00:00:00   general we've checked everything out I'm [TS]

00:00:01   absolutely confident that nothing can go [TS]

00:00:03   wrong it's not brain science its rocket [TS]

00:00:06   surgery [TS]

00:00:06   this is Frankenstein Meets The space [TS]

00:00:09   monster [TS]

00:00:12   the incomparable number 379 October 2015 [TS]

00:00:18   certified 100-percent Frankenstein free [TS]

00:00:22   weight [TS]

00:00:23   hello everybody this is a Jason [TS]

00:00:26   stoneware back with incomparable rocket [TS]

00:00:27   surgery where we watch a bad movie from [TS]

00:00:29   a decade we've we've progressed to the [TS]

00:00:32   sixties now and although when you think [TS]

00:00:34   about every movies from a decade but [TS]

00:00:36   we've been picking different decades [TS]

00:00:37   that's how this works and joining me to [TS]

00:00:41   watch this movie were David lower hello [TS]

00:00:43   hello there and Fleischmann hi [TS]

00:00:46   what oh yes hello auntie Ashley hi there [TS]

00:00:50   hello and Steve Lyons hi jason i was [TS]

00:00:53   going to skip the recording session [TS]

00:00:55   tonight but then i was informed that [TS]

00:00:56   this podcast was code 24 code 2424 so [TS]

00:01:05   naturally i had to be here [TS]

00:01:06   I i agree with you it's simple just skip [TS]

00:01:09   out on a coat 24 five years if you don't [TS]

00:01:11   if you know what's good for you [TS]

00:01:12   co 24 is the rule on the internet that [TS]

00:01:14   there's some kind of podcast for every [TS]

00:01:16   subject code 24 i think is code for [TS]

00:01:18   bring at least five minutes of a [TS]

00:01:20   military no stock footage you know [TS]

00:01:23   income 24 is co 24 is is a theory that [TS]

00:01:26   suggests that on the Internet [TS]

00:01:28   everything has met the space monster and [TS]

00:01:30   that's good thank you for taking my bad [TS]

00:01:33   idea turning and also his boy Elroy the [TS]

00:01:37   film the film that we watched and I [TS]

00:01:39   don't know why other than that was a [TS]

00:01:40   great title is 1965 Frankenstein Meets [TS]

00:01:44   The space monster and I will point out [TS]

00:01:47   if your Wikipedia page has two words for [TS]

00:01:50   space monster please correct yourself [TS]

00:01:53   because in the in the credits it is very [TS]

00:01:56   clearly one word space monster space [TS]

00:01:59   monster are you already a purist a [TS]

00:02:01   Frankenstein Meets The space monster [TS]

00:02:03   hardcore fan and mr. space months then [TS]

00:02:06   also the name Frankenstein is a misnomer [TS]

00:02:08   but we'll get to that I think the doctor [TS]

00:02:11   was named Frankenstein Meets The space [TS]

00:02:13   Oh [TS]

00:02:14   man there is no space in space monster [TS]

00:02:18   120 and this movie is crammed full skirt [TS]

00:02:22   is a sponsor ate the space and let there [TS]

00:02:24   is yes it has money points out this [TS]

00:02:26   movie is like to third space [TS]

00:02:27   yeah yeah walking and driving and [TS]

00:02:30   walking over I got ok so I'm I unless [TS]

00:02:33   anybody has an opening statement about [TS]

00:02:35   Frankenstein Meets because I feel like [TS]

00:02:37   that the the decision to make this movie [TS]

00:02:40   went somewhere along the lines of this [TS]

00:02:41   gentleman i have a monster costume some [TS]

00:02:47   bald caps and a whole crapload of stock [TS]

00:02:50   footage [TS]

00:02:51   yes do you think that is enough reason [TS]

00:02:53   to to make a film where we film a bunch [TS]

00:02:56   of youngish girls running around in [TS]

00:02:57   bikinis you're here [TS]

00:02:59   well I don't but if you have an [TS]

00:03:00   above-ground pool that can be fitted out [TS]

00:03:04   with some cardboard to make it look like [TS]

00:03:06   a spaceship then we've got a deal [TS]

00:03:08   I'm sorry if there's no moped involved [TS]

00:03:10   this film cannot be made if you cannot [TS]

00:03:12   borrow a best stuff from a cousin of [TS]

00:03:14   somebody who works in the production no [TS]

00:03:16   deal with the sooner we're in business [TS]

00:03:19   could we film in Puerto Rico though I've [TS]

00:03:21   always wanted to go to Africa go to [TS]

00:03:22   Puerto Rico actually was delayed to see [TS]

00:03:24   them go to Puerto Rico because [TS]

00:03:25   traditionally cheap exploitation movies [TS]

00:03:28   are shot in the Philippines ah and this [TS]

00:03:31   was a nice change from all the other [TS]

00:03:32   ones I've seen mostly starring said hey [TS]

00:03:34   before we get there we have to begin in [TS]

00:03:35   space [TS]

00:03:36   sort of so basically Dracula and [TS]

00:03:40   Cleopatra station a spaceship which [TS]

00:03:43   looks either like a glowing ping-pong [TS]

00:03:45   ball or an out-of-focus Golden Snitch [TS]

00:03:47   depending on my mood chance you're [TS]

00:03:50   skipping at least 10 minutes of that [TS]

00:03:52   radar dish radar dish so there there [TS]

00:03:55   there is as we as we already said [TS]

00:03:57   throughout this movie and will point to [TS]

00:03:59   give me a massive amount of stock [TS]

00:04:01   footage like eight not kidding off but [TS]

00:04:04   they didn't just take like shots of [TS]

00:04:06   rockets lifting off from from Kennedy [TS]

00:04:08   Space Center they they have they have [TS]

00:04:11   some jet footage that obviously came [TS]

00:04:13   from some sort of military military [TS]

00:04:14   stock footage they got a shot of the [TS]

00:04:16   bunch of shots of kennedy space center [TS]

00:04:18   itself which i assume is from like an [TS]

00:04:20   industrial film of like a trip to cap [TS]

00:04:23   space center [TS]

00:04:24   I mean that noted look fake to me so I [TS]

00:04:26   went and looked up a reference image and [TS]

00:04:27   it was [TS]

00:04:28   accurate as always i think i've been [TS]

00:04:29   through that gate it's that gotta get [TS]

00:04:31   cavities face so ya know it's there [TS]

00:04:33   really don't type in small letters on [TS]

00:04:35   above the building that looks ridiculous [TS]

00:04:37   like someone hand-lettered it and that's [TS]

00:04:39   real yeah but it looks like it's falling [TS]

00:04:41   really need throughout this film [TS]

00:04:42   anything you can think of that could be [TS]

00:04:46   used with stock footage is and including [TS]

00:04:49   the spaceships your own rockets which [TS]

00:04:50   are very tightly cropped shot of an [TS]

00:04:52   American rocket but what's more [TS]

00:04:54   impressive is that they give them a lot [TS]

00:04:55   of room to breathe but i really like the [TS]

00:04:58   stock footage like it was great the [TS]

00:05:00   footage of the NASA transfer van you [TS]

00:05:03   never see stuff like that really enjoyed [TS]

00:05:05   the opening shot i thought it was [TS]

00:05:07   actually great montage actually kind of [TS]

00:05:08   beautiful [TS]

00:05:09   it started as like well jason said this [TS]

00:05:10   is what is all great bad films you want [TS]

00:05:12   to talk about a long time like this will [TS]

00:05:14   be fun whatever then I'm like oh this is [TS]

00:05:16   actually like kinda party and like not a [TS]

00:05:18   bad way to the moon it was interesting [TS]

00:05:20   the first reaction was actually kind of [TS]

00:05:22   beautiful was afraid I was not expecting [TS]

00:05:23   to hear on this podcast I i actually [TS]

00:05:26   have the complete the complete [TS]

00:05:28   statistics on the on the stock footage [TS]

00:05:31   usage in this film which we can get to [TS]

00:05:33   towards the end of this podcast is I [TS]

00:05:35   want to spoil anything for our listeners [TS]

00:05:36   but suffice it to say that this movie [TS]

00:05:39   runs one hour 16 minutes and eight [TS]

00:05:41   seconds and roughly 15 minutes and 47 of [TS]

00:05:45   that is stock footage so that's about a [TS]

00:05:47   quarter of the film that's listen if you [TS]

00:05:49   can call it that well some of it was [TS]

00:05:51   shot for the movie like all thats best [TS]

00:05:54   footage and I think the driving footage [TS]

00:05:56   was also that's true ok maybe I should [TS]

00:05:58   have more charitably can say that 15 [TS]

00:06:00   minutes and 47 seconds is just people [TS]

00:06:03   going from one place to another using [TS]

00:06:05   some form of transportation / wholly [TS]

00:06:07   inappropriate music she knew how to ride [TS]

00:06:10   it [TS]

00:06:10   okay i have really got the sale yet [TS]

00:06:13   we'll get there and I have a strong [TS]

00:06:15   opinion about lately I have to we got to [TS]

00:06:17   dr. nader yet [TS]

00:06:18   yes Jon Lovitz appearing effeminate [TS]

00:06:20   Nosferatu icici i'm going to disagree [TS]

00:06:22   with the characterization of as Jon [TS]

00:06:24   Lovitz is much more like dr. evil but he [TS]

00:06:26   is he definitely looks like a Dracula [TS]

00:06:28   and there's the Princess of Mars because [TS]

00:06:30   we've discovered that the from Mars will [TS]

00:06:32   they only refer to it as their planet [TS]

00:06:34   and she did Princess of Mars is dressed [TS]

00:06:36   up sort of like Cleopatra and they are [TS]

00:06:40   in their spaceship and he is dr. [TS]

00:06:41   dr.nader and what a great name for a [TS]

00:06:44   character in this movie I think that [TS]

00:06:45   Destiny's yeah [TS]

00:06:47   dr. ass man yes so million well yes this [TS]

00:06:51   unit you're the one who found when we [TS]

00:06:52   should trivia we found on the internet [TS]

00:06:54   go ahead sore because I know that it's [TS]

00:06:57   impossible for we listen to this podcast [TS]

00:06:58   to look up things on the internet it's a [TS]

00:07:00   plan for us it should i landed let us [TS]

00:07:02   know I have this the whole come and [TS]

00:07:04   watch the guy had looked up the cast was [TS]

00:07:06   like these must all be you know C&D [TS]

00:07:08   movie actors and never do anything again [TS]

00:07:10   which wasn't true [TS]

00:07:11   I'm sure why do I know this guy why [TS]

00:07:13   don't know the sky yes he's a famous [TS]

00:07:14   seinfeld single episode like 10 second [TS]

00:07:17   appearance but memorable face it also [TS]

00:07:20   features jeans Karim is Caitlyn's to be [TS]

00:07:23   mr. pathmark the the face of pathmark [TS]

00:07:26   grocery stores for 20 years own new york [TS]

00:07:28   new jersey that to me James Karen will [TS]

00:07:30   always be the boss on poltergeist to the [TS]

00:07:33   definer of Indian burial grounds that [TS]

00:07:36   great transformation is the house sort [TS]

00:07:38   of folds in on itself and his face will [TS]

00:07:40   forever be burned into my memory from [TS]

00:07:42   that I want to quibble with the [TS]

00:07:44   description of dr. eight years at [TS]

00:07:45   Dracula he's clearly a Nosferatu okay [TS]

00:07:48   sure sure [TS]

00:07:49   alright i still I'm still leader John [TS]

00:07:51   love isn't a nose for auto what kind of [TS]

00:07:53   Dracula well yeah he's a kind of fraud [TS]

00:07:56   to is a ripoff Dracula that doesn't want [TS]

00:07:58   to pay from Stoker any model right but [TS]

00:08:00   it's it's the ears in the here yeah and [TS]

00:08:02   she looks like Cleopatra yeah [TS]

00:08:04   yes no more old TV serial or a movie [TS]

00:08:07   serial princess like the setup was she [TS]

00:08:09   talked and she talks like like the [TS]

00:08:12   princess of the undersea city or an [TS]

00:08:14   underground city in that a movie that we [TS]

00:08:16   remove random Empire yeah I i saw that [TS]

00:08:18   connection to i'm still going Jon Lovitz [TS]

00:08:20   for nadir though i'm alright it's really [TS]

00:08:22   blows the the blows the rocket out of [TS]

00:08:25   the sky there's this little this little [TS]

00:08:26   smirk on his face that it's just it's [TS]

00:08:29   just all a hundred percent Jon Lovitz [TS]

00:08:30   and it's also fantastic sort of devil [TS]

00:08:32   Jon Lovitz that Jon Lovitz yeah she's [TS]

00:08:35   exactly [TS]

00:08:36   ok he's way better than anyone else in [TS]

00:08:37   the movies right yeah especially well [TS]

00:08:39   beyond wonderful fish is very [TS]

00:08:41   entertaining so they're they're they're [TS]

00:08:43   coming from Mars to the earth there [TS]

00:08:45   hovering over the earth of the [TS]

00:08:46   indeterminate location that apparently [TS]

00:08:48   is very close so they can land very [TS]

00:08:50   quickly [TS]

00:08:50   well they've been attracted by the [TS]

00:08:51   gigantic radar dish that we saw in the [TS]

00:08:53   first 10 yesterday they have received [TS]

00:08:55   they have received radio signals and [TS]

00:08:58   then a missile is set up by somebody and [TS]

00:09:00   they blow it up my they have launched a [TS]

00:09:03   missile attack it may be aimed at US [TS]

