309: Boats in Space

00:00:03   the incomparable number 309 july 2016 [TS]

00:00:12   welcome back everybody to the [TS]

00:00:14   uncomfortable it's time for one of our [TS]

00:00:15   ill-conceived and ridiculous draft [TS]

00:00:18   episodes l conceived not by my panelists [TS]

00:00:21   who i'm sure has been a lot of time [TS]

00:00:22   thinking about this but certainly by me [TS]

00:00:24   i will be just as inconsistent and [TS]

00:00:27   arbitrary as always as the judge of who [TS]

00:00:30   is able to draft what what we're [TS]

00:00:33   drafting in this episode spaceships [TS]

00:00:35   that's it that's all that I've told our [TS]

00:00:36   panelists were drafting spaceships to [TS]

00:00:38   assume i guess we would assume to to [TS]

00:00:41   build a fleet an armada uh collection [TS]

00:00:44   I don't even know what the outcome of [TS]

00:00:46   this is other than to get all the best [TS]

00:00:47   spaceships for themselves [TS]

00:00:49   join me to draft spaceships are the [TS]

00:00:53   following people Joe rosenstiel hello [TS]

00:00:56   hello John siracusa hi [TS]

00:00:58   this can only end badly Jason why I [TS]

00:01:00   weights start not certain that hot [TS]

00:01:02   actually so we'll see how bad it gets [TS]

00:01:05   from here also scott multi-class got for [TS]

00:01:09   my first pick i take Jefferson Starship [TS]

00:01:11   all of them there's many questions about [TS]

00:01:13   whether you take can take Jefferson [TS]

00:01:14   Starship also the band starship which is [TS]

00:01:16   an evolution Jefferson story about the [TS]

00:01:17   same starship I don't know when we may [TS]

00:01:19   find out tonight [TS]

00:01:21   also I don't think there's a dance [TS]

00:01:22   called the starship thank goodness [TS]

00:01:25   not yet with with the fourth pic you [TS]

00:01:26   just heard her [TS]

00:01:28   Erica and sign is here hello spaceship [TS]

00:01:30   spaceship spaceship spaceship to you too [TS]

00:01:33   Monty Ashley I Monty hi Jason and chips [TS]

00:01:36   on earth you're gonna take all of mine i [TS]

00:01:38   know it it's probably the case that's [TS]

00:01:40   how drafts work and brian hamilton I've [TS]

00:01:43   got one job in the spaceship [TS]

00:01:44   it's a dumb job i'm gonna do oh you win [TS]

00:01:47   the quote ground and the order in which [TS]

00:01:49   i introduced our panelist is in fact the [TS]

00:01:52   order in which we will draft Joe [TS]

00:01:54   rosenstiel you yourself got the first [TS]

00:01:58   pick in the draft so tell us what [TS]

00:02:01   spaceship would you like to draft and [TS]

00:02:04   why did you choose that spaceship well i [TS]

00:02:06   think that one of the things that's [TS]

00:02:08   probably going to come up at least as we [TS]

00:02:10   continue on past myself it will be a [TS]

00:02:12   star trek and the some of the ships that [TS]

00:02:14   are there and [TS]

00:02:15   there are a number of ships that have [TS]

00:02:16   been that the feature of many Star Trek [TS]

00:02:19   enterprises and and other various metals [TS]

00:02:23   and so there's one that I want to pick [TS]

00:02:25   for this draft where I was like you know [TS]

00:02:28   it kind of want to live on a ship and [TS]

00:02:29   what's the ship that I really would like [TS]

00:02:31   to exist on where i would feel [TS]

00:02:34   comfortable most of the time and I think [TS]

00:02:35   that would have to be the ncc 1701 d [TS]

00:02:38   galaxy-class Enterprise from Star Trek [TS]

00:02:40   The Next Generation so it's kind of it's [TS]

00:02:42   sort of creature comforts then that are [TS]

00:02:44   driving you to the the enterprise-d [TS]

00:02:46   because it's got like wood accents plush [TS]

00:02:49   carpeting lots of holiday [TS]

00:02:51   nothing says brave space explorer like a [TS]

00:02:53   hotel in space no ten-forward [TS]

00:02:55   replicators you're all set a barber [TS]

00:02:59   it's true mr. Mott i hope that helped [TS]

00:03:01   the barber doesn't come with the ship [TS]

00:03:02   because I i would just take a pass on [TS]

00:03:04   mr. Mott how dare you come here okay and [TS]

00:03:07   being in that lighting for the rest of [TS]

00:03:08   your life is harsh video lighting it's [TS]

00:03:12   kind of like every room looks the same [TS]

00:03:14   and it's really not flatter fluorescent [TS]

00:03:17   it'sit's pretty ambient and diffuse I'll [TS]

00:03:20   grant you that it'sit's you know but if [TS]

00:03:22   you get tired of it you can just tell [TS]

00:03:24   the computer to turn down the lighting [TS]

00:03:25   and you can go into the holodeck and you [TS]

00:03:27   can be somewhere else if you want to so [TS]

00:03:29   I'm uncomfortable with that are you [TS]

00:03:32   worried at all about the constant [TS]

00:03:33   psychopaths and murderers that the [TS]

00:03:35   holodeck crisp it out i was thinking [TS]

00:03:37   about that but there's it's going to [TS]

00:03:41   probably be a couple other ships that [TS]

00:03:43   other people are going to come across [TS]

00:03:44   and draft in these rounds where it's [TS]

00:03:46   going to be pretty dangerous as well [TS]

00:03:48   because it turns out that sci-fi [TS]

00:03:50   storytelling usually involve some sort [TS]

00:03:52   of drama and action and and jeopardy so [TS]

00:03:54   you got you got you got to pick [TS]

00:03:56   something and i would i would rather go [TS]

00:03:59   with this one because at least you got [TS]

00:04:00   some more comfortable environment than [TS]

00:04:03   then a few of the other enterprises you [TS]

00:04:05   know we encounter at Farpoint the [TS]

00:04:07   holodeck is just like a creek and a like [TS]

00:04:10   a forest and that's perfectly safe until [TS]

00:04:13   data says computer create a frog that I [TS]

00:04:16   can't even defeat and then that is that [TS]

00:04:19   the Frog wins and that's the nog l7 of [TS]

00:04:22   the Frog yeah always that disk you come [TS]

00:04:24   with the ship [TS]

00:04:25   no no like you you don't want [TS]

00:04:28   him but like you realize you've been [TS]

00:04:30   you've been sold a bill of goods here [TS]

00:04:31   and Q's on board it's possible [TS]

00:04:34   probably not sujini which is cute need [TS]

00:04:37   with a starship apparently a lot of [TS]

00:04:39   people keep showing up [TS]

00:04:40   I've been on the ship with you you know [TS]

00:04:41   sorry that's some wedding idea they're [TS]

00:04:43   going was on that ship to John siracusa [TS]

00:04:48   it's time for your first round pick of [TS]

00:04:50   spaceships [TS]

00:04:51   well you know I feel lucky I feel lucky [TS]

00:04:54   that I'm so early in the draft order and [TS]

00:04:56   with such good luck i have to pick the [TS]

00:04:58   appropriate ship based on my good luck [TS]

00:05:00   if you were to see this ship [TS]

00:05:03   you may find yourself thinking what a [TS]

00:05:05   piece of junk mmm compression maybe this [TS]

00:05:08   one is garbage [TS]

00:05:09   mmm saw me arrive in the ship you say [TS]

00:05:11   you came here and that thing you're [TS]

00:05:13   braver than I thought [TS]

00:05:14   fast ship you've never heard of the [TS]

00:05:16   Millennium Falcon the ship that made the [TS]

00:05:18   Kessel run in less than 12 parsecs it's [TS]

00:05:20   outrun Imperial starships not the local [TS]

00:05:22   bulk cruisers mind you are talking about [TS]

00:05:23   the big Corellian ships now she may not [TS]

00:05:26   look like much but she's got it where it [TS]

00:05:27   counts kid the Millennium Falcon is my [TS]

00:05:30   number one pick and i can't believe it [TS]

00:05:32   wasn't already chosen two big ones are [TS]

00:05:36   already chosen in the first two rounds [TS]

00:05:38   so where the hell do we go from here [TS]

00:05:39   great now i will add by the way the [TS]

00:05:41   whole thing of like Oh sci-fi stories [TS]

00:05:43   involve danger and you're always in [TS]

00:05:44   danger in this ship the blame Falcon [TS]

00:05:46   danger doesn't seek it out it escapes [TS]

00:05:48   danger it is forever fleeing from danger [TS]

00:05:50   is fleeing from Star Destroyers is [TS]

00:05:52   fleeing from the mouth of a giant [TS]

00:05:53   puppets in an asteroid it's got a nice [TS]

00:05:56   game room where you can battle a little [TS]

00:05:58   floaty ball and play some weird space [TS]

00:06:01   chest thing I it it survives [TS]

00:06:03   miraculously when you think you know it [TS]

00:06:05   should have been blown up but it really [TS]

00:06:07   just got his radar just knocked off and [TS]

00:06:08   it comes out of the flames triumphantly [TS]

00:06:09   the morning Malcolm is a survivor [TS]

00:06:11   well I'll give you that you know it it [TS]

00:06:14   gets out of danger a lot especially as [TS]

00:06:18   long as the hyperdrives working because [TS]

00:06:20   what is not working still survives it's [TS]

00:06:23   not going to blow up all the time like [TS]

00:06:24   the enterprise is Little River [TS]

00:06:25   hyperdrives not working [TS]

00:06:27   it can make it to another star system [TS]

00:06:28   because an asteroid belt to pass data [TS]

00:06:32   system it so every database now you've [TS]

00:06:35   got it backwards [TS]

00:06:36   yeah look at that foolish [TS]

00:06:39   ok I i have to say that when I chose [TS]

00:06:43   when I said John it's your pick i just [TS]

00:06:44   started typing Millennium Falcon in my [TS]

00:06:47   spreadsheet possible and I don't [TS]

00:06:49   understand how it wasn't chosen first [TS]

00:06:51   like I'm not the enterprise is great the [TS]

00:06:53   enterprise-d is great you know like good [TS]

00:06:55   ship i'm not going to say anything bad [TS]

00:06:56   by the enterprise except in general tend [TS]

00:06:58   to get blown up a lot but come on the [TS]

00:07:01   Millennium Falcon come on people you [TS]

00:07:02   need hundreds of people to flight [TS]

00:07:04   enterprise DUI seems like you just need [TS]

00:07:06   those people in the room leaning back [TS]

00:07:07   and forth and then I can't really just [TS]

00:07:08   walking down the hallways with [TS]

00:07:09   clipboards everyone else is there for [TS]

00:07:11   ballast it has to be a certain way it's [TS]

00:07:14   a union thing like the unions have [TS]

00:07:15   negotiated how many people have to be on [TS]

00:07:17   the other person flies itself but you [TS]

00:07:19   know we gotta give the human something [TS]

00:07:21   to do and also we have to give mr. Mott [TS]

00:07:22   the barber something to do Scott I [TS]

00:07:24   started ship has already been chosen but [TS]

00:07:26   you make one if you like there are many [TS]

00:07:28   to choose from it's true now my question [TS]

00:07:30   is is its reality versions of the same [TS]

00:07:34   ship that had already taken [TS]

00:07:36   are these still because my choice if [TS]

00:07:40   that is a allowable is from the series [TS]

00:07:45   finale of Star Trek The Next Generation [TS]

00:07:47   the future Enterprise Captain by Admiral [TS]

00:07:51   Riker that has a third nacelle and a [TS]

00:07:54   cloaking device and is far superior in [TS]

00:07:57   every respect to the one that Joe picked [TS]

00:08:00   learned in a Cell i have to say i was i [TS]

00:08:04   was going to go by if it's just a set [TS]

00:08:07   redress it's not enough but the third [TS]

00:08:09   cell is not just a century dress so I'm [TS]

00:08:11   going to give it to you Scott [TS]

00:08:12   take it take it away you get right you [TS]

00:08:15   get Rikers captain so sorry about that [TS]

00:08:17   yeah they made plays Admiral Riker he's [TS]

00:08:20   in the day they added the the little [TS]

00:08:22   cannon thing on the bottom and include [TS]

00:08:23   those little wing things next to the [TS]

00:08:24   bridge [TS]

00:08:25   yeah for experienced any reasons they [TS]

00:08:28   even let it break the horizontal plane [TS]

00:08:30   in a fight scene see it's true alas that [TS]

00:08:33   future was never to be because the 1701 [TS]

00:08:35   do was destroyed so it's from an [TS]

00:08:37   alternate future timeline where the on [TS]

00:08:40   71 d survive [TS]

00:08:41   exactly i'm uncomfortable without nerdy [TS]

00:08:43   the spaceship draft is getting yeah well [TS]

00:08:46   it's true we gotta bring it back [TS]

00:08:48   have you met us Saturn 5 somebody pick [TS]

00:08:51   the 75 quick [TS]

00:08:52   all right Scott I you didn't let me down [TS]

00:08:54   there that was a nerdy star trek pic [TS]

00:08:56   that's what i was looking for from you [TS]

00:08:57   wow ok so Erica you're up i tell me what [TS]

00:09:02   spaceship you'd like to pick huh [TS]

00:09:04   I i heard cannot tell you what a feeling [TS]

00:09:06   of relief I have to get to this point [TS]

00:09:07   and still have the TARDIS on board [TS]

00:09:10   because you're right [TS]

00:09:13   the TARDIS is no longer on the board it [TS]

00:09:16   is mine online [TS]

00:09:17   yeah um I mean it's so awesome it not [TS]

00:09:20   only travels through space it travels [TS]

00:09:22   through time it is bigger on the inside [TS]

00:09:24   but if you get bored traveling reaches [TS]

00:09:26   of space you can go through time to even [TS]

00:09:28   go through atmosphere [TS]

00:09:29   sometimes you can go through a planet [TS]

00:09:31   although that doesn't always work so [TS]

00:09:32   well it's it's semi-sentient sometimes [TS]

00:09:35   sort of so you can kind of have somebody [TS]

00:09:38   to talk to you know the ship is always [TS]

00:09:40   looking out for you as long as she likes [TS]

00:09:42   you if she doesn't like you then you're [TS]

00:09:43   probably in trouble but i'm very [TS]

00:09:45   confident that the TARDIS would like me [TS]

00:09:47   just fine [TS]

00:09:48   so yeah i'm i'm pretty excited to be on [TS]

