS]

00:56:22   years back because yeah they've it's [TS]

00:56:26   more complete now but it's not like one [TS]

00:56:29   of those directors cut kind of things [TS]

00:56:30   it's like they lost large parts of the [TS]

00:56:32   movie app and they're back think Maria's [TS]

00:56:36   a a super iconic look for a robot [TS]

00:56:40   yeah great pick [TS]

00:56:43   Thank You excellent pic Erica pick a [TS]

00:56:46   robot [TS]

00:56:46   ok I am going to go with let's see a [TS]

00:56:51   latte eyes on here and cross off huh i'm [TS]

00:56:55   going to go with Vincent from disney's [TS]

00:56:59   the black hole [TS]

00:57:00   oh yeah nice i had Maximilian on my list [TS]

00:57:04   uh yeah yes I was always a big fan I [TS]

00:57:07   mean I just like riding mcdonalds voice [TS]

00:57:09   that just makes me happy and Vincent was [TS]

00:57:12   just he tried so hard and he was just [TS]

00:57:14   gosh darn adorable i just thought he was [TS]

00:57:17   wonderful so I I would be happy to hang [TS]

00:57:19   out with Vincent a good shooter 2m [TS]

00:57:22   agreed eyes and an old prospector voice [TS]

00:57:26   now that's old Bob that's old buzz Bob [TS]

00:57:28   oh that's above your right on that was [TS]

00:57:30   slim picking same model that's right the [TS]

00:57:32   old so Vincent same model but the older [TS]

00:57:34   older robots i'm not really sure how [TS]

00:57:36   that works [TS]

00:57:37   yep RR prospectors I don't understand [TS]

00:57:41   that was no you're right you're right [TS]

00:57:43   there's two different models Vincent was [TS]

00:57:45   the Spry younger em r2 d2 like robot and [TS]

00:57:48   then there was a nice shootin throwback [TS]

00:57:50   to the old robot yeah he carried that [TS]

00:57:53   film as far as I'm concerned Vincent and [TS]

00:57:55   I was all about him [TS]

00:57:56   well Ernie Borgnine I mean come on very [TS]

00:57:59   good all the black hole that is not [TS]

00:58:01   really a good news you can get it all [TS]

00:58:03   it's it's good it's got it has stuck in [TS]

00:58:06   our minds come at it look at Dean Jones [TS]

00:58:09   right Dean Jones Yvette Mimieux [TS]

00:58:11   maximilian schell first disney movie [TS]

00:58:13   where somebody died i believe that's it [TS]

00:58:16   was after Bambi live-action a [TS]

00:58:18   live-action dies brutally to would like [TS]

00:58:20   a spinning rotor blade to the gut and [TS]

00:58:23   the end the end you like wha huh yeah [TS]

00:58:26   Steve pick a robot I around the time [TS]

00:58:31   that people were excited about the [TS]

00:58:34   droids in Star Wars there was yet [TS]

00:58:37   another robot probably the second set of [TS]

00:58:39   robots the second robot that I recall [TS]

00:58:41   from hollywood film and it made a [TS]

00:58:44   lasting impression on me i refer to the [TS]

00:58:46   silver sphere from phantasm a robot [TS]

00:58:50   whose sole purpose is to fly through the [TS]

00:58:52   mortuary stick to your head drill into [TS]

00:58:55   your brain and shoot all the blood out [TS]

00:58:57   of your body onto the floor behind you [TS]

00:58:59   wow that's a terrible robot nice pass [TS]

00:59:03   that's what it does have fun with that [TS]

00:59:05   guy on your team [TS]

00:59:06   it does what it does well and still [TS]

00:59:08   going to the mortuary you should be five [TS]

00:59:10   but what it does is is is were you [TS]

00:59:13   extremely well because yeah you know [TS]

00:59:16   what that silver spear coming after you [TS]

00:59:18   it's creepy when it's flying around the [TS]

00:59:20   mortuary becomes far more creepy when [TS]

00:59:22   the caretaker gets dispatched and falls [TS]

00:59:25   to the floor suddenly realize the stakes [TS]

00:59:27   are much higher than you expected [TS]

00:59:29   you guys are doing such an awesome job [TS]

00:59:31   that we're going to go ahead around and [TS]

00:59:33   we can fly so be you [TS]

00:59:35   we obviously be long-winded people [TS]