00:09:05   isn't a mission to another planet [TS]

00:09:07   another missile attack [TS]

00:09:08   well that's what happens we don't want [TS]

00:09:10   this one oh I think that's the same [TS]

00:09:12   message I think we just cut back earlier [TS]

00:09:14   yes II always what this is regarding of [TS]

00:09:16   anything was right [TS]

00:09:18   this is one of those are alias six hours [TS]

00:09:21   earlier things like that but that's an [TS]

00:09:23   application blew up to things and and [TS]

00:09:25   really I think it was only there so we [TS]

00:09:27   could see that smart a second time [TS]

00:09:28   because it was so great [TS]

00:09:29   the other thing i love about the two of [TS]

00:09:32   them aside from all the transit scenes [TS]

00:09:34   is there a lot of scenes of a human [TS]

00:09:38   Cleopatra sharing looks and meaningful [TS]

00:09:40   looks and then we're looks and its it's [TS]

00:09:42   like long stretches of looking later [TS]

00:09:45   later I've got a note down there is a [TS]

00:09:47   wonderful scene later where where they [TS]

00:09:49   they finish their dialogue and she kind [TS]

00:09:52   of purses her lips yeah and then they [TS]

00:09:54   have to look at each other and it just [TS]

00:09:56   stays one again like everything in this [TS]

00:09:58   movie every shot this movie goes on many [TS]

00:10:00   dates do but that's that moment I [TS]

00:10:04   thought was kind of hilarious that [TS]

00:10:06   they're both like rah ah looking at each [TS]

00:10:08   other and variable have notes later in [TS]

00:10:12   the movie to say who is dr. nader [TS]

00:10:13   talking to and then who is he looking at [TS]

00:10:16   is using audio why is he looking at the [TS]

00:10:18   screen it's the yellow anyway so there [TS]

00:10:21   they blow up the the space probe or [TS]

00:10:23   today and cut to surf guitar is rocket [TS]

00:10:27   we're in NASA on Florida's swing space [TS]

00:10:29   coast as a car with it looks like four [TS]

00:10:34   people sitting across the back so [TS]

00:10:36   obvious is elastomeric for military [TS]

00:10:37   brass to right around cram for to [TS]

00:10:40   vaccine Florida forget the camera in the [TS]

00:10:42   front seat and with blinds covering the [TS]

00:10:44   back window so you can see where they [TS]

00:10:46   are for the turtle shot just like in [TS]

00:10:48   venetian blinds inside the car [TS]

00:10:50   yeah why not you've never been to [TS]

00:10:53   Florida here's the line i like the [TS]

00:10:56   general says how you doing miss grant my [TS]

00:10:57   responses [TS]

00:10:58   well besides being crammed behind two [TS]

00:11:00   large been in a motel room on wheels but [TS]

00:11:03   she has no response to that she just [TS]

00:11:04   stares like I'm not doing so good it [TS]

00:11:07   makes a strange expression we only hear [TS]

00:11:08   the surf guitar in the external shot [TS]

00:11:11   which are cut intercut with the internal [TS]

00:11:13   that was one of the great things then [TS]

00:11:15   they had a little moment and then it's [TS]

00:11:16   like more than ordinary and then come [TS]

00:11:19   back and they'll be like a line of [TS]

00:11:20   dialogue that is punctuated by cut [TS]

00:11:22   outside there's more guitar but this is [TS]

00:11:25   a case where the location footage is [TS]

00:11:26   completely extraneous yeah I enjoyed it [TS]

00:11:29   yes are you watching a movie you know [TS]

00:11:31   where there's a lot of shots of nineteen [TS]

00:11:32   seventies Times Square going like our [TS]

00:11:34   kids through cocoa beach and stuff like [TS]

00:11:36   that they're rolling up the road to get [TS]

00:11:38   2 to Kennedy Space Center and I i I've [TS]

00:11:41   gone up that road I'm like yep that's [TS]

00:11:43   right the one that made me laugh out [TS]

00:11:44   loud with that line of dialogue that was [TS]

00:11:46   how much longer [TS]

00:11:47   five minutes baba in a real-time and [TS]

00:11:50   look how much longer before we reach a [TS]

00:11:52   Space Center sergeant about five minutes [TS]

00:11:55   [Music] [TS]

00:11:58   the best bet is you think it's gonna be [TS]

00:12:01   over when they get to the gate of the [TS]

00:12:02   Space Center and they sort of slow down [TS]

00:12:04   a little bit then the cards comes on the [TS]

00:12:05   role and we got at least another 30 [TS]

00:12:07   seconds or buildings to see at the Space [TS]

00:12:09   Center that but finally they get the [TS]

00:12:11   Space Center and met the guy who's [TS]

00:12:13   playing the surf guitar has to take a [TS]

00:12:15   break so we got time for a hastily [TS]

00:12:18   called a press conference so realistic [TS]

00:12:20   that but they are announcing that [TS]

00:12:23   they're sending a man to Mars and no [TS]

00:12:25   mass conference with for reporters [TS]

00:12:27   that's the entire coverage for the man [TS]

00:12:29   to Mars the worst reporters in the world [TS]

00:12:31   by they are sitting in the uncompleted [TS]

00:12:33   heaters in the back of the room [TS]

00:12:34   it's basically like those seams in the [TS]

00:12:35   Martian it's essentially like that [TS]

00:12:37   except totally not guys and we meet [TS]

00:12:40   Colonel Frank Saunders who is our new [TS]

00:12:42   our new Mars commander he's been picked [TS]

00:12:45   by NASA computer and they say as a [TS]

00:12:48   finalist as it as the finest a person [TS]

00:12:52   for us to send tomorrow [TS]

00:12:54   oh and good journalism i love the jury [TS]

00:12:56   was gonna wait a minute I'm diversity [TS]

00:12:58   report i've been covering this for a [TS]

00:12:59   long time why would you say it's like [TS]

00:13:01   that was you know i'm shy i guess i'm [TS]

00:13:04   shy type and then he and then they [TS]

00:13:05   freeze frame of the camera and I think [TS]

00:13:07   there's been a horrible error in the [TS]

00:13:09   film but actually beautiful zooms in on [TS]

00:13:11   him but it turns out that he he has [TS]

00:13:14   stopped moving and they can we clear the [TS]

00:13:16   room and then we get a really great NASA [TS]

00:13:18   PR handling moment when the the [TS]

00:13:21   marketing guy basically says he drinks [TS]

00:13:23   on me at the officers lounge and all the [TS]

00:13:25   journalists like well okay that sounds [TS]

00:13:27   journalists don't mind the guy going [TS]

00:13:28   completely catatonic to get back to the [TS]

00:13:32   journalists in the journal all doubt [TS]

00:13:33   looking down taking notes they don't [TS]

00:13:35   notice [TS]

00:13:35   yea though i don't know i just other [TS]

00:13:39   that was super beautifully creepy like [TS]

00:13:41   it was actually great creepy moment [TS]

00:13:43   however his smile is definitely very [TS]

00:13:45   creepy it does it [TS]

00:13:46   is frozen zoomed-in but it turns out [TS]

00:13:49   that they just take off like his hair [TS]

00:13:51   and he has like computer parts in the [TS]

00:13:53   brain so the answer is robot then [TS]

00:13:55   Frankenstein a parent was more of a [TS]

00:13:57   cyborg I think that was really what is [TS]

00:14:00   gonna sleep or but I said he's an extra [TS]

00:14:02   row but they clearly say the things that [TS]

00:14:05   we roll with rubies right so he's a [TS]

00:14:07   realtor not-so-pleasant yeah the jury's [TS]

00:14:09   out on whether he's a robot but [TS]

00:14:10   definitely a robot a robot [TS]

00:14:12   yeah well yes but they they get him back [TS]

00:14:14   be pulling back into the like doctors [TS]

00:14:16   room and they say something about like [TS]

00:14:19   they have problems with the humidity is [TS]

00:14:20   like okay you've gotta wrote you gotta [TS]

00:14:22   robots in florida and you decide where [TS]

00:14:26   he saved to show to the press [TS]

00:14:28   yeah but he's got a problem with [TS]

00:14:30   humidity he can't make it through a [TS]

00:14:31   five-minute press conference but he'll [TS]

00:14:33   be fine in our community in space it's [TS]

00:14:36   it's a dry heat up there [TS]

00:14:38   let's take a brief break from the space [TS]

00:14:40   monster and tell you about the sponsor [TS]

00:14:43   our sponsor this week is 23andme our [TS]

00:14:48   first sponsor i believe and they're back [TS]

00:14:52   you know your DNA is made up of 23 pairs [TS]

00:14:54   of chromosomes that is why the name of [TS]

00:14:57   the product is 23andme it's a [TS]

00:14:59   personalized genetic service that helps [TS]

00:15:02   you understand what your DNA says about [TS]

00:15:04   you [TS]

00:15:05   23 me is the first and only genetic [TS]

00:15:07   services available directly to you that [TS]

00:15:09   includes reports that meet FDA standards [TS]

00:15:12   with 23andme get more than 60 [TS]

00:15:14   personalized detailed reports on your [TS]

00:15:17   health your traits and your ancestry I [TS]

00:15:20   got to find out [TS]

00:15:21   yes indeed Jason you are as Northern [TS]

00:15:24   European and British Isles as a person [TS]

00:15:28   could possibly be you got a little bit [TS]

00:15:30   in the end of fall in there from when [TS]

00:15:32   your ancestors were hanging out in [TS]

00:15:33   southern Europe during the Ice Age but [TS]

00:15:35   after that pretty much they were [TS]

00:15:37   frolicking on the British Isles and [TS]

00:15:39   maybe in Germany a little bit too and [TS]

00:15:42   that's it which i sort of suspected [TS]

00:15:43   because i'm a very pale white person but [TS]

00:15:46   uh it was confirmed genetically through [TS]

00:15:48   23 me and it was actually pretty cool to [TS]

00:15:50   see that and I got to connect with some [TS]

00:15:53   third and fourth cousins who are matched [TS]

00:15:55   genetically and then we look at our [TS]

00:15:56   family history and family names and were [TS]

00:15:58   able to [TS]

00:15:59   cover how we were related so I love the [TS]

00:16:02   I love the genetic bruh a family [TS]

00:16:05   relationship tool stuff but there are [TS]

00:16:07   also tools that let you compare your [TS]

00:16:09   genetic reports with your family and [TS]

00:16:10   even your friends want to find out if [TS]

00:16:12   you're a secret cousin of somebody you [TS]

00:16:14   could do it on 23andme here's how it [TS]

00:16:17   works you order your DNA kit from [TS]

00:16:18   23andme dot-com you provide a saliva [TS]

00:16:21   sample you spin a little tube email it [TS]

00:16:23   back to their CLI a certified lab and [TS]

00:16:26   you'll be notified when your reports are [TS]

00:16:28   ready online it's that simple they just [TS]

00:16:30   pop up on your on your profile at [TS]

00:16:31   23andme it's all private by default you [TS]

00:16:34   can choose what to share and what not to [TS]

00:16:36   share [TS]

00:16:36   they've kept all of the privacy concerns [TS]

00:16:39   in mind which I really appreciate more [TS]

00:16:41   than a million people around the world [TS]

00:16:42   have experienced their genetics through [TS]

00:16:44   23andme so order your kit today from [TS]

00:16:47   23andme dot com thanks 23andme for [TS]

00:16:51   sponsoring incomparable again now let's [TS]

00:16:53   return to the space monster [TS]

00:16:55   there's two things I like about the 1965 [TS]

00:16:58   conception of robots first of all I'm [TS]

00:17:00   not sure what the point of molding a [TS]

00:17:02   plastic brain around all the resistors [TS]

00:17:04   is since it's covered by a scalp anyway [TS]

00:17:06   but it is kind of a good look [TS]

00:17:07   yeah and and secondly i like that their [TS]

00:17:09   idea of robot repair basically consists [TS]

00:17:11   of prodding and his capacitors with a [TS]

00:17:13   nail file they like moving back and [TS]

00:17:15   forth a couple times short grounded out [TS]

00:17:17   a little bit he's all better [TS]

00:17:19   yeah that's what you doing the typing [TS]

00:17:20   pool this is the point where i'll say [TS]

00:17:22   I'll say again my notes are very clear [TS]

00:17:24   he's technically not Frankenstein he's [TS]

00:17:26   Frankenstein's astronaut okay just eat [TS]

00:17:29   these Frank's lenders now you're okay [TS]

00:17:31   with calling dr. Napier Dracula this [TS]

00:17:34   guy's way closer to Frankenstein was not [TS]

00:17:37   somebody else's brain later he's much [TS]

00:17:39   closer I guess technically he's he's [TS]

00:17:41   Adam steals astronaut i'm not a frank [TS]

00:17:44   it's not but you're right as rain would [TS]

00:17:46   I like her [TS]

00:17:47   freeze frankenstein-like don't really [TS]

00:17:48   get the point of putting Frankenstein in [TS]

00:17:50   your title if you're not going to have [TS]

00:17:51   Frankenstein you get none of the [TS]

00:17:52   benefits of having Frankenstein but all [TS]

00:17:54   the legal hassles what legal hassles man [TS]

00:17:58   its public Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley [TS]

00:18:00   is famously litigious pretty pretty much [TS]

00:18:03   your whole benefit is the people who [TS]

00:18:04   were too dumb to watch the trailer and [TS]

00:18:06   go wait that's not Frankenstein she [TS]

00:18:08   could be shot in that blankets they [TS]