00:09:50   the TARDIS plus it's basically [TS]

00:09:52   infinitely big on the inside so i could [TS]

00:09:54   have like six different bedrooms all [TS]

00:09:56   decorated and completely different ways [TS]

00:09:58   with you know my own library and pretty [TS]

00:10:01   much whatever kind of food I wanted any [TS]

00:10:02   time of the day although mostly it [TS]

00:10:04   apparently comes in bar form but you [TS]

00:10:06   know what it still tastes good [TS]

00:10:07   alright the TARDIS is off the board fair [TS]

00:10:10   enough [TS]

00:10:11   I I it was inevitable this is what [TS]

00:10:13   happens when I go asking around stupid [TS]

00:10:15   hosting the targets the charges had [TS]

00:10:18   fails at one of the most important [TS]

00:10:20   things of a spaceship getting you where [TS]

00:10:22   you want to go consistently yeah but I [TS]

00:10:25   think that's very good steering at all [TS]

00:10:27   it's another spaceship that may come up [TS]

00:10:28   that has a similar problem with [TS]

00:10:30   navigation but is it really a problem [TS]

00:10:31   because i feel like the TARDIS is taking [TS]

00:10:34   you where you need to be a lot of the [TS]

00:10:36   time like this a reality ship that that [TS]

00:10:37   may be named later mr. and really for me [TS]

00:10:40   that the TARDIS is the destination [TS]

00:10:41   itself [TS]

00:10:42   wherever I ended up is just that's just [TS]

00:10:44   gravy you're not concerned about getting [TS]

00:10:46   lost inside your own ship like the idea [TS]

00:10:48   that you own this thing [TS]

00:10:50   ostensibly but you have no idea what the [TS]

00:10:52   extent of the interior is and it's [TS]

00:10:54   possible to get lost or entire episodes [TS]

00:10:55   it seems kinda parts for example [TS]

00:10:58   yeah that's just that adds to the the [TS]

00:10:59   spice that the flavor little excitement [TS]

00:11:02   to life the swimming pool [TS]

00:11:03   it's a could be anywhere [TS]

00:11:05   all right Monty what's your spaceship [TS]

00:11:09   choice my first pick sensible spaceships [TS]

00:11:12   have all been taken so I'm going to have [TS]

00:11:14   to push the bounds a little with the [TS]

00:11:17   satellite of love I'll come haha my list [TS]

00:11:21   up on my list too [TS]

00:11:23   it comes complete with hundreds of [TS]

00:11:26   movies also robot pals [TS]

00:11:30   yes made out of the parts they let you [TS]

00:11:31   start and stop the music movies [TS]

00:11:33   unfortunately so you lost the remote big [TS]

00:11:36   deal and if the satellite of love is [TS]

00:11:40   part of my fleet [TS]

00:11:41   I no longer have to worry about how I [TS]

00:11:43   eat or breathe so with the mundane [TS]

00:11:45   worries of life behind me I can stroll [TS]

00:11:49   forward into a glorious life of watching [TS]

00:11:52   movies with robots and isn't that really [TS]

00:11:55   the dream I saw it really is [TS]

00:11:57   I've never to the geography of the ship [TS]

00:11:59   on one end is where they do all the [TS]

00:12:00   skits and everything and ran at [TS]

00:12:02   somewhere else on the ship is a much [TS]

00:12:04   much bigger area where there's the [TS]

00:12:06   screen even though the two ends of the [TS]

00:12:07   ship at the same size I've never [TS]

00:12:09   understood that they only look the same [TS]

00:12:10   size that's for shortly [TS]

00:12:12   I that's right perspective it's like [TS]

00:12:14   it's like The Hobbit but I mean they go [TS]

00:12:16   they go through that a shoebox to get to [TS]

00:12:18   the movie theater right haha yeah [TS]

00:12:19   cardboard doors that go up we assume [TS]

00:12:21   that's going all the way down the ship [TS]

00:12:24   that may not be and there's more rooms [TS]

00:12:25   than we see like each of the robots as a [TS]

00:12:27   bedroom and there's a whole bunch of [TS]

00:12:28   other stuff that you is in the mst3k [TS]

00:12:29   movie so we know I've got a library to [TS]

00:12:32   it is a giant hamster wheel you can run [TS]

00:12:33   on [TS]

00:12:34   yeah you you'll stay fit forever stay [TS]

00:12:38   fit [TS]

00:12:39   [Music] [TS]

00:12:41   alright the satellite of love from mr. [TS]

00:12:44   sense their 3000th is now on the board [TS]

00:12:46   ship it's your turn [TS]

00:12:47   while the good stuff is already gone [TS]

00:12:49   what do you like sorry chap yeah yeah [TS]

00:12:51   I'm very unhappy with you Erykah i was [TS]

00:12:54   tempted to select the Masters TARDIS [TS]

00:12:57   which is basically everything Erika said [TS]

00:12:59   plus it's actually got a working [TS]

00:13:00   chameleon circuit and usually goes where [TS]

00:13:02   you want it to [TS]

00:13:03   yeah yeah that too but the great cooking [TS]

00:13:08   TV show legend Alton Brown has always [TS]

00:13:11   weighed in against unit asker's things [TS]

00:13:14   that can all are only good as one thing [TS]

00:13:16   only [TS]

00:13:17   have one purpose i do have some unit [TS]

00:13:19   asker's on my list but i'm going to open [TS]

00:13:21   with a spaceship that is not only a [TS]

00:13:24   spaceship but it is also a robot and on [TS]

00:13:29   top of that it is also one heck of a [TS]

00:13:32   really big gun [TS]

00:13:34   I speak of course of the Macross sdf-1 [TS]

00:13:37   the giant space battle fortress that is [TS]

00:13:42   at the heart of the television series [TS]

00:13:45   the japanese animated animated series a [TS]

00:13:48   super dimension fortress macross also [TS]

00:13:51   known in us as the first half off [TS]

00:13:53   robotech this is a giant this is a giant [TS]

00:13:57   space battleship that reconfigures [TS]

00:14:01   itself to fire it's a big huge stonking [TS]

00:14:05   main gun to destroy hundreds and [TS]

00:14:07   hundreds of ships in a single blast [TS]

00:14:09   because when they use the hyperdrive the [TS]

00:14:11   first time one of the components [TS]

00:14:12   disappeared and they had to reconfigure [TS]

00:14:14   it to change it change it and it just [TS]

00:14:15   happens to look like a giant robot when [TS]

00:14:18   it's all said and done it one that has [TS]

00:14:21   aircraft carriers forearms the ship [TS]

00:14:24   spends a lot of time as a big statue [TS]

00:14:26   though how do you feel about that you [TS]

00:14:27   know it takes away from the sort of [TS]

00:14:29   spaceship pride it does does do a lot of [TS]

00:14:31   space ship stuff it has space bottles [TS]

00:14:33   but for a long time is like a statue in [TS]

00:14:36   the park for pigeons to to respond i [TS]

00:14:37   think that gives its style points does [TS]

00:14:39   it need pride when it can blow you up [TS]

00:14:41   John [TS]

00:14:42   I always thought that this one tends to [TS]

00:14:44   kind of get blown up a little bit too [TS]

00:14:46   sometime you know it goes out in a blaze [TS]

00:14:49   of glory sir the the Macross sdf-1 [TS]

00:14:52   alright it is a spaceship and it is well [TS]

00:14:56   it looks like a robot John might argue [TS]

00:14:58   about the weather it is is your space [TS]

00:15:01   Fletcher space it's a spaceship I'm [TS]

00:15:03   let's not talk about whether it's a [TS]

00:15:04   robot or not that's don't like Ali ok so [TS]

00:15:07   Brian it's your turn for your [TS]

00:15:09   first-round pick what do you have [TS]

00:15:10   well i would like to open by cursing [TS]

00:15:12   Monty for taking my number one pick back [TS]

00:15:14   yeah i would also drafting a ok [TS]

00:15:18   God the draft the draft so my first pick [TS]

00:15:22   is going to be from the sci-fi series [TS]

00:15:26   the expanse and first appearing in [TS]

00:15:28   Leviathan wakes former mcrn ship the [TS]

00:15:32   Rocinante commandeered by james holden [TS]

00:15:34   and his lovely crew of complete rates [TS]

00:15:37   bringing them on adventures all [TS]

00:15:39   throughout the galaxy for higher doing [TS]

00:15:41   whatever they want drinking all over [TS]

00:15:43   Fred Johnson station and all these other [TS]

00:15:45   wonderful things taking them all the way [TS]

00:15:46   out into the expanse if you read that [TS]

00:15:49   far [TS]

00:15:49   the other reason this shit means so much [TS]

00:15:52   to me because I lived for six months in [TS]

00:15:54   brooklyn in a a room that I could not [TS]

00:15:57   stand up in it barely fit my bed and as [TS]

00:16:01   that I was going through the expanse [TS]

00:16:02   audiobooks I got through that relatively [TS]

00:16:06   difficult living situation by imagining [TS]

00:16:08   i was on a spaceship as the reason Dante [TS]

00:16:11   and pretending that the confined [TS]

00:16:14   quarters i was living in was a necessity [TS]

00:16:16   of the ship flying through space and not [TS]

00:16:19   having to take up that much space so for [TS]

00:16:22   me the rosin on today as well as being a [TS]

00:16:24   kick-ass ship is meaningful to me in [TS]

00:16:26   that way as well there wasn't a you know [TS]

00:16:28   you can pick something with like room [TS]

00:16:30   right [TS]

00:16:30   I could but you know the common areas [TS]

00:16:34   have some leg room but the the I i had [TS]

00:16:37   this on my list too i think i think the [TS]

00:16:39   restaurant is one of the stars of those [TS]

00:16:41   of those books I like that it's [TS]

00:16:43   secondhand that they basically end up [TS]

00:16:45   with a Martian Navy ship and they're [TS]

00:16:48   like yeah this is gonna be ours now and [TS]

00:16:50   they make it there is occasionally they [TS]

00:16:52   stick things on the outside of it to [TS]

00:16:54   make it look like it's some other ship [TS]

00:16:55   it's not it's the Rocinante and it [TS]

00:16:58   serves the well and and it is definitely [TS]

00:17:00   one of the characters along with all the [TS]

00:17:02   people in the book the Rocinante always [TS]

00:17:04   a character in that in a book series and [TS]

00:17:06   fun to see it portrayed on TV too [TS]

00:17:08   I think that's a great pic front and one [TS]

00:17:10   of my favorite subplots and the in the [TS]

00:17:12   books is at one point the mcrn threatens [TS]

00:17:15   to take it back and you know looters [TS]

00:17:18   writes everything comes into it i [TS]

00:17:19   thought that was really fascinating [TS]

00:17:20   because hey it's their ship now they [TS]

00:17:21   really come to only even though it is [TS]

00:17:23   once the Martian fleets put a lot of [TS]

00:17:25   money into that ship they want to give [TS]

00:17:26   it back now [TS]

00:17:27   now of course not [TS]

00:17:28   at least several more books all right [TS]

00:17:30   there isn't a from the expanse it's a [TS]

00:17:32   good pic good pick [TS]

00:17:34   alright so I in what will probably be a [TS]

00:17:36   surprise no one's inside the last pic of [TS]

00:17:38   them this round i am going to pick the [TS]

00:17:41   ncc 1701 no bloody a B C or D the [TS]

00:17:47   original series Star Trek Enterprise [TS]

00:17:50   when I was a kid we went to the air and [TS]

00:17:53   space museum and I saw the original Star [TS]

00:17:55   Trek model of the enterprise hanging in [TS]

00:17:57   a like a doorway basically and I [TS]

00:18:00   remember that that I that number i must [TS]

00:18:02   have been like seven years old I [TS]

00:18:03   remember that clearly they recently [TS]

00:18:05   refurbished model and it's now on [TS]

00:18:07   display when they got it they were like [TS]

00:18:09   what is this it's a TV model they just [TS]

00:18:10   kind of hung it somewhere and forgot [TS]

00:18:12   about it and now they restored it [TS]

00:18:14   it's now on display they put like new [TS]

00:18:15   like LED lights him because the old [TS]

00:18:18   lights would probably set it on fire [TS]

00:18:19   eventually and it's kind of great that [TS]

00:18:22   it's there but my point is I don't [TS]

00:18:24   remember anything else from the air and [TS]

00:18:25   space museum except the enterprise all [TS]

00:18:27   the real space ships and other amazing [TS]

00:18:29   aeronautics and astronautics craft that [TS]

00:18:31   is the enterprise from Star Trek and i [TS]

00:18:35   love that ship loved it since I was a [TS]

00:18:37   little kid and I will always love it [TS]

00:18:40   no holodecks i would say that's a [TS]

00:18:42   feature food slots are available to give [TS]

00:18:44   you chicken sandwiches coffee and [TS]

00:18:46   meatloaf from time to time if you if you [TS]

00:18:48   would like them they're Jeffries two [TS]

00:18:50   tubes to crawl in ample number of [TS]

00:18:52   transporter rooms available some sweet a [TS]

00:18:55   sweet shuttlecraft in the down in the [TS]

00:18:57   shuttlebay if you like to go down there [TS]

00:18:58   and you know other other stuff [TS]

00:19:02   what more what more do you want there's [TS]

00:19:03   a there's a rec room too I here so the [TS]

00:19:06   enterprise 1701 is my three-dimensional [TS]

00:19:07   chess set [TS]

00:19:08   yeah oh yeah sure there's lots of games [TS]

00:19:11   there's lots of games there's some [TS]

00:19:12   there's some musical instruments you can [TS]

00:19:13   jam out with space hippies if you want [TS]

00:19:15   to sure no bathrooms right there are [TS]

00:19:19   there are not as many as there should be [TS]

00:19:20   but they are available just off-camera [TS]

00:19:22   open for those who need them also the [TS]

00:19:25   sound effects are great lots of boobs [TS]

00:19:27   and beeps which is a and want to switch [TS]

00:19:29   is lots of physical switches which as we [TS]

00:19:31   know from any tech podcast that will [TS]

00:19:34   tell us this having fit physical [TS]

00:19:36   switches when you're when you're driving [TS]

00:19:37   is way better than having a touchscreen [TS]

00:19:39   be nice if they were labeled [TS]

00:19:41   the color labels from red or blue or [TS]

00:19:44   blue switch the blue and you also get a [TS]

00:19:47   floppy disks that you can you can take [TS]

00:19:49   around the the data tapes and tapes to [TS]

00:19:52   queue up the shower and then we can hand [TS]

