00:00:37   teams of contestants who are going to [TS]

00:00:39   fight against each other to the death or [TS]

00:00:41   at least on a podcast to gain and to the [TS]

00:00:45   pain exactly in and something that we've [TS]

00:00:49   never done before that we like to call [TS]

00:00:50   what we call this the incomparable game [TS]

00:00:52   show as a way to celebrate the [TS]

00:00:54   ridiculousness of april fools day so [TS]

00:00:56   where did you ever come up with that [TS]

00:00:58   name being comfortable game show [TS]

00:01:00   I got it out of a vending machine I [TS]

00:01:03   thought the show was called train wreck [TS]

00:01:04   in a coal mine [TS]

00:01:05   yeah a train wreck coming that's our [TS]

00:01:06   that's our our slogan for the [TS]

00:01:08   uncomfortable game show [TS]

00:01:10   thank you train wreck a common I we have [TS]

00:01:13   split the six contestants into two teams [TS]

00:01:16   and then I realized they were they were [TS]

00:01:18   my contemporaries and people who are [TS]

00:01:20   roughly a decade younger than me so I've [TS]

00:01:22   made them team old men and team young [TS]

00:01:24   man so team old features Steve let's hi [TS]

00:01:27   Steve ledge [TS]

00:01:53   in their thirties with pristine team [TS]

00:01:55   young dan more'n I damn this is totally [TS]

00:01:58   rad John siracusa I think it's insulting [TS]

00:02:03   that i'm not on the old man cranky and [TS]

00:02:14   and I know I think John makes the [TS]

00:02:17   mistake of thinking that there's dignity [TS]

00:02:18   on the old man team yeah haha clearly [TS]

00:02:21   not and also young man Scott melting [TS]

00:02:23   haha oh I think cracking this transcends [TS]

00:02:37   old [TS]

00:02:37   yeah you do it's confusing i believe [TS]

00:02:41   that i believe the show is pretty [TS]

00:02:42   infected all the old men are sick or [TS]

00:02:44   suffering allergies justjust to notice [TS]

00:03:04   perform a series of tasks in a several [TS]

00:03:07   rounds as many as nine perhaps if we [TS]

00:03:10   have the time and I will grant points [TS]

00:03:12   based on how you know I cheese and the [TS]

00:03:17   point train wreck coming and the points [TS]

00:08:11   each team will announce a word each [TS]

00:08:13   player on a team will give you a [TS]

00:08:15   definition one of them is true the other [TS]

00:08:18   two definitions are false [TS]

00:08:20   the other team needs to choose with [TS]

00:08:22   again [TS]

00:08:23   is no peeking needs to needs to choose [TS]

00:08:25   which term is actually correct these are [TS]

00:09:50   not really even how are you even on this [TS]

00:09:52   part that's a good question [TS]

00:09:54   it's a fair point alright fine there an [TS]

00:09:59   alien race from Babylon 5 marar uh who [TS]

00:10:03   are basically humanoids a button instead [TS]

00:10:07   of a regular human like head they have a [TS]

00:10:09   baby [TS]

00:10:10   cthulhu attached to their next and they [TS]

00:10:26   about my god anti-capitalism thing [TS]

00:10:30   well and they look like seafood so maybe [TS]

00:10:32   thats that's the thing right arm and and [TS]

00:10:36   they have a very unique and in somewhat [TS]

00:10:37   heinous mechanism for food digestion and [TS]

00:10:39   expulsion so they get their own their [TS]

00:12:08   think it's great but I that's that's [TS]

00:12:11   kind of my feelings don't matter but i'm [TS]

00:12:14   not i'm not sure exactly what Glenn's I [TS]

00:12:16   vote for Glenn as the real one [TS]

00:12:18   what's your vote Tom got which one which [TS]

00:12:22   was gone again forgotten the first one [TS]

00:12:24   it's a battle court ride or walk about [TS]

00:12:27   you just really enjoy saying that don't [TS]

00:12:31   usually does to the moon a perverse part [TS]

00:12:34   of me still wants to go with Steve's but [TS]

00:12:35   I [TS]

00:12:36   I will defer to be others member of the [TS]

00:12:37   young man's t.o.o that's a mistake about [TS]

00:12:41   your heart no we gotta reach an all-new [TS]

00:12:46   get you started [TS]

00:12:48   you're the tiebreaker here oh this is [TS]

00:12:50   not a good well rather time for school [TS]

00:12:52   haha i will I think maybe uh I will go [TS]

00:12:58   with Steve as well you know you went [TS]

00:13:02   with steeper the only run the other way [TS]

00:13:04   with Glenn I'm very good wet now [TS]

00:13:06   not that it's not time yet young men [TS]

00:13:10   young men what is your what do you think [TS]

00:13:12   I I'm glad you're gonna switch to Steve [TS]

00:13:18   and the question you're gonna go with [TS]

00:13:19   the original gut instinct and go Steve [TS]

00:13:21   and then we'll be you and Scott voting [TS]

00:13:22   for Steve that's how I will go with i'm [TS]

00:13:25   going to receive I'm going Steve I like [TS]

00:13:27   it arnstein of it that's our final [TS]

00:13:29   answer [TS]

00:13:30   and although Babylon 5 is not part of [TS]

00:13:32   the star trek universe Tupac marar [TS]

00:13:34   indeed carrion-eaters on Babylon at work [TS]

00:13:36   yes that's good [TS]

00:13:38   thailand as the oldest I'm guiding you [TS]

00:13:40   I'm guiding the younger members of the [TS]

00:13:42   team [TS]

00:13:43   bye-bye away sway process is sending [TS]

00:13:45   them away so I five points for the young [TS]

00:13:47   team on that one and for guessing it [TS]

00:13:50   properly and i'm going to give a two [TS]

00:13:52   bonus points to the old men for [TS]

00:13:54   thoroughly confusing the young men with [TS]

00:13:57   their lives and especially that's really [TS]

00:13:59   first and for being said what r you [TS]

00:14:01   gonna get the bonus points we figure it [TS]

00:14:03   out we got a right well get confused as [TS]

00:14:05   well your your your portrayal of your [TS]

00:14:06   lives gives you bonus points so that you [TS]

00:14:09   will now get the chance to get them to [TS]

00:14:10   but Steve get those points for for [TS]

00:14:12   telling the truth so ineffectively uh [TS]

00:14:14   yes right of course I knew that Star [TS]

00:14:17   Trek in Babylon 5 or totally unrelated [TS]

00:14:19   entities that [TS]

00:14:23   some sort of memory yes ok so team young [TS]

00:14:27   it is your turn what is your word are [TS]

00:14:31   worried you should call in somebody so [TS]

00:14:32   we don't i'll get away by I i will call [TS]

00:14:36   in somebody but so Scott what is your [TS]

00:14:38   word it is [TS]

00:14:40   camera camera yeah right [TS]

00:14:43   and who would like to go first can you [TS]

00:14:46   use it in a sentence I can use a sense [TS]

00:14:48   and it's going to go first all right [TS]

00:14:50   before we start what's the definition [TS]

00:14:52   haha you guys were just having like one [TS]

00:14:55   direction reg camera is a noun [TS]

00:14:59   it's a small lizard creature that lives [TS]

00:15:02   on the planet of bokra and the star wars [TS]

00:15:04   novel the truth before or to use it in a [TS]

00:15:07   sentence throw another camera on the [TS]

00:15:09   barbie [TS]

00:15:10   alright wow you would like to go next [TS]

00:15:14   time i think is going on I just had this [TS]

00:15:18   awful realization that Jason is Peter [TS]

00:15:20   sagal in this situation yes it's true i [TS]

00:15:24   will go next [TS]

00:15:25   so we even camera is actually from one [TS]

00:15:29   of the the seminal works of science [TS]

00:15:31   fiction Ursula K Le Guin's the light [TS]

00:15:34   hand the left hand of darkness excuse me [TS]

00:15:37   and it's actually refers to in the novel [TS]

00:15:39   as i'm sure you all know there are three [TS]

00:15:41   genders one is androgynous and they [TS]

00:15:44   enter into to make they enter into some [TS]

00:15:47   form of heat and this heat much like the [TS]

00:15:50   Vulcan pon farr is called camera [TS]

00:15:54   alright and John's alright a comer is [TS]

00:16:00   actually the name of these alchemists [TS]

00:16:01   type characters and a channel be a [TS]

00:16:03   little short story that i have never [TS]

00:16:04   read and the only reason I know this [TS]

00:16:06   definition is because jason said that [TS]

00:16:07   the story's called details [TS]

00:16:09   it's some kind of Lovecraft type story [TS]

00:16:11   about people like dabbling in the dark [TS]

00:16:14   arts with potions and stuff and [TS]

00:16:15   discovering like things lurking in the [TS]

00:16:18   cracks of the world i have tried to read [TS]

00:16:20   many China Mieville books and have not [TS]

00:16:21   made it through any of them so I sure [TS]

00:16:23   i'm sure i would not like the short [TS]

00:16:24   story either way to cover it up John [TS]

00:16:27   alright hold early rejection so team old [TS]

00:16:31   men do you have a choice about which one [TS]

00:16:32   of these is the true definition of [TS]

00:16:34   camera i think series rail [TS]

00:16:37   too hard for mr. around here i'm leaning [TS]

00:16:39   towards right without going into his [TS]

00:16:40   arguments but yea years ago I did too [TS]

00:16:44   and it sounds I thought when I first [TS]

00:16:45   heard the word I was thinking it was [TS]

00:16:47   from something i read long ago and I've [TS]

00:16:49   read naval recently and it doesn't ring [TS]

00:16:52   any bells so i'm i'm leaning left Steve [TS]

00:16:55   I'm voting like win too [TS]

00:16:57   ok we have consent alright now we're [TS]

00:16:59   going for the win I'll go with the [TS]

00:17:02   superior nerds sorry and in fact you are [TS]

00:17:05   correct it is from rehearsal kayla quinn [TS]

00:17:07   look at this both of you can actually [TS]

00:17:09   will actually read the book that's [TS]

00:17:11   unfair and yeah almost did 25 years ago [TS]

00:17:13   and i'm gonna give a bonus points to [TS]

00:17:17   John siracusa for for making it seem [TS]