00:18:09   could have called Colonel Frank Stein [TS]

00:18:11   for [TS]

00:18:12   yeah I'm saying that would have been [TS]

00:18:14   close i would have been really cares [TS]

00:18:16   anyway but but this this completely [TS]

00:18:18   human-like robot is able to be [TS]

00:18:21   controlled by um like white TV clicker [TS]

00:18:24   it turns out apparently while he's in [TS]

00:18:26   space as well get all complexity of [TS]

00:18:28   human behavior can be controlled by a [TS]

00:18:30   little white TV clicker it's an ansible [TS]

00:18:32   apple is working on that [TS]

00:18:33   no yeah it's a i like i like that and [TS]

00:18:38   that leads to a very funny line later in [TS]

00:18:39   the film that will that will guess yes I [TS]

00:18:41   then we enter a new montage of stock [TS]

00:18:44   footage about astronauts taking off with [TS]

00:18:46   launch video with a song with sort of [TS]

00:18:47   more doors like I guess a little more [TS]

00:18:50   psychedelic area needles mere numbers [TS]

00:18:52   that we're gonna be but actually it's [TS]

00:18:54   got service fighter pilots now you [TS]

00:18:56   skipped right past the NASA transfer van [TS]

00:18:59   which i think is the star of the movie [TS]

00:19:00   right there entertaining i agree i've [TS]

00:19:03   never seen that before they appear to [TS]

00:19:04   have taken stock footage that nobody [TS]

00:19:06   else use which is at least putting some [TS]

00:19:08   effort into I agree [TS]

00:19:09   well they want they they left no stone [TS]

00:19:11   unturned did I thought if they could use [TS]

00:19:13   in this movie but it's 1965 it's [TS]

00:19:15   entirely possible some random dude just [TS]

00:19:17   has NASA transfer van painted on the [TS]

00:19:19   side of his vehicle that's possible is [TS]

00:19:21   the ice cream man in Cocoa Beach Florida [TS]

00:19:23   just clean it's great is as you drive [TS]

00:19:25   along it plays the Star Trek theme it's [TS]

00:19:27   awesome [TS]

00:19:28   also I i'm amused that they call this [TS]

00:19:30   mission the Mayflower to which ok it's [TS]

00:19:36   just a robot going to Mars I don't know [TS]

00:19:38   why we call it Mayflower to the pilgrims [TS]

00:19:40   robots [TS]

00:19:40   it's when astronauts astronauts are [TS]

00:19:42   watching avidly the launch on a little [TS]

00:19:45   TV set which doesn't seem quite like [TS]

00:19:48   Mission Control to me it seems it seems [TS]

00:19:50   kinda low love this funny idea that they [TS]

00:19:52   might have snuck in and shot some [TS]

00:19:54   footage in around things somewhat stock [TS]

00:19:56   footage somewhat is they got a stolen [TS]

00:19:58   Nazi and so I don't know some parts of [TS]

00:20:01   them like I'm not sure how they really [TS]

00:20:03   got upset i think NASA cooperated with [TS]

00:20:06   them for somehow I think they had a [TS]

00:20:08   visitor's pass because the car they show [TS]

00:20:10   driving around Florida seems to be part [TS]

00:20:13   of the production and I see that you're [TS]

00:20:15   going through the gate to get into NASA [TS]

00:20:17   itself so we're going into kennedy space [TS]

00:20:20   center and [TS]

00:20:20   exactly difficulty well well maybe they [TS]

00:20:23   thought this would NASA thought this [TS]

00:20:24   would enhance the space program it would [TS]

00:20:25   be a big boost in the public relations [TS]

00:20:27   department [TS]

00:20:28   yeah you got Frankenstein you say well [TS]

00:20:30   it could be someone related to space [TS]

00:20:33   commander you're not so sure on the [TS]

00:20:35   space monster where we're not entirely [TS]

00:20:36   sold on fridays like beats the space [TS]

00:20:38   blanket shine isn't the then it's okay i [TS]

00:20:40   trust that guy [TS]

00:20:41   they're not fighting they're just [TS]

00:20:42   meeting it's fun so the Martians are [TS]

00:20:45   watching dr meteors watching and they [TS]

00:20:47   decided to convince their attack on on [TS]

00:20:51   this this launch as the as the rocket [TS]

00:20:54   containing the robot goes up Frank the [TS]

00:20:57   robot one of my favorite lines of [TS]

00:20:59   dialogue from this movie said which is [TS]

00:21:01   we did it Adam we proved that science [TS]

00:21:03   and military could accomplish the [TS]

00:21:05   impossible [TS]

00:21:07   unfortunately there's a malfunction all [TS]

00:21:10   systems Frank request permission to [TS]

00:21:12   abort and I'm thinking well I mean all [TS]

00:21:15   systems are broken i think you pretty [TS]

00:21:17   much need to come back home with that [TS]

00:21:18   point all systems break because they've [TS]

00:21:20   been attacked right i mean it's not like [TS]

00:21:22   things ya blows up dr. Napier [TS]

00:21:24   straight-out freaks out he thinks [TS]

00:21:26   they're being attacked by a missile when [TS]

00:21:27   it's just innocent robot it's just a [TS]

00:21:29   missile attack [TS]

00:21:31   yeah so the thing there's a huge [TS]

00:21:32   explosion on the screen of the margins [TS]

00:21:33   but Frank is still radioing back to [TS]

00:21:35   earth which is dance then we get the [TS]

00:21:37   pulsating parachute scene where more [TS]

00:21:40   stock footage of NASA capsule deploying [TS]

00:21:42   parachutes now I was concerned I mean [TS]

00:21:45   they're the issue here is that the space [TS]

00:21:47   aliens believe that they might have been [TS]

00:21:49   seen right i mean that's why they have [TS]

00:21:51   to blow this thing up so yes the key to [TS]

00:21:54   keep a low profile i would think blowing [TS]

00:21:56   up the rocket would not be your first [TS]

00:21:58   move [TS]

00:21:58   so i'm not sure about their motivations [TS]

00:22:01   well there are 30 afraid that they've [TS]

00:22:02   been spotted and they're being attacked [TS]

00:22:04   and then they realize that while the [TS]

00:22:06   princess gets very angry right that that [TS]

00:22:07   that the this has been sold to her as a [TS]

00:22:10   missile but it was obviously a spaceship [TS]

00:22:11   and this could jeopardize everything she [TS]

00:22:14   says [TS]

00:22:15   fortunately her next her next command is [TS]

00:22:17   very clear find him and destroy sure [TS]

00:22:21   ok this is so they're going to land the [TS]

00:22:26   ship on earth and i have i just want to [TS]

00:22:28   point out when people like to make fun [TS]

00:22:29   of how Star Trek has people flinging [TS]

00:22:31   themselves around the ship to make it [TS]

00:22:32   seem like the ship is shaking [TS]

00:22:34   whenever they they say that it's really [TS]

00:22:36   bad i recommend that you bring them to [TS]

00:22:37   youtube where this familiar film is [TS]

00:22:39   available in its entirety and make them [TS]

00:22:41   see the scene where the ship is landing [TS]

00:22:44   where it's literally like the director [TS]

00:22:46   is saying to everybody just quiver your [TS]

00:22:49   arms and legs slightly vibrating always [TS]

00:22:51   but the scene where dr. nadir the [TS]

00:22:54   princess slowly sit up to show that the [TS]

00:22:57   gravity has returned to normal or [TS]

00:22:59   whatever while the people in the [TS]

00:23:01   background haven't moved at all and i [TS]

00:23:04   like that scene that's good stuff this [TS]

00:23:07   movie is all about realism em they [TS]

00:23:09   picked the clearly visible edge of the [TS]

00:23:12   bald caps on the guys to materially [TS]

00:23:14   screen space alien that's a no human [TS]

00:23:16   would wear his bald cap is that your [TS]

00:23:18   particular and racial three you don't [TS]

00:23:20   know what's on that they would cover [TS]

00:23:21   their shame it's like it's like dwarf [TS]

00:23:23   said about the Klingons like you don't [TS]

00:23:25   want to know we don't talk about us [TS]

00:23:27   because i like that they put the [TS]

00:23:28   Cleopatra hat on the princess because [TS]

00:23:30   they could never get a bald cap she [TS]

00:23:31   probably has a decent amount of hair [TS]

00:23:33   under there and there's no she wasn't [TS]

00:23:35   going to put on those ears every time so [TS]

00:23:37   now your princess [TS]

00:23:38   yeah totally they'll and it's it's easy [TS]

00:23:42   and they come out of their little [TS]

00:23:43   cardboard geodesic dome thing and [TS]

00:23:45   there's like a hunter there that they [TS]

00:23:47   laser to death because he immediately [TS]

00:23:49   shoot that well there there there it's [TS]

00:23:51   Florida and we're already a salient [TS]

00:23:53   that's what you do in Florida as they [TS]

00:23:55   ever stand your ground against earth you [TS]

00:23:57   know aliens standard earth ground laws [TS]

00:24:00   yep and your earth interterra really [TS]

00:24:02   stand your earth it's that simple so [TS]

00:24:05   that you know there's that there's a [TS]

00:24:06   frank is also crashed at this point of [TS]

00:24:08   course and they they shoot their lasers [TS]

00:24:11   at Frank to try and kill him too because [TS]

00:24:13   this is the whole reason they've landed [TS]

00:24:14   is to is to get get our friends and will [TS]

00:24:16   destroy and destroy him and he gets all [TS]

00:24:20   burned inside of his face gets melted so [TS]

00:24:22   he looks super Frankensteiner at this [TS]

00:24:24   point and the best part here is that as [TS]

00:24:26   soon as he blows up he turns his head to [TS]

00:24:28   the right and and freezes in that [TS]

00:24:30   position for about 15 to 20 seconds so [TS]

00:24:33   we can see the awesome makeup effects [TS]

00:24:35   yep yeah also by the way we're not in [TS]

00:24:37   Florida anymore they did it turns out [TS]

00:24:39   that landed in Puerto Rico and there's a [TS]

00:24:40   very nice palm tree by the way that's [TS]

00:24:41   right next to where the spaceship landed [TS]

00:24:44   it's a good landmark for people so [TS]

00:24:47   let's see the the they can implement [TS]

00:24:50   their plans if detected we've heard [TS]

00:24:52   again about the Martian plans there's a [TS]

00:24:54   really nice bit of redundant dialogue [TS]

00:24:56   where nadir says shall I initiate the [TS]

00:24:58   preliminary pre takeoff procedures and [TS]

00:25:01   she says proceed with the procedures [TS]

00:25:03   ok what's going to be careful [TS]

00:25:06   the preliminary pre preliminary [TS]

00:25:09   procedure procedures and here's what we [TS]

00:25:11   learned that sort of the leader of the [TS]

00:25:13   the other aliens aboard the ship is [TS]

00:25:15   smashing pumpkins billy corgan which is [TS]

00:25:18   uh yeah early appearance by him [TS]

00:25:20   yeah like my face another great line [TS]

00:25:22   he's unconscious but here's what he told [TS]

00:25:24   us he is busy this is where they the the [TS]

00:25:28   wear of the princess really is chewing [TS]

00:25:30   the scenery and then baby they have that [TS]

00:25:32   hilarious thing where they look they [TS]

00:25:34   give each other a look which is pretty [TS]

00:25:36   nice but in order to punish the the guy [TS]

00:25:38   who is allowed Frank to get away they [TS]

00:25:40   say bring him to mall who is as you do [TS]

00:25:44   when you're flying a spaceship on an [TS]

00:25:46   invasion of another planet [TS]

00:25:47   you keep a monster with you in a Cell [TS]

00:25:50   you never know when you're gonna need [TS]

00:25:51   him did they were explained why they [TS]

00:25:53   have a monster though because it the [TS]

00:25:56   movie title i think that's the answer I [TS]

00:25:58   I when we saw the first time I went oh I [TS]

00:26:01   wonder if that's the space monster [TS]

00:26:03   spoiler it is i will say that the it I [TS]

00:26:07   we didn't talk about this but the [TS]

00:26:09   opening credits where we see the [TS]

00:26:10   silhouette of the space monster in the [TS]

00:26:12   background are actually pretty good only [TS]

00:26:15   when you get your space monster costume [TS]

00:26:17   up that closely it actually looks pretty [TS]

00:26:19   solid [TS]

00:26:20   I credit design the font design it's [TS]

00:26:23   it's actually quite lovely and at the [TS]

00:26:24   end the end credits a nice the titles [TS]

00:26:26   were designed by everage shazam which is [TS]

00:26:30   my favorite credit ironing ever really [TS]

00:26:33   underground remember color [TS]

00:26:34   unfortunately he now has to go by effort [TS]

00:26:36   Captain Marvel there was a lawsuit [TS]

00:26:38   yeah alas the credits do not tell us [TS]

00:26:40   because he is uncredited that the man in [TS]

00:26:42   the monster suit is none other than [TS]

00:26:43   Bruce Hellion Glover father of Crispin [TS]

00:26:46   wow there's a little bit of trivia for [TS]

00:26:49   the night [TS]

00:26:50   rise so my mom with my logic problem [TS]

00:26:52   here is she sent this guy to death logic [TS]

00:26:55   problem here yes here the residuary this [TS]

00:26:59   time code [TS]

00:27:00   trying to figure out this whole thing [TS]

00:27:01   when she gives us the exposition about [TS]

00:27:02   you know the planet was put a corrupted [TS]

00:27:04   by the nuclear war and they repopulated [TS]