00:19:54   you a clipboard [TS]

00:19:55   I'm not you can you can look at the log [TS]

00:19:57   and you're here to my pad of paper cup [TS]

00:19:59   yeah salads salad home and salads to [TS]

00:20:02   write yet well on the enterprise 1701 [TS]

00:20:04   try the salad bar try recommend it and [TS]

00:20:06   so does dr. McCoy so there that's my pic [TS]

00:20:09   now before we go to round 2 [TS]

00:20:11   let's do an ad how about that i want to [TS]

00:20:13   tell you about zombies run the virtual [TS]

00:20:16   race there are sponsored this week we [TS]

00:20:18   all know that running is a great way to [TS]

00:20:21   get fit but it also can be incredibly [TS]

00:20:23   boring i'm i i'm crying out for [TS]

00:20:26   diversion and distraction and [TS]

00:20:28   entertainment when i'm running and this [TS]

00:20:31   is a virtual race that makes running [TS]

00:20:33   truly fun wherever you are in the world [TS]

00:20:40   will immerse you in a thrilling audio [TS]

00:20:41   story that's especially designed to [TS]

00:21:19   fun than a gym membership enter the [TS]

00:21:22   zombies run virtual race today at [TS]

00:21:27   coupon code incomparable to get five [TS]

00:21:29   dollars off your entry thanks to zombies [TS]

00:21:32   run the virtual race for sponsoring the [TS]

00:21:34   incomparable we have selected spaceships [TS]

00:21:36   so I guess we're done now let's do it [TS]

00:21:38   again Joe what's another spaceship that [TS]

00:21:41   you would like to select well I'm kind [TS]

00:21:42   of surprised and go in the first round [TS]

00:21:43   so I feel like I gotta take it now and [TS]

00:21:45   that's the bird-of-prey now there are [TS]

00:21:47   many to choose from because it's been [TS]

00:21:49   featured a bunch of times since the [TS]

00:21:51   original incarnation but I don't like [TS]

00:21:53   the bridge [TS]

00:21:54   and the original incarnation in star [TS]

00:21:56   trek 3 because they were used to set [TS]

00:21:57   from some other movie and then sex [TS]

00:21:58   sandwich boxes on the wall so I'm gonna [TS]

00:22:01   go with the redress of the star trek for [TS]

00:22:06   bridge of the redress of the star trek 5 [TS]

00:22:08   bridge of the redress of Star Trek six [TS]

00:22:10   bridge over the redress the generations [TS]

00:22:12   bridge which is eventually the IKS [TS]

00:22:15   retire in general Martok ship in deep [TS]

00:22:18   space nine so it's got all the [TS]

00:22:19   advantages of a nice clean updated [TS]

00:22:22   interior even though it's a 200 [TS]

00:22:25   something year old ship and it's a it's [TS]

00:22:27   got that cool Klingon stylin on the [TS]

00:22:29   outside and cloaking device [TS]

00:22:31   the Klingons don't waste ship designs [TS]

00:22:33   they just keep them going for a long [TS]

00:22:35   time I really gotta write the first yeah [TS]

00:22:38   it's kinda like it you can top it [TS]

00:22:39   yeah you know that the history of the [TS]

00:22:41   Klingon bird-of-prey is confusing [TS]

00:22:43   because I I think didn't wasn't [TS]

00:22:44   originally like the Romulans have the [TS]

00:22:46   bird-of-prey but then they'd like they [TS]

00:22:48   had they had that they couldn't afford [TS]

00:22:50   new models so then every day they said [TS]

00:22:52   well the Klingons Romulans totally share [TS]

00:22:54   ships that's what they do they totally [TS]

00:22:56   do that and then it became this thing [TS]

00:22:58   but with Star Trek and Star Trek three [TS]

00:23:00   the bird-of-prey really became a [TS]

00:23:01   character and then we saw it again and [TS]

00:23:03   again after that after it was in star [TS]

00:23:05   trek 3 even though there were sandwich [TS]

00:23:06   but yes because it be at the first time [TS]

00:23:10   they hinted at the technology swap was [TS]

00:23:12   enterprise incident where they wanted to [TS]

00:23:13   use the Klingon models right of the [TS]

00:23:15   Romulan models for third season star [TS]

00:23:17   trek oh all the Romulans had a Klingon [TS]

00:23:20   ships an important plot development and [TS]

00:23:23   it wasn't but they had a model they [TS]

00:23:26   could tell you but the that eventually [TS]

00:23:29   in the story there is going to take this [TS]

00:23:30   whole convoluted thing about how crude [TS]

00:23:33   was going to steal a Romulan [TS]

00:23:34   bird-of-prey so they could go to this [TS]

00:23:36   mission but they're just like we don't [TS]

00:23:37   need any of that so it's just a Klingon [TS]

00:23:39   bird-of-prey now yeah and and i think it [TS]

00:23:41   works out fine because it looks looks [TS]

00:23:43   cool [TS]

00:23:43   hey there's a whole star trek movie [TS]

00:23:44   where all of the principles are flying [TS]

00:23:47   in a in that ship right i mean that that [TS]

00:23:49   Star Trek for they don't have an [TS]

00:23:51   enterprise they have a Klingon [TS]

00:23:53   bird-of-prey and they do just fine [TS]

00:23:55   they remember where they Park the park [TS]

00:23:56   in san francisco to get back to it later [TS]

00:23:57   it's got a cloaking device is very [TS]

00:23:59   useful right well I still think they [TS]

00:24:00   smell oh they must smell [TS]

00:24:02   well the Klingon food packs give us our [TS]

00:24:05   rating system how what'd that their [TS]

00:24:07   targets running around on those things [TS]

00:24:09   it's called space ism I see your face [TS]

00:24:13   races if it doesn't like a steaming pile [TS]

00:24:16   of target poop anyway John syracuse tell [TS]

00:24:19   your next what do you have so I know [TS]

00:24:22   earlier I made some comments about other [TS]

00:24:23   people think spaceships that have a bad [TS]

00:24:24   habit of blowing up but i'm going to [TS]

00:24:26   make an exception for my next pick my [TS]

00:24:29   second thing I choose the Death Star [TS]

00:24:32   yeah its normal wars which it is not a [TS]

00:24:35   moon they can hold a space station but [TS]

00:24:38   really it's a spaceship it flies around [TS]

00:24:39   it has very variable speed seemingly you [TS]

00:24:42   can go from star system to star system [TS]

00:24:44   but then takes a long time to do orbital [TS]

00:24:46   insertion around another planet but [TS]

00:24:47   specifically since you're doing all this [TS]

00:24:49   business with picking every single [TS]

00:24:51   enterprise with a different letter after [TS]

00:24:52   the name i'm actually picking the death [TS]

00:24:55   star to the unfinished one from Return [TS]

00:24:58   of the Jedi for a couple of reasons [TS]

00:25:00   fully functional right or fully [TS]

00:25:02   operational [TS]

00:25:03   so first of all it is fully operational [TS]

00:25:04   was just despite the appearance the [TS]

00:25:06   second of all it is more powerful than [TS]

00:25:09   the original but John the death star one [TS]

00:25:11   actually blow up planets just start to [TS]

00:25:13   never blew up any planet well we'll [TS]

00:25:14   listen listen the first one could be [TS]

00:25:16   killed with a single shot from the [TS]

00:25:18   outside the second one requires [TS]

00:25:19   incredible piloting skill to get to the [TS]

00:25:21   middle of it through a very winding [TS]

00:25:23   passages with lots of tubes and pipes [TS]

00:25:25   and everything and then multiple ships [TS]

00:25:27   have to make the middle and blow it up [TS]

00:25:29   and then have to get out alive it's much [TS]

00:25:30   harder I mean you can't have guests are [TS]

00:25:31   easy to blow up like oh you should have [TS]

00:25:33   better defenses they worked on it they [TS]

00:25:35   improved it you know is pretty good for [TS]

00:25:37   a second attempt [TS]

00:25:38   I also think it looks cooler than the [TS]

00:25:39   other one and it's got a cool dark [TS]

00:25:41   throne room where I can see them they [TS]

00:25:42   like the big Emperor chair and like [TS]

00:25:44   cackling look out the big spider web [TS]

00:25:45   window it's pretty nice right to the [TS]

00:25:47   point where it goes up but it would be [TS]

00:25:49   worth it [TS]

00:25:49   yeah i mean eat you have to have like an [TS]

00:25:51   army of teddy bears to take that thing [TS]

00:25:53   down because it has a has a totally [TS]

00:25:55   impenetrable shield except that one [TS]

00:25:56   minor little flaw [TS]

00:25:57   that's right you knew the teddy bears to [TS]

00:25:59   to even get to the point where you're [TS]

00:26:00   skilled pilots could fly through the the [TS]

00:26:02   all the pipes and tubes and everything [TS]

00:26:04   so it's much harder to kill them [TS]

00:26:06   the first one well I had the death star [TS]

00:26:07   on my list too i think it is a classic [TS]

00:26:09   iconic space you know spaceship space [TS]

00:26:13   station whatever it may be it is it is [TS]

00:26:16   iconic and and and what we the question [TS]

00:26:19   we all still have to ask though is why [TS]

00:26:21   just the Death Star have a whole we may [TS]

00:26:23   never know [TS]

00:26:24   anyway skype it's time for your choice [TS]

00:26:26   what do you have for well I am tempted [TS]

00:26:29   to pick a different Klingon bird-of-prey [TS]

00:26:34   also save everything has been altered an [TS]

00:26:38   alternate version of something [TS]

00:26:39   previously pick that wouldn't be like [TS]

00:26:41   you at all [TS]

00:26:41   no because I do have on my list of very [TS]

00:26:44   specific bird of prey but i will pick [TS]

00:26:48   something that the first time you see it [TS]

00:26:51   it is shocking and to all star trek fans [TS]

00:26:55   it is don't you doing don't you do a a [TS]

00:26:57   ominous box of cybernetic adminius i'm [TS]

00:27:04   picking the Borg cube which says hey [TS]

00:27:08   we're in space [TS]

00:27:09   why do we need to be aerodynamic [TS]

00:27:10   s-tronic you be done with it later on [TS]

00:27:14   we'll have a sphere it'll be fine and we [TS]

00:27:16   like our geometry and so and the first [TS]

00:27:19   time I saw its in the the next [TS]

00:27:22   generation episode I was just like what [TS]

00:27:24   the heck is that [TS]

00:27:25   that looks unlike any spaceship i have [TS]

00:27:27   ever seen [TS]

00:27:28   although very similar to d6 so I felt a [TS]

00:27:32   kinship to it so the Borg cube your [TS]

00:27:36   biological and technological [TS]

00:27:37   distinctiveness will service the [TS]

00:27:40   collective I don't you have to be a Borg [TS]

00:27:42   if this is on your team I am the board [TS]

00:27:44   king missile or there's like others [TS]

00:27:49   Nick there's no viruses and things like [TS]

00:27:52   that the Borg cube that is uh I remember [TS]

00:27:54   seeing that in the wake you who episode [TS]

00:27:56   and thinking what a great idea like it [TS]

00:27:59   it's so alien in that it doesn't have [TS]

00:28:01   any of the aerodynamics that they always [TS]

00:28:03   designed ships unnecessarily in sci-fi [TS]

00:28:06   movies and TV shows and it was on my [TS]

00:28:09   list too i think that's a great choice I [TS]

00:28:10   I i I'll always have liked the board [TS]

00:28:13   cube the Borg sphere which can be [TS]

00:28:15   ejected from a board cube an interesting [TS]

00:28:17   wrinkle but you gotta go classic I think [TS]

00:28:19   with the board decision that the power [TS]

00:28:21   mac g4 cube is off the table or twisting [TS]

00:28:23   takes only if it flew in space Brian but [TS]

00:28:27   then then [TS]

00:28:27   let me handle it's also not actually [TS]

00:28:29   cube shape so yeah even I was able to [TS]

00:28:31   put shape-wise it's true [TS]

00:28:34   beta Scott are you picking the the one [TS]

00:28:37   from first contact are you picking the [TS]

00:28:38   one from the battle wolf 359 or are you [TS]

00:28:41   packing picking the original key one I [TS]

00:28:44   think I'll go with the original q Who [TS]

00:28:46   when I do like the first contact cubes [TS]

00:28:48   they they look a little spiffier i will [TS]

00:28:50   admit but we have to keep it classic i [TS]

00:28:53   think i think im gonna grant Scott the [TS]

00:28:55   entire board cube class as a yes [TS]

00:28:58   nobody pick extra board cubes were just [TS]

00:29:00   they look the same come on oh speaking [TS]

00:29:03   of racism okay Erica what we only had a [TS]

00:29:07   lot of Star Trek and Star Wars here help [TS]

00:29:10   us out I bet you've got something else [TS]

00:29:12   please Ben I do all right yes you're [TS]

00:29:15   talking about aerodynamic I'm gonna pay [TS]

00:29:17   ship that's not particularly aerodynamic [TS]

00:29:19   but it is it is a hearty ship that can [TS]

00:29:22   run almost forever and that would be the [TS]

00:29:25   Jupiter Mining Corporation ship Red [TS]

00:29:27   Dwarf it it looks kinda weird it's got [TS]

00:29:32   some asteroid sort of attached to its [TS]

00:29:33   sides because its mining I feel like [TS]

00:29:35   this important for my fleet to be able [TS]

00:29:37   to get some raw materials when I need [TS]

00:29:39   them to a brain with red dwarf and yeah [TS]

00:29:41   the weird scoop looking thing on the [TS]

00:29:43   front that doesn't look like it could [TS]

00:29:45   actually scoop up anything that is [TS]

00:29:47   scooping up hydrogen i think it is so [TS]

00:29:50   that it can just keep keep going forever [TS]

00:29:51   so look at the beginning of the show red [TS]

00:29:53   dwarf it's it's been going for three [TS]

00:29:55   million years already and obviously [TS]

00:29:57   needs very little maintenance because at [TS]

00:29:58   that point all has are a few scholars [TS]

00:30:00   which are pretty much crap at everything [TS]

00:30:02   oh when it comes right down to it plus [TS]

00:30:04   you get you get some some fun companions [TS]

00:30:07   to travel around with when i when i get [TS]

00:30:10   bored of the doctors wackiness and the [TS]

00:30:11   TARDIS i can go and have some completely [TS]

00:30:13   different wackiness and I know that [TS]

00:30:16   Crichton will always be there to do my [TS]

00:30:17   laundry so basically all of my chores [TS]

