The Talk Show

127: ‘A Sack Full of Plucked Feathers’, With Guest John Moltz

did you hear something just go bing no good as the new setup working great it [TS]

comes with all these denials selective held set up this is my old setup was [TS]

just a mic and then add a USB and USB goes in your computer and that is [TS]

there's there's nothing else like a year this one has here's the box right here [TS]

at San onyx blackjack premium to buy two USB recording interface from Mackay it's [TS]

got a bunch of these dials and stuff you know look serious I mean it makes me [TS]

  feel very professional [TS]

it's a very nice piece of equipment but I've got all these dials to turn [TS]

Marco told me how to set it up he just sent me a picture into said just turn on [TS]

  the dials do this [TS]

yeah so I did alright man that thing wow really you the one that made out with us [TS]

160 like all of them has all this one is $125 two inputs something for the [TS]

monitor and then looks like you're bad you're bad interfaces of the day week or [TS]

whatever looks like it looks like an Access database gone wrong are you [TS]

sending it by Sky Breeze ending in [TS]

ICIC that it's shown up if I had just done with Marquez said in this edition [TS]

of my door I would adjust it would have been very cinematic it would've been one [TS]

of those things where would have opened you know you open the cardboard box from [TS]

Amazon and then I would have seen this and then it just set the box down he is [TS]

what ya I just started driving just drive right to the Atlantic Coast [TS]

blackjack you yeah yeah I got this I just that's more manageable you know [TS]

what that to me it looks like it might as well be this this it's five more [TS]

dollars that used to have five more dollars than I can handle is five times [TS]

as complicated as what youre is before I don't know if it's because I'm getting [TS]

older I don't know I think maybe it's a little bit of column a little bit of [TS]

column be like I don't think I've ever been very smart about dealing with [TS]

complex interfaces but you know the album music stuff you know and and and [TS]

iCloud photo librarian stuff I need I needed to be one day I like you know I [TS]

like one down right but you say I sound good so we'll take it [TS]

yeah yeah I think so what I now you've got crackerjack years right I am NOT [TS]

know I've actually been strongly I bought a couple of Bluetooth headphones [TS]

when I got the Apple watch ya and was gonna write up a thing about it but I [TS]

just don't feel like I can do it because neither one of them is good [TS]

which ones do I get really cheap and that's the thing is I feel like I should [TS]

try 131 so that's it [TS]

don't buy once there's thirty we don't feel like it's great advice I don't know [TS]

if you remember I would join us journalist on a few weeks ago back in [TS]

april we both about the same ones he's beat went which are overpriced [TS]

great whatever to what does work ok yeah I think so that thing was is that we [TS]

both were complaining about latency and then it was follow up a week or two [TS]

later some kind listener of the show was a dude you gotta get the firmware update [TS]

and I'm like firmware update for headphones I mean what the hell happened [TS]

is the honest to god truth to go to beat audio and you tell them you got the [TS]

beats whatever they're called Bluetooth and then you you get a download and it [TS]

once you got once I got the download and install that it really did it I wouldn't [TS]

say it fixed the latency because I'm still you know I'm used to the juror [TS]

latency of wired had fun but it's the latency after installing the software [TS]

update on these on these beats was like what you would expect from Bluetooth [TS]

headphones you know it's like a fraction of a second liens he but it's reasonable [TS]

one of these would not wouldn't with shipping and the other one was and i [TS]

wanna running and the other one was rattling well I do think I Marco tweeted [TS]

yesterday asked if anybody running iOS 9 beta is experiencing like some skips and [TS]

fall out with Bluetooth had fun and I hadn't really thought about it but i i [TS]

think I was I think I am and it's so it's it's like the beauty of you switch [TS]

to bluetooth headphones is that now you're susceptible the software bugs and [TS]

regressions break we've taken to see we've taken a look at it we've taken [TS]

this thing that worked perfectly since before we were born right like 1970 [TS]

whatever would we were born where you know for use 68 whatever [TS]

that is you know their headphones you plug the man and then you hear what [TS]

you're supposed to hear and it works till you step on the headphones and now [TS]

we've replaced it with something that when you upgrade your operating system [TS]

maybe your headphones don't work so he did you know well now I have a new pair [TS]

of them wearing as we speak right now because this thing has that big [TS]

yeah and so I Marco say to him right now Marco told me I had it you know you say [TS]

you have an adapter for sure I do but god oh you know who the hell knows where [TS]

it is and he goes well then you should get new headphones too so i got now now [TS]

wearing a pair of Marco approved headphones as well but thanks to [TS]

cleaning out my basement I know exactly where my adapter is really you do you or [TS]

him I said it's one of those big coiled you know it's a long cable and it's one [TS]

of those springing cables through so I can walk around cuz you know back in the [TS]

day you want to listen to music and walk around the room and do so what can I do [TS]

that that was what was that was bluetooth headphones back then it was a [TS]

truly cable is a good move your stereo are you still need to move around and it [TS]

wasn't like he could put it in your pocket was the other thing before that I [TS]

put my headphones for that kind of Jack for there was before the water came out [TS]

yeah nice big fat had fun right so anyway yeah rather than by a $2 adapter [TS]

  about $200 pair [TS]

but but in my defense my my headphones I had been wearing were they still work so [TS]

I can't say that there you know somewhere [TS]

depression-era grandparents are coming out of the grave to kill but they still [TS]

work but there they date back to to light when I was doing the show it damn [TS]

Benjamin I mean they're pretty old and and the the leather on the thing that [TS]

goes over yet to solve peeling off whether it's quote-unquote leather yeah [TS]

it's all right and so like every time I record a show now or do I get these new [TS]

headphones little darlings are flowing well I was done with the show the first [TS]

thing I would do would be like to shake my shake by Harry flakes of leather ad [TS]

out so I thought why not splurging get into serious you're worth it [TS]

deserve it and here's a year two years to rate this version of the shower this [TS]

shows up gotta be up to three years now right cause this is episode 127 yeah [TS]

  three years old [TS]

  everything sold [TS]

so what else is going on to do you have talked about music on 2009 oh well you [TS]

know what do we should talk about that I talked about it with our own poll and [TS]

and it was the day that jim has posted his well I lost 3 700 songs and then the [TS]

show went into editing I think we're gonna win but it wasn't gonna air for [TS]

like four days and in the meantime he got called an apple and erode follow-up [TS]

and so was his call but he takes some of the music stuff out cuz it's not really [TS]

you know it's a danger of recording a podcast as opposed to live broadcasting [TS]

I thought it was funny but he took some of that but we could talk about what the [TS]

hell he took out but have you with your experience been like anything like his [TS]

work I have hardly done anything with it that's the thing yeah we were on [TS]

vacation when it first came out and I signed up for it so who knows maybe my [TS]

music is gone I don't know I haven't looked but I said I signed up for it you [TS]

know cuz it's free for a couple of months and I wanted to try the radio [TS]

stuff out which is new to me i mean you know the old guys never tried to [TS]

streaming stuff I guess I've tried Spotify but it didn't really stick for [TS]

me and I tried to radio but I don't know I haven't really done anything it seems [TS]

like all my music is still there but I am terribly confused though because I'm [TS]

I'm I'm another one of these people were I do pay for iTunes Match I do have [TS]

thousands of songs that I ripped from CDs but now I've got the Apple music [TS]

  what about you [TS]

yeah I didn't count my songs before a joint service so I have no way of [TS]

knowing if anything is missing or not actually as far as I can tell I mean [TS]

other than going back and looking for specific songs but they're not gonna do [TS]

so I have not I can't say that I've experienced any losses things that I [TS]

brought to the table in the gyms host was that I had a mean I had used it and [TS]

kinda liked it I mean it was like listening to the curated playlists and [TS]

like listen to the radio stuff and then I kind just forgot about it a little bit [TS]

and that's kind of the way I've been using streaming services anyway it is [TS]

I'm I had these playlists that I make music that I own and I usually end up [TS]

listening to those and then when I get bored with it was I'll go undue [TS]

discovery through some streaming service basically just say okay there's some of [TS]

the songs I like me some other stuff like this stuff and then usually what I [TS]

do is I got my body just under 10 years old so I kinda glad you know I gone into [TS]

that other third phase again where I was just listen to things that I owned and [TS]

then jim's post reminded me of music is out there and they went back and I tried [TS]

again and I still i mean I agree that the the interface is kind of confusing [TS]

like I really don't quite understand the difference between some of the tabs but [TS]

I do like it for music discovery quite a bit I think the playlists are good and I [TS]

generally find something that I want to keep that I started listening to it for [TS]

any extended period of time and then the other thing I recently just tried the [TS]

time before al is picking a song and then saying tell you to make a channel [TS]

off thats on which I think works really well so as far as for using it for music [TS]

discovery I really kind of like it and then the other thing that I like about [TS]

it is because I do so many playlists because I manage my playlists myself it [TS]

will sink those to the cloud now so I don't have to sink back and forth [TS]

between my phone and macro my music is on to get the playlist honor yes I don't [TS]

even listen there's really just what do you do you just pick songs are you want [TS]

  it wasn't immediately I don't know [TS]

I don't really listen to a lot of music is the is the realization that I am to [TS]

you I am really looking forward to it I wanna get it in my car somehow things I [TS]

need like a new car I guess is that what you get is I have died because I have my [TS]

phone in my car I have in my car [TS]

yeah well I can put my phone in my car but I can't really hope my phone up to [TS]

  my car [TS]

ok well used them I just need a new stereo well again when I get $200 but [TS]

you don't necessarily have to go out and buy a new car again be a lot easier had [TS]

the money I need to get out because they are so we're gonna have to buy a new car [TS]

here's sign the cosine she's just the only name on it but I thought the do you [TS]

get your license back why did I i [TS]