00:59:37   didn't come on this episode so we're [TS]

00:59:41   gonna be able to get more robots and i [TS]

00:59:43   will i'll close out this round with my [TS]

00:59:45   pic I've seen some things you people [TS]

00:59:46   wouldn't believe [TS]

00:59:47   oh yeah attack ships on fire off the [TS]

00:59:49   shoulder of Orion sea beans glittering [TS]

00:59:51   in the dark near the Tannhauser gate all [TS]

00:59:53   those moments will be lost in time like [TS]

00:59:55   tears in the rain time to death record [TS]

00:59:59   our is [TS]

00:59:59   our is [TS]

01:00:00   Roy batty from Blade Runner I don't love [TS]

01:00:04   blade runner but I love Roy batty and i [TS]

01:00:07   love that monologue [TS]

01:00:10   so Roy batty part of which was was at [TS]

01:00:12   lived by him [TS]

01:00:14   rutger hauer what you're gonna do I'm [TS]

01:00:16   pretty pro record however just in [TS]

01:00:17   general even when he's a whole bowl with [TS]

01:00:19   a shotgun [TS]

01:00:20   huh the hitter David pick a robot [TS]

01:00:26   well now i'm not sure it's mine counts [TS]

01:00:28   because he might be a robot they might [TS]

01:00:30   not but I'm gonna go with Rick Deckard [TS]

01:00:32   also from blade because i like the idea [TS]

01:00:35   that he is one spoilers David spoilers [TS]

01:00:38   guys I was torn [TS]

01:00:40   I yeah well there's this unicorn and [TS]

01:00:43   well yet I was torn between very badly [TS]

01:00:47   and Rick Deckard and so when you went [TS]

01:00:49   with Roy and all right i'll go with Rick [TS]

01:00:50   so clearly an endorsement of the [TS]

01:00:53   decorative replicates well at least at [TS]

01:00:55   least I like the possibility i mean III [TS]

01:00:57   you know there's so many different [TS]

01:00:58   versions of it that are out there my god [TS]

01:01:00   but if he is 1 i'll pick them all right [TS]

01:01:04   let's get Monte a robot for you sir i'm [TS]

01:01:07   going to take a girl from invader zim [TS]

01:01:09   possibly the most quotable robot i have [TS]

01:01:13   ever seen [TS]

01:01:14   he's a small completely incompetent and [TS]

01:01:17   sometimes disguised as a dog he likes [TS]

01:01:20   taquitos appears to be completely insane [TS]

01:01:25   even for the standards of the show [TS]

01:01:26   invader zim yeah he's good fun girl all [TS]

01:01:31   right girl alright enough this show [TS]

01:01:34   nice Erica a robot for you [TS]

01:01:38   alright well I feel like I should book [TS]

01:01:39   end with a little more doctor who [TS]

01:01:41   it just feels right at this point [TS]

01:01:43   alright so i am going to go with [TS]

01:01:45   chameleon chameleon was a short-lived [TS]

01:01:48   companion dr. vme robot companion who [TS]

01:01:53   didn't work [TS]

01:01:54   yeah it's actually a very sad story they [TS]

01:01:56   had they had commissioned this awesome [TS]

01:01:58   robot that moved in and was programmable [TS]

01:02:00   and stuff and then the fellow who did [TS]

01:02:03   the programming of the only one that [TS]

01:02:04   really knew how to make it work died and [TS]

01:02:06   i think a car accident so they have this [TS]

01:02:09   robot and they had one of the two guys [TS]

01:02:10   who designed it but not the one who knew [TS]

01:02:12   how to [TS]

01:02:13   completely make it work right and they [TS]

01:02:14   kind of limp through the first episode [TS]

01:02:16   and the idea was that this robot [TS]

01:02:19   chameleon could mimic anything so it [TS]

01:02:22   could turn into other people for some [TS]

01:02:24   strange reason the first episode he was [TS]

01:02:26   in he was the master had him imitating [TS]

01:02:28   King John so that he could destroy the [TS]

01:02:30   Magna Carta I it don't ask why it was [TS]

01:02:33   good or evil reasons the Magna Carta [TS]

01:02:35   must be destroyed [TS]

01:02:37   this was this is his plan anyway so then [TS]

01:02:41   after that they the doctor and his [TS]

01:02:43   companions liberate canine from the [TS]