00:30:19   are done i mean i could actually just [TS]

00:30:21   pop them over to the TARDIS from time to [TS]

00:30:22   time and have him clean my rooms there [TS]

00:30:24   it would be really wonderful and you [TS]

00:30:26   know I could always have a list or make [TS]

00:30:27   me curry anytime I wanted it and yeah [TS]

00:30:30   then that would have to avoid the cat [TS]

00:30:33   most of the time because god that would [TS]

00:30:34   be so annoying [TS]

00:30:35   and do and then we'd have rumor who's my [TS]

00:30:38   favorite [TS]

00:30:38   oh yes yea TX pressure is off he's a [TS]

00:30:42   hologram hardlight hologram a hard light [TS]

00:30:45   hologram is totally different [TS]

00:30:47   yep just like the just like the whatsits [TS]

00:30:50   the doctor from Star Trek Voyager [TS]

00:30:51   hardline Holograms when the hologram not [TS]

00:30:54   a hologram never it's always a hologram [TS]

00:30:57   is the end of the day [TS]

00:30:58   whoa don't expect to that situation [TS]

00:31:01   there's a light beyond ok the red dwarf [TS]

00:31:04   that's a gut that's a great one we were [TS]

00:31:06   just talking about red dwarf and look [TS]

00:31:07   here it is in the draft amazing [TS]

00:31:10   Monty what do you have um a variety of [TS]

00:31:14   questionable choices that sums up your [TS]

00:31:17   life and i'm going to go to the world of [TS]

00:31:21   literature IEP goals literature i'm [TS]

00:31:25   going to pick Dora who is Lazarus long [TS]

00:31:28   ship [TS]

00:31:28   Wow from the books time enough for love [TS]

00:31:31   and the number of the beast and I think [TS]

00:31:33   to sail beyond the sunset although i [TS]

00:31:35   can't remember whether she actually [TS]

00:31:36   appears in that she's a ship designed [TS]

00:31:40   for luxury which I like very much and [TS]

00:31:42   also she has a sassy personality [TS]

00:31:43   built-in not your Hal 9000 personalities [TS]

00:31:48   that tried to kill you but just enough [TS]

00:31:49   personality to harass Lazarus and tell [TS]

00:31:52   them what is being done [TS]

00:31:53   alright i have I don't know if i've read [TS]

00:31:56   any of those books i would recommend [TS]

00:31:57   time enough for love [TS]

00:31:58   all right but not number of the beast [TS]

00:32:00   really like number of the beast [TS]

00:32:03   hardly anybody else does haha i say [TS]

00:32:05   alright what wondered what else do we [TS]

00:32:07   know about day so it's Dora the ship or [TS]

00:32:09   the or the intelligence are they kind of [TS]

00:32:11   intertwined they are intertwined um if [TS]

00:32:14   you like you can pretend that Dora is [TS]

00:32:16   piloting the ship but actually Lazarus [TS]

00:32:18   does a lot of the piloting and it seems [TS]

00:32:19   like dora is just there to keep him [TS]

00:32:21   company [TS]

00:32:22   Dora conceives of herself as the ship i [TS]

00:32:24   think at some point she gets downloaded [TS]

00:32:26   into a body and to sail beyond the [TS]

00:32:27   sunset or something that doesn't matter [TS]

00:32:29   does she do a lot of exploring in [TS]

00:32:31   principle yes she does library no [TS]

00:32:32   swiping and she never has to check a map [TS]

00:32:34   so don't say map [TS]

00:32:36   okay chip what's your choice i'm going [TS]

00:32:39   to go with the Cheyenne dropship from [TS]

00:32:42   aliens [TS]

00:32:43   this is not the silica which is a very [TS]

00:32:46   impressive looking ship but it is what [TS]

00:32:48   the [TS]

00:32:49   Marines used to get down to the planet [TS]

00:32:52   and there is just something so cool [TS]

00:32:56   about an entirely aerodynamically [TS]

00:32:58   impossible badass helicopter in space [TS]

00:33:02   basically that has fold-out wings that [TS]

00:33:04   fold out when it's flying through the [TS]

00:33:05   atmosphere and it would just sheer off [TS]

00:33:06   and just die everywhere but that scene [TS]

00:33:09   is so cool in the movie and that ship [TS]

00:33:12   just really sells the whole of the whole [TS]

00:33:16   Marines in space kind of thing [TS]

00:33:18   the fact that it is so cool you have to [TS]

00:33:21   wear raybans to be its pilot in the end [TS]

00:33:25   then the far-off future it's it's it's [TS]

00:33:28   one of those moments in that movie that [TS]

00:33:30   possibly left too big a mark on young [TS]

00:33:36   dateless males of my generation who [TS]

00:33:38   watched this movie and got all kinds of [TS]

00:33:42   bad ideas about what it was like to be [TS]

00:33:44   in the military in science fiction [TS]

00:33:46   stories but the Cheyenne dropship it [TS]

00:33:50   just looks so damn cool and put a heck [TS]

00:33:53   of a ride [TS]

00:33:54   somebody wake up pics very nice very [TS]

00:33:56   nice reference [TS]

00:33:59   alright Brian its to you what do you [TS]

00:34:01   have for us [TS]

00:34:02   I would like if I may oh this was a list [TS]

00:34:06   on a strange journey after a night of [TS]

00:34:10   debauchery and singing and dancing and a [TS]

00:34:13   weird sci-fi monster that comes to life [TS]

00:34:16   somehow through the magic of watercolor [TS]

00:34:18   paints the castle in the 1975 movie The [TS]

00:34:23   Rocky Horror Picture Show that takes off [TS]

00:34:26   from Planet Earth and flies back through [TS]

00:34:31   space and the hacks even through time [TS]

00:34:34   itself back to the galaxy of transsexual [TS]

00:34:39   in the planet Transylvania there you [TS]

00:34:42   have it the rocky horror picture show [TS]

00:34:44   castle [TS]

00:34:44   Wow three spaces draft is over he just [TS]

00:34:47   wanted money you said you had that you [TS]

00:34:49   were you planning that one too [TS]

00:34:51   that's what I couldn't decide on how uh [TS]

00:34:53   huh [TS]

00:34:54   that is amazing Brian I that okay yes [TS]

00:34:57   you get a gold star for that one [TS]

00:34:58   completely unexpected [TS]

00:35:00   now it bothers me [TS]

00:35:02   that there isn't a floor anymore because [TS]

00:35:04   bread and gender left on the ground [TS]

00:35:06   which I think means they just took off [TS]

00:35:09   without the foundation no no they [TS]

00:35:11   escaped the mansion they get out of them [TS]

00:35:15   and dr. Scott scuttle off onto the lawn [TS]

00:35:18   and I guessing the propellers in the [TS]

00:35:21   wrong word a turban whatever jetfire [TS]

00:35:24   spouts below the mansion scorch them and [TS]

00:35:29   then they sing one last song all [TS]

00:35:30   together about superiors ok [TS]

00:35:32   excuse me so many times nothing you [TS]

00:35:34   haven't Monty I know you have but [TS]

00:35:36   believe me it's not pay attention after [TS]

00:35:39   a while [TS]

00:35:41   okay i'm going to with my with my pic at [TS]

00:35:44   the 10 the second round of our spaceship [TS]

00:35:47   draft i am going to pick something from [TS]

00:35:50   Babylon 5 because I feel like Babylon 5 [TS]

00:35:53   spaceship designs are not as appreciated [TS]

00:35:56   as they should be up in particular one [TS]

00:35:58   of my favorite sci-fi TV spaceship [TS]

00:36:00   designs ever is the minbari war Cruiser [TS]

00:36:03   their kind of look cross that off my [TS]

00:36:05   later kind of blue there really tall and [TS]

00:36:08   thin air like a tropical fish and I [TS]

00:36:11   think it's a really great design like it [TS]

00:36:13   there this we see so many spaceship [TS]

00:36:15   designs that are horizontal or or that [TS]

00:36:19   that that run lengthwise and these are [TS]

00:36:21   tall narrow ships when they fly around i [TS]

00:36:25   mean i know there are no directions in [TS]

00:36:26   space but the way that everything is [TS]

00:36:28   shot and oriented you don't see them as [TS]

00:36:30   like flying saucer-like things they're [TS]

00:36:31   these things that look like blue bright [TS]

00:36:34   tropical fish flying through space [TS]

00:36:36   blowing things up saving the day come [TS]

00:36:39   and piloted by aliens with big bones [TS]

00:36:42   coming out of their heads just as a [TS]

00:36:43   bonus [TS]

00:36:44   there's places you can sleep although [TS]

00:36:45   you may have to sleep at an angle the [TS]

00:36:48   bridges cut bridges are comfortable [TS]

00:36:50   there are lots of places you can you can [TS]

00:36:52   hang out with with minbari they're very [TS]

00:36:54   interesting conversationalist [TS]

00:36:56   but really it's for the outside look at [TS]

00:36:57   it it looks unlike any other TV or movie [TS]

00:37:02   spaceship i can think of and I every [TS]

00:37:04   time I see them on Babylon 5 [TS]

00:37:06   I love them and a little honorable [TS]

00:37:08   mention for there's an episode where we [TS]

00:37:10   see a previous generation of minbari war [TS]

00:37:13   cruisers and there [TS]

00:37:14   and they're visibly older and they're [TS]

00:37:16   all kind of rounded and there's very [TS]

00:37:18   clearly the same style but older and I [TS]

00:37:21   thought that was a beautiful piece of of [TS]

00:37:23   art direction as well so but i'm picking [TS]

00:37:26   the the modern by Babylon 5 terms [TS]

00:37:28   minbari war Cruiser they're so pretty [TS]

00:37:30   they also pack a real punch too i mean [TS]

00:37:32   if you want like pure destructive power [TS]

00:37:34   that's that's a good way to go [TS]

00:37:35   they're going to take over the earth I [TS]

00:37:36   mean right up until they surrender for [TS]

00:37:38   other reasons they're gonna go all the [TS]

00:37:40   way to earth and and defeat the the [TS]

00:37:42   earth in the earth-minbari war and then [TS]

00:37:44   they don't easily like through tissue [TS]

00:37:46   paper and they're silent but deadly [TS]

00:37:48   they are silent but deadly it's true and [TS]

00:37:51   there's there are some key scenes where [TS]

00:37:52   minbari war cruisers appear in Babylon 5 [TS]

00:37:54   and you just kind of want to stand up [TS]

00:37:55   and Cheer because it's like yeah the [TS]

00:37:57   fish have come the space fish are here [TS]

00:37:59   to save everyone [TS]

00:38:00   it's the best alright so that's my [TS]

00:38:02   that's my Babylon 5 pick their okay we [TS]

00:38:05   are at the third round we're making good [TS]

00:38:07   time here Joe give us another spaceship [TS]

00:38:10   ok this one's tough there's a lot of [TS]

00:38:12   directions to go now because the things [TS]

00:38:14   that I feel super strongly about are [TS]

00:38:16   mostly taken care of but I i kinda want [TS]

00:38:20   to make sure that nobody takes this one [TS]

00:38:22   and I'm a little worried based on a [TS]

00:38:23   reference someone made at the beginning [TS]

00:38:24   of the recording that somebody well so [TS]

00:38:26   i'm gonna pick the NSE a protector know [TS]

00:38:27   it's on my list all it's on my list [TS]

00:38:29   yes gotcha Brian now better idea [TS]

00:38:33   the NSA protector is from one of my [TS]

00:38:36   favorite films and I love watching [TS]

00:38:37   galaxy quest it has a minor blemishes [TS]

00:38:40   from leaving drydock yeah it it it is an [TS]

00:38:44   interesting ship design and that its [TS]

00:38:46   star trekky without necessarily being of [TS]

00:38:49   Star Trek and it is a guided cool little [TS]

00:38:52   bridge that pops off for reasons [TS]

00:38:55   Capcom into it also has the Omega 13 [TS]

00:38:59   just in case you know you make a mistake [TS]

00:39:00   you ever cook your pasta you need to [TS]

00:39:04   make sure that you don't have somebody [TS]

00:39:07   died [TS]

00:39:08   don't forget my job person it's also got [TS]

00:39:09   the choppers well I'm not really [TS]

00:39:11   planning on forgot my self-destruct [TS]

00:39:13   no yeah but but hopefully you know the [TS]

00:39:16   checksums will remain valid and I wanted [TS]

00:39:18   to worry about that but the the ship's [TS]

00:39:21   it's fun it's a lot of fun i love it so [TS]

00:39:24   i'm gonna i'm picking that one it kind [TS]

00:39:25   of looks like a horseshoe good [TS]

00:39:27   I like everything about that ship is [TS]

00:39:29   that at the end of the movie when [TS]

00:39:31   they're frantically racing through we no [TS]

00:39:32   one knows how the ship works because [TS]

00:39:34   they're all actors so they had to radio [TS]

00:39:36   back to earth to get someone who [TS]

00:39:38   actually knows to get just a long shelf [TS]

00:39:40   from yeah it's one of my favorite little [TS]

00:39:42   plot to assume movie when they're able [TS]

00:39:44   to get a fan to be able to help them out [TS]

00:39:46   that way and it works really well that's [TS]

00:39:48   why it was on my list [TS]

00:39:49   that's why we all have the technical [TS]

00:39:50   manual for Star Trek or Star Wars when [TS]

00:39:53   we were kids righteous because in case [TS]

00:39:55   we were we need to be like Justin Long [TS]

00:39:57   galaxy quest and help out [TS]

00:39:58   ok John there's a lot of really good [TS]

00:40:01   Star Wars stuff still out there I'm kind [TS]

00:40:02   of shocked i almost picked a star wars [TS]

00:40:04   thing last round I decided you know [TS]

00:40:05   John's probably gonna pick all the Star [TS]

00:40:08   Wars thing so I I you meetin you know [TS]

00:40:11   are you picking a star wars thing or [TS]

00:40:12   have I just steered you wrong [TS]

00:40:14   that's one possible strategy I had I [TS]

00:40:16   realized I could just pick Star Wars [TS]

00:40:17   things for the entire graph but i [TS]

00:40:20   decided i wanted to mix it up jumping [TS]

00:40:24   I'm jumping some ships in my order here [TS]

00:40:26   because I mean now that I'm looking over [TS]

00:40:27   this list it's really kind of honored i [TS]

00:40:29   want to pull something up from the [TS]

00:40:30   bottom up the top not because i think [TS]

00:40:31   other people will get it but just [TS]