00:27:06   and like I think there's six guys right [TS]

00:27:09   now or seven and she kills one of them [TS]

00:27:12   because he's incompetent thinking this [TS]

00:27:14   does not help you what her issue is [TS]

00:27:16   there's only one lady and it's her [TS]

00:27:18   that's why they have to get more ladies [TS]

00:27:19   so she doesn't have dr. dear on her [TS]

00:27:21   we have won the war but we have no women [TS]

00:27:24   says a woman yeah thicker legs into the [TS]

00:27:27   purpose it could be like an aunt or [TS]

00:27:28   something yeah they need more they need [TS]

00:27:30   more women apparently and this is never [TS]

00:27:32   explain why humans and Martians can I [TS]

00:27:36   can mate and that they know there are [TS]

00:27:38   humans they just need to go get them [TS]

00:27:41   that's weird because they didn't know [TS]

00:27:42   there were humans at the beginning of [TS]

00:27:43   time be nice [TS]

00:27:44   ya know that tracking their tracking the [TS]

00:27:46   signal from the radar dish and so they [TS]

00:27:48   assume that intelligent life is on the [TS]

00:27:50   planet so they figure well it's probably [TS]

00:27:52   made able means intelligent i can meet [TS]

00:27:54   with it really was sixty seventy percent [TS]

00:27:57   likelihood that's basically the [TS]

00:27:58   definition of intelligence as far as I'm [TS]

00:28:00   concerned [TS]

00:28:00   sure he may double that's good so Frank [TS]

00:28:03   in a horror movie tradition Frank finds [TS]

00:28:06   two kids in a car [TS]

00:28:07   yeah but the boys got it all wait guys [TS]

00:28:10   kind of older than a kid though it's coo [TS]

00:28:12   i don't know it's indicating honest here [TS]

00:28:14   that's too just very old kid it's [TS]

00:28:16   typical driving along [TS]

00:28:17   yeah and uh and the the guy gets out and [TS]

00:28:21   i'm not quite sure what he does is he [TS]

00:28:22   like many different scents him with the [TS]

00:28:24   boat with like a bowling ball or [TS]

00:28:26   something just to do about your mom or [TS]

00:28:29   something i'm not really Frank strangles [TS]

00:28:31   that yeah and enrolled which of these [TS]

00:28:33   rules are doing the screaming is [TS]

00:28:34   effective because she just screams and [TS]

00:28:35   screams and screams and doesn't move and [TS]

00:28:37   just sit in the car and Frank is finally [TS]

00:28:39   like basically enough with the screaming [TS]

00:28:40   any leaves like I can't deal with this [TS]

00:28:42   i'm sorry it's weird that this astronaut [TS]

00:28:45   robot immediately goes on the killings [TS]

00:28:48   rub it was gonna be this a strobe it [TS]

00:28:51   immediately goes on a killing spree as [TS]

00:28:53   you were supposed to be rooting for him [TS]

00:28:54   instead of the space monster but the [TS]

00:28:55   space monster didn't hurt anybody [TS]

00:28:57   well he's redeemed later but he's right [TS]

00:28:59   now he's been the explosion has set in [TS]

00:29:00   office all is explained in the [TS]

00:29:02   exposition section of the movie it is [TS]

00:29:04   that you mention that he can experience [TS]

00:29:06   pain which seems like a weird thing to [TS]

00:29:08   design in [TS]

00:29:09   it really does no no pee is a good [TS]

00:29:11   corrective so you don't do things that [TS]

00:29:13   would endanger your body well they [TS]

00:29:14   didn't seem too bothered by it when they [TS]

00:29:15   were jabbing his resistors for the nail [TS]

00:29:17   file earlier it's just well that doesn't [TS]

00:29:20   hurt [TS]

00:29:20   this wasn't just his braids so our [TS]

00:29:23   friend dr. Steele at this point explains [TS]

00:29:25   to his sisters carefully actually wrote [TS]

00:29:27   down the names of the characters in this [TS]

00:29:29   thing Adam isn't Adam steel seal you [TS]

00:29:32   wrote down the name of every actor [TS]

00:29:34   it's a shame that Josie listen here [TS]

00:29:36   those are the people he explains to [TS]

00:29:38   Karen that that if he got wounded he [TS]

00:29:41   would be a blank and Astro but with no [TS]

00:29:43   knowledge we get that very clearly here [TS]

00:29:44   and and my note here is that Adam steel [TS]

00:29:47   seems about as convincing as well he's [TS]

00:29:49   reading all this dialogue is the [TS]

00:29:50   professor on gilligan's island where [TS]

00:29:52   there is a great line where she says [TS]

00:29:55   what you're saying is he could turn into [TS]

00:29:57   a Frankenstein done down to which adam [TS]

00:30:00   Steele says well technically I it would [TS]

00:30:02   be a Frankenstein's monster and then she [TS]

00:30:03   punches him and I wish that happened ep [TS]

00:30:06   it doesn't instead we cut back to Frank [TS]

00:30:08   who has founded a nice man whose [TS]

00:30:10   chopping things is opening a coconut [TS]

00:30:13   with a machete [TS]

00:30:14   yeah and he's shetty Torah bleep machete [TS]

00:30:16   to death by the Astro but says that [TS]

00:30:18   looks fun and he proceeded to open the [TS]

00:30:20   dude with a machete [TS]

00:30:21   uh-huh well like the coconut shies [TS]

00:30:23   exactly what Frankenstein would do so [TS]

00:30:25   yeah he's a Frankenstein or Dracula and [TS]

00:30:28   Frankenstein is what i'm saying is this [TS]

00:30:30   where he lurches under the to look into [TS]

00:30:31   the beach yes so we so the same Beach [TS]

00:30:33   seem so windy it's so windy I'm like [TS]

00:30:37   like visit Puerto Rico where the winds [TS]

00:30:39   will tear your skin off at the beach [TS]

00:30:40   it's funny I had a similar i also was [TS]

00:30:43   workshopping some marketing materials [TS]

00:30:45   for Puerto Rico tourism Glenn mine says [TS]

00:30:47   exciting puerto rico a girl in a bikini [TS]

00:30:49   sits uncomfortably in the water while [TS]

00:30:51   aboard man read the newspaper on the [TS]

00:30:53   beach and this is an older gentleman and [TS]

00:30:57   and this and never seen I have never [TS]

00:30:59   seen such as my line was I've never seen [TS]

00:31:02   a heterosexual man look with such [TS]

00:31:04   disinterest at a woman and everything [TS]

00:31:06   had a pretty a pretty blonde and looking [TS]

00:31:07   also they don't speak because these are [TS]

00:31:09   asteroids and they're not allowed to [TS]

00:31:10   speak dialogue pay them if the rhythms [TS]

00:31:13   it's been clear since one of the very [TS]

00:31:15   first seems that nothing nothing is [TS]

00:31:17   recorded on set like there's a guy right [TS]

00:31:19   in the union says I'm hanging up they [TS]

00:31:21   just walked in [TS]

00:31:22   yeah yes voices anywhere close to his [TS]

00:31:25   mouth but this lady in the water it's [TS]

00:31:28   like she posed where she thought it [TS]

00:31:30   would look nice when the water wave over [TS]

00:31:31   her and then to wait two hours for the [TS]

00:31:34   tide to come in [TS]

00:31:35   yeah he's nowhere near it no no and when [TS]

00:31:39   she screamed she screams with her her [TS]

00:31:41   face turned away from the camera so this [TS]

00:31:43   may be stock footage actually footage of [TS]

00:31:45   them to bikini everybody says you know [TS]

00:31:48   of like a guy in a goofy hat and a girl [TS]

00:31:50   in a bikini getting blown up by spaces i [TS]

00:31:52   live by space lasers yeah this check [TS]

00:31:54   your phone you probably got so yeah this [TS]

00:31:56   is this is this isn't Frank is that this [TS]

00:31:58   is the old ones are here is this frank [TS]

00:32:00   or the aliens the aliens [TS]

00:32:02   yeah they laid the laser the laser [TS]

00:32:03   guidance and they and they take the girl [TS]

00:32:05   right but um but he never he sees aliens [TS]

00:32:08   surround him and he never says a word [TS]

00:32:09   because he contractually was not allowed [TS]

00:32:12   to [TS]

00:32:13   it's because approach them in a very [TS]

00:32:15   menacing fashion no yeah like mother [TS]

00:32:18   actually was surely they could have even [TS]

00:32:20   less populated place in this order to [TS]

00:32:22   help repopulate the planet [TS]

00:32:23   yeah look like it's it's a super weird [TS]

00:32:26   seem especially since they don't speak [TS]

00:32:28   and its really uncomfortable and of all [TS]

00:32:30   that this may be one of the least [TS]

00:32:31   comfortable scenes ever featuring a [TS]

00:32:34   blonde in a bikini on beach it is not it [TS]

00:32:38   is distressing it is really really weird [TS]

00:32:40   that the site is coming to find anything [TS]

00:32:42   to use glass at the beach from a laser [TS]

00:32:45   of some sort and therefore it can't be [TS]

00:32:46   frank a space laser let's see if yes [TS]

00:32:49   displays the moon laser it has been [TS]

00:32:52   found these around Los Alamos at some [TS]

00:32:53   point apparently oh yes we actually saw [TS]

00:32:56   some last week its nuclear cool it's [TS]

00:32:58   it's called Trinitite at least from [TS]

00:33:00   their nuclear space lasers [TS]

00:33:02   oh yeah i forgot to point out that when [TS]

00:33:04   the princess is explaining in great [TS]

00:33:06   detail to the crew the plans that they [TS]

00:33:07   no doubt already know about we we get [TS]

00:33:10   our are cameo are required nineteen [TS]

00:33:13   sixties cameo from atomic war this [TS]

00:33:16   aliens have left their planet because [TS]

00:33:18   atomic war has devastated and these are [TS]

00:33:21   all these are all that's left [TS]

00:33:23   yep sad bald cap wearing individuals and [TS]

00:33:26   princes [TS]

00:33:26   meanwhile Franco's medicine women and we [TS]

00:33:29   get some nice dialogue where karen says [TS]

00:33:32   Frank has become so real so real to me [TS]

00:33:34   I'm worried too which doctors [TS]

00:33:36   he'll just simply replies nobody's gonna [TS]

00:33:38   ruin 10 years of my life's work [TS]

00:33:40   so is this where Frank hides behind a [TS]

00:33:42   wall because there's a woman with an [TS]

00:33:44   awesome i'm not sure you can really call [TS]

00:33:45   it menacing there's a limit sweeping he [TS]

00:33:48   stands on a wall and another woman [TS]

00:33:49   approaches and he runs away [TS]

00:33:50   welcome to the drinking of killing her [TS]

00:33:53   maybe he's just mounting the wall [TS]

00:33:55   he's probably curious about senior [TS]

00:33:57   running trainer with a broom actually to [TS]

00:33:59   be honest but then he sees a second [TS]

00:34:00   woman help I gotta get out of your other [TS]

00:34:02   side would continue women they could [TS]

00:34:04   take these it [TS]

00:34:04   this leads us to hear it is it would [TS]

00:34:08   let's talk we can talk about it we have [TS]

00:34:09   you ate Alaska music that plays a solid [TS]

00:34:12   style as as a friend at 10 is Karen and [TS]

00:34:17   an atom ride there right there scooter [TS]

00:34:21   yes and my note here is that it's [TS]

00:34:23   weirdly romantic this is the cut that [TS]

00:34:25   you know sheet she works for him and now [TS]

00:34:27   all of a sudden she's kind of hugging [TS]

00:34:28   him and and there's this you know [TS]

00:34:30   romantic kind of beetle ask music [TS]

00:34:33   playing which it seems inappropriate for [TS]

00:34:35   which you're searching the streets of [TS]

00:34:36   san juan for a murderous Frankenstein [TS]

00:34:37   you know and love just blooms naturally [TS]

00:34:39   on a Vespa you know [TS]

00:34:41   yeah your item once and suddenly I think [TS]

00:34:43   that looks like a fun place to write a [TS]

00:34:45   vest along with another place worth it [TS]

00:34:47   has nothing to do with the movie but i [TS]

00:34:48   enjoy the sequence because that's a cool [TS]

00:34:50   best but they look like they're actually [TS]

00:34:52   don't look like they're having fun at [TS]

00:34:53   first to have into hunting the songs a [TS]

00:34:56   nice [TS]

00:34:57   the thing that got me is this scene fits [TS]

00:34:59   perfectly in a scooby-doo and edit out [TS]

00:35:02   the first is that last scene is the one [TS]

00:35:05   where they're well we'll get to it all [TS]

00:35:06   pointed out later but yeah it's it's [TS]

00:35:08   just the sort of montage united states i [TS]

00:35:10   would say this song has more of an oven [TS]

00:35:11   Everly Brothers feel to it the people's [TS]

00:35:13   feelings [TS]

00:35:14   right okay yeah mommy's little chat with [TS]

00:35:16   covered a lot of ground i was thinking [TS]

00:35:17   you know the early early [TS]

00:35:19   yes you don't like meet the Beatles 0 [TS]

00:35:21   yeah well the movies from 1965 so it's [TS]

00:35:23   probably shot very close to meet people [TS]

00:35:26   assume i would like to criticize the [TS]

00:35:28   Vesper riding every please your honor [TS]

00:35:30   here this guy has never ridden a value [TS]

00:35:33   is a nobody should ever write a Vespa [TS]

00:35:35   know I have a best time I enjoy very [TS]