00:17:20   like he couldn't be bothered to lie but [TS]

00:17:23   that was the longest gonna actually was [TS]

00:17:25   that would only really except for the [TS]

00:17:26   name and really everything that China [TS]

00:17:28   miracle story the fact that i can't read [TS]

00:17:30   his stuff the fact that sounds to me [TS]

00:17:31   like something from one of his books [TS]

00:17:32   that I don't like and yeah you can sit [TS]

00:17:35   with some kind of underwater creature [TS]

00:17:37   that no longer exists i would have [TS]

00:17:38   bought it but not alchemists alright uh [TS]

00:17:40   my canvas cameras come on this is around [TS]

00:17:44   3 now we are moving around three it's [TS]

00:17:46   called which universe are you from i'm [TS]

00:17:49   going to name some aliens you will need [TS]

00:17:51   to tell me where they're from your [TS]

00:17:54   choice check babylon five choices are [TS]

00:17:56   your choices are marvel comics I don't [TS]

00:18:00   know [TS]

00:18:01   doctor-who or assigned novel was the [TS]

00:18:06   only choices because I must surely the [TS]

00:18:08   novel those any sci-fi novel so about [TS]

00:18:12   novelizations of doctor who and here's [TS]

00:18:15   how we're gonna go I'm gonna call today [TS]

00:18:16   I was going to say i'm going to [TS]

00:18:17   alternate between old and young so is [TS]

00:18:20   we're gonna start with team young scroll [TS]

00:18:22   Marvel I got nothing points8 excellent [TS]

00:18:28   where is it [TS]

00:18:29   yeah we as appears by person or by teams [TS]

00:18:31   are and well no you can't nobody has [TS]

00:18:33   shown that somebody's gotta shout out [TS]

00:18:35   and and and Scott shouted Marvel when [TS]

00:18:37   he's getting Scott's right and we confer [TS]

00:18:38   with am right it's a huge Fantastic Four [TS]

00:18:41   and ok you think you can confirm if you [TS]

00:18:43   want to confirm i received just confer [TS]

00:18:47   quietly so it's not misinterpreted as a [TS]

00:18:48   shout team old ok [TS]

00:18:50   k leds or colleagues if you would like [TS]

00:18:56   so we have Marvel Doctor Who or I think [TS]

00:18:59   it's a guy thing it's sci-fi novel what [TS]

00:19:01   do you think that's where I'm that's [TS]

00:19:03   Riley didn't find out sci-fi novel level [TS]

00:19:06   the K legs of course if you reassemble [TS]

00:19:08   the letters of the Daleks their dialects [TS]

00:19:10   all the grace of the Daleks [TS]

00:19:12   Oh doctor sucks to be old haha young and [TS]

00:19:18   team of the ways that matter LOL team [TS]

00:19:22   young dire Wraith what is the last word [TS]

00:19:27   their dire buying rate 3w wherever you [TS]

00:19:30   are i th yes every word of mouth sounds [TS]

00:19:33   like it comes from a comic book dire [TS]

00:19:35   regulate that's I feel like that's I [TS]

00:19:37   think that's my final and I think so too [TS]

00:19:40   did a great job [TS]

00:19:43   alright so finding and the diaries are [TS]

00:19:45   the shape-shifting race of aliens fought [TS]

00:19:48   by rom space night in the Marvel comic [TS]

00:19:50   of the same name [TS]

00:19:52   shame on you shame on all of you team up [TS]

00:19:57   to mold and professional race and D&D [TS]

00:20:00   which haven't had many not knowing any [TS]

00:20:02   of this was making me feel really good [TS]

00:20:03   about myself [TS]

00:20:04   dnd was not an option yeah Team hold [TS]

00:20:07   because NT because the night sort of a [TS]

00:20:15   sci-fi novel is that your final answer [TS]

00:20:18   cannot die novel so he's confident has [TS]

00:20:21   shouted out is good because ntr the are [TS]

00:20:24   the cat like alien race a popularized by [TS]

00:20:27   larry niven a series of books including [TS]

00:20:30   was gonna say Ringworld and i've ever [TS]

00:20:32   read it holds what do you know it's not [TS]

00:20:34   just read it i did and i forgot that [TS]

00:20:37   that wasn't my weed and maybe you should [TS]

00:20:41   be on tmobile you it can't remember is [TS]

00:20:44   Scott's book amnesia is kicking it a [TS]

00:20:47   team young the Shrike well that's [TS]

00:20:53   totally side Rhine oppel does not know [TS]

00:20:56   that's a dance Simmons I [TS]

00:20:59   which I can't remember the name of the [TS]

00:21:01   book but it's totally agree and i do [TS]

00:21:03   have period here [TS]

00:21:04   yes correct correct very good Scott to [TS]

00:21:09   paw and we are wrapping up with team old [TS]

00:21:12   with our last universe question team [TS]

00:21:14   old-fashioned Narada Oh doctor who [TS]

00:21:17   doctor who doctor who everybody agree [TS]

00:21:20   with me [TS]

00:21:21   I agree that plan right correct dr.move [TS]

00:21:25   Ashton nerado I disagree when there's a [TS]

00:21:27   sunbeam and you see stuff floating in it [TS]

00:21:28   those are murderous alien creatures that [TS]

00:21:30   will eat you or a chicken like I had [TS]

00:21:33   questioned nerado once but penicillin [TS]

00:21:35   clear it right up now saying alright [TS]

00:21:37   this course you'll find a lot of the [TS]

00:21:41   Lord Oakeshott because any younger [TS]

00:21:42   either sing ever saving you know that's [TS]

00:21:46   librarything on the downswing and now [TS]

00:21:48   big I i yes [TS]

00:21:52   moving on the score is 15 points for the [TS]

00:21:55   old men and 12 points for the young men [TS]

00:21:57   all right [TS]

00:21:58   oh we know it around for we call this [TS]

00:22:02   debate club somebody do it we're going [TS]

00:22:07   to two rounds of debate club and the way [TS]

00:22:08   this works is I'm going to make a [TS]

00:22:10   statement [TS]

00:22:11   somebody will have to take the pro [TS]

00:22:13   argument somebody will have to take the [TS]

00:22:15   Conn argument you have to do this on the [TS]

00:22:17   drop of the hat you just have to pick [TS]

00:22:18   and you have to go there are going to be [TS]

00:22:20   two separate arguments so each side will [TS]

00:22:23   get to select pro or con of one of them [TS]

00:22:25   you so you'll get the choice and one and [TS]

00:22:27   you'll have to take the alternate view [TS]

00:22:28   and the other so they'll be an initial [TS]

00:22:30   debate statement and then a rebuttal and [TS]

00:22:32   that's it ready for into understandable [TS]

00:22:36   doing that whole team's you guys all [TS]

00:22:37   have to just kind of pile on tmobile [TS]

00:22:39   then you get to choose procon on this [TS]

00:22:42   statement in a fight [TS]

00:22:44   neo from the matrix would totally wipe [TS]

00:22:46   out Superman would you like pro or con a [TS]

00:22:52   con don't you guys [TS]

00:22:54   well it depends on which reality they're [TS]

00:22:56   fighting in what has this could be part [TS]

00:22:58   of your argument but yea yea RT but we [TS]

00:23:00   do skon which is called having it's [TS]

00:23:02   kinda like a young men prepare your [TS]

00:23:04   argument for neo wiping out Superman the [TS]

00:23:09   old men are going to argue back on that [TS]

00:23:11   site that this is not true [TS]

00:23:13   and your time begins now what it comes [TS]

00:23:16   down to is what the real world is what [TS]

00:23:18   the physical world is and well Neil can [TS]

00:23:21   control anything inside the computer [TS]

00:23:22   once he gets out of the computer he's [TS]

00:23:23   just a man he could be torn to pieces by [TS]

00:23:25   Superman yeah and you know superman's [TS]

00:23:28   proven his ability across every reality [TS]

00:23:31   every size you can shrink to microscopic [TS]

00:23:33   size he could be bigger than entire [TS]

00:23:34   universes he can come back from the dead [TS]

00:23:36   he can restore multiverses he was just a [TS]

00:23:39   guy who's got some computer code that he [TS]

00:23:42   can manipulate i'm not really that [TS]

00:23:44   impressed with me oh I don't think a [TS]

00:23:47   Kryptonian would have any problem [TS]

00:23:48   adapting to that there is no spoon [TS]

00:23:50   philosophy of the matrix he could easily [TS]

00:23:53   outpaced neo and in understanding the [TS]

00:23:56   reality inside the computer if he [TS]

00:23:58   happened to be stuck there simply exit [TS]

00:24:00   himself from the computer and then and [TS]

00:24:02   then turn neo into soup it's true we all [TS]

00:24:06   know Kryptonian cells supercomputers [TS]

00:24:08   that far outweigh he could always bring [TS]

00:24:09   in tag team with Brainiac you know get [TS]

00:24:11   some Kryptonian back up there and if [TS]

00:24:13   things go really right well Superman the [TS]

00:24:15   last minute he'll use his super speed [TS]

00:24:17   and turn the earth backwards and go back [TS]

00:24:18   in time and try it again [TS]

00:24:19   neo even in the computer you know learns [TS]

00:24:24   kung foo stops a couple of bullets I'm [TS]

00:24:26   pretending that the second and third [TS]

00:24:27   movies didn't exist answer is nothing [TS]

00:24:29   particularly impressive that he does [TS]

00:24:31   Superman kicks his ass every which way [TS]

00:24:35   tmw have 90 seconds to rebut your time [TS]

00:24:39   begin I've got this one covered your [TS]

00:24:41   time begins now [TS]

00:24:41   oh alright as everyone knows in the [TS]

00:24:44   matrix the humans in an attempt to fight [TS]

00:24:46   the robots black out the sun to prevent [TS]

00:24:49   the robots from using solar power [TS]

00:24:50   without the Sun Superman does not have [TS]

00:24:52   his powers because we all know he [TS]

00:24:54   derives his powers from the yellow sign [TS]

00:24:56   of our third unlike the red side of [TS]

00:24:57   Krypton over the hell it is so with no [TS]

00:25:00   power as we all know that Superman is a [TS]

00:25:02   wimp and gets beat up by losers in bars [TS]