I think it's such an ambitious undertaking the whole Apple music thing [TS]

and I totally understand the I you know the one foot on the shore one foot on [TS]

  the boat [TS]

you know it's kind of hard to make this shift from being a download focused [TS]

service that you don't want to just pull the plug on and that you still want to [TS]

support so if people do just wanna buy albums you can still do it to this news [TS]

streaming thing you know I told you realize how complex this is and I agree [TS]

with you there on the content side I think they nailed it I think you know [TS]

from everything I've heard people really like these stations [TS]

the ones that are you human curated people really believe in like beets one [TS]

yeah which I'm not but I don't i can i can i mean to me that's like that was [TS]

the whole purpose of this music draws this was to get away from that kind of [TS]

thing I kinda wanna hear somebody talking you know it's not for me but I'm [TS]

kind of amazed that so many people seem to like yeah I to me I think it's sort [TS]

of trying to be when MTV was in the eighties [TS]

you know here's what everybody's listening to you know where everybody is [TS]

people who care about new music but you know me like when we were in the [TS]

eighties there was just one MTV and like you know the top 10 countdown everyday [TS]

at five o'clock whatever time it came on weird play everything from Motley Crue [TS]

to Madonna to you know Lionel Richie you know they're worried it wasn't really [TS]

segregated by genres you know it was just here is popular music everything [TS]

from heavy metal to dance music or whatever you want to call it and you [TS]

know here's what's new and I feel like that's sort of what they're trying to do [TS]

with beat one yeah but on the flip side you know somebody has to make an app [TS]

that presents all this and I do think it's kind of complicated and the other [TS]

complaints that I've heard from some people and you know maybe it's just the [TS]

nature of the sort of people who like to read my stuff you know that it's picky [TS]

people but the thing that seems to drive some people really crazy is that if you [TS]

don't sign up for our music and you do not even interested in it [TS]

the new music app is Blake there's tabs that just don't apply to you anymore you [TS]

know and the other thing I I know that people have complained about it when you [TS]

do sign up rebel music it puts my music last minute abs raid and I thought that [TS]

was sort of a weird thing to complain about it's sort of like you know is the [TS]

is the rightmost tab the least important to have I don't know but I brought up to [TS]

my wife and she Amy agreed she was like I [TS]

to meet she thought that implies you know that's the least important thing [TS]

where is it really like it might be you know depending on the size of your music [TS]

library you might have like 40 or 50 gigabytes of music and it's all stuffed [TS]

into one tab in the lower right [TS]

yeah I mean the nice things one of the improvements that I found was going in [TS]

you can turn off connect and restrictions I think it's sort of it you [TS]

know it's like like he did you don't want kids did you want your kid to have [TS]

the iPod Touch but you don't your kid to see you like to musicians wearing or [TS]

something like that I don't know I guess that's what that's worth but you can [TS]

turn off connect and then when you turn off connect it puts the playlist stabbed [TS]

in the spot where connectors so that was kind of nice that actually made a lot [TS]

better since I you know you so much and you don't really plan you don't really [TS]

connected and i screw you never leave the house so why would any connect I [TS]

haven't really heard one of the things I haven't really heard anybody follow up [TS]

on like his connect working is it is our people using it is it taking off is it [TS]

really is it is it is it paying all over again and nobody's using it or is it [TS]

  somewhere in between [TS]

yeah I haven't seen anybody talk about it really no not since it came out it [TS]

just it seems like it's like blogs for the artists in a way I mean they just [TS]

seem to posts where they are posted pictures and maybe a little commentary [TS]

but I didn't find it very interesting or useful at this point anyway did state [TS]

win something about like saying that they were they were gonna bring more to [TS]

it later but at this point I was not really it's just not the kind of thing [TS]

  that I'm interested in [TS]

so are you in iTunes Match customer no I haven't been so that makes it better I [TS]

feel like that's the point I feel like less of a problem now are the perfect [TS]

storm of the problem and it never worked well I don't know I think I was to see [TS]

this one of things I don't know if it's a couple I just tell the story again [TS]

we're anywhere where I to family plan there but I don't have many gigabytes of [TS]

music but she's she's got enough music where it's like her total it's pretty [TS]

big and it's like she could never seen her whole library to her phone and nice [TS]

know otherwise it would fill up so she got 228 gigabyte iPhone and now she can [TS]

sing all libraries and have tons [TS]

you know it's one of those things where I think with the 64 gigabyte phone [TS]

combined with like a photo librarian stuff it would be tight and with 228 [TS]

then she has plenty of room including every single song she has in her iTunes [TS]

library which is when she was so that if she can you know get in the mood to [TS]

listen to something she can listen to it and I don't know where she's had like [TS]

jeffries oldman work with cloud services it's like I would like setting up and it [TS]

would say that you know she wants it all there she doesn't have to stream it she [TS]

doesn't want the cloud icon she want all the music on the phone because she paid [TS]

for the giant 228 you about phone and it looks like it's all there and then it's [TS]

there and then you know couple months ago she came back from the gym and she's [TS]

mad at me because all of her music is in the cloud and I'm I got a campy and I [TS]

look at her music app and everything in the cloud and I can't explain it I don't [TS]

understand so the way it was before music yes music so the way I fixed it [TS]

for as I just turned her turned off my cloud match iTunes Match whatever it's [TS]

  called [TS]

and just woke her up by USB cable to a Mac and just synced it like the 2007 hey [TS]

you know just dropped iTunes said think all of the music all of our playlists [TS]

and i said i fixture iTunes cloud and she said thank you and I now she thinks [TS]

that I didn't cloud works perfectly well wasn't it wasn't the whole thing with [TS]

match that you could just you just sign up once and it would match your Lee [TS]

previous catalog and then you basically give you rides everything that you got [TS]

from her and whatever and then when you don't have just then he just can cancel [TS]

your subscription after the funeral for the second year in a really needed it [TS]

unless you want it in her situation she was one of the clouds so she would [TS]

really ask that first year having need nineteen right but there was supposed to [TS]

be a way that you could just say but I also want all my music on the device you [TS]

know yeah yeah I don't want to have to put down by then anyway and that is that [TS]

is definitely currently the one thing that I find completely fiddly I don't [TS]

quite understand yet is because I like having it all on the device to partially [TS]

because I have a Sonos and I won't play no place like home soon as there has to [TS]

be on the device at least until they get music which they said they're going to [TS]

be doing but if I wanna play something on the Sooners that has to be on my [TS]

  phone [TS]

you know I have to have something I've never physically someplace obviously [TS]

can't play it from Apple's cloud because there's nothing about Apple's so and [TS]

just trying to do that often before tells me but I think it's got a little [TS]

bit easier with an update the recently did because I think maybe I just knew it [TS]

was there before and I just missed it but now you can go into like a playlist [TS]

and just say make this entire playlist available offline I don't know should [TS]

download all the music so my suggestion my suggestion that and it was just a [TS]

flipping off and maybe I'm just waving my hands here and there's good reasons [TS]

for it but my suggestion tossed out there is why not make it an all new app [TS]

just have an album Music app and then if you sign up for a pop music used Apple [TS]

music app and it streams all the radio and the thing I'm thinking just loosely [TS]

maybe I'm being stupid somehow maybe I'm overlooking something and yes if you [TS]

have an iTunes library of songs that you already own that app could just see [TS]

those songs and show them to you but it would never try to delete delete them or [TS]

  do anything [TS]

magic with them and then you have two apps and if you don't want Apple could [TS]

just keep using iTunes yeah which would play your music and iTunes could be i [TS]

didnt and an apple music could be this app that much like the new photos from a [TS]

cap is like a clean slate both in terms of like the interface it presents and in [TS]

terms of the online banking stuff that it's supposed to do and there are a [TS]

bunch of people like reactions are you know a lot of the stuff I write often [TS]

gets polarized reactions but this was so completely polarized blew me away we're [TS]

like it seemed like half the people responding to that were like yes exactly [TS]

you know this is exactly what I should have done and the other half where [TS]

you're an idiot you're completely missing the fact that the entire [TS]

but here's what's funny I kind of agree with both sides obviously I agree that [TS]

says this sounds like an interesting idea and the people this AM an idiot [TS]

which is like half the the reaction we're saying the entire point of this is [TS]

to have all of your music and one up you know one was the the slogan it WBC was [TS]

one thought about music and I see the appeal of that but my my response to [TS]

that response I guess is one thought about music sounds good it sounds like a [TS]

good idea but I'm saying if you look at the actual software specially iTunes on [TS]

Mac OS Windows which is probably the same it it's it's just it more [TS]

complicated now than it ever has been and we've been complaining about how [TS]

complicated it is four years [TS]

at least since like the iPhone came out right i mean sometime around that era is [TS]

when people started complaining that iTunes is getting you know too much I [TS]

shoulders and now with Apple music in there to its more than ever it's all of [TS]

the store it still has you can still buy it I S apps in iTunes so it's all the [TS]

music store the entire iOS App Store but not the Mac App Store all of your music [TS]

that you own and now it's got all of that music stuff that you subscribe to [TS]

to me that's an awful lot that you're asking what happened to do [TS]

yeah it does it's easy to say that cuz we don't know the real reasons why they [TS]

actually won a particularly right but at this point it's just right and I want to [TS]

  tell you [TS]

unwieldy rate Marco mentioned it to in his post that you know the season to [TS]

think of a lot of reasons why they didn't go that route why they made it [TS]

fully considered it and decided not to go that route and I am NOT saying they [TS]

should have I'm just twice in this as an idea of maybe they could have and maybe [TS]

  things will be better [TS]

the one thought that occurs to me about it is it might have taken a lot longer I [TS]

  mean look how long [TS]

photos for Mac took it was announced that WWDC last year and they even said [TS]

when they announced it would be early 2015 I think they said early 2015 or at [TS]

least they they said it you know not coming soon and it still didn't ship it [TS]

didn't come out of beta until late April or May I mean it was very close to a [TS]

year after they announced it at the BBC 2014 before photos from Mac shipped not [TS]

as a beta for Mac it it absolutely takes longer to start over even if your goal [TS]

is to have a simpler less complicated interface so maybe that's the main [TS]

reason that it's always easier [TS]

to just keep tacking onto iTunes then take the time to start something no one [TS]

of these opinion pieces or someone says that Apple's the new Microsoft which i [TS]

think is ridiculous but this is like one instance where a kind of does apply at [TS]

iTunes does seem like it's just become so overburdened with added features that [TS]

is likely office was back in the early two thousands [TS]

well it is is a general rule the idea that you just keep taking into this one [TS]

is sort of the Microsoft in loose you know general terms that sort of a [TS]