00:40:32   because i don't know how many rounds [TS]

00:40:33   will go and i think this the ship [TS]

00:40:35   deserves it [TS]

00:40:36   this is the jewel of the Star League the [TS]

00:40:39   gun star Starfighter yeah this was a [TS]

00:40:45   very interesting shift is on very [TS]

00:40:48   dragard very interesting mix of typical [TS]

00:40:52   sci-fi ship with just enough of NASA [TS]

00:40:55   thrown in to make you believe that [TS]

00:40:58   really the star league is out there and [TS]

00:40:59   they're playing video games maybe an [TS]

00:41:01   audition to you about this thing and [TS]

00:41:03   this thing about it they spend a lot of [TS]

00:41:05   time in this ship like that it's not [TS]

00:41:06   easy to pull you have to learn how to do [TS]

00:41:08   it you have to go through training both [TS]

00:41:09   on the ground and in the ship and it's [TS]

00:41:12   got your cool you got your copilot your [TS]

00:41:14   lizard guy behind you that's cool it's [TS]

00:41:16   got your cool secret weapon with the [TS]

00:41:17   death blossoms which is just like a [TS]

00:41:19   little extra thing that you weren't [TS]

00:41:20   aware that your ship has experimental [TS]

00:41:22   might not work you know it's kind of [TS]

00:41:24   silly in action but you know but now I [TS]

00:41:27   just think it looks super cool and I [TS]

00:41:28   really hope they remake this movie at [TS]

00:41:30   some point because what they did with [TS]

00:41:33   this ship and limited or no texture [TS]

00:41:35   mapping and [TS]

00:41:36   incredibly time-consuming rendering was [TS]

00:41:39   amazing and it really dazzled me in a [TS]

00:41:41   similar way the star wars dazzle me like [TS]

00:41:43   you know in that I knew this you know [TS]

00:41:45   that they were doing this in computers [TS]

00:41:46   and it was impressive and i really like [TS]

00:41:49   it's super cool that ship violated [TS]

00:41:51   gloriously every possible law of physics [TS]

00:41:54   stuff physics in space is works [TS]

00:41:57   I'm led to believe it it would've shaken [TS]

00:42:00   itself apart it would have blown itself [TS]

00:42:01   apart i love that thing so much god John [TS]

00:42:04   I hate you [TS]

00:42:05   that's why we do drafts for people to [TS]

00:42:07   mad when people take other peoples of [TS]

00:42:09   spaceships you should have got a higher [TS]

00:42:10   score in that game machine and maybe you [TS]

00:42:12   can be yours all right Scott John has [TS]

00:42:15   steered away from star wars are you [TS]

00:42:18   going to pick another ship from Star [TS]

00:42:20   Trek well I i have one star wars ship on [TS]

00:42:25   my list uh but I'm not gonna pick it up [TS]

00:42:28   uh-huh yet i'm going to keep it close to [TS]

00:42:32   my heart for some reason i will pick i [TS]

00:42:35   will i will also i'll join Monty and [TS]

00:42:38   jump into literature and pick a ship [TS]

00:42:42   from a series of books so I en mi your [TS]

00:42:48   sniping mihiro go ahead [TS]

00:42:51   well i don't i don't know which one [TS]

00:42:53   you're gonna pick because there are a [TS]

00:42:54   lot of ships in the culture the culture [TS]

00:42:56   has a the culture series is one of the [TS]

00:43:01   things that it's known for is a the [TS]

00:43:03   interesting names for many of the ships [TS]

00:43:05   and in many of the books ships are in [TS]

00:43:07   fact characters because they all have [TS]

00:43:09   mines at least one of them some of them [TS]

00:43:12   have three or four of them they control [TS]

00:43:15   the aspects of their their functions the [TS]

00:43:18   ship's very a wide range of sizes there [TS]

00:43:22   are ships that have millions of people [TS]

00:43:24   that are on them to tiny little ships [TS]

00:43:26   that have no people on them i am picking [TS]

00:43:28   a medium systems vehicle which is the [TS]

00:43:31   second largest the largest is the [TS]

00:43:33   general set systems via vehicles i'm [TS]

00:43:35   sure everyone knows it is called a fine [TS]

00:43:38   disregard for awkward facts and it [TS]

00:43:41   appears in the novel the hydrogen Sonata [TS]

00:43:44   which is of a fine book so everyone [TS]

00:43:47   should be used [TS]

00:43:48   and then that is my my pic just because [TS]

00:43:50   i like the name i was going to I had on [TS]

00:43:53   my list i won't pick now since since you [TS]

00:43:55   picked that I had a UI the GSV on my [TS]

00:43:57   list because i think the GSV itself is [TS]

00:44:00   such a fascinating shipped a lot of [TS]

00:44:02   great space ships in the culture but gsv [TS]

00:44:04   is that have like billions of people [TS]

00:44:06   living on the middle like planets that [TS]

00:44:07   fly around in space or any emotion of [TS]

00:44:10   mining craziness haha in banks look at [TS]

00:44:14   that well I'm glad that you went to [TS]

00:44:16   literature somebody had to Erica what [TS]

00:44:20   would you like to pick next [TS]

00:44:21   I've been debating going toward another [TS]

00:44:23   property that i feel very strongly about [TS]

00:44:25   but I think my next pic just has to be [TS]

00:44:27   based on the ship itself and how freakin [TS]

00:44:29   cool i think the ship is and i'm [TS]

00:44:32   sticking in the red dwarf universe [TS]

00:44:34   because in my favorite episode of red [TS]

00:44:36   dwarf hollow ship there is a sweet ship [TS]

00:44:39   called the enlightenment which is a [TS]

00:44:42   hologram attic ship it doesn't have any [TS]

00:44:44   mass or volume it is apparently composed [TS]

00:44:46   entirely of tachyons and it has the [TS]

00:44:49   ability to travel many multiples of the [TS]

00:44:52   speed of light can make wormholes [TS]

00:44:53   instantaneously take you from point to [TS]

00:44:56   point and they are only allowed to have [TS]

00:45:00   a crew of two thousand all Holograms so [TS]

00:45:03   I feel like this is sort of my [TS]

00:45:04   retirement policy when whenever one of [TS]

00:45:09   my other ships eventually gets blown up [TS]

00:45:11   and I'm on it i will be constantly sort [TS]

00:45:14   of saving my my mind print so that i can [TS]

00:45:17   be brought back on the hollow ship and [TS]

00:45:20   scholarships pretty sweet [TS]

00:45:21   I mean once you're there they just ship [TS]

00:45:25   well okay ship regulations do stipulate [TS]

00:45:27   you have to have sex twice a day [TS]

00:45:29   I feel like that might be a little bit [TS]

00:45:30   excessive just like the board cube this [TS]

00:45:34   day mean the days are very well takia [TS]

00:45:36   days are very long but the but you could [TS]

00:45:39   but as a hologram on you can touch [TS]

00:45:41   everything else on the ship it being [TS]

00:45:43   holographic so eating drinking you know [TS]

00:45:45   exercising swimming all that kind of [TS]

00:45:47   stuff they have have all the latest [TS]

00:45:49   amenities and all that kind of stuff and [TS]

00:45:51   you're practically indestructible you [TS]

00:45:53   don't have to worry too much because [TS]

00:45:54   there's very little that's physical [TS]

00:45:57   about this ship and [TS]

00:45:58   yeah it's pretty awesome and I feel like [TS]

00:46:00   it's a it's a nice mesh with with the [TS]

00:46:03   red dwarf because then Arnold Rimmer [TS]

00:46:05   could finally get the place that he [TS]

00:46:07   deserves [TS]

00:46:08   well sort of on the hollow ship and then [TS]

00:46:10   i would probably just take one of those [TS]

00:46:12   other two thousand crew members and i [TS]

00:46:15   would probably have have them cycle out [TS]

00:46:17   and and somebody would have to always be [TS]

00:46:19   on red dwarf to sort of keep an eye on [TS]

00:46:21   those guys because I just couldn't trust [TS]

00:46:22   them by themselves so i would have one [TS]

00:46:25   of the very very smart capable Holograms [TS]

00:46:27   from the Enlightenment take over there [TS]

00:46:30   for a while but it would we would have [TS]

00:46:31   to swap them out because anybody smart [TS]

00:46:33   and capable would not last very long on [TS]

00:46:35   red dwarf without going completely [TS]

00:46:36   insane [TS]

00:46:36   so that's my plan just a lot of a red [TS]

00:46:40   dwarf here [TS]

00:46:40   surprisingly yes I was being spread [TS]

00:46:42   surprised me a little bit but through [TS]

00:46:44   all through all right Monty what do you [TS]

00:46:47   have [TS]

00:46:47   well I want to have fun with my [TS]

00:46:50   spaceships you know I got the satellite [TS]

00:46:51   of love for relaxing and watching movies [TS]

00:46:53   with my robot pals la thank you i got [TS]

00:46:57   Dora who is a pal but ask myself what [TS]

00:47:00   spaceship is the most pure fun what do I [TS]

00:47:05   associate with fun so I'm going to pick [TS]

00:47:08   the rocket that you're riding when [TS]

00:47:10   you're on Space Mountain this is [TS]

00:47:14   obviously it's not ship your zooming [TS]

00:47:15   around space dodging asteroids and stuff [TS]

00:47:19   I think you're still in florida no nope [TS]

00:47:23   you're totally in California but anyway [TS]

00:47:24   yes i will allow it [TS]

00:47:26   the rocket that is the city that is the [TS]

00:47:29   roller coaster in space mountain who [TS]

00:47:31   Jason just looking for new podcast [TS]

00:47:34   standoff Monte i think and i think you [TS]

00:47:36   mean unity [TS]

00:47:38   all i know is i don't gotta wait no [TS]

00:47:41   lines [TS]

00:47:42   ah ok the dance the robot is now I mean [TS]

00:47:46   that's a smelting probably got worse [TS]

00:47:50   I'm sure you do it's on the board ship [TS]

00:47:53   what do you have [TS]

00:47:53   i am going to go to the pinnacle of [TS]

00:47:57   modular spacecraft technology i'm going [TS]

00:48:02   to go back to the year nineteen [TS]

00:48:03   eighty-three and I choose the legoland [TS]

00:48:07   space galaxy commander [TS]

00:48:10   wow this is a classic space set it [TS]

00:48:14   combines into multiple different forms [TS]

00:48:17   it's it's a big ship that comes with [TS]

00:48:19   five of those little red yellow and [TS]

00:48:22   white classic spacemen it's got a back [TS]

00:48:25   section with a slide-out lab module it [TS]

00:48:28   was big and it was it and it was [TS]

00:48:30   expansive and it was probably in it's [TS]

00:48:33   probably super expensive as Lego has [TS]

00:48:36   become over on and it was the last [TS]

00:48:38   really big really cool legoland space [TS]

00:48:41   thing before lego started abandoning the [TS]

00:48:44   whole we're all space explorers thing [TS]

00:48:46   and started giving them enemies and just [TS]

00:48:48   sort of surrendering to the GI Joe [TS]

00:48:50   application of toys and things like that [TS]

00:48:52   but for 44 people of a certain [TS]

00:48:56   generation that nests of Lego back then [TS]

00:49:01   was a wonderful creative outlet for [TS]

00:49:04   getting into 444 playing and getting [TS]

00:49:09   into and role-playing the whole the [TS]

00:49:11   space stuff that we were watching on [TS]

00:49:13   movie movie screens and television so [TS]

00:49:16   this was the this was the best of them [TS]

00:49:19   and it made my heart sing when Benny [TS]

00:49:23   showed up in the lego movie and all of [TS]

00:49:25   that nostalgia for those old lego space [TS]

00:49:27   toys became a part of the became a [TS]

00:49:30   really big important part of that movie [TS]

00:49:32   so the legoland space galaxy commander [TS]

00:49:35   item number 6980 thank you i'll put that [TS]

00:49:39   in a catalog put on your wish list [TS]

00:49:42   Brian it's your turn what's your third [TS]

00:49:44   selection well I'm i didn't even put [TS]

00:49:47   this on my list because I thought it [TS]

00:49:48   would be taken in the first round Allah [TS]

00:49:49   enterprise and [TS]

00:49:51   women falken but here we are a [TS]

00:49:52   third-round I thought why not pick the [TS]

00:49:55   firefly serenity right around Jason you [TS]

00:49:59   only have yourself to blame you only [TS]

00:50:01   have yourself [TS]

00:50:02   oh right oh man how what can i say about [TS]

00:50:06   this 12 episodes in the movie is not [TS]

00:50:09   enough time to spend on this glorious [TS]

00:50:10   glorious ship captain by nathan fillion [TS]

00:50:13   at all and Jason curse your sudden my [TS]

00:50:17   son Jason purse my sudden but inevitable [TS]

00:50:20   betrayal all you want but here i am [TS]

00:50:22   adding a serenity to my fleet it's a [TS]

00:50:26   great choice are one of my favorite [TS]

00:50:28   things about that ship not only I i [TS]

00:50:29   really like that show a lot but they [TS]

00:50:30   built the ship as the set it's a [TS]

00:50:33   multi-level set i believe and you get [TS]

00:50:36   the feeling of it as a real place in [TS]

00:50:38   that show which is something that you [TS]

00:50:41   know it's hard to do because it's a TV [TS]

00:50:44   spaceship but you really feel the [TS]

00:50:46   geography and the lived in nature of of [TS]

00:50:50   serenity when you're watching firefly I [TS]

00:50:52   think it's a great when do you get to [TS]

00:50:53   see people like I'm going from room to [TS]

00:50:55   room through corridors you know i love [TS]

00:50:57   the their bunks where they sort of you [TS]

00:50:59   know the door sort of kicks out and [TS]

00:51:00   they'd taken a ladder down to get to get [TS]

00:51:03   into their rooms and the fact that you [TS]

00:51:05   know it's a smuggling ship and it can do [TS]

00:51:06   stuff like bullet crazy Ivan versatile [TS]

00:51:09   yeah it's got a nice family style table [TS]

00:51:11   where everyone can eat together very [TS]

00:51:13   pleasant got a cool profile it looks [TS]

00:51:16   need to arm it looks like a firefight [TS]

00:51:17   for some reason out wonder why they [TS]

00:51:18   didn't admit that but mocha interesting [TS]

00:51:20   read the whole class is five weeks is [TS]

00:51:22   the first one was probably the firefly [TS]

00:51:24   then after that they had to give them [TS]

00:51:26   different names [TS]

00:51:27   alright well Brian ruined everything [TS]