00:25:04   so even if you're in the real world [TS]

00:25:07   where the the robots ruling the humans [TS]

00:25:08   are in little pod Superman will get his [TS]

00:25:10   butt kicked by counter reefs let's add [TS]

00:25:13   this is a metaphysical question where [TS]

00:25:15   what if our reality is in fact the [TS]

00:25:16   reality inside the matrix in which case [TS]

00:25:19   neo can just rewrite the entire fabric [TS]

00:25:21   of it and make it so that Superman [TS]

00:25:23   comics never even existed in Superman [TS]

00:25:25   would be [TS]

00:25:25   rendered inert yeah you real world not [TS]

00:25:28   real world the real world is the matrix [TS]

00:25:30   no matter what new ones all right if so [TS]

00:25:34   if so facto excellent work [TS]

00:25:36   I and i'm going to award that 12 team [TS]

00:25:40   young gonna get the Cirque using yeah [TS]

00:25:44   that the the Yellow Sun woo yeah that's [TS]

00:25:47   impressive and no fair that he speaks in [TS]

00:25:49   paragraphs [TS]

00:25:50   yeah well now you'll have your chance [TS]

00:25:53   team young you get to choose pro or con [TS]

00:25:56   for this and then you've got 90 seconds [TS]

00:26:00   but if I have to choose an apocalypse [TS]

00:26:03   I choose zombies over aliens oh I i [TS]

00:26:07   think we go over your nose and Rozonda [TS]

00:26:10   yeah okay your time begins now [TS]

00:26:12   well i think john has already proved in [TS]

00:26:14   a previous podcast that he is well [TS]

00:26:16   prepared for the apocalypse and zombies [TS]

00:26:18   are a known quantity we know immediately [TS]

00:26:19   what will deal with him you shoot him in [TS]

00:26:21   the head they go down shotguns cricket [TS]

00:26:23   bats [TS]

00:26:24   that's all you really need fire if you [TS]

00:26:25   really feel like it you can armor up [TS]

00:26:27   your house aliens me you don't know [TS]

00:26:28   what's coming like a lot of yours [TS]

00:26:30   yeah and I locking I mean his armies are [TS]

00:26:33   like realize plus they're slow [TS]

00:26:35   I mean true intentions have like six [TS]

00:26:37   lanes and transporting stuff [TS]

00:26:39   zombies don't enslave anyone I'd rather [TS]

00:26:41   be a dead zombie then an alien sex slave [TS]

00:26:45   yeah anal probing and probing from [TS]

00:26:47   zombies sentence cleaner you get that [TS]

00:26:51   number and that's there that's the brand [TS]

00:26:53   promise it's glenn you're not help it [TS]

00:26:58   that's how convincing argument is [TS]

00:27:00   already miss them we've already won [TS]

00:27:03   that's amazing alright I just like the [TS]

00:27:06   statement team old you need to argue [TS]

00:27:07   alien apocalypse overs on this eclipse [TS]

00:27:10   your argument against now the aliens are [TS]

00:27:12   easy sneeze on them the entire race dies [TS]

00:27:15   of smallpox or chicken box of the common [TS]

00:27:17   cold you uploaded mcintosh fiber and 12k [TS]

00:27:20   program and it shuts down their main [TS]

00:27:22   core and crashes all their ships you [TS]

00:27:25   look at them funny and they run back to [TS]

00:27:26   Alpha Centauri to kiss their [TS]

00:27:27   seven-legged mommy [TS]

00:27:29   aliens are wimps aliens went to always [TS]

00:27:31   beat them we always have a solution [TS]

00:27:33   zombies they just keep coming their arms [TS]

00:27:36   legs he coming you hack them up and they [TS]

00:27:37   come and then you become a zombie you [TS]

00:27:39   can become an alien well alright maybe a [TS]

00:27:41   couple movies which that happens but [TS]

00:27:42   it's an outlier or any other arguments [TS]

00:27:46   to mold the alien zombie apocalypse [TS]

00:27:50   never ends there's no way to undo it at [TS]

00:27:52   once the zombie apocalypse starts it [TS]

00:27:54   runs forever it best you can contain it [TS]

00:27:56   aliens can be defeated they can to have [TS]

00:27:58   you can turn their own technology [TS]

00:27:59   against them [TS]

00:28:01   you can use that technology in ways that [TS]

00:28:03   benefit mankind once the alien minutes [TS]

00:28:05   has been removed far away you want to [TS]

00:28:07   choose the alien apocalypse because you [TS]

00:28:10   can own it you can reverse it and you [TS]

00:28:12   can take control of it [TS]

00:28:13   nothing doing with zombies I get well [TS]

00:28:15   aliens can be reasoned with so it's [TS]

00:28:17   possible that you might be able to [TS]

00:28:18   eventually convince the aliens to come [TS]

00:28:20   over to your side and and/or you have a [TS]

00:28:22   truce exactly but with zombies there's [TS]

00:28:25   there's no way they don't learn they [TS]

00:28:27   don't talk eventually going to run out [TS]

00:28:28   of bullets in and you're done [TS]

00:28:30   alright that was excellent that was very [TS]

00:28:33   close i am going to award a narrow [TS]

00:28:36   victory tootsie mold on that one [TS]

00:28:38   my mind I think the fact that because I [TS]

00:28:41   was not only i love them you can wipe [TS]

00:28:43   out zombies it's like smallpox is kill [TS]

00:28:45   them all it was a powerpoint they don't [TS]

00:28:47   worry difficult [TS]

00:28:48   let's move on to round five round five [TS]

00:28:50   is called composer plot you have been [TS]

00:28:53   given in advance i should say three [TS]

00:28:55   characters and told to concoct a plot [TS]

00:28:59   involving those three characters i will [TS]

00:29:01   judge you against your opposition after [TS]

00:29:03   you give your plots who which team well [TS]

00:29:06   let's see team younger behind what by [TS]

00:29:08   one point would you like to go first or [TS]

00:29:10   would you like to wait to see what team [TS]

00:29:11   old has in store [TS]

00:29:12   I i said we go second you guys think [TS]

00:29:17   yeah sounds good alrighty mold please [TS]

00:29:20   tell us what three characters you [TS]

00:29:21   inherited all we got [TS]

00:29:25   Bullwinkle J moose of course from the [TS]

00:29:27   the star trek universe that's Flash [TS]

00:29:32   Gordon and from the star trek yet [TS]

00:29:36   yes from Star Trek universal Star Trek [TS]

00:29:38   characters you got and inhale 9000 from [TS]

00:29:41   supernatural [TS]

00:29:42   so so later on I want to do what is [TS]

00:29:47   alright well we've we've put together a [TS]

00:29:49   a little TV spot for you two to better [TS]

00:29:52   bring home the various complex elements [TS]

00:29:54   of our plot and so I present to you the [TS]

00:32:43   even before the judging that's a bonus [TS]

00:32:46   point for you [TS]

00:32:47   alright moving on a team young can you [TS]

00:32:50   tell us three characters you've had to [TS]

00:32:52   concoct a plot for yes are three [TS]

00:32:56   characters are diehards John McLean Star [TS]

00:32:59   Trek's mr. Spock and of course the only [TS]

00:33:02   logical companion for those two guards [TS]

00:33:05   from wayne's world excellent party like [TS]

00:33:09   all young people we defend ourselves in [TS]

00:33:13   adequately prepared to turn in our [TS]

00:33:15   homework once we see what people thought [TS]

00:33:19   we were all supposed to individually do [TS]

00:33:22   our own plot so we have 3 plus while you [TS]

00:33:25   were going to make it up in volume [TS]

00:33:26   that's fine that's right so we are its [TS]

00:33:28   volume / still be shorter quality [TS]

00:33:30   yeah it will be minimal and probably [TS]

00:33:32   true but but no voices so I would not [TS]

00:33:35   like to go first so who would like to go [TS]

00:33:36   first [TS]

00:33:37   Scotty your first that I i will go first [TS]

00:33:41   now first I have to to give you my quick [TS]

00:33:44   summary pitch think Downton Abbey Meets [TS]

00:33:48   The Hunger Games and i think i've [TS]

00:33:49   already won with that concept so right [TS]

00:33:53   now actually I think I should just stop [TS]

00:33:54   right now but i'll continue so here's a [TS]

00:33:58   little synopsis of the plot here when [TS]

00:34:00   you receive an invitation to Al Gore [TS]

00:34:02   park [TS]

00:34:02   you can't decline constable john mcclane [TS]

00:34:05   of the double McLain arrives at the [TS]

00:34:07   manor house feeling out of his [TS]

00:34:08   f mr. Spock respected scientist is p2 [TS]

00:34:11   have to leave his research behind Spock [TS]

00:34:14   McLain are in the crowded main hall the [TS]

00:34:16   grand old house and in walks Lord Algar [TS]

00:34:19   Garth to his friends he explains that [TS]

00:34:21   each participant represents his class in [TS]

00:34:23   the upcoming games which are compact [TS]

00:34:25   complicated progression of deadly parlor [TS]

00:34:27   games waltzing through a minefield [TS]

00:34:29   poisoned high tea and so on [TS]

00:34:32   one by one the other contestants die [TS]

00:34:34   until two or less standing McClain and [TS]

00:34:36   Spock guards final test is one you'll [TS]

00:34:39   have to see to believe [TS]

00:34:41   okay excellent [TS]

00:34:44   alright i'll follow that up with number [TS]

00:34:46   two it's Christmas 1992 and John McClane [TS]

00:34:50   driving cross-country from Los Angeles [TS]

00:34:52   to New York finds himself snowed in in [TS]

00:34:54   the little town of Aurora Illinois in [TS]

00:34:56   the sky appears a quantum singularity [TS]

00:34:58   and when the dust clears mr. Spock is [TS]

00:35:00   materialized in the car with McLean [TS]

00:35:02   Maclean's works and surprise hitting a [TS]

00:35:04   nearby hitchhiker Garth Algar the [TS]

00:35:06   singularity manifests its own [TS]

00:35:08   consciousness claiming that it is taken [TS]

00:35:10   from their most dearly beloved friends [TS]

00:35:12   James Kirk al Powell and Wayne Campbell [TS]