Microsoft Way of doing things and not the Apple way of doing things [TS]

yeah and they've never gotten it had never gotten rid of anything it seems [TS]

like you know we used to go through the through that throughout the 2012 movie [TS]

and things like that where they would take something in the deadly blow it up [TS]

and start all over again and you lose things but it often you'd end up with [TS]

their app and in this instance they just don't seem to be doing at all what about [TS]

they still have to they still have podcasts in iTunes I know and I West [TS]

that see that's another at a perfect example rights on iOS they they yes oh [TS]

and iOS they they created entirely separate podcast app and on the whole [TS]

it's it's what matters anyway because I mean I know from the stats from the show [TS]

that most people listen to podcasts on their phone there some kind of mobile [TS]

device you know make sense but it's crazy that on the desktop they still [TS]

have podcasts in there too right [TS]

it's a maybe that's another sign of the Mac as a second-class citizen iowa's [TS]

that they don't make a stand-alone utility with a client is the biggest [TS]

usage by client yes well for me it's overcast but there's a little bit of [TS]

  selection bias there [TS]

yes without question is because you know during forward Darren fireball readers [TS]

and listeners of the show are way more likely to see even know I've heard of [TS]

overcast let alone you know be smart enough taxes and somebody sent me after [TS]

I tweeted I think I tweeted that I treated the stats that I get from [TS]

SoundCloud which israel is the idea for this and they had they said that they're [TS]

like the producer unlike a general interest [TS]

podcast seemed pretty popular as you know something like twenty or thirty [TS]

thousand downloads per episode and for them [TS]

overcast was way down i mean it wasn't even close it was even it was even [TS]

behind other clients just because it hasn't been out as long but yeah but i [TS]

dont get it I'm trying to look it up here [TS]

stats it it doesn't say podcast for iOS it's called like it's the background [TS]

process that does the downloading ok so you probably can't tell the difference [TS]

between that apple core media yeah it was the difference between that and well [TS]

we all know you know but then it says so here's my here's my stats for the [TS]

previous episode with Jason's episode [TS]

so for the RSS version which is just about everybody overcast its 29,000 [TS]

apple corer media iPhone which I take to mean the podcast app on iPhone about [TS]

17,000 then there's iTunes which is 4500 and I think that's iTunes on the Mac [TS]

Apple Corps media iPad so it's interesting how do you get a broken out [TS]

between iPhone and iPad is 2700 mozilla is 2400 and I think Mozilla means see [TS]

this is where I guess I think it means anybody listened in any browser because [TS]

you know like every browser says that they're like Mozilla because there's no [TS]

freakin way that Mozilla would come in the real actual come in ahead of Safari [TS]

and then downcast at a respectable 1900 pocket casts 1700 instant cast castro [TS]

and then weigh down it two hundred poor old apple core media for iPod very sad [TS]

not many and I think I would have said OJ year ago to joke that one of them was [TS]

John Siracusa but now he's got three now so I do have good stats like that it's [TS]

interesting but to me it's crazy that they still stick podcasts in iTunes and [TS]

I wonder if some of it is just about put it in a different app now that people go [TS]

not open the other after we leave for like a new service like music well and I [TS]

guess and a guest it so that there's you know i mean they're called I i even date [TS]

with this or blog and I always forget but you know it's funny that we call [TS]

them podcasts but nobody listens on iPods anymore everybody listens [TS]

I found some stuff but if you do listen to it on your iPod and it's not an iPod [TS]

Touch it's you know like an iPod iPod then I guess you still need the sink it [TS]

from iTunes so I guess I guess I understand why they haven't taken it out [TS]

for people who need to sync to an iPod but for anybody just wants to listen to [TS]

it I really think it ought to be a standalone app even on the Mac that you [TS]

know works just like the IRS podcast app yeah but what do I know maybe that's [TS]

next keeping that in the App Store for healthy be someday they'll come let me [TS]

take a break and thank our first sponsor is our good friends at Casper Casper [TS]

makes an obsessive re-engineered mattress at a shockingly fair price just [TS]

the right sink just the right pounds they don't they don't give you all these [TS]

different types of mattresses to choose from they've got one type of technology [TS]

they combine latex foam and memory foam they come together for one style of [TS]

mattress and you can sleep great on this thing [TS]

free delivery painless returns and their mattresses are made right here in the [TS]

USA right here in the USA [TS]

here's the prices of you know anything about HIV if you stop for a mattress any [TS]

time in your adult life you know that it's there's no other word for it that [TS]

iraq it's an absolute racket you go to like mattress USA or something like that [TS]

and you shop the Sealy or whatever brand new one and you write them down you [TS]

write down what they cost with the modern I'm sorry drive across town to [TS]

Mattress King or whatever the hell the next door is called and you look at the [TS]

same brand and you look at the mattresses they all have different names [TS]

and they so there's no way to compare they do this on purpose so that they [TS]

really is it like a rocket where they each store gets their own like model [TS]

names from the same manufacturer so that you can't price compare and all the [TS]

prices are high anyway and they've got you know 11 mattresses set up that late [TS]

on them in the retail story gross number one gross [TS]

ways to probably a very good way to get lice here's the prices from Catherine [TS]

  500 bucks for it [TS]

2424 twin size mattress 954 a king size mattress and then in between 20 and King [TS]

her the price points in between 509 $5,950 for a premium king size mattress [TS]

is crazy you're never gonna beat that at like retail mattress stores in [TS]

outstanding price point for a great mattress here's the thing that you don't [TS]

get to try it before and you don't forget to sit on it or anything like [TS]

that you gotta trust it but here's the deal they have guaranteed I think it's [TS]

like 40 days I don't know some hundred days hundred day guarantee so you buy [TS]

this thing it shows up for free and and a back room package in in this crazy box [TS]

it's like the size of a big big dorm room refrigerator shows up they give you [TS]

a special tool you take it up to the bedroom where you want it to open this [TS]

thing up and it makes a really cool sound and it sucks up all the air and [TS]

then all of a sudden you've got a mattress you've got a hundred days from [TS]

that point to sleep on this thing and if you don't like it you just go to their [TS]

website no hassle they did go there I don't like this mattress give me my [TS]

money back and then they take care they send a UPS guy to like get the mattress [TS]

at your house and that's it that's how sure they are that you're gonna like I I [TS]

don't think anybody ever it takes take them up on it a great mattress they sent [TS]

me one last year it it's like brand new right now [TS]

so here we go to find out where you shopping for a mattress you cannot beat [TS]

these guys the other cool thing I don't know how many of you guys live in New [TS]

York but my understanding is that if you live in New York City they are you can [TS]

get this like same day and they bring it with a good guy strapped to his back and [TS]

brings it to your house on a bicycle that's at how crazy these boxes so it [TS]

might be worth it to buy one of these just to see the guy show with the [TS]

  mattress on his back [TS]

here's the deal go to caspar dot com slash the talk show used to be casper [TS]

sleep dot com they got a better domain they upgraded its casper dot com C ASP [TS]

yaar dot com slash the talk show and by using that code the talk show I think if [TS]

you just go to the URL the coupon applied otherwise just remember the [TS]

coupon the talk show all one word and you'll save 50 bucks so they're already [TS]

low prices your save 50 bucks terms and conditions apply I don't know what the [TS]

terms and conditions are but it's a good deal and I know a lot of listeners have [TS]

taken him up on this and I've got a lot of feedback from people who are like [TS]

they really did sound crazy to buy a mattress from a podcast but I did and it [TS]

was great so my thanks to Casper one of the conditions is no lies no lies nobody [TS]

has ever nobody ever laid on this mattress is free [TS]

about the high road the other days just thinking about a pop music and the [TS]

problems people are having and the comp my problem seems to me like everything's [TS]

working for me it's just that I'm confused about how it's supposed to work [TS]

compare and contrast with the new iCloud photo library which I was more worried [TS]

about because I care much more about my photos that I do my music and I have [TS]

backups of everything I've got stuff but i just i don't know I just worried that [TS]

it wasn't going to work and you know I backed up my phone beforehand so that if [TS]

if I turned on this thing and it erased my photo library on my phone I could [TS]

just restore the phone to where I was before I turned it off I did you know I [TS]

backed up my back back to my phone turn this thing on [TS]

you know couple weeks ago whenever and it you know again everybody had the same [TS]

sort of first reaction if you have thousands of photos I think I've got [TS]

like seventeen or eighteen thousand photos total from my old iPhoto library [TS]

and what I took on the phone it did take awhile for them to sink initially I [TS]

don't know couple of days something like that and then but lo and behold like you [TS]

know maybe like a day or two two days after I signed up for this thing and [TS]

turned it on and all my devices all my devices have all my photos and when I [TS]

take a photo with my phone by the time I go to my Mac even if I'm just sitting at [TS]

my desk and I go to the photos out there it is it's right there at the bottom of [TS]

my you know all your photos it is [TS]

you know for people who say Apple never gets cloud services writer something [TS]

like this I would say the photos things seems like an example where they did [TS]

have you tried it I have not right now because just because I was afraid of [TS]

that initial sync process taking so long in also just the fact that I felt like I [TS]

was gonna have to read the storage space because I didn't think I was gonna be my [TS]

libraries and library but that's always been my problem is that I just have too [TS]

many pictures in a lot of crap and should be thrown away but i dont wanna [TS]

go through that process of going through every single thing and internet for what [TS]

you go on Wednesday so I have not done yet and you know we did I guess I [TS]

blogged about yesterday in a couple people on Twitter you know obviously [TS]

it's not working for a hundred percent of all people there's some you know I [TS]

don't know does anything ever work front of all people I don't know but it seems [TS]

to me like there are a lot fewer people encountering problems with my club photo [TS]