00:35:37   much but this guy i would like to [TS]

00:35:40   criticize Monty at this both get in line [TS]

00:35:42   with sarah recognizes zealots he's [TS]

00:35:44   writing very slowly at first and at [TS]

00:35:47   least twice doesn't absolutely does not [TS]

00:35:50   seem to know it has a kickstand at one [TS]

00:35:53   point he leads it the whole vespa [TS]

00:35:55   against the nearest vertical object he [TS]

00:35:59   gets better at the best but later but I [TS]

00:36:01   am pretty sure they handed him the best [TS]

00:36:03   but minutes before the season started [TS]

00:36:05   said ride this with her on it and he's [TS]

00:36:07   terrified he does look a little nervous [TS]

00:36:11   we're not going very fast right now we [TS]

00:36:13   have two minutes and 10 seconds of the [TS]

00:36:15   distant cousins to get through [TS]

00:36:16   yeah we can hear through san juan no [TS]

00:36:19   only send an extra days to write it on a [TS]

00:36:21   rough road through puddles and stopped [TS]

00:36:24   suddenly and he does not do weight of [TS]

00:36:26   that I just imagine that there you know [TS]

00:36:27   many years later they tell their kids [TS]

00:36:29   well we fell in love in san juan when [TS]

00:36:31   the military fluence there on the jet [TS]

00:36:32   because our Frankenstein crash-landed it [TS]

00:36:34   was killing people they did you look [TS]

00:36:36   very relaxed considering the writing off [TS]

00:36:37   to save their robot from certain [TS]

00:36:39   destruction [TS]

00:36:39   yeah I may have had some cuba libre days [TS]

00:36:41   before continuing the but that the the [TS]

00:36:45   mood is broken by lots of theremin music [TS]

00:36:48   and immediately places to home battle [TS]

00:36:55   borrow [TS]

00:36:56   well suddenly becomes like an extended [TS]

00:36:58   music video yeah reason like this [TS]

00:37:00   transition neatly into that it's it's [TS]

00:37:03   it's really weird their screams Frank is [TS]

00:37:05   there he he's got that neat cave later [TS]

00:37:09   he keeps walking kind of doing the mike [TS]

00:37:11   myers elevator thing walking down into [TS]

00:37:13   and what [TS]

00:37:13   yeah yeah buddy Adam warrants warns [TS]

00:37:18   Karen remember he's a he's a robot not a [TS]

00:37:20   man as cheesy apologizes for saying the [TS]

00:37:22   wrong thing at that point in me and then [TS]

00:37:24   he attaches alligator clips and starts [TS]

00:37:26   poking the second mile down this cave [TS]

00:37:28   and they're like poking around his brain [TS]

00:37:30   yeah and it certainly like he was [TS]

00:37:32   playing like your birds into him his [TS]

00:37:34   plane operated his song they say they do [TS]

00:37:38   manage to calm him down a bit though as [TS]

00:37:39   yesterday brought his brain [TS]

00:37:41   maybe your arms down energy says Karen [TS]

00:37:43   to go get general Bowers off by herself [TS]

00:37:45   they completely oddly awkward spot where [TS]

00:37:48   she leaves just serve skipper click [TS]

00:37:51   yep they barely know each other or [TS]

00:37:53   anything i don't know i guess i'll leave [TS]

00:37:55   then just kind of walk out display cave [TS]

00:37:58   and so she's off to get to this is [TS]

00:38:00   probably a man in robots and he's down [TS]

00:38:02   there taking care of Israel but [TS]

00:38:03   meanwhile back at the palm tree the the [TS]

00:38:07   Martians have sent out there there are [TS]

00:38:08   me to get more women and this is the [TS]

00:38:10   scene that I like to call a hard day's [TS]

00:38:12   night meets the space monster hell yeah [TS]

00:38:14   yeah yeah [TS]

00:38:15   then this is the one that that reminded [TS]

00:38:16   me again of scooby-doo because it's like [TS]

00:38:18   I expected them to get into a hallway [TS]

00:38:20   where they were running back and forth [TS]

00:38:21   between all sorts of different doors [TS]

00:38:24   rate it was that weird manic its anyway [TS]

00:38:27   it's a bunch bit but of course it's the [TS]

00:38:29   it's Frankenstein Meets The space [TS]

00:38:31   sponsor so they don't have they have [TS]

00:38:32   like a camera at the other end of the [TS]

00:38:33   pool right the way the shot is framed [TS]

00:38:35   there's a party shooting are on the [TS]

00:38:37   diving board [TS]

00:38:38   yeah across the diving board there are [TS]

00:38:39   there like four people in the pool and [TS]

00:38:41   then there are a lot of people packed in [TS]

00:38:43   a very small space between the back of [TS]

00:38:44   the house well to be honest Jason I'm [TS]

00:38:46   not certain their people but there are a [TS]

00:38:47   lot of butts on the other side yeah [TS]

00:38:49   we're just assuming there's people are [TS]

00:38:51   after those mostly all we can see is [TS]

00:38:52   this would be willing rights while while [TS]

00:38:55   some more beetle ask music plays my [TS]

00:38:57   notes and now closed up some butts and [TS]

00:39:00   then like 20 ! [TS]

00:39:03   the scientists reported seeing the [TS]

00:39:05   opening of the woman in the bikini-clad [TS]

00:39:06   strangely no reaction we access was [TS]

00:39:08   evaluating her definitely Corrigan [TS]

00:39:10   really are minors no no literally hurts [TS]

00:39:13   it gets cold by the clearance paper [TS]

00:39:16   industry bring her and she turns around [TS]

00:39:18   yeah she's completely unconcerned that [TS]

00:39:20   she's on this ship she isn't so because [TS]

00:39:22   she doesn't say anything but she's not a [TS]

00:39:24   lot this is not a ready when they could [TS]

00:39:26   have had her screen while she was facing [TS]

00:39:27   the other direction now did this movie [TS]

00:39:29   really have such rigorous contracts that [TS]

00:39:31   people had to get paid more if they [TS]

00:39:33   spoke well i think i don't know i think [TS]

00:39:36   that's like standard procedure right a [TS]

00:39:37   speaking part pays more you're an extra [TS]

00:39:39   but not certainly speed on what they [TS]

00:39:41   were in a film yeah that's why you get [TS]

00:39:43   paid extra if they're in a bikini but if [TS]

00:39:45   they're terrible and they say don't [TS]

00:39:47   speak or they were they were shot on [TS]

00:39:49   location in san juan and didn't speak [TS]

00:39:50   English that's all that's also possible [TS]

00:39:53   that's right because they don't they [TS]

00:39:54   don't speak regardless you're right it [TS]

00:39:55   is a super creepy see look I mean [TS]

00:39:57   they're at this is a movie from the [TS]

00:39:58   mid-sixties there it is it there is [TS]

00:40:01   plenty o sexism throughout it but I i [TS]

00:40:04   will say the plot of the Martians [TS]

00:40:06   basically assaulting women and dragging [TS]

00:40:08   them back to the spaceship kind of [TS]

00:40:10   uncomfortable but it's it's matched by V [TS]

00:40:12   scene where the princess basically tells [TS]

00:40:15   the blonde from the in a bikini too kind [TS]

00:40:18   of twirl around and then like lift her [TS]

00:40:20   arms up and then put them back their own [TS]

00:40:22   series and all the way should leave them [TS]

00:40:24   slightly just part of the way it was a [TS]

00:40:28   very small set let ya know when to shut [TS]

00:40:31   the cardboard cardboard on the ramp [TS]

00:40:33   I appreciate how small that set is [TS]

00:40:35   because it for once you can actually [TS]

00:40:36   imagine that this being the inside of [TS]

00:40:38   that exterior of the spit of the flying [TS]

00:40:41   saucer [TS]

00:40:42   yeah sure it is interesting that the [TS]

00:40:44   princess has say on which of the bikini [TS]

00:40:47   girls are our quality enough to stick [TS]

00:40:50   around [TS]

00:40:50   well i mean i think what was clears me [TS]

00:40:53   dear approves of all of them [TS]

00:40:55   well yeah so she's like no no I got [TS]

00:40:57   standard see we talk about ordering the [TS]

00:40:59   the epic purification seen as which is [TS]

00:41:02   coming coming up but first the pool [TS]

00:41:03   party and I don't know why they laser [TS]

00:41:06   that the guy on the diving boards death [TS]

00:41:08   because he should have but one time too [TS]

00:41:10   many standing on the diving board doing [TS]

00:41:12   his butt shake so he's lasered and [TS]

00:41:14   explodes and then all the spaceman come [TS]

00:41:16   in and and fairly easily just take all [TS]

00:41:18   the girls and walk away [TS]

00:41:20   it seems like the sentiment from all of [TS]

00:41:21   the guys at the party is so you guys in [TS]

00:41:23   space helmets are gonna take off with [TS]

00:41:25   all the women are well okay then [TS]

00:41:27   Jorge see ya well they're a long way [TS]

00:41:29   away that's like march the women this [TS]

00:41:31   great distance there's a handful of them [TS]

00:41:33   and they marched them in various states [TS]

00:41:35   of dress and maybe this movie was made [TS]

00:41:38   by the San Juan department of tourism [TS]

00:41:40   and they want you to get the message [TS]

00:41:41   women are just here for the takin let's [TS]

00:41:43   come visit our strangely leaf forest in [TS]

00:41:46   our fingers and our roads and our many [TS]

00:41:49   swing and mud parties [TS]

00:41:50   yes got my pick up a lady are clearly [TS]

00:41:52   cold windy computer been pitches [TS]

00:41:57   oh yeah okay electronic purification is [TS]

00:41:59   next they they what does they use this [TS]

00:42:03   to check the purity of the women that [TS]

00:42:05   they're that they're testing a lot of [TS]

00:42:07   there with we were checking the purity [TS]

00:42:09   or with a purifying them this is about [TS]

00:42:10   different things but they were purifying [TS]

00:42:12   I thought no they should i think the [TS]

00:42:14   princess are learning which ones are [TS]

00:42:16   pure enough to stick around so maybe she [TS]

00:42:19   didn't want me they go on the conveyor [TS]

00:42:21   in my headcanon it's both if you don't [TS]

00:42:23   everything I and you have a hit-and-run [TS]

00:42:25   raids meeting space what are absolutely [TS]

00:42:27   just what you have to just a patch up [TS]

00:42:29   the plot so basically if you're not pure [TS]

00:42:31   enough you are I guess choked off screen [TS]

00:42:34   and if you are hearing up if you are [TS]

00:42:36   pure enough they drape a fitted sheet [TS]

00:42:38   over you and you slide down somewhere on [TS]

00:42:41   its ok i love i love this scene i love [TS]

00:42:43   the seamer dr. day he looks at her and [TS]

00:42:45   she shakes her head no and he looks at [TS]

00:42:48   the soldiers and he shakes his head and [TS]

00:42:51   they accept bizarre cracking motion with [TS]

00:42:53   his hand like you can snap the neck [TS]

00:42:55   that's why i said yeah they're choking [TS]

00:42:56   them to death or what they not just give [TS]

00:42:58   her give her to the space monster [TS]

00:43:00   yeah I'm it's well it's possible but [TS]

00:43:02   it's there's not time for them to walk [TS]

00:43:04   them i don't know maybe it's not that [TS]

00:43:05   big ship I guess it's not that big of a [TS]

00:43:07   ship they could easily belonging to the [TS]

00:43:08   space monsters cage they seem to [TS]

00:43:10   suddenly have a hundred women and their [TS]

00:43:11   shipping off to some other part of the [TS]

00:43:13   ship it's very confusing so so karen is [TS]

00:43:15   also there and they discovered that she [TS]

00:43:17   has the remote control that we saw [TS]

00:43:18   before the controls Frank this is a very [TS]

00:43:21   advanced looking mechanism for this is [TS]

00:43:23   I do know Steve you got your gonna this [TS]

00:43:25   is this is the best part you got you [TS]

00:43:27   gotta put in the pause there because [TS]

00:43:28   that is the who killed me [TS]

00:43:29   this is a very advanced looking [TS]

00:43:32   mechanism for the society we haven't [TS]

00:43:35   analyzed it but it looks like it would [TS]

00:43:36   be advanced so he was putting a little [TS]

00:43:40   extra spin on the dialing up yet because [TS]

00:43:42   it's stupid diet because the man is a [TS]

00:43:44   professional that's what yep so I put [TS]

00:43:47   her in the cage next to next to mall [TS]

00:43:49   yes come on the space monster just a [TS]

00:43:52   mall or mole or I are small mole malas [TS]

00:43:56   and you're going to get mauled by the [TS]

00:43:57   space monster maybe i was thinking like [TS]

00:43:59   Carlos the moment our list them all just [TS]

00:44:02   like that we never see him run this [TS]

00:44:04   leads to a weird scene where they just [TS]

00:44:06   sort of sit there and smile while sound [TS]

00:44:08   effects play and it goes on for a long [TS]

00:44:11   time they love smiling and looking [TS]

00:44:14   yeah this and then of course the moment [TS]

00:44:17   is very angry the space monster and it [TS]

00:44:19   reaches out with her with well they [TS]

00:44:21   didn't put her clothes without with her [TS]

00:44:22   with her right so with his claws [TS]

00:44:25   apparently his clothes are quite soft [TS]

00:44:26   because it does no damage she's just [TS]

00:44:28   sort of softly pulling gently pulling [TS]

00:44:30   her maybe he's not so bad maybe she [TS]