00:35:15   the three must team up to recover their [TS]

00:35:17   loved ones and discover the true meaning [TS]

00:35:19   of Christmas find out this holiday [TS]

00:35:22   season in no stairway okay and so I'm [TS]

00:35:28   here we go to a cornfield allen and and [TS]

00:35:31   Johnson you're up [TS]

00:35:33   very nice i really want to try to get [TS]

00:35:36   these guys into the some sort of firefly [TS]

00:35:38   plot but i could not do it so i had to [TS]

00:35:40   go with my second truck here we go in [TS]

00:35:44   the far future wars are fought primarily [TS]

00:35:46   with remote-controlled weapons and [TS]

00:35:48   warships garth from wayne's world is a [TS]

00:35:50   camera or a child raised from birth [TS]

00:35:52   development is the best camera anyone [TS]

00:35:55   has ever seen [TS]

00:35:57   america's war effort i called parking [TS]

00:35:59   garage siracusa America's war effort [TS]

00:36:02   hinges on Garth skills Garth is our [TS]

00:36:04   skill so his daring escape from the [TS]

00:36:06   cafetorium is a major problem for the [TS]

00:36:08   Department of Defense as the head of an [TS]

00:36:09   elite Special Forces team is John [TS]

00:36:11   McClane's job to track down Garth and [TS]

00:36:13   return him to his control pod but why [TS]

00:36:15   did guardedly the cafetorium in the [TS]

00:36:16   first place mr. Spock the head of the [TS]

00:36:18   camera training facility seems a bit too [TS]

00:36:20   eager to get Garth back [TS]

00:36:21   what dark secret is he hiding when [TS]

00:36:23   McLain finds Garth will return him to [TS]

00:36:25   the government or grass revelations [TS]

00:36:26   convince mcclain to turn against the [TS]

00:36:28   country he has sworn to serve summer [TS]

00:36:31   okay i'm gonna give you I'm gonna work [TS]

00:36:35   you guys 3 points4 volume there that was [TS]

00:36:39   excellent and that makes the score is [TS]

00:36:41   young team 1914-18 we did you even a [TS]

00:36:45   sinus points besides that bonus point [TS]

00:36:47   yeah that was it that was all you got [TS]

00:36:51   they would have that's what you try too [TS]

00:36:53   hard I mean I want the audience they [TS]

00:36:57   made it up no robbery or even if you [TS]

00:36:59   clarified instructions [TS]

00:37:01   yeah i think i will just increase your [TS]

00:37:03   score further ya think the point is [TS]

00:37:05   reviews wins and every time actually if [TS]

00:37:07   you're if you're old if the team old [TS]

00:37:10   skin had been shorter it might have [TS]

00:37:11   actually got more points but anyway [TS]

00:37:13   we're going to want to use that the four [TS]

00:37:15   hours consult a doctor yes we're going [TS]

00:37:17   to go move on through around six which i [TS]

00:37:20   like to call parallel universe game show [TS]

00:37:23   now here's something you may not know [TS]

00:37:25   about the incomparable it's that we are [TS]

00:37:27   one podcast in a multiverse of [TS]

00:37:30   incomparable podcast in fact this [TS]

00:37:32   podcast exists across the spectrum of [TS]

00:37:35   multiverses and it just so happens that [TS]

00:37:38   today i received an mp3 file that was [TS]

00:37:42   sent to me from a panelist who who was [TS]

00:37:46   not on a podcast with me and i was very [TS]

00:37:47   confused and I played it and it turns [TS]

00:37:49   out it's it fell through a wormhole from [TS]

00:37:52   a parallel universe it's a session of [TS]

00:37:54   the incomparable April Fool's Day game [TS]

00:37:56   show that we didn't record so i was very [TS]

00:38:00   confused by that [TS]

00:38:02   instead it featured Tony sindelar dan [TS]

00:38:06   Frakes ben boychuk serenity Caldwell and [TS]

00:38:09   your and your host Lex Friedman very [TS]

00:38:13   confusing [TS]

00:38:14   I don't know really where it's William [TS]

00:38:15   however since we happen to have access [TS]

00:38:18   to the parallel universe and they were [TS]

00:38:20   doing a game show [TS]

00:38:21   I thought we would use that information [TS]

00:38:23   to play a game of our own so here it is [TS]

00:38:25   they were asked a series of difficult [TS]

00:38:27   questions either or questions each of [TS]

00:38:31   the the panelists your jobs are going to [TS]

00:38:34   be too [TS]

00:38:35   guess what their answer was a team old [TS]

00:38:39   serenity Caldwell was asked the empire [TS]

00:38:41   strikes back or raiders of the lost ark [TS]

00:38:44   what do you think she said oh how [TS]

00:38:50   closely with the choices are and i'm [TS]

00:38:52   very very clear about an hour different [TS]

00:38:54   because you have not already using [TS]

00:38:57   Empire she said Pig that bad want that [TS]

00:39:00   alternate universe ran is just as wrong [TS]

00:39:01   as this one if if it was Rockets here it [TS]

00:39:04   was Rocketeer an empire strikes back i [TS]

00:39:06   could get that but i think i'll go with [TS]

00:39:10   Empire also i'm pretty sure where you're [TS]

00:39:13   going with Empire yeah I'm with my dudes [TS]

00:39:18   this is a cruel cruel decision you know [TS]

00:39:21   as much as I love Raiders and I do love [TS]

00:39:25   it dearly i think my first my my heart [TS]

00:39:28   will have to go to the empire strikes [TS]

00:39:30   back because on solo growing up was [TS]

00:39:33   always more by Harrison Ford then nnd so [TS]

00:39:38   if you had to pick one Harrison Ford it [TS]

00:39:39   would be hard soul / indie it would be [TS]

00:39:41   Han Solo yes I mean he has the ship ship [TS]

00:39:46   beats the hat shipped with the hat and [TS]

00:39:49   no snakes correct two points to be old [TS]

00:39:52   to choose Empire alrighty young team [TS]

00:39:55   Tony sindelar was asked watch men or the [TS]

00:40:00   dark knight returns own i would assume [TS]

00:40:04   the dark knight returns but i don't it [TS]

00:40:06   is he loves he loves Batman he loves [TS]

00:40:07   Batman a lot they're going to go in and [TS]

00:40:10   dance a good friend Tony so you think [TS]

00:40:12   you know [TS]

00:40:12   yeah I you think I nobody it's it's a [TS]

00:40:14   little tough with Riggs [TS]

00:40:16   yeah well because he also most watchman [TS]

00:40:18   but i don't have to go with his love [TS]

00:40:19   Batman the Batman is you know he holds a [TS]

00:40:23   special place in my heart the place in [TS]

00:40:24   my heart where people get pummeled a lot [TS]

00:40:26   from that sounds very big watchman is [TS]

00:40:29   just such a seminal series both in [TS]

00:40:32   comics but also kind of to me commander [TS]

00:40:34   watchman was the the collection that [TS]

00:40:36   kind of got me back into comics when i [TS]

00:40:38   started reading comics again in the [TS]

00:40:39   twenties that um I have to go with [TS]

00:40:41   watchman but i do love Batman pretty [TS]

00:40:44   much more than you know anyone should [TS]

00:40:46   love Batman and certainly more than any [TS]

00:40:48   other [TS]

00:40:48   our hero i'm gonna go with watchman yeah [TS]

00:40:51   he chose watch men so y'all can i yeah [TS]

00:40:55   what kind of friend are you know me [TS]

00:40:58   uh the brakes with any mold to mold damn [TS]

00:41:02   freaks was asked blade runner or alien [TS]

00:41:06   mm Wow [TS]

00:41:11   yeah i'm i think Dan is more of a blade [TS]

00:41:14   when I think of him as more cerebral [TS]

00:41:15   then cuts so then I don't remember Dan [TS]

00:41:18   piping in back in the day when we were [TS]

00:41:20   trying to gather interest for a horror [TS]

00:41:23   themed podcast so I'm gonna go a little [TS]

00:41:25   blade runner to head not guts if you had [TS]

00:41:30   said blade runner vs aliens with the [TS]

00:41:32   right i think the answer would be easy [TS]

00:41:36   I you know those are both clearly sci-fi [TS]

00:41:38   action movies you know set in the future [TS]

00:41:39   and Blade Runner is clearly the better [TS]

00:41:42   movie there but ill en is it's just as [TS]

00:41:47   much a sci-fi horror and suspense movie [TS]

00:41:50   as it is an action flick and so you know [TS]

00:41:53   in a lot of ways they're a lot less [TS]

00:41:54   comfortable than if you said aliens [TS]

00:41:56   that's the name of our children [TS]

00:41:57   incomparable yeah i know the blade the [TS]

00:42:00   blade runner's the critics choice you [TS]

00:42:02   know it's been far more influential and [TS]

00:42:04   I've long been a fan of watched it [TS]

00:42:06   god I don't know how many times but I'm [TS]

00:42:08   gonna go against geek movie convention [TS]

00:42:10   here and i'm going to say alien no no s [TS]

00:42:14   is a better overall movie i can hear [TS]

00:42:17   people screaming all right well you all [TS]

00:42:23   right Dan Frakes wow alright uh then [TS]

00:42:28   Boychuk team young ben boychuk was asked [TS]

00:42:31   Frank Miller or alan moore everyone [TS]

00:42:36   hates Frank Miller's got to be a lot [TS]

00:42:37   more [TS]

00:42:38   ya gotta wait on this is ben allen more [TS]

00:42:41   and though so that's the little the [TS]

00:42:44   tourney hates everything is a quality [TS]

00:42:45   pic yeah Frank Miller's office but you [TS]

00:42:48   gotta look at the whole body of work [TS]

00:42:50   when you're asking that question you [TS]

00:42:52   asked the question but you know is it [TS]

00:42:54   where we just evaluating watchman vs [TS]

00:42:56   dark knight returns here or [TS]

00:42:58   Batman year one no I mean we gotta look [TS]

00:43:02   at the whole thing and so I'm gonna [TS]

00:43:05   surprise you a little bit and go with [TS]

00:43:06   alan moore and the reason is not just [TS]

00:43:09   watchman but the the series that i [TS]

00:43:13   really fell in love with that alan moore [TS]