library then there are people encountering problems with the music and [TS]

conceptually to me it is very very simple it's all of your photos and all [TS]

of your eyebrows across all your devices in the future you know you have two [TS]

  options [TS]

download the originals to this device whether it's a Mac or iOS thing and that [TS]

means you get the original image that was taken from the camera or optimize [TS]

and this is this if there's something that's a little and wavy it's what does [TS]

this optimized photo storage mean you know somehow means you don't get on this [TS]

device you don't get the full res versions will iCloud will resize them to [TS]

you know make sense on your device so I guess you get smaller ones on your phone [TS]

  and bigger ones [TS]

back but in either case if you turn on optimized storage you're not going to [TS]

  get the original image [TS]

their complaint I've seen on Twitter from people is that even with optimized [TS]

photo storage on it still takes up too much space that it's taking up 10 or 20 [TS]

gigabytes on people's phones and they don't have that much space maybe because [TS]

they bought a 16 gigabyte founder twenty or thirty two or something like that [TS]

which is a reasonable complaint but then if you have a guest their argument would [TS]

be that if you have us a space constructed device during your entire [TS]

photo library even optimized is not a good idea for that device is I don't [TS]

know what the solution would be I guess I guess Apple couldn't theory store even [TS]

tinier thumbnails or something you know I'm not quite sure isn't that would be [TS]

kugel serving the Google service was down real I guess because it may be that [TS]

just is their web based roots showing because you know something like Flickr [TS]

or any kind of web based photos stored service it is the idea that it even [TS]

could download all your photos doesn't even make sense because there's no way [TS]

to get five megabytes of local storage or whatever the limit is for a website [TS]

with local storage that's stored in there as well there is OK SMI my labor [TS]

is almost 50 gigs your iPhoto library my photos library ok you have upgraded to [TS]

photos I've ever to photos yes how many times turned on how many how many [TS]

pictures 8516 it's the big things yeah probably yeah [TS]

the videos to yeah yeah yeah yeah they call it photos but it's it's it's just [TS]

like photos on your iPhone it really mean anything you shop with the camera [TS]

yea certainly very nice to have but I just don't feel like paying for an extra [TS]

is now well what do you saw on the three tier yeah I'm still in the area [TS]

gonna work but that raises a good point though that it's twofold would be which [TS]

was why is the free tier still just 5 gigabytes for this company with 200 [TS]

again and it seems like it always comes up when you're on the show it's like [TS]

let's paint him coaxed into an end to so we'll put it will put in our standard to [TS]

claim disclaimer that we understand we're not trying to say we're [TS]

know-it-alls and we know more than Apple how to spend money but you know and that [TS]

the way that you accumulate two hundred billion dollars in cash is by you know [TS]

  maybe not [TS]

willy nilly on every idea that too it is on a podcast say that you should spend [TS]

money I'm just saying it seems to me though given what other companies with [TS]

less money than Apple offer for free storage [TS]

it just seems to me like maybe Apple could be a little bit more competitive [TS]

in that regard as to how big the free tier is and that it would be in their [TS]

interests in terms of getting more people to use this you know that the [TS]

photo sinking which I think they've put a lot of work into and would like people [TS]

to use it in the flip side would be the 16 Gigabyte devices yeah [TS]

because even if you know and and this was like when I asked Phil Schiller on [TS]

  stage last month [TS]

part of his answer defending the 16 Gigabyte devices is that more and more [TS]

of people storage is cloud-based but even if you know as as these people [TS]

responding me on Twitter pointing out even if you turn on optimized photo [TS]

storage if you have a lot of photos it's still consumes a lawful lot of storage [TS]

on your device or at least awful lot if you have a 16 gigabyte device yeah if [TS]

you have a 16 gigabyte device you basically don't own rooms where it's [TS]

really it's just and I lived with a four gig iPhone for two years [TS]

well I think it makes sense this is one of the differences between music and [TS]

photos if you just use the streaming for Apple music I guess it makes a lot of [TS]

sense on a 16 gigabyte device right that you don't have anything stored locally [TS]

almost nothing that it really is just cashed and you're listening to the you [TS]

know the beat when radio station or something like that that's fantastic [TS]

right that you can listen to a wide variety of music you can search for [TS]

music you can get the urge to listen to a certain artists and as long as you've [TS]

got the bandwidth of you you know you know why fire enough space on your [TS]

cellular plan you can just listen to it without worrying about the storage but [TS]

with the photos even again there's just no way to to to participate in this if [TS]

you have a lot of photos in your library without using some significant degree of [TS]

local storage and 16 gigabytes just is is pretty brutally short for that [TS]

they don't really sell any degree from them or do they not new but they but not [TS]

not top tier but if you go and buy like an iPhone 5 seed it's only a guess it's [TS]

still yeah absolutely I guess so yes 0 for all my concern that song by an [TS]

unlikely if there's a mine now if there's a by now and next button next on [TS]

the website I guess yes technically it is but I think your only choice yeah [TS]

your only choice if you buy a 55 today is to get any good and you know it's [TS]

just the way they work so if they don't move the baseline for the brand new top [TS]

tiers success and success plus which again I'm just getting that what they're [TS]

gonna do in September if they don't move the base line up to 32 then I don't know [TS]

what they're gonna do you know if they keep the storage tiers the same it seems [TS]

like all the storage tiers will be the same and then the mid tier one is still [TS]

gonna be only 16 gigabytes and low and one might still only be eight gigabytes [TS]

of it seems completely crazy I mean the good news is that they have have done [TS]

the work to make iOS 9 require a lot less storage space initially to upgrade [TS]

which is it was definitely mean they've pretty much flat out said it was a [TS]

  problem at WMC [TS]

privacy but for a lot of this stuff it really is you couldn't even upgrade your [TS]

phone right and it's like it really it really starts to do it with especially I [TS]

think with the camera stuff really starts to directly conflict where it's [TS]

like how can they brag about how nice the camera is and how [TS]

how high the quality is a video store about four pictures right [TS]

take one panoramic photo burst mode up to two images now I know we talked I [TS]

think we've talked about this before but would you would you go back to Florence [TS]

that's a great question I in theory I would in fact I just spent almost a week [TS]

using my four inch iPhone 5 ask because I had Apple iOS nine on it and I put my [TS]

sim card in it you know actually try I have since gone and upgraded made my [TS]

regular iPhone 6 to the latest iOS beta because it's that it I at least remain [TS]

don't you know you go to switch to the highest bidder in your phone dies don't [TS]

don't complain to me but for me at least it is it seems at least a solid as I so [TS]

why not and I really really like San Francisco fun tonight it's good for [TS]

testing and stuff but I spent a week using it on my 5s before aid took the [TS]

plunge with my phone sex and I really really liked it really really love I [TS]

love the size and I know that the screen is smaller and you know rocketing [TS]

towards needing reading glasses so I appreciate the bigger screen size but [TS]

just as something to carry around I i i would do it but the big butt is here's [TS]

here's how I think they're gonna do the phones this year and I don't think it's [TS]

hard to predict I think they'll come out with iPhone 6 as an iPhone 6 plus and [TS]

they will be exactly at the prices of the current iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 place [TS]

and it will have a new a nine system-on-a-chip instead of the eight [TS]

and 11 new camera in both [TS]

I guess when people say the rumors that there's gonna be a a rose gold option [TS]

that makes sense to me and you know just like when they first went to the iPhone [TS]

5 s was when they added the gold just so this is something that looks like them [TS]

different yeah and you can't say you can tell at a glance this is the new one who [TS]

knows maybe though even-handed eyes the the aluminum differently go from space [TS]

greatest piece black or something like that on the black one but just you know [TS]

just a color difference or something like that then I think one teardown they [TS]

will have a new phone called the iPhone 6 see which would be I think four inches [TS]

possibly all new colors compared to the five see I was being so we'll probably [TS]

the iPod colors that's exactly like instead of that sort of past le pallet [TS]

may be more of like a bold bolder colors like the new like the new iPods yeah [TS]

exactly what you mean they come in silver and gold to yeah well but I don't [TS]

think they would do that with class you don't think they would do those with [TS]

these are no there are limited but I think colors like those colors yeah but [TS]

I think it'll be the same type of plastic case that the five C as in you [TS]

know just just with new colors AAA [TS]

the camera from the six i phone sex and because the case of sticker you won't [TS]

have the little nubbins to get a little sit flush it'll be just like an iPhone [TS]

sex except a four-inch screen and a plastic exterior which is a great phone [TS]

and I'll be very tempted by a but I suspect by the bigger one because I want [TS]

the camera really even more than the bastards system-on-a-chip as I want the [TS]

best camera possible I think I might get it [TS]

I would be very tempted I think I really just prefer that size and and I held one [TS]

of those printed 15 see them before but held again recently and I really liked [TS]

it I just felt really good and in the plastic given the plastic that's a nice [TS]

plastic and the seams are well put together a nice little phone so I [TS]

actually think I'm gonna go where you have right now at six so it seemed the [TS]

same phone just a smaller smaller size in plastic [TS]

64 so that would be that would be a question for ya I wonder if they do well [TS]

actually no I think the iPhone 5 at 16:16 32 so what you need is you need [TS]

Apple to the minimum rate they would have to if they go 32 64 128 then the [TS]

two tiers for the mid tier one would be 32 and 64 yeah I I could say I could see [TS]

them doing it I really could and then and then I think the I guess the 50 S [TS]

moves down to become the the free phone that is a little weird that's where it [TS]

maybe they keep the five see around you know and have the five see in the [TS]

sixties it is it is a little weird at the bottom party at the bottom was with [TS]

was confusing to me what do they do down there they have to have a free phone [TS]

right and it gets the reason it seems a little weird to have the five SP the [TS]

free one is without turning it on and without knowing what the specs are of [TS]

the system on a chip or the camera [TS]

it just looks like it the more premium device compared to the plastic five see [TS]

so I don't know they could just do a 5s 5s internals and plastic yeah but what [TS]

they call it they already have a five see five ccs this is the Apple circa [TS]