00:51:30   there so with by pic i cast is over i am [TS]

00:51:35   chris seriously I'm gonna go to [TS]

00:51:37   literature to just again because i want [TS]

00:51:40   to clap join join a couple of our other [TS]

00:51:42   panelists in classing this thing up a [TS]

00:51:44   little bit with some some book [TS]

00:51:45   spaceships i am picking with my third [TS]

00:51:48   selection the Justice of Toren which is [TS]

00:51:53   a spaceship from the Imperial raj it is [TS]

00:51:56   a it is a spaceship that i feel like i [TS]

00:51:59   got to know because the AI or at least a [TS]

00:52:02   portion of the AI that was the justin of [TS]

00:52:04   Justice of tour [TS]

00:52:05   friend is brac the meat main character [TS]

00:52:08   in and Lucky's series of books ancillary [TS]

00:52:11   book starting with ancillary justice so [TS]

00:52:13   you get to know this ship is a character [TS]

00:52:15   ships rai is they are they are sentient [TS]

00:52:18   creatures even though their computers [TS]

00:52:20   that run spaceships and by the in the [TS]

00:52:24   plot of the book the the the ship is [TS]

00:52:26   blown up but one of the ancillaries [TS]

00:52:28   which is a human body containing the [TS]

00:52:30   mind or portions of the mind of the the [TS]

00:52:32   artificial intelligence the spaceship [TS]

00:52:34   survives and has to deal with being by [TS]

00:52:36   itself and not in a ship anymore which i [TS]

00:52:39   think is really interesting and a [TS]

00:52:40   flashback we get to see how the ship's [TS]

00:52:42   work in there they're also very [TS]

00:52:43   interesting although also sort of [TS]

00:52:46   populated by zombie slave labor which is [TS]

00:52:48   not so awesome but they it's not the AIS [TS]

00:52:50   fault they were born into it was gonna [TS]

00:52:52   say those ships are a little problematic [TS]

00:52:53   if they are cool they are cool but [TS]

00:52:55   they're yeah it's not it's not the [TS]

00:52:56   ship's fault right [TS]

00:52:58   but I feel like I've gotten to know that [TS]

00:53:00   ship in a way that that I we don't [TS]

00:53:02   normally get to know a spaceship because [TS]

00:53:04   it's the main character in an entire [TS]

00:53:06   trilogy science-fiction novels that that [TS]

00:53:08   spaceship so yeah it's Lord Justice [TS]

00:53:11   check it out i will ask you one question [TS]

00:53:13   though and that is what does it look [TS]

00:53:14   like I don't know it's a spaceship it's [TS]

00:53:16   cool it's got lots of levels and you [TS]

00:53:18   think it looks like and stuff and it's [TS]

00:53:20   got a really smart way I that's in a [TS]

00:53:23   bunch of the zombie alien or zombie [TS]

00:53:25   human bodies and that's all that matters [TS]

00:53:27   when they make the movie Joe a very [TS]

00:53:29   clever our director will come up with a [TS]

00:53:31   beautiful design for it i'm sure all [TS]

00:53:34   right let's do one more round before we [TS]

00:53:36   bring out our dad Joe well there is one [TS]

00:53:40   sci-fi series that i feel like i need to [TS]

00:53:42   get into this and I was thinking long [TS]

00:53:45   and hard about the cool ships that are [TS]

00:53:46   in the sci-fi series one of the notable [TS]

00:53:49   things of course the listener in [TS]

00:53:52   stargate a vaporizing a bunch of gold [TS]

00:53:55   pyramids on the the ground when they [TS]

00:53:57   shouldn't be there it's like I said any [TS]

00:53:59   visual for two seconds they didn't do [TS]

00:54:00   that much more and then I was thinking [TS]

00:54:02   well what's the coolest like the [TS]

00:54:05   penultimate ship in Stargate and i would [TS]

00:54:06   have to say is the Atlantis the the [TS]

00:54:09   actual snowflake city thing is a ship [TS]

00:54:11   that flies around sometimes when it has [TS]

00:54:13   power [TS]

00:54:14   it's a little a problematic that way [TS]

00:54:16   but that that would definitely be my [TS]

00:54:18   pick for her for that from from Stargate [TS]

00:54:21   stargate atlantis not my favorite of the [TS]

00:54:23   star key [TS]

00:54:24   but you're right that it is an [TS]

00:54:26   interesting the entire series it's [TS]

00:54:29   basically the city on this planet and [TS]

00:54:31   then but it turns out it's a spaceship [TS]

00:54:34   which is a fun fun little wrinkle but [TS]

00:54:37   it's got some engineering problems [TS]

00:54:38   getting old though I mean it's gonna run [TS]

00:54:40   down because it's been there so long [TS]

00:54:42   that I think stuff is broken that right [TS]

00:54:44   that's kind of why I can fly around [TS]

00:54:45   yeah and there's a you know a couple [TS]

00:54:47   labs where be careful if you open them [TS]

00:54:49   because maybe the ancients for studying [TS]

00:54:50   some sort of deadly secret that'll just [TS]

00:54:52   vaporize you kill you or wander around [TS]

00:54:54   stalking people so you know student [TS]

00:54:57   common areas [TS]

00:54:58   yeah okay hands and arms to yourself [TS]

00:55:01   while we remain indoors you got a [TS]

00:55:02   Stargate so you can pop around wherever [TS]

00:55:03   you want to go that's true that part [TS]

00:55:05   that feature is pretty awesome [TS]

00:55:06   ok John what do you have a lot more [TS]

00:55:09   ships on my list yeah I know I know this [TS]

00:55:12   is gonna last but a real pic it's hard [TS]

00:55:14   for me to choose and it's a down to two [TS]

00:55:16   is made a last-minute decision to to go [TS]

00:55:19   to go with my gut here and not pick the [TS]

00:55:22   obvious one [TS]

00:55:22   I'm going to pick the colonial Viper m9 [TS]

00:55:27   and i'm picking that because i had a [TS]

00:55:29   small obsession with this ship when I [TS]

00:55:31   was a kid I had 1i had a plastic you [TS]

00:55:34   know Viper toy from whatever the [TS]

00:55:36   original Battlestar Galactica series now [TS]

00:55:38   then we moved house at some point when I [TS]

00:55:39   was young and I lost it I lost that and [TS]

00:55:43   i lost a stormtrooper kenner figure both [TS]

00:55:45   of which were incredibly crushing but I [TS]

00:55:49   replace the Stormtrooper but i never got [TS]

00:55:51   another Viper and the reason i picked a [TS]

00:55:53   nice i spent a lot of time drawing on my [TS]

00:55:56   notebooks in school during spaceships [TS]

00:55:58   and I drew the Viper a lot like that was [TS]

00:56:01   my most drawing ship I think for my [TS]

00:56:03   during my spaceship drawing phase of my [TS]

00:56:06   life and I got pretty good at drawing [TS]

00:56:08   and drew drew drew cutaways of it i drew [TS]

00:56:11   the inside of the cockpit i do [TS]

00:56:12   everything about it even though like [TS]

00:56:14   that you know so few scenes reuse the [TS]

00:56:16   footage and over and over again and I'll [TS]

00:56:17   start um I was it was very obsessive [TS]

00:56:19   machine this ship I think it's really [TS]

00:56:21   neat and the specific model i'm picking [TS]

00:56:23   is the Viper mark to from the new series [TS]

00:56:26   from the rebooted [TS]

00:56:28   a Battlestar Galactica that is when they [TS]

00:56:30   showed like here's the old Vipers from [TS]

00:56:33   the first Cylon war and their [TS]

00:56:35   reimagining of what the old ones look [TS]

00:56:36   like is what I remember the old ones [TS]

00:56:38   looking like when I go back and look at [TS]

00:56:39   what that actually looks like they don't [TS]

00:56:41   look right to me [TS]

00:56:42   so that's a specific shape that I want I [TS]

00:56:44   just think that is a very iconic simple [TS]

00:56:48   ship and obviously that you have many [TS]

00:56:50   other similar iconic ships that I could [TS]

00:56:52   pick their competing with but I I looked [TS]

00:56:54   within myself and I said what were you [TS]

00:56:55   drawing in your notebooks most of the [TS]

00:56:56   time it was my first I love it [TS]

00:56:58   well John did your did your toy hyper [TS]

00:57:01   have the real shooting missiles or the [TS]

00:57:03   child safe ones child safe man [TS]

00:57:08   so sorry and I'm like I didn't know it's [TS]

00:57:11   for child safety i know is lame my way [TS]

00:57:14   he called my a Cylon like that the disk [TS]

00:57:17   shapes the Cylon think same thing they [TS]

00:57:19   would go pitifully just come out of an [TS]

00:57:21   extra quarter inch into sinha terrible [TS]

00:57:23   so you're not making the paper that has [TS]

00:57:25   a motorcycle attached for Galactica 1980 [TS]

00:57:27   no ma still on the board [TS]

00:57:33   Scott what's your choice i'll pick the [TS]

00:57:38   Viper with me you know i am tempted to [TS]

00:57:44   pick a star trek ship but i'm not going [TS]

00:57:46   to one of the things that is problematic [TS]

00:57:50   with faster than light ships is that [TS]

00:57:53   you're traveling that fast and thanks to [TS]

00:57:56   inertia you will end up the cruel end up [TS]

00:57:59   being GU right so Star Trek cells by [TS]

00:58:02   inertial dampeners other places just [TS]

00:58:04   don't bother explaining it [TS]

00:58:07   dan simmons Hyperion cantos which is a [TS]

00:58:12   set series of books has a class of ships [TS]

00:58:15   called the Archangel class starship that [TS]

00:58:18   solves this problem by [TS]

00:58:21   you know you you do I become liquefied [TS]

00:58:24   but luckily you are in a resurrection [TS]

00:58:27   crash so at the end of your journey you [TS]

00:58:30   are resurrected and you are reborn at [TS]

00:58:33   the end of your your your space flight [TS]

00:58:35   and so don't worry about this you know [TS]

00:58:37   so that I pick the Archangel class [TS]

00:58:40   starship that strip sounds terrible [TS]

00:58:42   yeah yeah but awesome you come back to [TS]

00:58:46   life at the end so you know exactly you [TS]

00:58:48   don't you don't you don't remember any [TS]

00:58:49   of it [TS]

00:58:49   yeah except for brief moments where [TS]

00:58:52   you're like fide you're gonna do you [TS]

00:58:55   remember the awful part of a cross [TS]

00:58:57   parasite thing on your chest [TS]

00:58:59   yeah that's true rest your life you do [TS]

00:59:02   have to have the cruciform on otherwise [TS]

00:59:04   you can't fly in the ship [TS]

00:59:05   well you know teacher it's a condition [TS]

00:59:07   of them we only accept Christ that's a [TS]

00:59:10   good one Scott Erica what do you have [TS]

00:59:13   that was a good one [TS]

00:59:14   hats off to ya thats off well thinking [TS]

00:59:17   about what I've got a feeling I got a [TS]

00:59:18   lot of kind of weird stuff you know if [TS]

00:59:21   holly gramatik ship the TARDIS which is [TS]

00:59:23   just strange you know the red dwarf is [TS]

00:59:25   coming clunky i feel like i need [TS]

00:59:26   something that's a little more you know [TS]

00:59:28   classic like sports car spaceship like [TS]

00:59:31   you know heroic let's let's go and fight [TS]

00:59:34   the bad guys so i am going to to go to [TS]

00:59:37   another show that starts with a be and [TS]

00:59:39   has a number but it's actually Blake [TS]

00:59:40   seven not Babylon 5 and i'm going to [TS]

00:59:43   pick the Liberator which is the ship [TS]

00:59:45   that they are on through the first three [TS]

00:59:47   seasons of the show it was actually an [TS]

00:59:49   abandoned spacecraft found very [TS]

00:59:51   mysteriously as our heroes were escaping [TS]

00:59:53   from a prison that they did not want up [TS]

00:59:56   belong in and it was just this soup [TS]

00:59:56   belong in and it was just this soup [TS]

01:00:00   her hot rod of a spaceship that they [TS]

01:00:02   didn't quite understand because it was [TS]

01:00:04   too far like technically advanced 444 [TS]

01:00:07   that time basically they found one of [TS]

01:00:10   the rooms was just full of treasure and [TS]

01:00:12   fancy clothes and jewels and stuff which [TS]

01:00:15   you know that's always a nice thing to [TS]

01:00:16   have on hand it also has to transport [TS]

01:00:19   technology little bracelets you can put [TS]

01:00:21   on and be transported down to the ship [TS]

01:00:23   which is not something that other ships [TS]

01:00:24   in this universe at that time had it [TS]

01:00:27   also had an AI system the computer [TS]

01:00:29   called itself is n and has kind of just [TS]

01:00:31   a very surly grumpy voice and when he [TS]

01:00:34   doesn't agree with what he's being told [TS]

01:00:36   to do will often just give the give the [TS]

01:00:38   crew the cold shoulder just not answer [TS]

01:00:40   questions and not talk to them for a [TS]

01:00:42   while i appreciate a computer with a [TS]

01:00:44   with a little bit of personality like [TS]

01:00:46   that but when it comes down to a [TS]

01:00:48   deliberate ER is way faster than any of [TS]

01:00:50   the Federation ships that it's that's [TS]

01:00:52   battling or trying to get away from and [TS]

01:00:54   it's just it's just kind of a cool place [TS]

01:00:56   to be great medical technology great [TS]

01:00:58   speed and and yeah until it gets eaten [TS]

01:01:02   by like bacteria or something that's [TS]

01:01:05   that's it has a very disgusting and [TS]

01:01:08   probably most disgusting end of any [TS]

01:01:09   spaceship I've ever seen but until that [TS]

01:01:11   point it's fantastic [TS]

01:01:14   like seven you didn't let me down Erica [TS]

01:01:16   you're all over the place you got some [TS]

01:01:17   doctor who is some red dwarf some flakes [TS]

01:01:19   of an amazing [TS]

01:01:20   well it's not that far off is no one's [TS]

01:01:22   gonna move to Canada it it's all from [TS]

01:01:24   one tiny island really it's true through [TS]

01:01:27   Monty what do you have [TS]

01:01:29   I'm gonna need a ruling on this because [TS]

01:01:31   it's a ship that has never actually went [TS]

01:01:33   into space and did not in fact have the [TS]

01:01:35   engines but i would like to pick the [TS]

01:01:37   Space Shuttle enterprise for sentimental [TS]