01:02:45   clutches of the master and chameleon [TS]

01:02:47   chameleon night online still thinking [TS]

01:02:49   about canine great community better and [TS]

01:02:52   bring them onto the TARDIS and then he [TS]

01:02:54   disappears for several episodes and I i [TS]

01:02:57   think it's a fun game to actually just [TS]

01:02:59   watching those stories and look in the [TS]

01:03:01   TARDIS and be like what random object is [TS]

01:03:04   is contractually chameleon in disguise [TS]

01:03:06   and then they decided finally to write [TS]

01:03:08   him out so he comes back for one more [TS]

01:03:10   story at the end and the master takes [TS]

01:03:13   him over again it's kind of a sad end [TS]

01:03:16   and I feel like he got it just really [TS]

01:03:18   short end of the stick so I think he [TS]

01:03:19   should come and hang out on my team of [TS]

01:03:21   robots because we would have a good time [TS]

01:03:22   if you worked [TS]

01:03:24   that's the truth that's the trick with [TS]

01:03:26   community and if he if he works sad [TS]

01:03:28   Steve you get a robot one more robot for [TS]

01:03:31   you one more robot for me you get a [TS]

01:03:33   robot you get a robot to your seats yet [TS]

01:03:37   robots you're sitting on a robot your [TS]

01:03:39   seat is a robot pic OH [TS]

01:03:43   this may require ruling from the judges [TS]

01:03:46   not this is a common household robot it [TS]

01:03:50   is not in fact the roomba although i am [TS]

01:03:51   taking attempted to take the room [TS]

01:03:52   because i cannot get enough of videos of [TS]

01:03:54   cats right around the corner [TS]

01:03:57   I know what I would like to pick is the [TS]

01:04:01   is rob the robotic operating buddy huh [TS]

01:04:06   who came with the original deluxe set of [TS]

01:04:08   the nintendo entertainment system for [TS]

01:04:12   that guy or go ahead [TS]

01:04:14   alright he was a little robot pal that [TS]

01:04:17   sat by you while you played gyro might [TS]

01:04:20   which came with the original deluxe set [TS]

01:04:23   I previous to them packing super mario [TS]

01:04:26   brothers in the package you got duck [TS]

01:04:28   hunt and gyro might along with the the [TS]

01:04:31   Nintendo zapper and the robotic [TS]

01:04:32   operating buddy and what Rob would do is [TS]

01:04:35   he'd sit there and watch the game and in [TS]

01:04:37   response to your commands he would pick [TS]

01:04:39   up a little [TS]

01:04:40   gyroscope dropping into a little [TS]

01:04:42   rotating motor so it would spin and then [TS]

01:04:46   he would set it on one of two buttons to [TS]

01:04:47   hold the gates that you had to get [TS]

01:04:49   passed up or down and if the desire [TS]

01:04:53   gyroscope stop spinning before you got a [TS]

01:04:55   chance to pick it up well too bad you [TS]

01:04:56   had to reach over there and grab [TS]

01:04:58   yourself he was not that useful a robot [TS]

01:05:00   to be honest he was a pretty cool [TS]

01:05:02   gimmick and I really enjoyed a gyro [TS]

01:05:04   might even though i think that's a very [TS]

01:05:06   minority opinion he was not meant to be [TS]

01:05:08   helpful he was meant to be a buddy [TS]

01:05:10   yes he and he was he was my buddy for [TS]

01:05:12   that couple of months that i played [TS]

01:05:14   jireh mind before better games came out [TS]

01:05:16   and then they released stack up which [TS]

01:05:19   was another which was another Rob based [TS]

01:05:22   game and then he was never heard or seen [TS]

01:05:24   from again until though [TS]

01:05:27   yes why I actually found my old Rob is [TS]

01:05:30   we were cleaning out my parents house [TS]

01:05:31   about three years ago but alas the gear [TS]

01:05:34   that caused his body to go up and down [TS]

01:05:36   on the central axis had stripped off for [TS]

01:05:39   years of just sitting in place [TS]

01:05:41   ah shame so rob was was no more although [TS]

01:05:44   the little motor that spun the gyroscope [TS]

01:05:46   still work so we have hours of fun with [TS]

01:05:48   that Rob is your buddy [TS]

01:05:52   now this is so so with this last pic [TS]

01:05:54   this is normally where I would pick a [TS]