00:44:33   eventually falls asleep she's [TS]

00:44:35   comfortable for lashes white this is [TS]

00:44:38   quite soothing thank you massage the [TS]

00:44:39   malls Claus it'sit's kong in fay wray [TS]

00:44:42   it's you know you like sir again though [TS]

00:44:45   i should say the space monster suit is [TS]

00:44:47   far better than it needs to be for this [TS]

00:44:49   film it is i wondered if it was from [TS]

00:44:52   something else because it is a pretty [TS]

00:44:54   good monster outfit I think he's kind of [TS]

00:44:57   creepy weird and creepy and spooky it's [TS]

00:44:59   uh it's from a very high-end bukit on [TS]

00:45:02   theater club I at the dinner theater [TS]

00:45:05   they have the sense not to show it too [TS]

00:45:07   much just yet we close up and they don't [TS]

00:45:09   get away right and then smartly when you [TS]

00:45:11   see him later it's obscured by smoke as [TS]

00:45:13   well so right yeah some some competence [TS]

00:45:16   in in the filming of this movie into the [TS]

00:45:18   indeed there's there's some of their [TS]

00:45:19   this [TS]

00:45:20   yeah there's something they had an idea [TS]

00:45:22   of what they were trying to do you know [TS]

00:45:23   I mentioned the dialogue recorded later [TS]

00:45:26   but people do a pretty good job of [TS]

00:45:27   matching it up with the lips mmm I've [TS]

00:45:30   seen way worse [TS]

00:45:32   that's a worse high praise for friends [TS]

00:45:35   each minute that was Vincent Canby is [TS]

00:45:39   pull quotes but this is where we get the [TS]

00:45:43   alert to the army that something is [TS]

00:45:46   going on in Puerto Rico there's a report [TS]

00:45:48   of unusual civilians to which somebody [TS]

00:45:50   says it's probably castro in that bunch [TS]

00:45:53   which is strange topical references but [TS]

00:45:57   this steve is where we get the the point [TS]

00:45:59   that but generally you don't understand [TS]

00:46:00   its code 24 general code 2400 yeah and [TS]

00:46:05   so he's sitting there reading the paper [TS]

00:46:07   you soon as this small happy look at [TS]

00:46:09   that hotel room the whole time I just I [TS]

00:46:11   mean I went into rifftrax mode where I'm [TS]

00:46:13   just going to no man that Andy Capp [TS]

00:46:16   beating his wife again what an adorable [TS]

00:46:17   and and then is as having the phone [TS]

00:46:20   calls like come on get it over with I [TS]

00:46:22   want to go back to my paper read the [TS]

00:46:23   funnies may doesn't make a serious until [TS]

00:46:24   you find out you know it's kind of those [TS]

00:46:26   code 20 but then once he understands [TS]

00:46:28   it's serious he sent out all the stock [TS]

00:46:30   footage the Army has dropped 20 for me a [TS]

00:46:33   fighter Hillary's Piper Cub that's [TS]

00:46:35   available with that he scrambled [TS]

00:46:36   immediately [TS]

00:46:37   Oh 24 means five or more minutes of [TS]

00:46:39   b-roll helicopters that are clearly in [TS]

00:46:41   Vietnam get them over here [TS]

00:46:43   yep the proper problem get this crappy [TS]

00:46:46   actually kept coming back to it yea even [TS]

00:46:48   after they've shown us the fighter jet [TS]

00:46:50   expect the best part of that prop plane [TS]

00:46:51   footage is is where we get a shot from [TS]

00:46:53   the prop plane and we hear nothing [TS]

00:46:55   interesting down there [TS]

00:46:57   yeah they're slaves down that looks like [TS]

00:47:01   some trees from going home [TS]

00:47:03   ah well it's you know the Army's mad now [TS]

00:47:05   they've sent an airplane so watch out [TS]

00:47:07   also I I have at this point I have to [TS]

00:47:09   ask why just care and have the remote if [TS]

00:47:11   then adam has to like grab hold Frank's [TS]

00:47:15   hand and lead them along to take him [TS]

00:47:17   somewhere I don't know why you would [TS]

00:47:18   leave a remote control with the the [TS]

00:47:20   robot I think about especially white is [TS]

00:47:22   care and have the remote period he seems [TS]

00:47:24   to work pretty well on his boat you know [TS]

00:47:26   it doesn't he keeps killing people [TS]

00:47:28   it's actually you know as its jostling [TS]

00:47:30   around in her purse it's bumping into [TS]

00:47:32   the differences but residents we're [TS]

00:47:33   making him go [TS]

00:47:34   killin printable kill button it's all [TS]

00:47:36   because of practice identity but here's [TS]

00:47:38   your problem the kill button in the back [TS]

00:47:40   of Frank was set to on the accident yeah [TS]

00:47:42   that I'm now starting to question [TS]

00:47:43   whether he's really a robot with one of [TS]

00:47:45   our remote-control can you be a robot [TS]

00:47:47   you really just did you know I was just [TS]

00:47:50   an emergency only an arson card that are [TS]

00:47:52   over now he's designed to work on his [TS]

00:47:54   own but in certain cases like when he's [TS]

00:47:57   not I piloting a rocket so when he's in [TS]

00:48:00   a press conference or on a beach then [TS]

00:48:04   you need to take over manual control of [TS]

00:48:06   them [TS]

00:48:07   that's what that's why we see that that [TS]

00:48:08   remote so frequently turning this film [TS]

00:48:11   oh dear it's gonna look for other earth [TS]

00:48:14   devices and Karen satchel what you come [TS]

00:48:17   up with and that was that was redacted [TS]

00:48:20   for the time they're earth device [TS]

00:48:22   advanced looking devices [TS]

00:48:24   yes d just makes a buzzing noise I don't [TS]

00:48:26   understand some people out still goes to [TS]

00:48:29   get general Bowers he picks up the [TS]

00:48:31   scooter which is right there and you [TS]

00:48:32   know what the surf guitar comes back [TS]

00:48:34   whenever you're ready to serve scooter [TS]

00:48:35   so that is a that is funny we also get [TS]

00:48:37   form of the percent accurate by the way [TS]

00:48:39   for ya for a movie that involves a [TS]

00:48:41   Puerto Rico there's very little spanish [TS]

00:48:42   but here we do get el telefone oh hello [TS]

00:48:45   hello telephone oh yeah I become officer [TS]

00:48:49   my favorite character in the movie [TS]

00:48:51   absolutely no audible vulnerable leave [TS]

00:48:55   LA tonight before we get to that guy can [TS]

00:48:57   I complain about the dude who didn't [TS]

00:48:59   know what telephone meant but didn't [TS]

00:49:00   know what telephoto meant yeah you're [TS]

00:49:03   not helping that you know I think he was [TS]

00:49:04   just lying days I think he was just [TS]

00:49:06   grieving the yeah the guy because he [TS]

00:49:08   wanted to sell the drink happens the [TS]

00:49:11   comm officer is great because basically [TS]

00:49:14   Adam steel calls him and says there's an [TS]

00:49:17   alien spaceship is like I don't think I [TS]

00:49:20   cannot do that i don't think i can tell [TS]

00:49:22   the general that he's just like you're [TS]

00:49:23   you're you're crazy person like no [TS]

00:49:25   listen here you tell him like alright [TS]

00:49:28   well give it a try and then he you know [TS]

00:49:30   he called that's right a spaceship [TS]

00:49:32   controls a plane and the plane calls the [TS]

00:49:35   general and federalism he is general up [TS]

00:49:38   in the problem did the prop plane is [TS]

00:49:40   root relaying the message to the general [TS]

00:49:43   down in his jeep right who declares turn [TS]

00:49:45   this Jeep around on this gene [TS]

00:49:47   bow around and more importantly scramble [TS]

00:49:49   all jets I feel like that the common [TS]

00:49:52   officer has to be one of the stops that [TS]

00:49:53   the filmmakers made to NASA to get them [TS]

00:49:55   to you know give them NASA footage like [TS]

00:49:58   okay sure we'll put one of your majors [TS]

00:49:59   in the in the film he seems strangely [TS]

00:50:01   capable and does not believe that there [TS]

00:50:03   is a spaceship is that would be stupid [TS]

00:50:07   he's not the best actor in the film and [TS]

00:50:09   you'll probably the best character I [TS]

00:50:11   kind of love ya I kind of love because [TS]

00:50:12   he's he's basically sitting in the [TS]

00:50:13   center of this film going [TS]

00:50:15   no this is no this is felt alright i [TS]

00:50:19   guess i'll say there's a spaceship but [TS]

00:50:21   really the indigenous alright fine our [TS]

00:50:24   answer right a spaceship that's right a [TS]

00:50:26   spaceship I don't think I can relay a [TS]

00:50:29   message like that but it's more there's [TS]

00:50:31   more surf guitar at this point is got [TS]

00:50:33   various guys run out to various cars in [TS]

00:50:37   order to hold ya scramble the Jets we [TS]

00:50:40   see cept for cars and the squad runs out [TS]

00:50:42   of the building and gets into the car [TS]

00:50:44   drives away to thinking surely they will [TS]

00:50:46   show us that forever [TS]

00:50:48   nope here comes the next round to get [TS]

00:50:49   into that car is trying to get a reprise [TS]

00:50:51   of that's the way it's got to be by the [TS]

00:50:53   poets at this point which actually works [TS]

00:50:55   pretty well from when they're running [TS]

00:50:56   out in their cars and just kind of [TS]

00:50:58   getting themselves into position [TS]

00:51:00   it's literally like from a documentary [TS]

00:51:02   about when the the fighter jet squadron [TS]

00:51:05   is scrambled big very big lie to their [TS]

00:51:07   cars and then go to their jets and we [TS]

00:51:09   see it all all the Congress are loaded [TS]

00:51:13   um Frank decides that he is going to see [TS]

00:51:17   he's surrounded by spaceman he tries to [TS]

00:51:20   use a stick to beat them to death but it [TS]

00:51:23   doesn't work there too many of them and [TS]

00:51:25   the robot gets knocked out somehow [TS]

00:51:27   yes he died not sure how that works [TS]

00:51:28   maybe his brain pan was jostles and yes [TS]

00:51:32   someone questions and somebody's to prod [TS]

00:51:34   one of those resistors immediately [TS]

00:51:35   well the princess might have pushed a [TS]

00:51:37   button on the thing later he takes he [TS]

00:51:39   takes a lot of damage on his head later [TS]

00:51:40   which I thought was pretty impressive [TS]

00:51:42   given that he's brain is like just right [TS]

00:51:44   under a wig with no hardshell of any [TS]

00:51:48   kind but here he does get kinda like [TS]

00:51:50   punked and he's 0 and many's a humidity [TS]

00:51:53   well the humidity doesn't help you know [TS]

00:51:55   because he's still that's it that's a [TS]

00:51:56   bit a bug in the beta test you know one [TS]

00:51:59   of those little silicon [TS]

00:52:00   l packets underneath that plastic brain [TS]

00:52:02   would have done one Minnesota don't you [TS]

00:52:03   couldn't have launched him from Houston [TS]

00:52:05   or something instead of Florida there [TS]

00:52:07   that worried about a humidity is pretty [TS]

00:52:10   human Houston to what you can launch [TS]

00:52:12   from Houston but you have to have the [TS]

00:52:13   press conference in Florida that's just [TS]

00:52:14   that's where the four guys are that yeah [TS]

00:52:16   that's because that's where the press [TS]

00:52:19   corps is an American space program in [TS]

00:52:21   the sixties was really not widely [TS]

00:52:22   followed after drinks at the officer's [TS]

00:52:25   club you don't want to press driving [TS]

00:52:26   back you know home a little sauced and [TS]

00:52:28   it's true there would be no coverage [TS]

00:52:30   from that point on any of the space [TS]

00:52:31   program [TS]

00:52:32   Karen uh has to wake up Frank here to be [TS]

00:52:35   shouting at him to get off he's been [TS]

00:52:37   held [TS]

00:52:38   he's been taken captive inside the [TS]

00:52:39   spaceship and she still chained up next [TS]

00:52:42   to the monster and she's trying to get [TS]

00:52:45   him awake while there while ace a [TS]

00:52:46   barrage of stock planes and and dead [TS]

00:52:50   how are happening outside along with the [TS]

00:52:52   firing of rockets because why not fire [TS]

00:52:55   rockets at the spaceship when you find a [TS]

00:52:57   spaceship what that when somebody tells [TS]

00:53:00   you there's a spaceship [TS]

00:53:01   what do you do fire rockets out [TS]

00:53:03   naturally tip when they fired that [TS]

00:53:06   spaceship up at the aliens the aliens [TS]

00:53:07   immediately blew it up [TS]

00:53:09   yeah this is how it worked in the [TS]

00:53:10   sixties this is why we were in such dire [TS]

00:53:13   geopolitical straight but the Rockets [TS]

00:53:15   have no effect you know they're just [TS]

00:53:16   they just aren't working [TS]

00:53:17   although the Martians feel like they [TS]

00:53:19   need to leave immediately we discovered [TS]

00:53:20   india fears nuclear weapons [TS]

00:53:22   yes that would destroy them that's not [TS]

00:53:25   unusual though especially coming from a [TS]

00:53:28   planet that has been leveled by atomic [TS]

00:53:30   war [TS]

00:53:31   you would think that the very least the [TS]

00:53:32   Rockets would sort of do put out big [TS]

00:53:35   divots and it might like tip the [TS]

00:53:36   spaceship over something but it were [TS]