01:01:40   reasons chase and I would allow it [TS]

01:01:42   now it's a spaceship it just didn't it's [TS]

01:01:44   like saying it's not a car if you never [TS]

01:01:46   drive it out of the factory store car as [TS]

01:01:48   it all right i'll give it to you [TS]

01:01:49   yes monitoring then my pic is a orbital [TS]

01:01:53   vehicle designation ov-10 one the Space [TS]

01:01:56   Shuttle enterprise which has the [TS]

01:01:58   distinction of having been named after a [TS]

01:02:01   fictional spaceship that then in the [TS]

01:02:04   world of that spaceship the fictional [TS]

01:02:07   spaceship is then named after this space [TS]

01:02:08   shuttle which i think is fascinating [TS]

01:02:10   it was going to be named something else [TS]

01:02:12   but [TS]

01:02:13   nerds even back in the nineteen [TS]

01:02:14   seventies knew what was up and got a [TS]

01:02:16   petition together and said dear NASA we [TS]

01:02:18   hear you're going into space again call [TS]

01:02:20   it the enterprise please and NASA also [TS]

01:02:23   nerd said yeah you're right let's do [TS]

01:02:25   that [TS]

01:02:25   unfortunately they didn't save their [TS]

01:02:27   their gunpowder for one of the ships [TS]

01:02:29   that actually went into space that's [TS]

01:02:31   always the sad part of that story but it [TS]

01:02:33   is true there's that scene in is it the [TS]

01:02:35   motion picture where there's a the [TS]

01:02:37   models of the various spaceships and [TS]

01:02:39   Captain Kirk says all of these ships [TS]

01:02:41   have borne the name enterprise yeah [TS]

01:02:44   there is a pencil drawing now that [TS]

01:02:47   yeah I think Jeffrey's true all of them [TS]

01:02:49   but i'm not entirely sure like this one [TS]

01:02:51   that's like a weird hoop with a bit like [TS]

01:02:53   a line through it [TS]

01:02:55   ignore that one but the name enterprise [TS]

01:02:57   goes back to the British fleet like [TS]

01:03:00   there are tall ships that sailed with [TS]

01:03:03   sales called the enterprise that name [TS]

01:03:05   successfully makes it all the way to [TS]

01:03:06   star trek under interrupted because of [TS]

01:03:09   this space shuttle and i'm pleased to [TS]

01:03:10   pick an actual nearly spaceship [TS]

01:03:13   yep very nice see if after the ocean [TS]

01:03:15   liner draft Monty come on chip what do [TS]

01:03:19   you have a tough choices all around left [TS]

01:03:22   on my list but i think i'm going to go [TS]

01:03:24   with my heart and I talked about another [TS]

01:03:28   multitasking ship that didn't turn into [TS]

01:03:31   a robot but it was still a big [TS]

01:03:32   battleship in it when it when called [TS]

01:03:35   upon it could also be a really really [TS]

01:03:37   big gun and I'm talking about the Space [TS]

01:03:40   Battleship Yamato also known in the US [TS]

01:03:43   as the Argo on Star Blazers that was [TS]

01:03:47   that was the the space opera cartoon of [TS]

01:03:52   ya seventies and I was on my last trip I [TS]

01:03:55   applaud you it was on my list ah it was [TS]

01:03:58   it it's a it's a great-looking ship of [TS]

01:04:01   the notion of converting an ancient [TS]

01:04:05   Japanese an ancient sunk Japanese [TS]

01:04:07   battleship into a spaceborne battleship [TS]

01:04:11   made absolutely no sense to American [TS]

01:04:13   audiences so of course they a couple of [TS]

01:04:16   episodes in they said well it used to be [TS]

01:04:18   the model but we're renaming at the Argo [TS]

01:04:20   but it the look of it is great the [TS]

01:04:25   they played they mess around with scale [TS]

01:04:28   a little bit because somehow they [TS]

01:04:30   managed to get a few squadrons worth of [TS]

01:04:32   fighter planes into something that is [TS]

01:04:35   basically just you know a battleship [TS]

01:04:36   battleships aren't that big but it looks [TS]

01:04:40   great and it has a super cool wave [TS]

01:04:42   motion gun the Argo love the wave motion [TS]

01:04:45   gun [TS]

01:04:46   yeah I think that was was that not [TS]

01:04:47   loving the idea there was hey this is a [TS]

01:04:49   this is a really notable ship from [TS]

01:04:52   japanese history that was sunk by the [TS]

01:04:55   Americans let's change the name for the [TS]

01:04:57   American audience but haha yeah but but [TS]

01:05:00   surprisingly they they left in the [TS]

01:05:02   references to the Yamato in the in the [TS]

01:05:04   early episodes [TS]

01:05:05   yeah it was very clearly they think they [TS]

01:05:07   very clearly left that in and the the [TS]

01:05:10   aesthetic of that show just holds up and [TS]

01:05:12   there is in the last couple of years [TS]

01:05:14   there's been a remake of the original [TS]

01:05:16   series that pretty much follows the [TS]

01:05:18   storyline and most of the character and [TS]

01:05:21   ship designs and all that stuff just [TS]

01:05:23   cutting edge animation and it's so [TS]

01:05:25   wonderful you like boats in space huh [TS]

01:05:27   yeah yeah three boats in space and [TS]

01:05:31   aircraft carrier into battleships wait [TS]

01:05:33   wait i bring out my dad Brian what do [TS]

01:05:35   you have this would have been my number [TS]

01:05:37   one pick had it not been for draft [TS]

01:05:39   strategy and picking things that I was [TS]

01:05:41   sure p other people picked because [TS]

01:05:43   nobody's picked this it's a relatively [TS]

01:05:45   obscure this is a spaceship from easily [TS]

01:05:48   when my top 5 video games with past [TS]

01:05:50   decade FTL colon faster-than-light stars [TS]

01:05:54   the spaceship the Kestrel this game is [TS]

01:05:57   one where you navigate a spaceship to [TS]

01:06:02   space but not the star fox actually [TS]

01:06:04   piloting the ship kind of way but I from [TS]

01:06:06   the bridge top-down you send men over to [TS]

01:06:09   the engine room to repair the engines [TS]

01:06:11   while also having somebody maximize the [TS]

01:06:13   the weapons while you're fighting other [TS]

01:06:15   people but then you have to change the [TS]

01:06:16   power of the ship to reroute power of to [TS]

01:06:19   the doors because of intruders etc it's [TS]

01:06:21   incredible the Kestrel is the main ship [TS]

01:06:23   in it and I've spent so many hours [TS]

01:06:25   endless hours is a roguelike game so you [TS]

01:06:27   get to play for maybe an hour hour and a [TS]

01:06:30   half and then the game is over and you [TS]

01:06:31   get an arcade-style score but the [TS]

01:06:33   Kestrel is where you spend all your time [TS]

01:06:35   trying to recruit members to your fleet [TS]

01:06:38   and flying through to the Federation [TS]

01:06:41   base or whatever at the end of the game [TS]

01:06:43   to try to get the get all your [TS]

01:06:45   information over there it's it's [TS]

01:06:47   incredible it's like ten dollars on the [TS]

01:06:49   ipad and steam but this game is one my [TS]

01:06:51   favorites ever and the spaceship from it [TS]

01:06:53   the casserole is also the name of my [TS]

01:06:55   chromecast fun fact [TS]

01:06:56   so this would have been my number one if [TS]

01:06:58   it weren't for actually having to pick [TS]

01:07:00   other things i thought other people [TS]

01:07:01   would pick but the Kestrel from FTL [TS]

01:07:04   colon faster than light which is most [TS]

01:07:06   redundant video game title I've ever [TS]

01:07:08   seen ya was just explaining you know [TS]

01:07:10   what it what it could be like ET the [TS]

01:07:13   extra-terrestrial mmhmm yeah that is an [TS]

01:07:16   infuriating game that I am completely [TS]

01:07:18   addicted to know exactly do you do fact [TS]

01:07:21   that it's roguelike and you just keep [TS]

01:07:23   playing and playing and playing so you [TS]

01:07:24   get a high enough score to actually beat [TS]

01:07:25   the game is fantastic you know you can [TS]

01:07:27   play 45 minutes you can play for two [TS]

01:07:29   hours it's fantastic [TS]

01:07:31   alright with my ancestral choice the [TS]

01:07:33   castro with my towards the final pick of [TS]

01:07:35   of the proper four rounds of the draft [TS]

01:07:38   and then we'll bring out our dead i have [TS]

01:07:40   a tough choice here too i was thinking [TS]

01:07:42   of going with a real spaceship to [TS]

01:07:44   because I never said fictional and [TS]

01:07:47   that's what I'm going to do i am going [TS]

01:07:48   with the Voyager series of spacecraft [TS]

01:07:51   from NASA [TS]

01:07:52   ok so first off Voyager 1 and 2 day [TS]

01:07:56   explore planets that have not been [TS]

01:07:58   explored before they went to Jupiter and [TS]

01:08:01   Saturn voyeur to also went to Uranus and [TS]

01:08:04   Neptune they are so they're still giving [TS]

01:08:06   important data from the far reaches of [TS]

01:08:09   our solar system at the edge of the [TS]

01:08:11   solar system incredibly important [TS]

01:08:12   spacecraft to the expansion of human [TS]

01:08:16   knowledge also and guest stars and star [TS]

01:08:20   trek movie they behave fictional and [TS]

01:08:23   non-fictional Voyager it goes even [TS]

01:08:26   further and is found by a machine [TS]

01:08:28   culture some might even say it was the [TS]

01:08:29   board but who knows is given its own [TS]

01:08:31   intelligence and returns to Earth and a [TS]

01:08:33   giant cloud and Star Trek the motion [TS]

01:08:35   picture so it does double duty it is a [TS]

01:08:37   science fictional spacecraft as well as [TS]

01:08:41   a couple of real spacecraft that were [TS]

01:08:43   awesome [TS]

01:08:43   so that's nice intentionally podcast [TS]

01:08:46   come on i know i know i will tell you [TS]

01:08:48   all about the history of voyager 8 or [TS]

01:08:51   whatever what Voyager was [TS]

01:08:52   it went because you wager 6.46 wages [TS]

01:08:56   I don't know they ran out of Voyager it [TS]

01:08:58   turns out the feature feature remains [TS]

01:09:00   searching for its creator [TS]

01:09:02   so that's my choice ok we have done four [TS]

01:09:05   rounds of the spaceship draft but I'm [TS]

01:09:07   sure everybody else like me has a long [TS]

01:09:09   list of spaceships that they thought [TS]

01:09:11   about picking and didn't and so now I [TS]

01:09:14   ask you to bring out your dead and tell [TS]

01:09:15   me what else was on your draft list that [TS]

01:09:18   didn't get picked Joe what did you have [TS]

01:09:20   that you didn't end up drafting ok so i [TS]

01:09:23   had the enterprise-e sovereign-class [TS]

01:09:26   ship [TS]

01:09:27   oh yeah like I woke up yeah yeah I I [TS]

01:09:29   like the design of it a lot it's very [TS]

01:09:31   cool it's very sleek the interior [TS]

01:09:33   lighting is John notice this little [TS]

01:09:35   better on the on the even it is indeed [TS]

01:09:37   it has all of the same features and also [TS]

01:09:40   has more weapons better shields etc etc [TS]

01:09:42   but i have a certain attachment to the [TS]

01:09:45   the D so that's why I picked it and I [TS]

01:09:47   didn't want to just pick enterprises [TS]

01:09:49   here with the rest of the show the [TS]

01:09:52   Sutherland which is the nebula class [TS]

01:09:55   ship that one was a neat design and [TS]

01:09:57   development specifically has the little [TS]

01:09:59   sort of triangle thing on the top of it [TS]

01:10:01   sort of a weapons platform at it it's [TS]

01:10:06   not that noticeable otherwise a better [TS]

01:10:08   but I just like it and then there's the [TS]

01:10:09   Thunderchild which was the first secure [TS]

01:10:10   a class ship you see in first contact [TS]

01:10:12   but i don't really super enjoy it [TS]

01:10:14   anymore because it always makes me think [TS]

01:10:15   of enterprise now because they wanted to [TS]

01:10:17   reuse that design for the next one and [TS]

01:10:19   it makes me angry now so I I had it on [TS]

01:10:22   there as a backup an emergency where you [TS]

01:10:25   really are going to feel conflicted when [TS]

01:10:27   Star Trek beyond comes out aren't you [TS]

01:10:29   yes never that trailer up so did that [TS]

01:10:33   there's the ikea snicker bar which is [TS]

01:10:35   the the next bar where the it was a name [TS]

01:10:38   assigned after we saw the two Klingon [TS]

01:10:40   ships at the end of that Star Trek next [TS]

01:10:44   generation finale the ones that the [TS]

01:10:46   enterprise blows up but they turn out to [TS]

01:10:48   be the capital ships that they reuse [TS]

01:10:49   later on deep space 9 [TS]

01:10:51   it's an interesting design that harkens [TS]

01:10:53   back to what Matt Jeffries had [TS]

01:10:54   originally done for the Klingon cruisers [TS]

01:10:55   but more updated and also better looking [TS]

01:10:59   than the porch class so I I like that [TS]

01:11:01   one [TS]

01:11:01   and then of course i had the defines on [TS]

01:11:03   here but as Jonathan mentioned things [TS]

01:11:06   blowing up is not great and the Defiant [TS]

01:11:08   unfortunately spoiler has a minor [TS]

01:11:12   problem with it [TS]

01:11:13   detonating from certain energy weapon [TS]

01:11:17   and so I there there's another one that [TS]

01:11:18   was rechristened later on as happens in [TS]

01:11:22   Star Trek and and so it's it's a good [TS]

01:11:26   it's a tough little ship [TS]

01:11:27   yeah and I I like it's cute it doesn't [TS]

01:11:30   have the it's a cute little worship it [TS]

01:11:32   doesn't have the new cells and [TS]

01:11:34   everything exactly position like a [TS]

01:11:35   starship Starfleet ship normally does so [TS]

01:11:39   it makes it look pretty unique defined [TS]

01:11:42   as also on mother yeah it was all I had [TS]

01:11:44   the enterprise-e and the defined on my [TS]

01:11:45   list too [TS]

01:11:46   very good i watch star trek that didn't [TS]

01:11:49   get pic that's ok I i do i was also with [TS]

01:11:52   you if I couldn't get the 1701 I was [TS]

01:11:53   going to go to the enterprise-e next I [TS]