1993 would have been done for me to perform at the iPhone perform performace [TS]

6400 CD of course it's called the CD has a compact disc player 640 I CD it has [TS]

wifi of course we have to put an eye on what do you think [TS]

do you think you think you're gonna go smaller if I can get 64 I think I will [TS]

if it if what we're describing is what it is a bit if it's basically iPhone 6 [TS]

internals and a plastic case in the cases are not the current ones the [TS]

colors are not the current ones they're more like the current iPod ones in the [TS]

current place see how can I get 64 gigs I will probably go with 666 see i think [TS]

im sexy and I told you I do and having spent a week with it just now and I've [TS]

never done that before you know like I usually buy you know nine months into [TS]

the iPhone cycle I can't go back to the old one cuz it feels too slow but the 5s [TS]

to meet only hold up and it feels a little bit slower than the six but not [TS]

much Its a really good found a 5-2 me like probably the best I've ever made [TS]

like it's hot it's held up passage prime better than any previous phone and I [TS]

miss that form factor great detriment to that phone to me is that this was the [TS]

  pinnacle [TS]

from technology and just the way that the sides are flat and the size of it [TS]

feels to me like I couldn't drop it if I wanted to just it just feels like a [TS]

probable whereas the six just feels it still feels like it's it's a slippery [TS]

the bar soap every time you take it out [TS]

yeah well they don't let us know that you let me do another sponsor and it is [TS]

our good friends this it is a coincidence I i dont said these [TS]

schedules but to me it's as they're happy to sort of coincidence that works [TS]

out at it shows that we're living life rate John it's our friends at Hull 08 [TS]

you lol they make you know if they make them make pillows [TS]

have ever tried to buck we hold pillow I'm sorry but we whole [TS]

dealer I made it popular it's been popular for centuries throughout Asia [TS]

yes oh yes so it is a matter of fact I have it it's you know and and very broad [TS]

terms it is like a sort of like a bean bag pillow but they're not means it's [TS]

buckwheat hulls sounds crazy I know when I first heard about that stupid but it's [TS]

not you get it's also very heavy very heavy it's it's a pillow stuffed with [TS]

these buckwheat holes you know it shake it shake it like a bean bag is that it [TS]

is makes it much more adjustable pillow conforms perfectly to the shape of your [TS]

head and neck and it really works matter how you sleep to sleep but flat on your [TS]

back on your belly side doesn't matter the pillow you know just tough it up a [TS]

little bit and it fits perfectly air here's the big difference one of the big [TS]

differences and I've notices the air flows freely through the buckwheat holes [TS]

  still to fill [TS]

keeps it cool long the pillow doesn't get hot because of your hot sweaty [TS]

disgusting head like a traditional western style pillow how do you adjust [TS]

the thickness what if it but if you think that that the pillow as it comes [TS]

out of the box is too thick easy are you do dis unzip it there's there's a [TS]

covered take cover off just take some of the buckwheat hulls out and in the [TS]

Avatar pillow just take them out it's it's gonna be easier [TS]

here's another product that is made in the USA with quality construction [TS]

quality materials really really nice preshrunk durable twill cotton case a [TS]

high-quality hidden zipper from Dunlap and the buckwheat holes are grown and [TS]

milled in north dakota good old USA it's a very environmentally friendly and [TS]

organic product there's no chemicals no phones no bird feathers 100% unbleached [TS]

certified organic cotton on the outside and you know it it's the same type of [TS]

thing you get a deal sixty days by this pillow you got sixty nights and if [TS]

you're not satisfied we'll give you a full refund no questions asked just take [TS]

prices small size 49 bucks you can save five bucks on each additional one you [TS]

get standard is 79 and in king size pillows 129 here's where you go you go [TS]

to hullo pillow hu L O P I L L O W hu hello hello dot com slash talk show [TS]

know that just / talk show [TS]

and 1% of all of their profits are contributed to the nature conservancy so [TS]

you can do thanks to the show alone you can totally redo the ways get a new [TS]

mattress can a new pillow insert your own says welcome to our bowlers they are [TS]

already buying a used one in Japan [TS]

its it sounded crazy to me apparently it again I know it's part of the material [TS]

they gave me but from what I've gathered it actually is very common and yeah yeah [TS]

and that's not even the one thing that is really well as neck support problems [TS]

this is probably earliest solution because that's where I spend most of my [TS]

  day [TS]

configuring my pillow for neck support for before I guess I'm cuz I'm old so [TS]

something like this helps a lot I know it's it's one of those things where you [TS]

know let's face it a hundred years and now they're gonna look back at this and [TS]

everybody is probably gonna be a vegetarian [TS]

you know all the stuff we're doing well I would like that grown that meet grown [TS]

in a lab that's what I'm hoping for but I'm I'm an old man hopefully it will be [TS]

able to switch to that because I was gonna say is it is kind of disgusting to [TS]

think about the fact that a lot of you know a lot of us slept a lot of time [TS]

sack plucked birds they give you don't call it a pillow and you just call it a [TS]

sack full of blood feathers its [TS]

in little weird well we're laughin cuz its weird and gross but if you'd step in [TS]

and take a deep breath and think about it seems a little inhumane I have to say [TS]

it which I realized naked goose walking around right which is you know which is [TS]

a little bit have you know hypocritical from someone who eats two or three [TS]

states a week ago I realized that somewhere there's a cow about to be [TS]

slaughtered to be turned into a steak who is like a few want to pluck my hair [TS]

out much prefer let's make a deal to see that the thing with that el chapo guy [TS]

down in mexico no you don't see this the drugs the drug guy who who broke out of [TS]

prison so I forget his real name but everybody just calls em chapo he's a [TS]

Mexican drug lord campaign sort of it was the guy who was the head of the [TS]

medellin cartel back in the eighties was a famous is the guys you know hundreds [TS]

and hundreds of millions of dollars in drug profits and you know couple of [TS]

years ago they caught him and they locked him up and he busted out of [TS]

prison and he went on the lam and then you know the us- got involved and last [TS]

year they caught him again and apparently with what they said was kind [TS]

of an interesting story it's read it is that the official story was that it was [TS]

with some intelligence from the United States and then the Mexican national [TS]

their equivalent of the FBI busted the guy at like a resort hotels in Mexico [TS]

like light life on the lam was apparently really tough for this guy but [TS]

there's reports now from other people that it wasn't even the Mexican special [TS]

place it was us' DEA agents wearing the Mexican Federal Police uniforms just for [TS]

the optics you know that they do know that it didn't look it doesn't look at [TS]

the people in Mexico if you us' you know law enforcement agents are running [TS]

around Mexico but they arrested the guy and aus said let us take this guy [TS]

extradite him let us charges in the us- [TS]

I busted out and and as they were arresting them in you know arraigned in [TS]

whatever they call it the guy swore he stood up and he said you know I'm going [TS]

to bust out again and the Mexican government said no you know I'm not this [TS]

time we're putting a supermax prison in unbreakable and I and the other guy [TS]

broke out again broke out my my joke is that they run the place like Arkham [TS]

Asylum but there's video in his room there in there in the first place so the [TS]

story that they said the day after he broke out is that they somebody you know [TS]

sympathetic to his cause some of the guys from this is you know it's cartel [TS]

they they started making the building there is a building that was put up a [TS]

cinder block type you know very very simple structure about a mile outside [TS]

the prison and then inside this building this they dug a hole and they started [TS]

digging they dug a tunnel underneath the prison right into his cell and then they [TS]

cut like a little 20 inch by twenty cents a square hole in the shower in the [TS]

shower in his cell and so there's video footage is his cell was under [TS]

twenty-four hours seven days a week [TS]

surveillance video surveillance they have the footage he just peace in their [TS]

pacing for a couple of minutes and then he walks over to the bed put on a pair [TS]

of shoes and he walks into the shower and need and he just disappeared just go [TS]

  down [TS]

and apparently they're they're they're really good his cartel is sort of has [TS]

you know like mining level expertise digging these tunnels because apparently [TS]

that's how they get a lot of the drugs into the united states that they've [TS]

they've got a good network of tunnels like this but you know it's a mile and a [TS]

little you know hand and tunnel but but they had like a little track down there [TS]

pretty cool they have pictures of it you know they've shown the media they they [TS]

they rigged up like a dirt bike motorcycle on track so he didn't have to [TS]

call the whole way and they had like lights down there to it you know but [TS]

then he could just get on this little bite that on a track and then it would [TS]

just screwed on right out to this building and now and now he's gone [TS]

related is located in ventilated tunnel nearly a mile but now it appears there's [TS]

some there's some there's some controversy about it though because [TS]

apparently they have not let anybody from the media they've let people from [TS]

the media down into the tunnel and they've let people into his cell and [TS]

look at the whole that was dug and China flashlight down there but nobody has [TS]

verified that the tunnel goes all the way from this building right into his [TS]

cell and there's so the conspiracy theory is that he didn't even have to do [TS]

that he did that part was fake to there'd be like some kind of cover story [TS]

but that room getting out but yeah but that the corruption is so bad I was just [TS]

so many like just waltz them out the front door yet that you know somebody [TS]

you know decided you know and there's there's a couple people who work in the [TS]

prison who've been arrested all ready for you know not doing their jobs but [TS]

that maybe they took it you know maybe he cut them a deal where it's like you [TS]

know you and your family so much money you know you'll do a couple of years [TS]

five years but I'll make it worth your while and they did you know and then [TS]

they made this fake tunnel just have a cover story I don't know either way that [TS]

I know I like the previous [TS]

and we think that they made the whole time yeah I do too that's much more much [TS]

more romantic the other one is disappointing that is just simple [TS]

corruption I don't mean to laugh I mean it's you know right [TS]

kill anybody on the way out but somebody oh and the other thing this is the other [TS]

part that makes it so amusing is that he got into it or some either here or [TS]

somebody with his official Twitter account got into a bit of a ruckus with [TS]

donald Trump have you heard this is sleeping so does I guess he busted out [TS]

and Donald Trump it does fit right into donald trump's narrative that you know [TS]

that mexico is not to be trusted in you know that there's sort of a criminal [TS]

element road running while down there whatever I don't know donald Trump shut [TS]

his mouth off that if he were president you know nobody breaking out of you know [TS]

we did see that I didn't understand it [TS]

chapel was but but then after he shot his mouth off there is an official [TS]