00:43:16   road was swamp thing I just love that [TS]

00:43:19   one for a while [TS]

00:43:21   wow we do the double watch them film [TS]

00:43:24   didn't already own that deeply points14 [TS]

00:43:26   young team old serenity Caldwell was [TS]

00:43:31   asked to name her favorite book ever [TS]

00:43:35   oh my god it's not an either/or xin de [TS]

00:43:41   no no we're moving on to round 2 which [TS]

00:43:43   is where they have to pick things you [TS]

00:43:44   have to guess what they pick she [TS]

00:43:46   actually named three different books at [TS]

00:43:48   various points her choices so obscure [TS]

00:43:51   that I'm going to let you if you name [TS]

00:43:53   any of the three you get points for that [TS]

00:43:55   shot in the dark [TS]

00:43:58   wow I'm trying to think of what she is [TS]

00:44:00   mentioned diana wynne jones maybe one of [TS]

00:44:04   those uh I think if it weren't for the [TS]

00:44:07   author I'd have to go with ender's game [TS]

00:44:10   but unfortunately orson scott card does [TS]

00:44:14   doc a few points from that book I so i [TS]

00:44:17   will have to go with a little book that [TS]

00:44:20   was one of diana wynne jones is first in [TS]

00:44:22   her career called dogsbody oh I should [TS]

00:44:25   have done I'm gonna stop you right there [TS]

00:44:27   diana wynne jones one of her books was [TS]

00:44:29   indeed what she chose and you know what [TS]

00:44:31   you're going to get a point for that [TS]

00:44:31   you're not going to get me close to the [TS]

00:44:33   mat so we're just gonna move on three [TS]

00:44:35   with three books good job what about the [TS]

00:44:37   cats what about the cat that dog's body [TS]

00:44:40   by diana wynne jones was her choice she [TS]

00:44:42   also mentions even she also mentioned [TS]

00:44:44   and Julian said she couldn't take it [TS]

00:44:45   because we discuss you listen to the [TS]

00:44:47   social media and fahrenheit 451 shields [TS]

00:44:49   haha that was one of these the few [TS]

00:44:52   episodes that i was in fact he was on [TS]

00:44:54   that one yeah that's why he listened and [TS]

00:44:57   listened to when he's on last year's [TS]

00:44:59   April Fool's episode team young tony was [TS]

00:45:05   asked to name his favorite movie ever [TS]

00:45:09   what did he choose all you damn sure [TS]

00:45:12   pressures on God's Son favorite movie [TS]

00:45:17   ever really does like Christopher Nolan [TS]

00:45:21   reason why but i'm not over the back met [TS]

00:45:25   Batman gambit again [TS]

00:45:27   yeah I that I clearly that paid off so [TS]

00:45:29   well last time a wrap [TS]

00:45:33   um making going to be like North by [TS]

00:45:39   Northwest or something i would you pick [TS]

00:45:41   like it is but it's it's probably do [TS]

00:45:46   that or one of the you know like a Star [TS]

00:45:48   Wars movie or something the way he's not [TS]

00:45:49   as being on those I think um but [TS]

00:45:52   favorite movie of all time I'm gonna I'm [TS]

00:45:55   gonna curse myself and I don't remember [TS]

00:45:56   I guess I'm i guess i'm not getting a [TS]

00:45:59   birthday present this year you get some [TS]

00:46:02   movies anyone else would help no okay [TS]

00:46:04   just me I a batman begins I mean you [TS]

00:46:07   said it's a big Batman guy and loves [TS]

00:46:09   kristal Melanie you know which one of [TS]

00:46:10   the road yeah i don't i don't think that [TS]

00:46:13   I mean I don't think that's likely but i [TS]

00:46:14   did you know maybe the best guess then I [TS]

00:46:16   wake up with your message though I mean [TS]

00:46:19   like Christopher Nolan yeah I said [TS]

00:46:20   momento en was your answer is they're [TS]

00:46:23   gonna get Batman Begins you say it is a [TS]

00:46:26   a movie that is in fact already been [TS]

00:46:28   mentioned on this podcast so far which [TS]

00:46:30   would be the empire strikes back which [TS]

00:46:33   you know you can get into a long [TS]

00:46:34   argument about whether empire strikes [TS]

00:46:37   back for Star Wars is better [TS]

00:46:38   maybe you know watch what shot at you [TS]

00:46:41   know asked a damn orange on Syracuse's [TS]

00:46:43   about that if you want to kill a couple [TS]

00:46:45   hours [TS]

00:46:46   oh but I I'm gonna go with that is as [TS]

00:46:48   one of my favorite movies that I've seen [TS]

00:46:49   many many times and never get tired of [TS]

00:46:52   seeing i will mention having recently [TS]

00:46:54   listened to the incomparable movie draft [TS]

00:46:56   several movies that i very much like [TS]

00:46:58   that didn't get mentioned in the [TS]

00:46:59   incomparable movie draft since you can [TS]

00:47:01   go and listen to a lot of about the [TS]

00:47:03   empire strikes back on the incomparable [TS]

00:47:04   but three other movies that I like a lot [TS]

00:47:07   that didn't get mentioned city of god [TS]

00:47:09   the procedure and the blues brothers are [TS]

00:47:12   all are three movies that i also like [TS]

00:47:14   all great deal but probably are not [TS]

00:47:16   quite at the pinnacle of favorite movie [TS]

00:47:20   alternate universe Tony easy with you [TS]

00:47:23   see I don't even know him anymore he did [TS]

00:47:25   mention the prestige as one of his [TS]

00:47:27   deputies another one you like I'm i'll [TS]

00:47:31   have time to mention that was earlier [TS]

00:47:33   yes Tiana's christmas and i don't mean [TS]

00:47:37   young is eating their young now 70 mold [TS]

00:47:40   damn freaks was asked to name his [TS]

00:47:42   favorite TV show ever [TS]

00:47:43   Oh what do you think he said Adams [TS]

00:47:47   family sorry this joke [TS]

00:47:54   favorite TV show ever 3-2 series you [TS]

00:47:57   said yes [TS]

00:47:58   Rockford Files have any of us ever met [TS]

00:48:01   Dan friends them I know down a bit but I [TS]

00:48:03   don't know is a word that have come up [TS]

00:48:06   it's not supernatural I know that [TS]

00:48:08   yeah that would begin to notice that the [TS]

00:48:11   different us is it long as it lost was [TS]

00:48:13   he big lost family member i think we're [TS]

00:48:16   doing now is were playing the randoms [TS]

00:48:18   things that might associate with his [TS]

00:48:19   name things [TS]

00:48:20   well clearly with start was the rich [TS]

00:48:22   Star Trek next generation because of the [TS]

00:48:23   names and it Babylon 5 edition right [TS]

00:48:25   yeah five edition started avalon five [TS]

00:48:28   the just take the dynasty take a guess I [TS]

00:48:31   was a lot less they lost lost it Kenny [TS]

00:48:35   young stainless steel [TS]

00:48:36   yeah II you can see you can say i don't [TS]

00:48:39   know whether oil award-winning points [TS]

00:48:41   what do you think John I don't think but [TS]

00:48:44   dan thanks for tonight had a list of [TS]

00:48:45   like 10 shows i went through and them [TS]

00:48:47   one by one in the end the one that I [TS]

00:48:50   think I enjoyed the most while I was [TS]

00:48:52   watching and look forward to every week [TS]

00:48:54   was the west wing and the west wing of [TS]

00:48:57   course my my background education is in [TS]

00:49:00   public policy so I'm sure that played a [TS]

00:49:01   role there but it had a phenomenal cast [TS]

00:49:04   at great characters and some of the best [TS]

00:49:07   dialogue of any show ever and it took [TS]

00:49:09   something that you thought people would [TS]

00:49:12   really be interested enough to sit down [TS]

00:49:13   every weekend watch the inside baseball [TS]

00:49:16   of Washington politics and and made it [TS]

00:49:18   popular and sometimes even even [TS]

00:49:20   educational I mean the writers completed [TS]

00:49:22   artistic license but the show it showed [TS]

00:49:26   viewers you know quite a bit about the [TS]

00:49:27   way Washington actually works [TS]

00:49:29   I don't know [TS]

00:49:30   oh I've met Josh Malina do I get points [TS]

00:49:34   for losers going to dominate points for [TS]

00:49:39   landing [TS]

00:49:40   yeah yeah I was minus one right there [TS]

00:49:42   for winning oh no it's just hurts like [TS]

00:49:46   told me and Tim young this is this is [TS]

00:49:49   your last question then boy check was [TS]

00:49:51   asked if you could erase one work of [TS]

00:49:54   fiction from existence forever [TS]

00:49:57   what would it be like this [TS]

00:50:00   this includes across all anymore you [TS]

00:50:02   can't you can't get rid of all the [TS]

00:50:04   prequels that know as if you have to get [TS]

00:50:08   rid of one of those that have to be [TS]

00:50:10   Phantom Menace write it and I think I [TS]

00:50:13   don't know stuff and but Michigan pics [TS]

00:50:17   he's not gonna pick that if he has to [TS]

00:50:19   pick one thing about how about the [TS]

00:50:22   george clooney vehicle Batman and Robin [TS]

00:50:24   I that that just continue with our [TS]

00:50:29   Batman be having all of which is good [TS]

00:50:34   and being wrong about Batman [TS]

00:50:35   yeah alright let's just go with that now [TS]

00:50:38   there we go we're sticking to it i'll [TS]

00:50:40   get bigger [TS]

00:50:41   yeah Batman Robin yeah Mr Freeze is gone [TS]

00:50:44   you know this is such an easy question I [TS]

00:50:47   thought you were gonna ask me we have [TS]

00:50:49   which one of my children I love now I I [TS]

00:50:54   understand why you might ask that [TS]

00:50:57   question because you know I i am on [TS]

00:51:00   record saying that the Phantom n Menace [TS]

00:51:04   threw me into a funk and a deep dark [TS]

00:51:07   depression for at least a week and so I [TS]

00:51:10   could very easily do a kind of pale [TS]

00:51:13   imitation of you know that that was a [TS]

00:51:16   Patton Oswalt routine where he talks [TS]

00:51:18   about going back in time and and and [TS]