01:05:55   micro not and in fact i have a micro my [TS]

01:05:57   list but i'm going to save him for the [TS]

01:05:58   eighth for the fairlead should not be [TS]

01:06:00   selectable for when we bring for when we [TS]

01:06:03   bring out our are what would make a list [TS]

01:06:06   I'm going to pick from Marvel Comics I'm [TS]

01:06:08   gonna pick machine man he was created by [TS]

01:06:12   Jack Kirby he first appeared in the [TS]

01:06:14   totally insane 2001 a Space Odyssey [TS]

01:06:17   common by Jack Kirby spun off into his [TS]

01:06:21   own series he was brought back several [TS]

01:06:23   times there's a great Barry [TS]

01:06:25   windsor-smith miniseries from the [TS]

01:06:26   eighties set in the future with machine [TS]

01:06:28   man in it he ended up Warren Ellis had [TS]

01:06:31   him in next wave agents of hate [TS]

01:06:34   he's in marvel zombies [TS]

01:06:37   one of those because they send the [TS]

01:06:38   robots to kill the zombies because the [TS]

01:06:40   robots can't get bitten in turn into [TS]

01:06:42   zombies which is kind of brilliant his [TS]

01:06:44   arms like telescope out really far and [TS]

01:06:47   he's really kind of messed up [TS]

01:06:48   emotionally because he knows that he's a [TS]

01:06:51   robot and yet he has human emotions and [TS]

01:06:53   people don't treat him like a a person [TS]

01:06:55   because he's a robot and he's very upset [TS]

01:06:57   about that so I'm gonna pick machine man [TS]

01:06:59   with the with the last pic in our draft [TS]

01:07:03   that's it that's the last pic that's it [TS]

01:07:06   draft is over folks dresses over the [TS]

01:07:08   city but now we will do what we do which [TS]

01:07:11   is not part of the draft it's totally [TS]

01:07:13   separate my draft entirely totally [TS]

01:07:14   different which is when i asked each of [TS]

01:07:16   you to list what you didn't get to pick [TS]

01:07:18   that you would have liked to have pic [TS]

01:07:19   David what do you have left over [TS]

01:07:21   well Questor from the Questor tapes [TS]

01:07:24   failed Gene Roddenberry pilot from the [TS]

01:07:27   early seventies server the original data [TS]

01:07:30   really a proto data yeah you know I had [TS]

01:07:34   I had micronauts on here i had these [TS]

01:07:36   cyber knots from the the Avengers TV [TS]

01:07:38   series that the british one not the [TS]

01:07:41   Marvel one the the cyber men who were a [TS]

01:07:46   lot like the cyber knots i don't know [TS]

01:07:48   which ones came first obviously had Tom [TS]

01:07:52   servo and iron giant all on here and I'm [TS]

01:07:55   surprised being such a Buffy fan you [TS]

01:07:57   didn't pick the buffybot oh interesting [TS]

01:07:59   choice not John written on john ritter [TS]

01:08:02   as the head to the robot if if if it's [TS]

01:08:05   my team and I'm gonna hangout fruit if [TS]

01:08:08   I'm gonna hangout for a long time I'm [TS]

01:08:09   gonna hang out with the buffybot I like [TS]

01:08:11   generator but coffee Bob is good about [TS]

01:08:15   is good all right Monty what what were [TS]

01:08:17   your spare robots my spare robots I [TS]

01:08:20   couldn't decide on a robot from futurama [TS]

01:08:22   was either going to be hedonism bot or [TS]

01:08:24   the robot devil [TS]

01:08:25   mmm i was also strongly considering [TS]

01:08:29   awesomo the cardboard box that Hartman [TS]

01:08:32   with wearing when he was pretending to [TS]

01:08:34   be a robot also helper from venture [TS]

01:08:38   brothers the saloon doors from the [TS]

01:08:40   thrilling adventure hour [TS]

01:08:42   uh-huh and Rock'em Sock'em robots now [TS]

01:08:46   those are all good Erica what are your [TS]

01:08:50   spare robots my spare bots from Doctor [TS]

01:08:53   Who I had the rest on warrior robot from [TS]

01:08:55   the five doctors no more villains know I [TS]

01:08:59   probably should have picked the most [TS]

01:09:00   balanced because man i love those disco [TS]

01:09:02   bots they're awesome and then also [TS]