00:53:38   just told that the Rockets cause they're [TS]

00:53:40   we see some very small explosions happen [TS]

00:53:42   around it but the spaceship is all [TS]

00:53:44   divots to begin with [TS]

00:53:45   that's true are they from Mars no I [TS]

00:53:48   don't have noticed a nuclear war up [TS]

00:53:49   there now I don't think anything [TS]

00:53:51   happened to Mars now I think they're [TS]

00:53:53   from some distant galaxies and it just [TS]

00:53:55   happens that we're sending a guy up to [TS]

00:53:57   Mars simultaneous to them [TS]

00:53:59   ok arriving interesting okay good i [TS]

00:54:02   really feel like there are nuclear war [TS]

00:54:04   on Mars somebody here would notice it [TS]

00:54:06   seems likely that NASA might pocket that [TS]

00:54:08   characterization of their ability to [TS]

00:54:09   monitor [TS]

00:54:11   Mars why can't I can't I can't say it's [TS]

00:54:13   canonical in the text of this fine but i [TS]

00:54:16   believe it was referred to in some [TS]

00:54:19   markets more specifically as Mars [TS]

00:54:22   Attacks puerto rico Mars invades puerto [TS]

00:54:26   rico so you know again non-canonical [TS]

00:54:29   yeah the title can't be trusted anyway I [TS]

00:54:31   grite witness Frankenstein Meets The [TS]

00:54:34   space monster we're about to get to the [TS]

00:54:37   point where that sort of happens [TS]

00:54:38   look I know what a space monster with a [TS]

00:54:40   space in the middle looks like but this [TS]

00:54:41   could very well be a space monster the [TS]

00:54:43   space monster not a sponsor there's one [TS]

00:54:47   just monsters the one well then that [TS]

00:54:49   makes the end actually kind of tragic it [TS]

00:54:52   does spoilers but also the word meets is [TS]

00:54:54   not entirely accurate for going forward [TS]

00:54:56   but if there's a meeting maybe I have [TS]

00:54:59   Frankenstein it's not like they had [TS]

00:55:01   learned that introduced or anything it's [TS]

00:55:04   not a formal social introduction mr. [TS]

00:55:06   like you you must be the space monster [TS]

00:55:08   I'm Frank Frank let's talk to you later [TS]

00:55:11   yeah Frank so Frank gets up i connect [TS]

00:55:13   the about document years we must leave [TS]

00:55:15   immediately because they're gonna be my [TS]

00:55:17   new cust but Frank gets up he gets a gun [TS]

00:55:19   from one of the spaceman he frees all [TS]

00:55:21   the women and and this is happening just [TS]

00:55:23   as they're stopping the firing of of the [TS]

00:55:27   rockets at the spaceship which is [TS]

00:55:28   convenient otherwise they would kill all [TS]

00:55:30   the women who are now fleeing from the [TS]

00:55:31   spaceship that because but Adam has [TS]

00:55:33   stopped it because he's written up on [TS]

00:55:35   his best buy and told the general to [TS]

00:55:37   cease fire which is this is what you do [TS]

00:55:39   when their Rockets coming down [TS]

00:55:40   everywhere you ride your best but yeah [TS]

00:55:43   damn right you do [TS]

00:55:44   you totally saved their very agile [TS]

00:55:46   little vehicles you know very tight [TS]

00:55:48   turning radius so now the women can [TS]

00:55:51   escape but mall the mont space monster [TS]

00:55:54   is released this I wrote in my notes is [TS]

00:55:57   what we waited for finally Frankenstein [TS]

00:56:00   Meets The space monster Frank pushes [TS]

00:56:02   Karen out of the out of the spaceship [TS]

00:56:04   but Frank for some reason doesn't jump [TS]

00:56:08   after her or in that moment it's not [TS]

00:56:10   edited well but in that moment where he [TS]

00:56:11   might go [TS]

00:56:12   he's pulled back inside by the space [TS]

00:56:14   monster at which point they meet by [TS]

00:56:16   which i mean they fight you Frank thinks [TS]

00:56:18   to himself I I really would like to meet [TS]

00:56:20   that space monster [TS]

00:56:21   mm and the space months because a we [TS]

00:56:24   haven't [TS]

00:56:24   bed yet gimme ya get it right there so [TS]

00:56:28   we get the epic smoke obscure duel that [TS]

00:56:30   we were promised between robot in the [TS]

00:56:31   space monster and by dual I mean that [TS]

00:56:33   they they hold each other's shoulders [TS]

00:56:35   and rock back and forth help and this [TS]

00:56:37   was the time for some dance music really [TS]

00:56:39   looks more like a gentle waltz really [TS]

00:56:41   then yeah big total we only have one [TS]

00:56:43   application of each of these special [TS]

00:56:44   effects makeup so don't touch the face [TS]

00:56:46   after fighting it's that you know it's [TS]

00:56:49   the title they're grappling the [TS]

00:56:50   grappling is what they're doing it [TS]

00:56:52   should be Frankenstein grafals facebook [TS]

00:56:54   yeah right that gives away too much [TS]

00:56:56   though we're meeting really really [TS]

00:56:58   closely but you're hardly going to grab [TS]

00:57:00   the guy if you haven't met him so [TS]

00:57:01   certain nadir says you know a launch the [TS]

00:57:04   Rockets the Rockets start to go up Frank [TS]

00:57:07   is still fighting the space monster and [TS]

00:57:11   then uh they've what he blows up the [TS]

00:57:14   ship [TS]

00:57:15   well technically he shoots one of the [TS]

00:57:17   guns toward the princess and ear at [TS]

00:57:19   which point they are crushed by beams [TS]

00:57:22   well well so the ship we see an [TS]

00:57:25   explosion on the outside of the ship [TS]

00:57:26   inside the ship the cardboard roof of [TS]

00:57:29   the set falls down on them [TS]

00:57:30   I way I'm excited to see that crushed by [TS]

00:57:32   beams is already a classic spaceship [TS]

00:57:34   death in 1965 no predating khan by but [TS]

00:57:38   almost two decades [TS]

00:57:40   yeah well that's what's gonna get you [TS]

00:57:41   it's not the airless airless vacuum of [TS]

00:57:44   space [TS]

00:57:44   it's the it's the same useless am being [TS]

00:57:47   just the roof beams ya weilin beams [TS]

00:57:49   somebody needs to really perfect the [TS]

00:57:51   beam free space ship design and again [TS]

00:57:53   say this is one of those points where [TS]

00:57:55   the that mean I love to the music [TS]

00:57:57   shifted between the doors and beetles [TS]

00:57:59   that ever leave style and then like the [TS]

00:58:02   man from uncle soundtrack on seed yeah [TS]

00:58:05   it was nuts [TS]

00:58:06   I think we have spaceship without beams [TS]

00:58:08   but they will have bottomless pit [TS]

00:58:10   without railings either i still don't [TS]

00:58:14   know why they brought the monster but [TS]

00:58:16   their lease you meet frankenstein you've [TS]

00:58:19   got to have a monster how are you gonna [TS]

00:58:21   menace lady scientists to find out what [TS]

00:58:24   their devices are you don't expect a [TS]

00:58:26   monster was others a plot hole that [TS]

00:58:28   wants to is like caused by radiation [TS]

00:58:29   knew he was the old king or no Prince [TS]

00:58:32   he's just a nice monster mama they have [TS]

00:58:36   him in a cage [TS]

00:58:37   try to read a whole bunch of sardines [TS]

00:58:38   crap into this thing is just a space [TS]

00:58:40   process sometimes space monsters just a [TS]

00:58:42   space monster well the end of the film [TS]

00:58:44   he decays new pilot boom oh just so that [TS]

00:58:47   it does [TS]

00:58:47   ya know he's very exclusively because if [TS]

00:58:50   you don't have a space monster you [TS]

00:58:52   cannot intimidate lady scientists into [TS]

00:58:54   giving up the secrets of their advanced [TS]

00:58:57   looking for devices don't think dr. dear [TS]

00:58:59   could do that on his own [TS]

00:59:01   I think he's holding himself that I [TS]

00:59:02   don't think he's terribly intimidating [TS]

00:59:03   to be honest this phone could be called [TS]

00:59:06   just called Frankenstein space robots [TS]

00:59:08   yes you could or smiles and looks at [TS]

00:59:12   Madison or stockings and I yeah cut out [TS]

00:59:14   everything that's not dr. dear you've [TS]

00:59:16   got a great so it's very sad Frank Frank [TS]

00:59:18   it has died but the threat from the [TS]

00:59:20   space whatever is is over because [TS]

00:59:22   they're dead apparently ? monster is [TS]

00:59:25   also died so another sad thing [TS]

00:59:26   yea indeed we don't blame him he's a [TS]

00:59:29   monster it's his nature and that's at [TS]

00:59:31   the end and then we get more scooter [TS]

00:59:34   music and writing of scooters the end [TS]

00:59:37   credits two more minutes of them farting [TS]

00:59:39   around san juan on a scooter and a [TS]

00:59:41   prominent song credit or to prominence [TS]

00:59:43   on credit which reminded me of the [TS]

00:59:45   Roxette credit in the supermarket [TS]

00:59:48   yeah yes but that's the way it's gotta [TS]

00:59:52   be by the poets and to have and to hold [TS]

00:59:53   by the distant cousins because God knows [TS]

00:59:56   you want to have and hold your distant [TS]

00:59:58   cousin cousins [TS]

00:59:58   cousin cousins [TS]

01:00:00   golden cliffs their key decisions [TS]

01:00:02   clothes in your distant cousins closer [TS]

01:00:04   it is worth noting that the final scene [TS]

01:00:06   before the last scooter scene is James [TS]

01:00:09   Karen and the lady scientist weeping [TS]

01:00:11   bitterly over the state of their careers [TS]

01:00:14   no doubt that you only fail upwards it [TS]

01:00:17   now so they got a better job build a [TS]

01:00:18   bigger role than that yeah they got the [TS]

01:00:20   next rope it just go back and build [TS]

01:00:22   another robot robot lhr fit their space [TS]

01:00:26   men out there but not space women [TS]

01:00:28   because the last one blew up in that [TS]

01:00:30   spaceship apparently this is what led to [TS]

01:00:32   the giant to increase military budgets [TS]

01:00:34   after that area found out they were [TS]

01:00:35   space monsters and the bigger limits but [TS]

01:00:40   natural enemy of the space monster the [TS]

01:00:42   robot or Frank nature in all its beauty [TS]

01:00:44   of all these predators and prey so [TS]

01:00:46   Frankenstein Meets The space monster [TS]

01:00:49   yes what I would like to let's talk [TS]

01:00:52   about that man I would like that's like [TS]

01:00:54   radar dish know whether because we watch [TS]

01:00:56   these movies thinking that they're going [TS]

01:00:58   to be bad but you know they could be [TS]

01:00:59   different kinds of bad they could be [TS]

01:01:00   spookily good bad they could be [TS]

01:01:02   frightening ly funny they could be as [TS]

01:01:04   totally Storify ignore other things like [TS]

01:01:07   that I'm just kind of curious things [TS]

01:01:08   what everybody thought of Frankenstein [TS]

01:01:11   Meets The the space monster let's start [TS]

01:01:14   with Monty I thought it was fascinating [TS]

01:01:17   it's very reliant on stock footage but [TS]

01:01:20   its stock footage that I enjoyed looking [TS]

01:01:21   at so what ya up [TS]

01:01:24   oh I I do not regret a minute of the 88 [TS]

01:01:29   minutes I spent watching it or the 66 [TS]

01:01:32   minutes I've now spent talking about it [TS]

01:01:33   up all right [TS]

01:01:36   glen III have to concur hardly with [TS]

01:01:39   muddy I was not sure what to expect I [TS]

01:01:41   knew you enjoyed it so i expect it would [TS]

01:01:43   be you know at least a romp and i found [TS]

01:01:45   it like wasn't sophisticated no tell [TS]

01:01:48   wasn't sophisticated but um it was it [TS]

01:01:51   was really for all it was a it was so [TS]

01:01:54   was made so weirdly and sometimes semi [TS]

01:01:57   amateurishly that it was fascinating to [TS]

01:01:59   watch what people who didn't really know [TS]

01:02:01   how to make a movie would do when [TS]

01:02:03   presented with the opportunity to make [TS]

01:02:05   one so it came across i don't know i [TS]

01:02:06   think their crosses as a fun with lots [TS]

01:02:09   of you know some moments of long drives [TS]

01:02:11   but then also people stuffed in the back [TS]

01:02:13   of cars i mean you know there's a long [TS]

01:02:15   drive but they're also like five people [TS]

01:02:17   stuck in the backseat so if that made it [TS]

01:02:19   better so I i quite enjoyed this idea [TS]

01:02:21   this much more than I think I have any [TS]

01:02:23   right to expect to enjoy a movie of this [TS]

01:02:25   kind david i-i thought it was charmingly [TS]

01:02:28   awful [TS]

01:02:30   I mean it was delightful but it was I [TS]

01:02:32   mean it was terrible [TS]

01:02:35   I've seen worse films I and i gotta say [TS]

01:02:38   I like any film [TS]

01:02:40   yeah that also from Vincent Canby I i [TS]

01:02:44   have to say i like any bad film that I [TS]

01:02:47   can continuously rip through without [TS]

01:02:49   thinking about it and without watching [TS]

01:02:51   it a second time it was just sort of it [TS]

01:02:53   was a very very fertile film for ripping [TS]

01:02:58   so i like that i can say was good but [TS]