00:51:20   beating you know George Lucas to death [TS]

00:51:23   with a shovel [TS]

00:51:23   I could do that but then this would be [TS]

00:51:26   over in a minute in half and and that [TS]

00:51:29   wouldn't be interesting or entertaining [TS]

00:51:30   at all or incomparable like or [TS]

00:51:33   incompetent no I could I mean it and and [TS]

00:51:37   you know any work of fiction at all i [TS]

00:51:39   have [TS]

00:51:41   thousands of years with which to work [TS]

00:51:45   right but but no I'm going to I'm going [TS]

00:51:50   to do I'm going to go with the [TS]

00:51:51   sentimental choice and this is an [TS]

00:51:54   example of how there's there can be no [TS]

00:51:56   arguing with matters of taste and the [TS]

00:51:59   work of fiction that I would eliminate [TS]

00:52:01   is Tank Girl the film the film for the [TS]

00:52:06   simple reason that I thought lori petty [TS]

00:52:09   deserved better career and that movie [TS]

00:52:12   just that movie just killed it for and I [TS]

00:52:16   liked her a lot and that movie after [TS]

00:52:18   that she was doing bit parts and it was [TS]

00:52:20   just it was just a crying shame really [TS]

00:52:23   wow girls nice of them [TS]

00:52:28   that sounds that was my second guess you [TS]

00:52:31   have to take he did it for me that you [TS]

00:52:32   doing it you would have gotten points4 [TS]

00:52:34   Phantom Menace but no but he did it for [TS]

00:52:37   her that's sort of selfless it is it had [TS]

00:52:39   we should get a point for that now [TS]

00:52:41   now i'm gonna close up the parallel [TS]

00:52:42   universe podcast but that the bat you [TS]

00:52:45   all I demand a recount and it awarded [TS]

00:52:49   and my my alternate universe counterpart [TS]

00:52:52   Nathan l will be closing our alternate [TS]

00:52:56   universe counterpart and I think with [TS]

00:52:59   the quality prime comparable universe [TS]

00:53:01   and that will be how will they know you [TS]

00:53:03   and I get the not that well at all and [TS]

00:53:08   we're gonna move on to Round seven team [TS]

00:53:11   young leading by one point entirely [TS]

00:53:13   because Glenn dropped one of his clan [TS]

00:53:15   references time I don't know Glenn can [TS]

00:53:17   we have that point because Glenn will [TS]

00:53:20   point out that he actually has met your [TS]

00:53:22   mailman so it so we'll work it all turns [TS]

00:53:25   back around seven is something I like to [TS]

00:53:28   call i am a star trek android I've asked [TS]

00:53:31   each of you to prepare a an analogical [TS]

00:53:33   statement that will make my head explode [TS]

00:53:35   Allah the statements that Captain Kirk [TS]

00:53:38   would make two androids who were poorly [TS]

00:53:39   designed on the original Star Trek who [TS]

00:53:42   would like to try and make my android [TS]

00:53:44   head explode [TS]

00:53:45   I I got shot alright alright [TS]

00:53:49   android Jason yes dad [TS]

00:53:52   the only way for me to win this fight is [TS]

00:53:56   to kill every single life-form in [TS]

00:53:58   existence but if you know every [TS]

00:54:03   life-form you are a life form you will [TS]

00:54:05   kill yourself and then you will be dead [TS]

00:54:07   how could you win that is illogical [TS]

00:54:09   illogical li my god his head is smoking [TS]

00:54:12   lookout point for Dan who else would [TS]

00:54:16   like to confuse I'd like to try all [TS]

00:54:19   right [TS]

00:54:19   yes granny way to win the the only way [TS]

00:54:22   to win is not to play I have to see that [TS]

00:54:26   movie it was excellent i especially like [TS]

00:54:30   the whopper [TS]

00:54:31   no points all skin is just an excuse for [TS]

00:54:34   that voice who I didn't you pull out [TS]

00:54:39   that quality robot voice when it was [TS]

00:54:41   your time to do your phantom menace like [TS]

00:54:43   well we'll see ya at phantom my dad my [TS]

00:54:47   Empire yet not phantom and a salad [TS]

00:54:50   well we haven't done the transition [TS]

00:54:51   manager yet empires robot cowboy coming [TS]

00:54:55   through yeah alright coming through got [TS]

00:54:57   to get that cardboard or anybody else [TS]

00:54:59   got a logical fallacy for me i'll go [TS]

00:55:03   alright go you go ahead to take your [TS]

00:55:05   pictures and steep [TS]

00:55:08   alright i feel i ran a little long in [TS]

00:55:11   the last segment so I'll make this short [TS]

00:55:14   first I would I would sit you down and [TS]

00:55:16   show you star trek five and its entirety [TS]

00:55:18   and then I would tell you they made a [TS]

00:55:22   Star Trek 60 i love it i am kind of [TS]

00:55:28   robot cowboy coming through here i love [TS]

00:55:30   that movie that was a great movie star [TS]

00:55:32   trek five and had that ship in the guy [TS]

00:55:34   that other guy with a pointy is a no-go [TS]

00:55:36   I want to see more i'm glad they made a [TS]

00:55:38   617 these robot cowboys and their [TS]

00:55:41   impeccable logic alright i learned out [TS]

00:55:45   on the Prairie when you may go ahead now [TS]

00:55:47   alright android Jason all android phones [TS]

00:55:51   are free people like free things if you [TS]

00:55:53   give some of the phone they make calls [TS]

00:55:55   if you teach in the program apps are set [TS]

00:55:57   for life [TS]

00:55:58   android tablets are not android phones [TS]

00:55:59   people will buy android tablets I your [TS]

00:56:06   statement valuables me error error error [TS]

00:56:08   error error error or sectarian 1002 [TS]

00:56:13   window we had to do with spout nonsense [TS]

00:56:15   at that and high-volume aight i was [TS]

00:56:17   legitimately baffled there and my [TS]

00:56:19   favorite is I thought I followed and [TS]

00:56:21   austin honor your baffled that's ya see [TS]

00:56:25   your battle this one over yes plan that [TS]

00:56:28   very kiss you just get bonus points for [TS]

00:56:30   causing all of our heads to smoke [TS]

00:56:31   yes perhaps uh everyone's gone John do [TS]

00:56:35   you have a logical fallacy for me [TS]

00:56:37   yeah i'm going i really really wanted to [TS]

00:56:39   go with what I got in my pocket but I [TS]

00:56:41   figured you happen to like so uh huh i'm [TS]

00:56:45   gonna skip that and go with the other [TS]

00:56:46   one that I have which is considerably [TS]

00:56:47   more lame but more tuned perhaps to a to [TS]

00:56:50   the spirit of this contest that being [TS]

00:56:53   you sleep [TS]

00:56:54   yeah that had this beard being like a 20 [TS]

00:56:56   or false true or false computer things [TS]

00:56:59   are more like they are now than they've [TS]

00:57:00   ever been [TS]

00:57:01   say that again please [TS]

00:57:07   got your drink their presentation i [TS]

00:57:09   think it means I win does it not [TS]

00:57:11   things are false thing more like they [TS]

00:57:13   are now than they've ever been this is [TS]

00:57:16   true that is a logical statement not [TS]

00:57:18   illogical at all but in fact perfectly [TS]

00:57:20   logical you are one [TS]

00:57:21   not us you two are an Android i have my [TS]

00:57:25   foot i think if you think about that [TS]

00:57:28   enough to realize it's not a tautology [TS]

00:57:30   who do you know any of my buddy [TS]

00:57:34   Bullwinkle ok seems like you did get [TS]

00:57:38   longman Scott Mykelti I am so overworked [TS]

00:57:41   Android but I well I have perhaps the [TS]

00:57:45   lamest one of the haha excellent when [TS]

00:57:48   our it's it's more of an odd piece [TS]

00:57:50   though you're a real genius is that your [TS]

00:57:53   statement with no real genius is neither [TS]

00:57:56   real nor genius that's all I so I too [TS]

00:58:01   saw that movie although i found it did [TS]

00:58:03   not have the emotional depth of war [TS]

00:58:05   games [TS]

00:58:05   I i find that the character played by [TS]

00:58:09   the killer is indeed a genius and [TS]

00:58:10   therefore your statement is incorrect [TS]

00:58:13   you're just making the android mad yeah [TS]

00:58:15   don't enter the android ok wouldn't like [TS]

00:58:19   him when he's saying that was the end of [TS]

00:58:20   this time mr. trick android we're gonna [TS]

00:58:22   like too much anyway p equals NP i just [TS]

00:58:26   go Greg you're free should use that in [TS]

00:58:28   the in the thing right [TS]

00:58:31   well that would have required me to [TS]

00:58:32   prepare that we're moving on to round [TS]

00:58:33   eight round eight is called you are [TS]

00:58:37   George Lucas and all i'm not i'm out [TS]

00:58:40   sound effect that was all killing [TS]

00:58:41   ourselves and our way you can just roll [TS]

00:58:43   around on your money instead give me one [TS]

00:58:46   example of a classic work you would fix [TS]

00:58:49   to make it in your opinion better you [TS]

00:58:52   get a chance to take a classic work [TS]

00:58:54   money is no object perhaps time and [TS]

00:58:55   space or no object something that you [TS]

00:58:57   would actually fix to make it better ah [TS]

00:59:00   George Lucas let's start with team old [TS]

00:59:03   you just as you are going to you each [TS]

00:59:06   have one but I each have one yes yes [TS]

00:59:10   okay ladies has just this morning I we [TS]

00:59:14   watched Phantom Menace for the first [TS]

00:59:15   time since I saw it in theaters and i [TS]

00:59:17   watch The Phantom edit just to see if it [TS]

00:59:18   was any better than I remembered and it [TS]

00:59:20   absolutely was not and so the change I [TS]

00:59:22   would make would be to remove it [TS]

00:59:24   entirely from history to erase it [TS]

00:59:26   completely like been rejected with tank [TS]

00:59:30   girl [TS]

00:59:31   yes only it would make these are people [TS]

00:59:35   doing the job and for anything more pain [TS]

00:59:37   right that simply just removed entirely [TS]

00:59:40   so basically the opening credits and any [TS]

00:59:42   credits and then that format the hard [TS]