Twitter account for el chapo that treated it better shut his mouth and [TS]

  back [TS]

  Japanese media intern [TS]

  angrily [TS]

  interesting on a resume [TS]

social social media manager for I just like they did think I busted out of the [TS]

second you know they had the most secure prison in all of Mexico for the second [TS]

time with all this publicity and he gets on Twitter and since starts getting [TS]

upset Nadal of trouble as bad if anybody out there is listening from campus group [TS]

highly respectful we are we are and who you know had talked to you for escaping [TS]

no no no it's implied we don't need any help shop open but i just i just googled [TS]

this chapo put 200 million dollar bounty for Donald Trump dead [TS]

well that's from TMZ I don't know if that's true yeah you know if only if it [TS]

comes straight from his Twitter account can you can you trust has the check mark [TS]

notified verified chapo what else is going on in a follow-up to follow up on [TS]

that with Jason snow on the previous episode we had talked about the new [TS]

pebble time and I complained about the mighty big complaint about the iPod [TS]

worry that the screen is very very low contrast I couldn't read it and the [TS]

partner too small and that the the the vibration alert is way too strong and [TS]

  powerful [TS]

so they came out in the meantime I guess they did listen to my show they put out [TS]

a software update that gives you a little bit of control over the screen [TS]

and over the tactic response and so i guess im email from people who like holy [TS]

cow you just complained about this you know they've fixed it doesn't really fix [TS]

either of them in my opinion the topic thing maybe a little bit but it still is [TS]

is tactic thing it seems to be installed the update it does seem like turning [TS]

that down lessens the feeling like I'm getting an electric shock when it [TS]

vibrates embarrassed but it still loud I still can hear it and brightness thing [TS]

isn't doesn't solve any of the problems at all because the brightness is only [TS]

when the back later on and it is brighter and that can help a little bit [TS]

but it doesn't help the contrast at all and it doesn't help at all with the lack [TS]

of contrast when the backlight isn't on at all so I still have to give a thumbs [TS]

down to the time the SmartWatch market share numbers that came out I guess so [TS]

yeah that's a that's part of the news from this week we're in the SmartWatch [TS]

doesn't say specifically Apple Samsung and others and people would think people [TS]

would be bigger than Samsung but I really have no idea about that Samsung [TS]

might be helpful but gotta rank somewhere on their they've sold you know [TS]

the only the only have three Apple Samsung and others so this is a strategy [TS]

Analytics saying that Apple ones capture 75% global SmartWatch market share and [TS]

cue to 2015 which doesn't mean it doesn't seem terribly surprising [TS]

even though even though nobody really knows I know nobody knows so there but [TS]

nobody wrong on the other hand over to know how many Samsung has ever ship [TS]

because Samsung stop eating all those numbers for everything not just for [TS]

watches but first smartphones and stuff to a while ago so you know I think [TS]

missus with Dan and on our show and why is Apple AAPL the one that seems report [TS]

all this stuff and nobody else yeah it's always a little funny to me at that [TS]

Apple which has long had the reputation as being the most secretive companies is [TS]

the one that you know the most about its sales and stuff like that and now that [TS]

they're not there's there's still being held to a different standard Amazon [TS]

doesn't even know what label on access I like the port numbers now sits now and [TS]

he was tweeting or posting some of the results you know from other companies [TS]

that posted stuff you know the last week or two [TS]

interminable is reported its quarterly results and couple other companies 22 he [TS]

calls them Amazon hurts so among the many charges he made for Apple's [TS]

quarterly results he made 14 Applewhite sales and it's just has a bunch of [TS]

quarters with nothing going up but then all I'm going up and with no access to [TS]

three sales are up I'm since before it was not the first quarter is really the [TS]

best trained shoot straight up [TS]

so I haven't really been paying attention what has happened to Apple's [TS]

stock price since then I know overnight when it first with the first release [TS]

  their results [TS]

their stock dropped 6 percent overnight it still down although it's not yet [TS]

returned a little bit well from the way they reported the results [TS]

yeah so its 122 now before they announced the results of its up around [TS]

like 130 thirty-two year yeah but it's been sort of flat since about February [TS]

you know going up and down but getting out of that same range which you know [TS]

again my financial expert but it it seems to make sense to me that large [TS]

very large and predictable companies should have a relatively stable stuck [TS]

like I don't know if it has been and I can laugh because i dont have my money [TS]

but I and I worry sometimes I was thinking about the other day that I [TS]

cracked jokes about the volatility of Apple's stock price and I occurred to me [TS]

that there's probably an awful lot of people who read during fireball listen [TS]

to the show who is very fun and again and I don't think it's you know I don't [TS]

think it's the needs over there you know there there are fans of Apple so they [TS]

put their money in Apple I think it's probably because they're smart people [TS]

and it's been a good buy for a long time [TS]

and I think that a reasonable person could reasonably expect that their [TS]

future is remained break so I just had nothing to do with you know investing in [TS]

the company's you're a fan it's right and i think that when they when they [TS]

reveal record-breaking quarterly results and this and the market cap drops fifty [TS]

billion dollars in after-hours trading it's not very funny at all where we [TS]

laughing I do think in all seriousness though I think and again I'm not an [TS]

expert I know I know that you know one of the strategic differences the company [TS]

has made in this Tim Cook area from the Steve Jobs era is that they've gotten [TS]

involved in the stock buybacks and the will call when you give money back to [TS]

the dividends the dividend I don't know maybe not so much but with the stock [TS]

buybacks they're actually you know it's it's a way to mitigate that because [TS]

presumably if Apple Smart they've waited until after they announce these results [TS]

to do more than that you know if they could if they are smart enough to [TS]

foresee that the that the fact that there's so many people whose [TS]

expectations were so high that this was considered disappointing even though it [TS]

broke records you know that's the nice thing about being an apple investor [TS]

currently is that even if the stock was flat there are other things that make an [TS]

attractive buy right right you know just sit there and hold it in your gonna more [TS]

money than you would compare compared to interest rates we're spending it like I [TS]

  do [TS]

but the five you look at the five-year good you know there's like there was a [TS]

big there was kind of a run-up in 2012 and then it came back down towards the [TS]

end but since then it's been climbing fairly steadily yeah if you smooth out [TS]

2012 to 2013 it still goes up but it's you know did in the long run clearly an [TS]

anomaly yeah yeah boy did we get there we got over the fear that Tim Cook was [TS]

not the man for the job [TS]

well it's but but the the the run-up was under Tim Cook to because Jobs died at [TS]

the end of 2011 I think there was sort of I think there was sort of them I [TS]

think there was a mania in 2012 where there was holy shit they didn't they [TS]

didn't just shut the door they didn't just shut the doors it seems like the [TS]

company is still you know employees are still showing up for work [TS]

the lights are still on in Cupertino so there is like a mania and they ran it up [TS]

and then there was the second half of the year which is some of the best clam [TS]

chowder of all time with the Apple board should fire Tim Cook why is it taking so [TS]

long for the Apple board that fired him [TS]

times good times about to get a bit there was a great time to be Tim Cook [TS]

said he was worried at all [TS]

al gore's have been written in sounds a little bit more like a bill clinton but [TS]

still bill clinton's on line 339 reading Business Insider [TS]

Forbes contributor to the stock is doing well the company is doing yeah I have a [TS]

lot of money and we still have five gigabytes of of iCloud storage a [TS]

gigabyte another another sponsored by the Center is a good it's a good segue [TS]

remember my me i wanna talk to you about the the new Steve Jobs movie but our [TS]

next month sir is our good friends at fracture you guys know fracture they are [TS]

the company you send you sign up you just go there you send them your photos [TS]

pick a favorite photo of yours [TS]

give it to them pick a size they printed directly on pure glass your photo right [TS]

on the glass they package it up [TS]

comes right to you and it in the package is everything you need [TS]

got a foam back you can just big it's got everything you need to mount it on [TS]

the wall they give you the screws you need for mounting on a wall [TS]

propped up on your mantle on your desk or something like that they've got [TS]

everything you need for that amazing packaging amazing print quality but [TS]

here's the thing it breaks you out of having everything digital and looking at [TS]

your photos of your family everything places you've gone to fight that it [TS]

breaks you out of only experiencing these things on screens right your Mac [TS]

or iPhone something like that brings them into the analog world and and [TS]

there's an emotional aspect to that it's it's just hard to explain trying to do [TS]

it right here but it's hard but it really does mean something to me at [TS]

least and and I know that in my house where do you know we like having the [TS]

pictures printed out and it really makes a difference and there's no better way [TS]

to do it than fracture [TS]

give your photos this is what they say give your photos the analog beauty they [TS]

deserve and it's amazing to me given how good the iPhone camera is how big you [TS]

can print a photo that you've taken with your phone and has to have it looked [TS]

good when it's hanging on the wall print it out I still in the back of my mind I [TS]

still think phone photo equals 640 by 480 you know don't printed very big are [TS]

you going to see the pixels or whatever it's amazing what photos from iPhone 5 [TS]

after six what they can look like when you're printing real big and fracture [TS]

does a great job of it so here's where you go to their website fracture [TS]

and the code for this show is daring fireball all one word and if it's your [TS]

first order you save 15% by using that code so go to fracture remember [TS]

the code during fireball you save some bucks to go print print print photo [TS]

trust me you can appreciate it said they've spotted the last year to they [TS]

sent me a nice picture complimentary you know part of our friendship them them [TS]

sponsoring the show and meet same things about him they sent me a print of me and [TS]

  Phil Charan Tej [TS]

right here in my office as as I was talking about me [TS]