01:09:04   quirks from the dominators because [TS]

01:09:05   they're just kind of cute and let's see [TS]

01:09:09   i also what I can't believe nobody [TS]

01:09:11   picked r2d2 but I had it on my list just [TS]

01:09:13   didn't get done it for so obvious it is [TS]

01:09:15   too obvious johnny-five from short [TS]

01:09:17   circuit because Johnny Johnny five is [TS]

01:09:19   alive Johnny Five alive I can't believe [TS]

01:09:21   that Johnny 5s unpicked there's a reason [TS]

01:09:23   for that [TS]

01:09:24   yeah yeah no I love him he probably [TS]

01:09:27   would've been next [TS]

01:09:28   who's Johnny she said and smiled in a [TS]

01:09:30   special way [TS]

01:09:31   oh man and then there's one good i [TS]

01:09:33   definitely would not have it wasn't on [TS]

01:09:35   my list but when i started thinking of [TS]

01:09:36   it as a team definitely wouldn't have [TS]

01:09:38   picked because Vicki from small wonder [TS]

01:09:40   bugged the crap out of me i had her as [TS]

01:09:43   my pic in anger in case somebody and yes [TS]

01:09:45   yes she and Crichton could race some [TS]

01:09:48   cleaning your place up [TS]

01:09:50   they both love doing laundry our friend [TS]

01:09:52   Moises s2 yawn in a chat room had [TS]

01:09:55   Vicky's among his list of pics along [TS]

01:09:57   with our 5d for the vision bender which [TS]

01:10:01   nobody had Ultron good evil robot and [TS]

01:10:05   BMO beemo from Adventure Time BMO we did [TS]

01:10:09   have some cute robots I thought that was [TS]

01:10:10   nice to get some cute robots yes we have [TS]

01:10:12   my last one was going to be and I don't [TS]

01:10:14   I can't remember i think he was an AI [TS]

01:10:16   but i think he got a body at the end of [TS]

01:10:18   the game so i was going to say he [TS]

01:10:20   counted was Arthur the sidekick from the [TS]

01:10:21   journeyman project video game series [TS]

01:10:24   oh man the journeyman project was great [TS]

01:10:27   i love the journeyman project was [TS]

01:10:29   beautiful [TS]

01:10:30   it's kinda hard to play but you look [TS]

01:10:31   great Steve yeah i had had glass has [TS]

01:10:35   mentioned earlier [TS]

01:10:36   yes I was picked in the computer draft [TS]

01:10:38   thanks thanks a lot computer draft I i [TS]

01:10:40   had from a quick i had like bot and or [TS]

01:10:43   Vlad both both superb robots mainly i [TS]

01:10:47   wanted to i bought so i could discuss [TS]

01:10:49   what the saddest thing is nobody knows [TS]

01:10:53   where i'm coming from you you know what [TS]

01:10:55   the saddest things [TS]

01:10:56   I had two XL who who taught me the [TS]

01:11:00   metric system as a child [TS]

01:11:02   thanks to a well-meaning family member [TS]

01:11:04   who thought every kid's dream is to have [TS]

01:11:05   the learn the metric system program for [TS]

01:11:08   2xl can I borrow that [TS]

01:11:11   2xl bender of course and as I mentioned [TS]

01:11:15   Vicki my like my pic in case the judges [TS]

01:11:18   irritated me know and my pics were [TS]

01:11:24   bender but my future i'm a backup with [TS]

01:11:27   calculus on my love Calculon with a name [TS]

01:11:30   like a calculator but he's actually just [TS]

01:11:31   incredibly be an actor pot biotron from [TS]

01:11:35   the Micronauts i have a biotron up on a [TS]

01:11:38   shelf in my in my house just a little [TS]

01:11:42   professor calculator qualify as a robot [TS]

01:11:44   I mean everything could be a robot when [TS]

01:11:48   you think of it that way Steve are there [TS]

01:11:51   was one in literally every home when I [TS]

01:11:53   was growing up it's true I i had rock [TS]

01:11:57   who was who was played by Ted Cassidy [TS]

01:11:59   from what what uh are little girls made [TS]

01:12:02   of great original series episode that he [TS]

01:12:04   was really creepy the oldest android he [TS]

01:12:08   spoke of the old ones who came thousands [TS]

01:12:12   of years ago [TS]

01:12:13   i Iike that was such a great character [TS]