00:59:44   drive it was built on all right okay [TS]

00:59:47   that simple [TS]

00:59:48   Steve I'll Jason you and I both know [TS]

00:59:52   that if I were George Lucas I'd be [TS]

00:59:53   spending every waking hour trying to [TS]

00:59:55   convince Spielberg that Raiders would be [TS]

00:59:56   better if it had a gigantic cgi camel [TS]

00:59:56   better if it had a gigantic cgi camel [TS]

01:00:00   locks in his hind legs and talks with an [TS]

01:00:01   indian accent but you know let's go for [TS]

01:00:06   that sentence since this is in the real [TS]

01:00:08   world and i'm not in fact George Lucas [TS]

01:00:10   I'm going to say that i would i would [TS]

01:00:14   take lost the TV series Lost which you [TS]

01:00:17   know maybe it's a bit of a stretch to [TS]

01:00:18   call it a classic at this point but I [TS]

01:00:20   think it'll be there so is yeah I and I [TS]

01:00:23   would fix the pacing lost was it was a [TS]

01:00:26   great show but a lot of people were [TS]

01:00:29   disappointed in the way it ended and for [TS]

01:00:31   me the final season felt like it was [TS]

01:00:33   horribly rushed like like the showrunner [TS]

01:00:36   suddenly realize you know we have 600 [TS]

01:00:38   loose ends to tie up and only 10 [TS]

01:00:39   episodes left to do it so its boom [TS]

01:00:42   revelation boom revelation and the whole [TS]

01:00:46   Jacob versus the man in black thing just [TS]

01:00:47   kind of comes out of nowhere [TS]

01:00:49   maybe it was really in Damon Lindelof [TS]

01:00:51   said the whole way through the series [TS]

01:00:52   but it sure didn't feel like so i would [TS]

01:00:56   go back and adjust mostly season six [TS]

01:00:58   stretch it out a bit maybe move a few of [TS]

01:01:00   the less important revelations back [TS]

01:01:01   season or two so they are crammed [TS]

01:01:03   together and then make it all fit i [TS]

01:01:05   probably hack out greats waves of season [TS]

01:01:07   2 which dragged badly for me and in [TS]

01:01:11   retrospect was almost entirely [TS]

01:01:12   unnecessary and then go back and pepper [TS]

01:01:14   a few signposts around the early seasons [TS]

01:01:16   that point to the jacob man in black [TS]

01:01:18   dynamic and if i had ultimate power I [TS]

01:01:21   keep mr. Eko alive and working into the [TS]

01:01:23   rest of the series because he's a far [TS]

01:01:25   more interesting character to me than [TS]

01:01:27   most of the primary cast so basically [TS]

01:01:29   you do a what an author would call a [TS]

01:01:31   second draft of loss which the TV [TS]

01:01:33   producers to get a chance to do because [TS]

01:01:34   they wrangle right through excellent [TS]

01:01:38   you're giving me that chance because I [TS]

01:01:39   multi billionaire george lewis George [TS]

01:01:41   Lucas I can do whatever I want them it's [TS]

01:01:43   lost to point out excellent that's great [TS]

01:01:45   plan [TS]

01:01:47   well i was going to be better government [TS]

01:01:51   film by the way 9i thought about all of [TS]

01:01:55   the be no I thought about all the great [TS]

01:01:58   science-fiction movies are looked at [TS]

01:02:00   what was wrong with many of them there's [TS]

01:02:03   so many that are so good and don't have [TS]

01:02:04   it is you know a single flaws and I like [TS]

01:02:06   and I realize there is a movie that I [TS]

01:02:08   quite like people hated do [TS]

01:02:10   but the reason I liked it was for the [TS]

01:02:12   parts that work and not the parts that [TS]

01:02:14   which was quite a bit of it and so I [TS]

01:02:16   have an idea that you could redo the [TS]

01:02:18   film and recast a couple rolls like bad [TS]

01:02:21   Dory for hated and Dean Stockwell I [TS]

01:02:23   usually love but i thought was terrible [TS]

01:02:24   in a key role get a few new actors I [TS]

01:02:27   mean you know look comic laughlin I [TS]

01:02:29   think rocks [TS]

01:02:30   why did I liked him and I also like to [TS]

01:02:32   course Patrick Stewart you know there's [TS]

01:02:34   some great people in it but of course [TS]

01:02:36   you have to pull all the ridiculous [TS]

01:02:37   internal monologue monologue voiceover [TS]

01:02:39   in which the characters are voicing [TS]

01:02:41   their thoughts as if you need to when in [TS]

01:02:43   fact you can just watch the acting is [TS]

01:02:45   the acting portrays it so much quieter [TS]

01:02:47   film with better reveals and a little [TS]

01:02:49   less talking unless those actors talk [TS]

01:02:51   the better and let the story that the [TS]

01:02:54   large sweep of the story and the [TS]

01:02:56   sandworms and some really terrific [TS]

01:02:57   visuals carry the movie instead of [TS]

01:03:00   trying to make it a science-fiction [TS]

01:03:03   Lynch film and he didn't even like the [TS]

01:03:04   way can either [TS]

01:03:05   alright that's a good answer client [TS]

01:03:08   alright team young how about you Dan [TS]

01:03:11   more'n one yeah so yeah again a as with [TS]

01:03:16   lost i don't know if this is this more [TS]

01:03:17   of a recent classic but i would take the [TS]

01:03:19   TV series Battlestar Galactica the [TS]

01:03:21   recent one which I thought started out [TS]

01:03:24   well enough there's a great sort of mini [TS]

01:03:26   series with this sort of apocalyptic end [TS]

01:03:30   to this civilization and that's being [TS]

01:03:32   encroached upon by this artificial life [TS]

01:03:35   form of their own creation and that's [TS]

01:03:37   sort of a classic man versus machine [TS]

01:03:38   take and humans are on the run and [TS]

01:03:40   they're running out of resources and [TS]

01:03:42   they've got to figure out how to get to [TS]

01:03:43   this sort of lost colony and a great [TS]

01:03:46   premise but the show kind of lost its [TS]

01:03:49   way I think really starting in the [TS]

01:03:51   second season started getting distracted [TS]

01:03:53   lots of filler episodes that would cut [TS]

01:03:54   out a bunch of the filler episodes i [TS]

01:03:56   would really trim it down into maybe a [TS]

01:03:58   couple seasons i loved the occupation [TS]

01:04:01   arc that they that they do where they [TS]

01:04:04   sort of have a parable to the at the [TS]

01:04:06   time the war in iraq was very [TS]

01:04:07   interesting and disorder what science [TS]

01:04:09   fiction does best about making us [TS]

01:04:10   reconsider our own current environment [TS]

01:04:12   through a different lens and i would get [TS]

01:04:14   rid of sort of the hippie-dippie stuff [TS]

01:04:16   in the later episodes in the religion it [TS]

01:04:17   just got a little crazy [TS]

01:04:19   they started throwing key characters [TS]

01:04:21   around making decisions that didn't make [TS]

01:04:22   any sense there were some real [TS]

01:04:24   bizarre episodes that seemed off the [TS]

01:04:26   wall and the ending really just sucked [TS]

01:04:29   so travel a lot of that make a nice lean [TS]

01:04:33   ship running for a couple seasons would [TS]

01:04:35   have been fantastic alright excellent [TS]

01:04:37   full credit for that [TS]

01:04:39   Scott what do you think is since i'm [TS]

01:04:41   george lucas a I cannot resist meddling [TS]

01:04:47   tamper improving star wars one more time [TS]

01:04:51   because you know the kids today they [TS]

01:04:53   like to start work but they don't like [TS]

01:04:54   it they can't connect to these these [TS]

01:04:56   actors they don't know who the actors [TS]

01:04:57   are and I have all these digital experts [TS]

01:05:00   who can just replace these actors and so [TS]

01:05:03   Princess Leia january jones kids they [TS]

01:05:07   love january jones Luke Skywalker is now [TS]

01:05:11   Channing Tatum because he's hot today [TS]

01:05:13   the kids they like him [TS]

01:05:15   uh Han Solo and how did you actually get [TS]

01:05:17   George Lucas on this possible hard solo [TS]

01:05:20   I think a guy pearce will do a good one [TS]

01:05:23   so obi-wan Kenobi sir ian mckellen [TS]

01:05:25   perfect c-3po another British actor who [TS]

01:05:28   I enjoy kenneth branagh his little his [TS]

01:05:31   sassy sidekick r2d2 when you say sassy [TS]

01:05:34   sidekick you think Eddie Murphy and I [TS]

01:05:37   oddly enough Darth Vader mark hamill [TS]

01:05:40   because he is great with the the voices [TS]

01:05:43   wow that you get a bonus point in [TS]

01:05:46   addition to full credit that's got that [TS]

01:05:48   was spectacular [TS]

01:05:49   i think i did an early defend the [TS]

01:05:50   indefensible and does the r2d2 Eddie [TS]

01:05:53   Murphy the the kid-friendly Eddie Murphy [TS]

01:05:56   or the big shredded brown shark came [TS]

01:05:59   eddie murphy i think it was like Gary [TS]

01:06:01   Coleman but for that you could fit in [TS]

01:06:04   there so there's anything smaller all [TS]

01:06:06   the time to what you talking about your [TS]

01:06:09   video get so well but George Lucas [TS]

01:06:11   doesn't have the power to raise the dead [TS]

01:06:12   every college me if you can just you [TS]

01:06:14   know it's all be there by yeah I don't [TS]

01:06:18   like you say it's your turn to be George [TS]

01:06:20   Lucas I know you've waited for this day [TS]

01:06:21   so I'm glad that I'm not the only one [TS]

01:06:24   who took this assignment the same with [TS]

01:06:26   Scott did i'll let you be the judge hair [TS]

01:06:28   up the movie that if I was George Lucas [TS]

01:06:30   that I would fix would be the Godfather [TS]

01:06:33   which is almost perfect but just [TS]

01:06:36   it's not quite not quite seems like it [TS]

01:06:37   just a few little changes could make it [TS]

01:06:39   better in particular i'm thinking about [TS]

01:06:41   the scene and pitching tent where [TS]

01:06:44   Michael goes to the get the gun that [TS]