I like that should have been the title of the episode I like most of my resume [TS]

he was mad that I cracked him as well he should be you could say what you want [TS]

about iCloud you can say what you want about 16 gigabyte funds but you start [TS]

cracking jokes about molds that your door so if you see in this is a new [TS]

documentary coming out about Steve Jobs the documentary yeah that was not the [TS]

only and it seems to me like they are guess it was done I don't even know why [TS]

the independent movie business seems so complicated because they screened at [TS]

South by Southwest this year which was March Alex Gibney and I i've seen some [TS]

of his movies I saw his Scientology movie going clear scientology in the [TS]

prison of belief which was really highly regarded and I find scientology [TS]

fascinating it's just such a weird crazy thing like it's a religion religious [TS]

cult fur which celebrities get letters I well I don't know your door [TS]

cult fur which celebrities get letters I well I don't know your door [TS]

you know I used to get a lot of Scientology paraphernalia ever tell you [TS]

that no well and I was growing up I read a lot of science fiction you want to say [TS]

i i consumed it differently I was at the word read as much of it graciously a [TS]

real as much of it as I can get at some point I read some of the books by ron [TS]

Hubbard Africa at the series I don't know is one of the you know something [TS]

some crazy shit that he wrote late YS that when they made the stupid now I [TS]

  read that one too [TS]

there was Battlefield Earth which is one novel and then there was another one [TS]

which is like a series of ten novels and and I didn't I did I didn't think it was [TS]

good and it was weird it seemed a swearing on not making this up I'm not [TS]

making this up it seemed weird to me and I was like 10th or 11th grade and it [TS]

seemed weird to me that the bad guys in this is space opera it was something [TS]

about aliens and you know most people on earth don't know the aliens are there [TS]

and then there's a good guys protecting our and there's bad guys from another [TS]

planet who are trying to take over the earth or something like that and the bad [TS]

guys are so psychiatrists yeah I thought that was a little weird until you look [TS]

into town and then suddenly begins right but I guess I guess I like mail ordered [TS]

the books or something like that was a nice time I started getting scientology [TS]

stuff in the mail and I i did not ask for that and I didn't even know it was [TS]

the same guy remember in the eighties there used to be commercials for the [TS]

  Dianetics all the time [TS]

yeah yeah yeah with exploding and stuff like that you know they sent me some [TS]

fight and my dad you know it wasn't like an intervention but my dad was like how [TS]

come all this stuff is coming for you [TS]

now as I know what I read this guys like you know you know star wars type book [TS]

and I guess they signed me up you know that I guess dad's advice was don't get [TS]

into this but anyway give me made a documentary about Scientology that was [TS]

well-regarded and and I thought I enjoyed it but I didn't think I enjoyed [TS]

it because I'm interested in the subject but I thought it was a sort of weird [TS]

documentary but now he's made one about Steve Jobs in this is the one of the [TS]

Apple executives objected to DQ was the one who tweeted about how was [TS]

mean-spirited or something like that yeah we knew yeah and I guess he saw it [TS]

at South by Southwest yeah I guess I hope we thought I hope he's not saying [TS]

it without having seen it and the preview looks great up the trailer in [TS]

the in the show notes here I am copying and pasting it right now so I don't [TS]

forget doing a good job just as a medic no I do think I've been doing a better [TS]

job of actually putting in a claim to put in Charlotte the trailer looks [TS]

interesting and it makes it look like it's you know a fair balance look at the [TS]

guy's life but the poster to me is a little worrisome did you see that have [TS]

you seen the post sir no I'm not trying to link to know poster is sort of a [TS]

weird so this is Steve Jobs the man in the machine yes not to be confused with [TS]

the other popular movie ex machina [TS]

Steve Jobs build the robot man wearing where's the poster for this movie I [TS]

don't know gotta find the position the one that's just a space yeah it's like a [TS]

weird photoshop job that's not what you know its they've they've they've sort of [TS]

  yeah definitely [TS]

you can find the original image for that and it's like they've made him look [TS]

sinister I don't know how else to say it but they've sort of sinister [TS]

me the background black instead of you ladies initiate the shadows and then [TS]

standing in a room kinda gave Mike devil eyes you know I mean like they've [TS]

they've had different yeah well he had you know very dark very dark eyes so his [TS]

eyes wouldn't you know you wouldn't be able to see it looks at you know I mean [TS]

like if you have dark brown or black guys you don't see that are not the [TS]

cornea iris like that but it makes it look sort of like that what happened to [TS]

Anakin Skywalker when he went to the dark side so I'm a little worried I do [TS]

things like I am going to watch this movie but I did not watch have you ever [TS]

watch the Ashton Kutcher one I have not seen any of them I did not see this one [TS]

because I didn't even see pirate cecilia is there really don't have a lot of [TS]

  times for these [TS]

I mean I would rather ineffectual account and I guess this is this will [TS]

probably be more factual but you're not going to go see this I don't have plans [TS]

to go see it reverts to one point I don't know it seems like the thing that [TS]

I would go see so that's why I don't like it but it seems like they're [TS]

beating and more power to them because I don't feel like this is a dirty trick [TS]

but you know the Aaron Sorkin movie is coming out in October this documentary [TS]

is coming out in September so in a way to sort of don't clearly the documentary [TS]

is gonna have less you know it's as an independent production it's not going to [TS]

have the you know the marketing behind it that Aaron Sorkin you know [TS]

blockbusters stars studded fictional fictionalized fictionalized when you [TS]

called someone yeah based on a true story book you know thing is gonna have [TS]

to come out beforehand and you can kind of piggyback you know on the publicity [TS]

yeah but I'm not quite sure how how is screened at South by Southwest in March [TS]

and isn't coming out until September I don't know if they have the sort of a [TS]

pre-release yeah I was out like a rough cut or that you don't know any cute [TS]

called it mean-spirited but I don't know maybe that doesn't mean that it you know [TS]

that I don't know why I like the guys previous films enough that I had to give [TS]

  it a shot [TS]

it seems like you could you could kind of portrayed him in any way you want to [TS]

show you can portray him in many different ways [TS]

well there's definitely there's definitely some things about Steve Jobs [TS]

that weren't great think anybody necessarily denies that but a new future [TS]

if you choose if you chose to just show those things though it wouldn't [TS]

necessarily be an accurate picture right so be curious and sounds as though you [TS]

  know [TS]

you know he's he's gotten some people who used to work for him to to you know [TS]

do interviews I'm interested to see how recently they worked for like a disaster [TS]

from the eighties and nineties or has anybody who's worked with them [TS]

years you know each changed over the years [TS]

yeah but nobody was ever laid back but I think most of his his worst screaming [TS]

was probably during the third story well no no I think you're right I think [TS]

you're right that most of it and the worst rain that but that there were [TS]

still some good stories from recent years you know of no yelling and [TS]

screaming think what else is going on we're going to ask that Specter Specter [TS]

we should talk about that but let me take a break in my last break and thank [TS]

our final sponsored and we'll talk about Spector that's a good one to finish up [TS]

it's our trailer that trailer have definitely seen its our good friends at [TS]

igloo igloo software these are the guys who make the intranet intranet that you [TS]

will actually like share news organize your files coordinate calendars manage [TS]

projects all in one place their latest upgrade Viking that's the name of the [TS]

upgrade to the platform revolves around documents and how you interact with them [TS]

how you share them as you gather feedback on them and how you make [TS]

changes they've even added the ability to track who has read [TS]

or downloaded documents to keep everybody on the same page it [TS]

effectively it's like read receipts for email but less annoying you only see [TS]

them when you when you're logged in [TS]

chasing down a bug with them but it just helps you track whether people on your [TS]

  team [TS]

people at work with who have to read something have actually read it very [TS]

simple idea now they've added it to the platform really great if your company [TS]

has a legacy intranet that looks like it was built in the nineties that's because [TS]

it probably was the nineties you should give it a try [TS]

they've got a fantastic deal up to 10 people can use a glue free of charge [TS]

indefinitely if you have if you've only got like you know seven people on your [TS]

team you just sign up for a glue and you just use it and you have to pay anything [TS]

we've got a bigger team if you've got a bigger company you can start a trial get [TS]

ten people to try it and see you know if it's as good as I'm telling you that is [TS]

if it's as good as it says that it is only when you agree that it is only when [TS]

you say wow this is great you know totally you know be the hub for our [TS]

communications then you can start paying and they've got fantastic rates for you [TS]

know numbers of employees above 10 so sign up for a free trial here's how you [TS]

go here you don't even need a discount because it's free for up to 10 people [TS]

but at least they'll know you came from the show if you use this URL igloo [TS]

software dot com slash d talk show equal software dot com slash the talk show my [TS]

thanks to include a great service and longtime supporters of the show so [TS]

spektr new trailer for spectrum came out last week I have I have mixed feelings [TS]

well yeah and it is are you mixed feelings simply because of what you [TS]

  wrote [TS]

yes okay yeah so I get the I didn't get your what you're alluding to their so [TS]

where did you where did you read sued Schilling where did it say chillin [TS]

connection between bond and his enemy that's on their website if you go to [TS]

double of and ok so I think I saw it on youtube or something ya know I [TS]

will put this in addition it I'm trying to remain is boiler free as I can for [TS]

this although not quite to the degree I'm doing for the Star Wars Star Wars [TS]

  movie I don't I don't even watch the second trailer that's where I'm going I [TS]

could make you say Star Wars and I'd go now I just got them with the spektr [TS]

trailer I did go there i read it and I'd whiskas our friend of the show day which [TS]

is vouched for me that this was not a cause he's got no self-control is [TS]

absolutely no sense whatsoever so if if they if they released a trailer called [TS]

the spoiler trailer here's the spoiler trailer it'll spoil everything [TS]

everything at the Davis case would watch it and then regretted instantly but then [TS]

he would he would watch he vouched for me that the trailer the second the new [TS]

trailer for Specter was not not spoilery and I agree with his conclusion having [TS]

seen it I don't feel like I know the plot of the movie really other than [TS]

other than what the title alone tells you which is that you know all right [TS]

specter's yeah right I was bothered by the simulation that there's like some [TS]

kind of boyhood connection between James Bond actor well this is a maybe I'm [TS]

wrong about that I don't do not see it does not say boyhood no no [TS]

right but I don't I got a bad feeling about it [TS]

indeed I agree that if you're if your position is correct then I so it's not [TS]

that the best the best email I got from a reader saying hey I don't think we [TS]

should I got to hit somebody wrote to me forget forget everybody writes me here's [TS]

here's what made me feel better about it this is my face my fear is that [TS]