01:03:01   but and but even at that you know there [TS]

01:03:03   were a couple of scenes that were [TS]

01:03:04   actually kind of not badly thought-out [TS]

01:03:08   if not well made and some of the stock [TS]

01:03:14   footage was interesting I mean this was [TS]

01:03:15   the first time I went out to Cocoa Beach [TS]

01:03:17   was only about nine years later so it [TS]

01:03:19   was kind of interesting to see and go [TS]

01:03:20   hey I would do remember this this is [TS]

01:03:22   cold so you know having flashbacks for [TS]

01:03:26   the first 20 minutes I don't know [TS]

01:03:28   so just spookily good bail carry so [TS]

01:03:31   Steve our way when you first watch this [TS]

01:03:33   you posted a thing in our in our slack [TS]

01:03:35   channel saying this is mst3k bad guys [TS]

01:03:38   so what do you think now I stand by that [TS]

01:03:40   it is mst3k bad I i wish i wish it were [TS]

01:03:44   I wish there were retracted this would [TS]

01:03:47   be idling a very rippable movie [TS]

01:03:49   well the problem is the problem is this [TS]

01:03:50   and and this is why I didn't enjoy this [TS]

01:03:53   movie and that is that the stock footage [TS]

01:03:54   did nothing for me I've seen all of it [TS]

01:03:56   before and I will say it was common for [TS]

01:03:58   maybe the astro van it was constantly I [TS]

01:04:01   thought the right have not seen the [TS]

01:04:02   Astro fan before but it was competently [TS]

01:04:04   woven into the narrative which is more [TS]

01:04:06   than I can say for a lot of uses of [TS]

01:04:08   stock footage and bad movies [TS]

01:04:09   I mean it actually like it made sense [TS]

01:04:11   for there to be a tank at this point or [TS]

01:04:13   for there to be a car at this point [TS]

01:04:15   which sometimes that doesn't happen but [TS]

01:04:18   yea mostly I was just bored by what I [TS]

01:04:20   what I was calling modes of [TS]

01:04:22   transportation the musical [TS]

01:04:25   and here's why from 357 25 42 we get a [TS]

01:04:30   minute and 45 seconds of driving through [TS]

01:04:32   orlando to a half-minute adventures [TS]

01:04:34   track for two effects from 1139 to 1430 [TS]

01:04:38   we got two minutes and 51 seconds of a [TS]

01:04:41   NASA stock footage montage we do the [TS]

01:04:44   transfer van at this point which is nice [TS]

01:04:45   and the strains of that's the way it's [TS]

01:04:47   gotta be [TS]

01:04:48   and then more stock watch footage from [TS]

01:04:50   1655 to 1739 we get 44 seconds of [TS]

01:04:53   traveling by parachute after ejecting [TS]

01:04:55   from the caps are i love the parachutes [TS]

01:04:57   done wonderful who we get a minute and [TS]

01:04:59   31 seconds from 33 25 to 34 56 of [TS]

01:05:03   traveling from the San Juan plane to the [TS]

01:05:05   airport to the car and the slowstar was [TS]

01:05:07   slow motorcade top where Rico from 3922 [TS]

01:05:11   4130 we get two minutes and 10 seconds [TS]

01:05:13   of scootering through san juan with the [TS]

01:05:15   distant cousins which I would watch on [TS]

01:05:18   its own 5431 we get a minute nine [TS]

01:05:20   seconds of stock military vehicle [TS]

01:05:22   footage at 5920 we get 57 seconds of [TS]

01:05:26   scooter riding with James Karen there [TS]

01:05:27   are exclamation marks at the end of all [TS]

01:05:29   of these notes by the way I 10 248 we [TS]

01:05:32   get a minute and 20 seconds of men [TS]

01:05:34   running out of buildings and getting [TS]

01:05:35   into fighter jets and the jets play [TS]

01:05:36   around for a while I want to 544 we get [TS]

01:05:40   a minute and 16 seconds of choppers and [TS]

01:05:42   tanks and stuff at one 1404 we get more [TS]

01:05:44   riding around on a scooter over the end [TS]

01:05:46   credits for a grand total of fifteen [TS]

01:05:48   minutes and 47 seconds of people going [TS]

01:05:51   from one place to another with some [TS]

01:05:53   weird off off-brand music playing over [TS]

01:05:57   the back of it and you know it as much [TS]

01:06:01   as I would like to say i absolutely love [TS]

01:06:03   nature and I like the songs this side [TS]

01:06:05   the scenes he's in all i could probably [TS]

01:06:07   have done a similar timeline of all of [TS]

01:06:08   the nods and smiles [TS]

01:06:10   oh yes but when you've got roughly a [TS]

01:06:14   quarter of your hour and 60 minute movie [TS]

01:06:16   that's just pure stock footage you just [TS]

01:06:18   don't have enough to hook me and as much [TS]

01:06:20   as I would like to see a rifftrax done [TS]

01:06:22   something like this there's just there's [TS]

01:06:23   only so many times you can say something [TS]

01:06:25   like it's the charge of the stock [TS]

01:06:26   footage brigade before it gets kind of [TS]

01:06:28   da I was thinking you might need to [TS]

01:06:31   write some parody lyrics to the to the [TS]

01:06:34   scooter song oh that might be a way to [TS]

01:06:36   go to heaven to hold yeah you could [TS]

01:06:39   maybe get mileage out of that for the [TS]

01:06:40   first appearance of that but then you [TS]

01:06:42   got another two minutes and 10 seconds [TS]

01:06:43   at the end where you have a reprieve it [TS]

01:06:45   so it's it's tough i don't know didn't [TS]

01:06:48   do much for me i gotta say although it [TS]

01:06:50   wasn't as bad as I imagined it could be [TS]

01:06:54   based on the kind of reviews that got [TS]

01:06:56   yeah I I this disappeared in some like [TS]

01:06:59   worst films of all time list and I just [TS]

01:07:01   don't see that I I I feel like we've [TS]

01:07:03   seen worst films we've seen worst films [TS]

01:07:05   in the rocket surgery series oh yeah [TS]

01:07:07   that's true yes i mean this this is head [TS]

01:07:10   and shoulders above super mario brothers [TS]

01:07:12   this is at least vaguely coherent you're [TS]

01:07:14   gonna make that guy on the internet who [TS]

01:07:16   luvs super mario brothers very angry now [TS]

01:07:18   llamas i don't know if i would say it's [TS]

01:07:20   coherent but I i'm actually gonna go [TS]

01:07:22   with David and say this is spookily good [TS]

01:07:24   bad i I'm not somebody like Monty who I [TS]

01:07:27   think takes an extra-special Glee in [TS]

01:07:30   things that are bad men and wondering [TS]

01:07:33   why you know I i need i just i need a [TS]

01:07:37   little bit more and yet this this hit [TS]

01:07:38   the right spot in the sense that it's [TS]

01:07:39   got the music and it's I could I could [TS]

01:07:41   laugh at the leg v.i.c I enjoyed the [TS]

01:07:44   lengthy stock footage things in the [TS]

01:07:46   linky linky scooter rides just because [TS]

01:07:48   it's it was so silly and that and the [TS]

01:07:50   butt party is hilarious about parties [TS]

01:07:53   great i will grant you but party i do [TS]

01:07:55   nobody's criticizing the butt part know [TS]

01:07:57   why I hope not [TS]

01:07:59   so I yeah I would say I i was [TS]

01:08:01   entertained by it for all of its [TS]

01:08:03   whatever 88 minutes of it but the the [TS]

01:08:06   stock footage i was i joyed playing find [TS]

01:08:09   the stock footage right which is a [TS]

01:08:10   really easy game to play in this movie [TS]

01:08:12   but it was fun it was like what will the [TS]

01:08:14   next batch of stock footage be a party [TS]

01:08:17   actually almost has the character of [TS]

01:08:19   stock footage at certain yes like ya [TS]

01:08:21   seen if somebody's mom walking around [TS]

01:08:24   with a cup on her head [TS]

01:08:25   that seems like that could have been [TS]

01:08:26   through film and just a couple of those [TS]

01:08:27   close-ups of dancing was like that car [TS]

01:08:30   at the beginning of the movie probably [TS]

01:08:32   shot for the movie but could just as [TS]

01:08:34   well be stock footage it showed up [TS]

01:08:36   throughout we saw that car that we had [TS]

01:08:38   one car for the film [TS]

01:08:39   yeah probably so i looked at the credits [TS]

01:08:43   i was interested to Karen that this is [TS]

01:08:46   the kind of people who you cast and [TS]

01:08:47   Frank that means the space monster kit [TS]

01:08:49   Karen had a very brief career [TS]

01:08:51   we're playing characters with names like [TS]

01:08:54   pool jumper and second woman ice [TS]

01:08:59   meanwhile know the Maryland handled who [TS]

01:09:02   who was the princess was in a couple of [TS]

01:09:04   episodes of the batman TV series [TS]

01:09:07   actually that she she was in an in like [TS]

01:09:09   flint as Amazon number eight [TS]

01:09:11   she was basically the one of the shoes [TS]

01:09:13   AAA sort of a stock pretty woman in [TS]

01:09:17   small parts for a lot of other way was [TS]

01:09:19   she was she's a brain was she the woman [TS]

01:09:22   in the brain that wouldn't die [TS]

01:09:23   who is the brain that wouldn't die you [TS]

01:09:25   want to shut off and is in the brain [TS]

01:09:27   that wouldn't die without the cut-off [TS]

01:09:29   head not Jan in the pan like so yeah [TS]

01:09:33   sheshe was in some other stuff but [TS]

01:09:36   anyway I anyway I enjoyed it because i [TS]

01:09:38   was i was dreading the kind [TS]

01:09:41   this is what I've learned from listening [TS]

01:09:42   flophouses it turns out that bad movies [TS]

01:09:44   aren't the worst thing to watch boring [TS]

01:09:46   movies the worst thing to watch and I [TS]

01:09:47   wasn't I wasn't because of the music and [TS]

01:09:50   the sixties it is such a sixties movie [TS]

01:09:52   it is so well it's ok it's such a bits [TS]

01:09:56   copied from lots of other 60 movies and [TS]

01:09:59   stock footage that I i was never [TS]

01:10:02   particularly as particularly board or [TS]

01:10:05   too bored anyway and and i laughed a lot [TS]

01:10:08   at how ridiculous was so you know it is [TS]

01:10:12   more to it than something like monster [TS]

01:10:14   ago go or how well come on dude and it's [TS]

01:10:17   more and it's because its plot is it's [TS]

01:10:19   fairly linear and and and he's not a [TS]

01:10:21   Frankenstein he's a robot but still it's [TS]

01:10:23   going to do better than you know yours [TS]

01:10:25   you're battling Zardoz plots or [TS]

01:10:28   Frankenstein island or something like [TS]

01:10:30   that where just makes no sense at all [TS]

01:10:32   this is American island much worse movie [TS]

01:10:34   with Frankenstein in the title i [TS]

01:10:36   recommend that they actually managed to [TS]

01:10:37   make a movie from this which is pretty [TS]

01:10:40   impressive one more thing on dr. nadir [TS]

01:10:43   yes amazing Larry in pee-wee's big [TS]

01:10:45   adventure [TS]

01:10:46   mhm he has some some interesting credits [TS]

01:10:49   yeah he's got great facial expressions [TS]

01:10:51   he's really good [TS]

01:10:52   yeah he's like 90 things and [TS]

01:10:54   is he what he does he's the guy who does [TS]

01:10:57   that thing he does very well excuse just [TS]

01:11:00   like a loosely installed guy who does [TS]

01:11:02   that thing he does very well no you know [TS]

01:11:04   the thing he does [TS]

01:11:05   someday I hope to have that on my [TS]

01:11:06   tombstone he's the kind of guy that did [TS]

01:11:08   more than one roll on Barney Miller i [TS]

01:11:11   will say i did like it better on this on [TS]

01:11:12   the rewatch than I did the first time i [TS]

01:11:14   think the the aisle I was able to let [TS]

01:11:16   the stock footage just wash / add some [TS]

01:11:18   way to do it but you gotta do that I [TS]

01:11:21   don't fight it any and when it starts to [TS]

01:11:24   flag you just think there's a butt party [TS]

01:11:25   coming up its butt but parties on the [TS]

01:11:27   way man long as I know the block party [TS]

01:11:29   is just over the horizon [TS]

01:11:31   I'm okay with all this coming hearing [TS]

01:11:33   what he's coming hold a hot but it's [TS]

01:11:36   hard to come and go through but party [TS]

01:11:38   alright well we we have we have survived [TS]

01:11:41   the nineteen sixties with rocket surgery [TS]

01:11:43   I do we dare go to the fifties I guess [TS]

01:11:46   we have to do that don't worry I we [TS]

01:11:47   kinda have to [TS]

01:11:48   why I don't know because they've got to [TS]

01:11:51   be terrible looked terrible sci-fi [TS]

01:11:53   movies made in the fifties right guess [TS]

01:11:54   we have to ask why a couple of episodes [TS]

01:11:56   ago [TS]

01:11:57   alright well until we meet again to be [TS]

01:11:59   stupid people who watch a bad movie and [TS]

01:12:02   talk about it i'd like to thank my [TS]

01:12:04   guests for joining me for another [TS]

01:12:06   edition of the incomparable rocket [TS]

01:12:08   surgery [TS]

01:12:31   of houses of parliament Monty Ashley [TS]

01:12:45   say on the contrary i'm actually a [TS]