01:06:46   Clemente hit behind the old-style water [TS]

01:06:48   closet type of toilet and he comes out [TS]

01:06:50   of the bathroom at the gun and he sits [TS]

01:06:51   down at the table and listen to slot so [TS]

01:06:53   talk for a while and then he shoots lots [TS]

01:06:55   go and mccluskey and and leaves now [TS]

01:06:59   Michael character was never supposed to [TS]

01:07:00   be like this but we had a lot of trouble [TS]

01:07:02   shooting of that scene and a lot of the [TS]

01:07:04   footage was lost was supposed to happen [TS]

01:07:05   is that he comes out of the bathroom [TS]

01:07:07   with the guns down at the table [TS]

01:07:08   McCluskey get suspicious of Michael and [TS]

01:07:11   draws his gun on them but Michael scared [TS]

01:07:12   he tries to get up and run the classic [TS]

01:07:13   shoots at him from sitting across the [TS]

01:07:15   table but he misses he misses and then [TS]

01:07:17   Michael raises gun and shoots him and so [TS]

01:07:19   that was the way that seems was supposed [TS]

01:07:21   to play out but the way it looks now [TS]

01:07:23   looks like Michaels a cold-blooded [TS]

01:07:24   killer he was never supposed to be like [TS]

01:07:25   Michael shot first [TS]

01:07:27   Wow not in fact all those guns were [TS]

01:07:28   supposed to be walkie-talkies [TS]

01:07:30   haha ok that's excellent excellent yeah [TS]

01:07:34   excellent word alright we are going to [TS]

01:07:37   move to the last round I know it seems [TS]

01:07:40   like it would never get here but it's [TS]

01:07:41   here now the young has a has a lead over [TS]

01:07:43   the old going into the last round still [TS]

01:07:45   so time for the old to step up the game [TS]

01:07:47   now this this last round is something [TS]

01:07:49   that I've stolen from other podcast that [TS]

01:07:52   do this a I i I've stolen this from a [TS]

01:07:54   podcast that stole this from yet another [TS]

01:07:56   podcast that podcast the originator of [TS]

01:07:58   this is called fighting talk on the BBC [TS]

01:08:00   it's about soccer but that's a sport for [TS]

01:08:04   you people out there who don't follow [TS]

01:08:05   the sports anyway at my college football [TS]

01:08:06   they call football they do it's called [TS]

01:08:09   defend the indefensible i am going to [TS]

01:08:11   give you each a statement that you are [TS]

01:08:14   going to have to agree with so when I [TS]

01:08:16   say I I mean you and then after i finish [TS]

01:08:19   the statement you have 30 seconds to [TS]

01:08:21   vociferously agree with what i say what [TS]

01:08:24   i say is going to be terrible and you're [TS]

01:08:26   not going to agree with it you have to [TS]

01:08:28   pretend that you agree with it that is [TS]

01:08:31   the whole point and you'll you will [TS]

01:08:32   convince me and then i will give you [TS]

01:08:34   points we are going to start with Steve [TS]

01:08:38   on cheese okay Steve here's your ready [TS]

01:08:42   position here is your statement [TS]

01:08:44   yes zombies have been overused in movies [TS]

01:08:47   from now on I will watch only movies [TS]

01:08:49   that feature LOL [TS]

01:08:50   noms or fairies well frankly zombies [TS]

01:08:53   have been overused in movies in the [TS]

01:08:54   there's only so many times you can see [TS]

01:08:56   somebody's intestine splattered all over [TS]

01:08:58   the floor in people's heads are full of [TS]

01:09:00   enough nastiness and bad thoughts [TS]

01:09:03   without having to see that kind of Filth [TS]

01:09:05   on the screen fairies and and and elves [TS]

01:09:08   and and woodland creatures [TS]

01:09:10   man that's the kind of stuff you should [TS]

01:09:12   be focusing on not not that ugliness in [TS]

01:09:14   life but the beauty pretty things and [TS]

01:09:16   the Wonder alright excellent work [TS]

01:09:20   thank you Steve alright glad i got i [TS]

01:09:23   have nothin planned here's your here's [TS]

01:09:24   your's hear me I can hear you when the [TS]

01:09:28   Germans don't know from good cinema all [TS]

01:09:31   movies made should be in English [TS]

01:09:35   yeah I pretty much agree with this [TS]

01:09:36   because you know english is the best [TS]

01:09:38   language in the world is the universal [TS]

01:09:39   language is the language of cinema and [TS]

01:09:41   you know pretty much all good movies [TS]

01:09:43   that made to date have been made in [TS]

01:09:44   English German well there's speaking [TS]

01:09:47   syllables nobody really knows what [TS]

01:09:48   they're saying its kind of made-up [TS]

01:09:49   language it makes people sound or think [TS]

01:09:51   that they're sounding smart and we all [TS]

01:09:53   know what smart people do they speak [TS]

01:09:55   English [TS]

01:09:56   alright excellent excellent and terrible [TS]

01:09:59   Oh Greg are you ready i am not only is [TS]

01:10:04   the Empire Strikes Back clearly a better [TS]

01:10:07   movies and Star Wars and so is a return [TS]

01:10:09   of the jetta not only our return of the [TS]

01:10:15   jedi and Empire Strikes Back better [TS]

01:10:17   movies in the original Star Wars so are [TS]

01:10:19   the three prequels they have a scope and [TS]

01:10:22   and add epic mess that that the original [TS]

01:10:25   Star Wars made 49 million dollars by a [TS]

01:10:28   bunch of wannabes just can't even touch [TS]

01:10:30   the the computer graphics the the number [TS]

01:10:34   of characters the the action the [TS]

01:10:37   dialogue everything about them really [TS]

01:10:39   just kind of brings it together in a way [TS]

01:10:41   that the original couldn't touch all [TS]

01:10:44   right he may need to wash now he avoided [TS]

01:10:47   the question though what are you doing [TS]

01:10:48   the parody answer and I don't like that [TS]

01:10:50   at all even to mention dependable hey it [TS]

01:10:54   would I think it was painful enough for [TS]

01:10:55   him that all right i'm gonna set myself [TS]

01:10:58   on fire [TS]

01:10:59   yeah Dan yes [TS]

01:11:03   the TV series Supernatural is awful i [TS]

01:11:07   only watch it because the boys are so [TS]

01:11:09   dreamy [TS]

01:11:10   that's the truth of what are you Jason [TS]

01:11:14   you are you are correct i couldn't put [TS]

01:11:17   it better myself frankly the plots art [TS]

01:11:19   right [TS]

01:11:20   the acting not that good but the guys [TS]

01:11:23   are just so damn handsome every time I [TS]

01:11:24   look at my heart skips a beat a little [TS]

01:11:26   bit and in fact i would take it a step [TS]

01:11:28   further than that and say that I just [TS]

01:11:30   don't even bother watching I just mute [TS]

01:11:32   it the whole time that i'm watching it [TS]

01:11:34   because that's the dialogue is crap i'm [TS]

01:11:36   not worth it not worth watching for that [TS]

01:11:38   I just I just leave running in the [TS]

01:11:40   background so I basically have something [TS]

01:11:42   to look at all day [TS]

01:11:43   alright excellent excellent work John [TS]

01:11:47   siracusa I think real genius is great [TS]

01:11:50   that was just that's all I have to [TS]

01:11:54   that's all I have to defend oh yeah real [TS]

01:11:58   genius is obviously great i mean if you [TS]

01:12:00   if you think of the eighties of what it [TS]

01:12:02   was like to be in the eighties and [TS]

01:12:04   capsulate that into a movie that speaks [TS]

01:12:06   to nerds you get real genius all the [TS]

01:12:08   things that a strange and and wacky and [TS]

01:12:10   these parties they go to the don't make [TS]

01:12:11   any sense in these weird relationships [TS]

01:12:13   and how everyone is too old [TS]

01:12:14   that's what the eighties was like I and [TS]

01:12:17   this movie exactly captures that spirit [TS]

01:12:19   more so than these movies like 16 [TS]

01:12:22   candles lit a John Hughes films or [TS]

01:12:24   whatever to speak to a certain segment [TS]

01:12:25   of the population of the people in this [TS]

01:12:26   podcast probably we're not members of [TS]

01:12:28   with exception possibly of the breakfast [TS]

01:12:29   club we didn't get to be the hero you [TS]

01:12:31   know [TS]

01:12:32   alright that's not Molly Ringwald great [TS]

01:12:34   the real genius has its speaking to us i [TS]

01:12:36   can't i can't believe that you lectured [TS]

01:12:38   Greg for not giving your parody answer [TS]

01:12:40   everything that's not old in the eighth [TS]

01:12:42   note on the movies and movie that that [TS]

01:12:45   was an honest I was not defending the [TS]

01:12:47   indefensible that's money honestly think [TS]

01:12:48   about the good things about real genius [TS]

01:12:50   alright and I think of myself as molly [TS]

01:12:53   ringwald so really excellent and we kind [TS]

01:12:56   of all duscan we left Scott for last [TS]

01:12:57   your duck Scott Scott mhm Star Wars [TS]

01:13:01   rules start directory that well clearly [TS]

01:13:05   I mean you don't even need to say that [TS]

01:13:06   that's patently true you the Ark of the [TS]

01:13:09   hero story Joseph Campbell George Lucas [TS]

01:13:12   adapted into the saga of Luke Skywalker [TS]

01:13:15   finding out his real power [TS]

01:13:17   and parentage saving the universe star [TS]

01:13:19   trek with a star trek it's a couple of [TS]

01:13:21   idiots on a boat basically in space with [TS]

01:13:24   some bad scenery and hokey dialogue and [TS]

01:13:29   crappy special things really start Trek [TS]

01:13:32   fan excellently convinced me [TS]

01:13:35   excellent work well that was that was [TS]

01:13:38   delightful we all every episode of this [TS]

01:13:41   podcast should be making you say [TS]

01:13:42   horrible thing that that was our last [TS]

01:13:45   round and i have to say that in a very [TS]

01:13:47   close close battle i'm going to give it [TS]

01:13:51   30 to 31 to team young betray are [TS]

01:13:56   betraying your age stabbed me in the [TS]

01:14:00   back [TS]