Christoph Waltz is Blofeld now so far so good if they're not saying it they're [TS]

saying Christoph Waltz is in the film they're saying he's like the leader of [TS]

spektr if his name is Blofeld fantastic I but they haven't spoiled that I don't [TS]

know if it is or not everybody is thinking maybe that would be great my [TS]

worry is that they're gonna say take James Bond blow felder like long-lost [TS]

brothers or something like that yeah there's something like family [TS]

relationship or something like that and somebody who reads verifiable said you [TS]

know I was worried about that too but then I thought about it and realized [TS]

that there's no way even even if they had the idea to do that they'd realize [TS]

they couldn't because Austin Powers did that and they would realize they would [TS]

realize that they've stepped into the realm of parody ready and goofiness [TS]

because Austin Powers and already done there with doctor Yves [TS]

so they're worried the worrisome aspect would be if the people making making [TS]

spektr have anything right and like they're putting the finishing touches on [TS]

it right now they're doing that the color correction you know double double [TS]

checking with spelling and all the titles in the credits you know make sure [TS]

everybody's got their name spelled right in the credits entered into the editing [TS]

  room [TS]

this is the plot Austin Powers in here it seems to change before scenes in [TS]

November to record some of these lines [TS]

well the trend in the trailer it looks great doesn't it you know basically [TS]

everything you want to see you know and James Montrealer yeah I also I like the [TS]

idea that without any kind of single overarching plot that spanned all these [TS]

films that they're tying together some of the characters from the entire Daniel [TS]

Craig era you know with mister wait who's played by is named [TS]

real creepy looking guy just per Christensen he was the the bad guy [TS]

pulling strings in Casino Royale and then at the end of Casino Royale James [TS]

Bond shows up at his portion right and then it's you know the the best part of [TS]

quantum of Solace is that it opens like immediately afterwards and he's got he's [TS]

got them in the trunk of his car which is really cool it was kind of a cool cuz [TS]

they never really did that with the bond they never really came together in any [TS]

way they were all for the most part in a couple of references herein there in the [TS]

summer for instance has never happened the other guy right but my favorite [TS]

example of the opposite of that [TS]

and back in the day when dan and I were you know review and all these movies [TS]

they they used to recast a day just cast the same actor and totally different [TS]

roles yeah and so in and you only live twice which was the one word bond goes [TS]

to Japan sean connery film [TS]

testers with one after Thunderball and he meets like that mi6 agent told [TS]

British older British fellow who's you know has been their station guy and [TS]

Tokyo for a long time and then get is a very nice guy but he says to James [TS]

Bond's kind of a famous scene he's he's going to make him a drink and he's gonna [TS]

make you my camera teenies stirred not shaken right and of course that's [TS]

backwards but connery being a gentleman just says sure you know good you know [TS]

don't make a fuss don't make a scene and then you know the poor guy before I [TS]

think before he could even finish the drink he got stabbed [TS]

anyway it happens that same actor is the guy who plays Blofeld diamonds are [TS]

forever to movies later so 66 these early seventies the only way you would [TS]

see the movies became a TV you know yeah you see it again is it came on TV right [TS]

so why not right we like the guy we know the guy like makeup on and that in him [TS]

like a week or anything he looked exactly the same except that instead of [TS]

wearing a kimono he was wearing you know whatever you call those suits that [TS]

Blofeld Nehru jacket yeah exactly I even posted an easter egg [TS]

rate from Casino Royale ya gonna point which was the guy who tosses in the car [TS]

keys in the parking lot as part of the building department car and then he like [TS]

ran into somebody's car look like held no no no no spelled you go finger that's [TS]

right yeah and and then the license plate [TS]

things that because that's what color for a goldish I had no license plate to [TS]

me was stretching it cause it's why I feel like if they were gonna do it on [TS]

the license plate maybe it would have been more like the the atomic number for [TS]

  cold or something [TS]

no I mean it's in Syria that I think the hex color was really stretching it it's [TS]

not it's not really very goldfish but but his car was gold [TS]

it was a gold-colored like Lexus or something like that and he doesn't mean [TS]

it's like the exact same sweater I i to me it's like beyond cool incidents like [TS]

maybe they weren't actually saying hey this is goldfinger maybe they were just [TS]

kind of goofing around and it's not really yeah that's what it seems well [TS]

yeah just a funny thing to put in ya like we have to have a guy who's gonna [TS]

toss him the keys and we want him to you know he's going to he's going to be a [TS]

jerk and purposefully back in his car into it so we're gonna make the guy a [TS]

jerk who just sort of assumed that you know that he's you know the ballet and [TS]

then once you go down that path of making the guy making goldfinger it's [TS]

kind of a joke I saw another thing to up I will put it in the show knows somebody [TS]

I didn't treat this yet but somebody found out so we figured out there [TS]

there's a in one of the old in Fleming novels and it was her Majesty's Secret [TS]

Service which was widely regarded as one of the best books that he wrote and [TS]

that's the one that george hasn't Lazenby played the role and [TS]

is is polarized outside I it's my least favorite of the classic Bond movies some [TS]

people love it though but anyway in the novel James Bond has to escape from [TS]

somewhere and he doesn't have any weapons on him so he uses his role acts [TS]

as a quote unquote knuckle Buster so it's like brass knuckles so he takes his [TS]

Rolex off but around his fists and stainless steel Rolex do you know muscle [TS]

jobs and then even said it was again the novel was like like the next day he [TS]

liked woke up and the first thing he did was go to Lake jeweler to get a new [TS]

Rolex because it's it's only it's a somehow it's like described as a key [TS]

only whites that you can trust to like crack skulls with somebody figured out [TS]

by free streaming casino route at the very end of Casino Royale in the fight [TS]

scene in Venice while the building is sinking at some point when James by this [TS]

fighting those guys there's a scene where it looks like he turned his left [TS]

wrist upside down as though the way you would take off your watch and then cut [TS]

immediately but then if you look at all of the punches he throws in the next [TS]

scene as you can see the Daniel Craig has a watch around is very clear yet [TS]

very very very thing and so the speculation is that you know but there's [TS]

also and that's the one with the really really prominent product placement we're [TS]

on the train where he first meets Vesper Lynd and she's you know what you to know [TS]

I need he says I am good at poker as I can read people and he reads her and [TS]

then she tries to read him and she says you know but you have a Rolex and he [TS]

goes Omega you know which is super super it not only is he wearing an Amiga [TS]

wristwatch he says it and he says it is though it means that you know it's [TS]

better there relax its like the best product placement they could ever have [TS]

the speculation nobody knows it but the speculation is maybe the you know they [TS]

were going to use it that way and they're making people like you don't we [TS]

don't want to see the wife getting smashed [TS]

I think they're not so I think if the only two people shut that down there out [TS]

of their minds I think that that's it it would have liked even doubled what was [TS]

already the best watch product placement and bond history but it was a tremendous [TS]

amount to see those cars destroyed right exactly yeah I mean like Mercedes was a [TS]

big part of jurrasic world haven't seen any dinner CDs gmail things everywhere [TS]

in in even when there's one is one I thought was kind of egregious but I like [TS]

the movie but the kids are the kids run off on their own escape their sort of [TS]

person watching them and they were often thrown in there too they won't have a [TS]

good time and she's just like plugging in through the terms of the the part and [TS]

and so the older kids as they go see something I guess they go see the giant [TS]

dinosaur thing and then the older kids says to the younger kid go see something [TS]

else really cool and then they cut immediately to her Mercedes and then you [TS]

know and like somebody walks in and you know it's sort of thing but it's like [TS]

they clearly paid for that no way but yeah those things did shoot up and put [TS]

out by by dinosaurs yeah yeah so who knows maybe it wasn't maybe it was just [TS]

cut out just just for the sake of cutting out maybe it wasn't even at [TS]

their request who knows but it was a nice I swear to God I will put it in the [TS]

show notes but it was it's a nice homage to the original Ian Fleming's source [TS]

material yeah so and it came about [TS]

somehow the guy who wrote about it was on a movie blog and he got the tip from [TS]

a collector who bought the original prop that Daniel Craig war for those scenes [TS]

it was a replica of whatever Omega Seamaster he was wearing at the time but [TS]

with US steel band but with a revised the watch itself was like rubber and he [TS]

  bought that original problem [TS]

drove people it made him he was like I did you know somehow I guess he talked [TS]

to somebody with the props department but it didn't make any sense that they [TS]

would even have that prop and then he like went back and watched the movie [TS]

role closely in like freeze framed and figured out you know where it is used [TS]

how many movies as he and that's a good question I think I think he's in the 12 [TS]

now I think it's at least one more in that would bring him 25 right yeah yeah [TS]

  yeah [TS]

which you know and and would also bring him to you know you don't wanna run into [TS]

the Roger Moore problem where you even even with Hollywood makeup you look just [TS]

like two old yeah that he's not that old she's a great lady three when you feel [TS]

really old by the time you like this action scenes were just fruits these [TS]

guys struggling to move and then all of a sudden he's running I think that was [TS]

all I think he had to like run up the stairs of the Eiffel Tower it really was [TS]

  like this [TS]

the add this stunt was just Roger Moore running up a four way to me out [TS]

was no good for a week after that [TS]

to his credit he was on the record is that he he wanted to wrap it up [TS]

afterwards everyone he made in 1881 or something like that and yeah they yeah [TS]

and just made two more he made two more than anyone in any way that feels like a [TS]

show I don't have anything else on my list of time no talk about jon boat [TS]

right thank you for returning to the show where working people get more and [TS]

  more [TS]

well animals on Twitter or very nice web sites and your podcast with with Dan [TS]