01:11:55   was gonna get an enterprise one way or [TS]

01:11:56   another [TS]

01:11:57   John what do you have on your on your [TS]

01:12:00   list that you didn't pick someone must [TS]

01:12:02   regret not getting too obviously is the [TS]

01:12:04   income t65 x-wing one iconic ship [TS]

01:12:07   panelists x-wing started strong as I had [TS]

01:12:10   a choice to make their i went with the [TS]

01:12:12   big one the executive class starts for [TS]

01:12:15   big just because I feel like you're [TS]

01:12:17   gonna get started for you might look at [TS]

01:12:19   the big one the big one is their little [TS]

01:12:20   ones look so drinking and it's got this [TS]

01:12:22   it's got the seat warmers and the [TS]

01:12:23   leather and the entertainment package [TS]

01:12:25   the whole thing [TS]

01:12:25   yeah my enterprise I think the 2009 [TS]

01:12:29   reboot 1i really like that redesign [TS]

01:12:31   especially kind of the groovy 60s kind [TS]

01:12:33   of chrome look I even like ass players I [TS]

01:12:35   think the cells are little close [TS]

01:12:37   together for my taste but that's my only [TS]

01:12:38   minor point out but I really think [TS]

01:12:40   that's a good design it was on my list [TS]

01:12:41   too [TS]

01:12:42   yea high and that's mostly because i [TS]

01:12:43   couldn't find the the classic enterprise [TS]

01:12:46   that I kept going to all the wikipedia [TS]

01:12:47   pages and trying to see where is the one [TS]

01:12:49   that I really like that it's not the ER [TS]

01:12:51   been looking all the ones you guys pick [TS]

01:12:53   it's it's not the original anyway I'm [TS]

01:12:55   i'm confused about my enterprises but i [TS]

01:12:57   really do like to those my 1i had slay [TS]

01:12:58   one on there because that's a great ship [TS]

01:13:00   coolship a very very odd show ya a [TS]

01:13:03   discovery from 2001 which i think is the [TS]

01:13:06   most realistic fake ship and the thing [TS]

01:13:08   because it's realistic and boring and I [TS]

01:13:10   like a ship that is a challenge [TS]

01:13:12   definitely on health that was definitely [TS]

01:13:13   on my list and I almost pick that one [TS]

01:13:15   that [TS]

01:13:15   that's a very interesting looking ship [TS]

01:13:17   murderous say is I'd right it's like a [TS]

01:13:19   puzzle ship it's like you're up for a [TS]

01:13:21   challenge if you want to be a little [TS]

01:13:22   adversarial with your ship and house not [TS]

01:13:24   the ship but the heat comes with the [TS]

01:13:25   ship and he's a handful [TS]

01:13:27   yeah I had a lot of anime stuff on there [TS]

01:13:31   at the sdf-1 Varitek Fighter Alpha [TS]

01:13:32   fighter is basically everything involved [TS]

01:13:35   that the Robotech came out of the two [TS]

01:13:37   Voltron's were contending in there [TS]

01:13:39   whether I was gonna pick individual [TS]

01:13:41   lines of the whole water on because they [TS]

01:13:42   hang out in space and everything and of [TS]

01:13:43   course add serenity and a couple of [TS]

01:13:47   things that other people pick on that [TS]

01:13:48   that's pretty much where I cough my life [TS]

01:13:49   i didn't i didn't go down into video [TS]

01:13:51   games chips because I just felt like it [TS]

01:13:53   would pollute my list to my china we [TS]

01:13:55   wouldn't get that mix it's true [TS]

01:13:57   Scott what do you have that we didn't [TS]

01:13:58   hear from you I was the star wars ships [TS]

01:14:01   that I had John mentioned the executive [TS]

01:14:03   class super star destroyer [TS]

01:14:05   I just think 11 mile long ship but how [TS]

01:14:09   can he not pickin yeah the Derrick's [TS]

01:14:12   class Romulan warbird a bird-of-prey no [TS]

01:14:16   war bird yeah Warburton never pray they [TS]

01:14:20   don't pray anymore they will are one of [TS]

01:14:23   my favorite alien ships and star trek I [TS]

01:14:25   had the USS Prometheus which is an [TS]

01:14:28   experimental ship that breaks off into [TS]

01:14:30   three different ships that's cool I've [TS]

01:14:32   always had a soft spot for the Excelsior [TS]

01:14:34   which was the failed transwarp Drive [TS]

01:14:36   also later captain by Sulu [TS]

01:14:39   I think it looks cool i had the Cylon [TS]

01:14:42   Raider and Rama Rama from Rondo and uh [TS]

01:14:48   exactly and the heart of gold for [TS]

01:14:51   pictures got to the countless articles i [TS]

01:14:53   was referring to before that I thought [TS]

01:14:55   someone would pick about doesn't really [TS]

01:14:56   take you where you want to go but where [TS]

01:14:58   you need to go yeah story once you and [TS]

01:15:00   by the way I forgot my protest pick my [TS]

01:15:02   protest if I had gotten sufficiently [TS]

01:15:04   angry with Susan's officiating which is [TS]

01:15:06   close to tell you was a spaceship earth [TS]

01:15:08   they call fall outside epcot I'd that [TS]

01:15:11   lay out the actual planet [TS]

01:15:12   okay i'm gonna make the entire planet [TS]

01:15:14   interesting yeah I'd lost as much space [TS]

01:15:17   ship as the Death Star it's not [TS]

01:15:19   oh and that's not but the roller coaster [TS]

01:15:21   is really cause you're totally station [TS]

01:15:23   no they were not the roller coasters [TS]

01:15:25   earth the fictional rocket you are [TS]

01:15:27   riding when you enter the world of space [TS]

01:15:30   man that's real and I understood the [TS]

01:15:32   pitch [TS]

01:15:33   Erica what do you have for us we didn't [TS]

01:15:36   get Ted what chip had mentioned if the [TS]

01:15:38   TARDIS was taking he was thinking of [TS]

01:15:40   taking the master TARDIS not me I would [TS]

01:15:42   have taken the Rani's TARDIS because it [TS]

01:15:45   had a cool marble the court on the [TS]

01:15:46   inside its got a dinosaur in a jar and [TS]

01:15:49   instead of a column that goes up and [TS]

01:15:50   down it's got a rotating pair of [TS]

01:15:52   metallic rings which looks super cool [TS]

01:15:54   another doctor who ship from underworld [TS]

01:15:57   the p7e was a spaceship from the planet [TS]

01:16:01   manuals and when the minion civilization [TS]

01:16:03   was destroyed by a nuclear war [TS]

01:16:05   p 7t took the race banks of all of their [TS]

01:16:08   people left for the stars and eventually [TS]

01:16:10   they got caught in a nebula where the [TS]

01:16:12   ship was basically turned into a planet [TS]

01:16:14   which is kind of a cool thing and there [TS]

01:16:15   was all this like Greek mythology stuff [TS]

01:16:17   so p 7t turned out to be kind of any [TS]

01:16:19   place to live if you didn't mind you [TS]

01:16:22   know totalitarian rule there was that [TS]

01:16:24   too [TS]

01:16:24   and although all the crawl the green [TS]

01:16:25   screen to yes [TS]

01:16:28   yeah that's true was entirely green [TS]

01:16:30   screen it was it was the prequels before [TS]

01:16:33   the prequel the actual planet was just [TS]

01:16:35   green screen everywhere that was there [TS]

01:16:38   was strange how it was designed that way [TS]

01:16:40   yeah the activated they had no budget [TS]

01:16:42   and I've been loaded they may do gosh [TS]

01:16:44   they may do to keep my marriage happy I [TS]

01:16:48   was required to mention Benny's [TS]

01:16:50   spaceship spaceship spaceship from the [TS]

01:16:53   lego movie which is one of the [TS]

01:16:55   spaceships that is surrounding me right [TS]

01:16:57   now the Blake's 7 the Scorpio is the [TS]

01:17:01   ship that came after the Liberator it's [TS]

01:17:03   not quite as cool as the Liberator and [TS]

01:17:05   its computer is named slave and is [TS]

01:17:07   actually kind of creepy so that is why [TS]

01:17:08   did not pick it earlier another red [TS]

01:17:11   dwarf thing [TS]

01:17:12   starbug starbug is one of the little [TS]

01:17:15   transports things out of red dwarf and [TS]

01:17:16   the app are forced to live in it for a [TS]

01:17:18   while and it's just one of the most [TS]

01:17:19   adorable little ship models it looks [TS]

01:17:21   like a little little bug [TS]

01:17:23   it's like a little rounded run bubbles [TS]

01:17:25   all stuck together four feet and I just [TS]

01:17:27   think it's very cute [TS]

01:17:28   it got to go with some Babylon 5 [TS]

01:17:31   I was was going to even though it looks [TS]

01:17:33   like a plucked chicken in space [TS]

01:17:35   I appreciate the white star [TS]

01:17:38   because oh yeah in part 44 what it means [TS]

01:17:41   for the characters on the show when they [TS]

01:17:42   get this new class of ships a bit like [TS]

01:17:44   you know takes them to the next level [TS]

01:17:46   and it's exciting and it it's a [TS]

01:17:48   animation cool i don't care what JMS [TS]

01:17:50   says thank you [TS]

01:17:52   hey I wrote it down but i deleted it [TS]

01:17:53   because of what you had said but I agree [TS]

01:17:57   it is definitely a cool ship to what the [TS]

01:17:59   characters [TS]

01:18:00   mhm yep and it's you know the [TS]

01:18:02   combination of technologies from two [TS]

01:18:04   different races and it did kind of you [TS]

01:18:06   know blows a lot of the other ships out [TS]

01:18:07   of the water also Babylon 5 [TS]

01:18:11   I really appreciate the Starfury simply [TS]

01:18:13   a way that they move in space they don't [TS]

01:18:16   follow like you know regular spaceship [TS]

01:18:18   rules from a lot of TV shows that i grew [TS]

01:18:20   up watching they can pivot and spin and [TS]

01:18:22   and actually pay attention to the way [TS]

01:18:23   physics would for the most part working [TS]

01:18:25   space which i think is a pretty neat [TS]

01:18:27   thing they're they're a they're x-wings [TS]

01:18:30   informed by real physics [TS]

01:18:32   basically yeah that is basically what [TS]

01:18:35   they are and what if we're going purely [TS]

01:18:38   on what things look like i did have the [TS]

01:18:39   minbari war cruiser on my list but Jason [TS]

01:18:41   took that my actual next race right [TS]

01:18:43   after that was the minbari flier which [TS]

01:18:45   is a much sort of like a little personal [TS]

01:18:47   kind of a ship that that people can tool [TS]

01:18:49   around it all by themselves and it's [TS]

01:18:51   it's also got sort of like a purpley [TS]

01:18:54   turquoise blue to it and it's got little [TS]

01:18:55   fans and it just looks very organic and [TS]

01:18:57   and it's as if any little thing so I [TS]

01:19:00   like that but possibly my favorite [TS]

01:19:03   Earthship from Babylon 5 is the EAS [TS]

01:19:06   Cortez which is a ginormous ship that is [TS]

01:19:10   under the command of a captain jack [TS]

01:19:11   Maynard who is played by the fellow who [TS]

01:19:14   played dr. Jacoby on Twin Peaks so [TS]

01:19:15   automatically it's extra cool but if [TS]

01:19:18   this huge ship that goes out and [TS]

01:19:19   explores the universe and builds [TS]

01:19:21   jumpgates so that other ships can travel [TS]

01:19:23   from place to place which i think is [TS]

01:19:25   neat and I was also going to pick the [TS]

01:19:28   Black Lion from Voltron that all and and [TS]

01:19:32   i was going to pick from the person in [TS]

01:19:34   mccaffrey spurn series i was going to [TS]

01:19:36   pick Avis until I realized that that was [TS]

01:19:38   actually an artificial intelligence and [TS]

01:19:40   not a spaceship so I have withdrawn that [TS]

01:19:42   from my list [TS]

01:19:43   it's tricky sometimes and I see ships in [TS]

01:19:46   Turkey [TS]

01:19:46   yeah this there's no AI or spaceship [TS]

01:19:48   podcast you know yet [TS]

01:19:51   Monty what did you have that you didn't [TS]

01:19:53   haha well I had a couple things fighting [TS]

01:19:55   it out for my real spaceship slot that I [TS]

01:19:57   pick went with the enterprise on my [TS]

01:20:00   other options were Soviet Sputnik 2 [TS]

01:20:02   which is the Sputnik that carried like [TS]

01:20:05   the dog into space around that it was [TS]

01:20:07   the first thing that could actually be [TS]

01:20:09   called a spaceship with a passenger and [TS]

01:20:12   my other option for that was going to be [TS]

01:20:13   juno currently in the news orbiting [TS]

01:20:16   Jupiter yep i considered a chair with 47 [TS]

01:20:20   Rockets attached which was allegedly [TS]

01:20:22   used by a man named one who and 2000 BC [TS]

01:20:25   to take him into space [TS]

01:20:28   most people including Mythbusters view [TS]

01:20:30   this is fictional but what the heck most [TS]

01:20:32   of these spaceships are fictional so I [TS]

01:20:34   think should've been fine [TS]

01:20:35   the plan 9 UFO not only has a radio [TS]

01:20:38   resurrect the dead which would come in [TS]

01:20:39   handy but it could be used as a hubcap [TS]

01:20:41   on a 57 Chevy and my only other one that [TS]

01:20:46   was going to have to use if everything [TS]

01:20:47   else got rejected was the cab written by [TS]

01:20:50   space cabbie space can be of course is a [TS]

01:20:53   marvel comics character who drives a cab [TS]

01:20:57   through space of course of course why [TS]

01:21:00   not why not [TS]

01:21:02   sometimes you gotta get somewhere you [TS]

01:21:03   don't have a spaceship you have to get [TS]

01:21:04   ice cap you got to pick up some money [TS]

01:21:06   somehow [TS]

01:21:07   why not driving people around I'm really [TS]

01:21:09   mad that space uber is going to put that [TS]

01:21:10   guy out of a job but you know yeah you [TS]

01:21:12   got it disrupt everything [TS]

01:21:15   chip what did you have well there's been [TS]

01:21:17   a depressing lack of space Winnebagos in [TS]

01:21:19   this draft so the hero five from [TS]

01:21:23   spaceballs is called for [TS]

01:21:25   ok there's also a depressing amount of [TS]

01:21:27   space Winnebagos in that movie one on [TS]

01:21:31   too many I was also thinking about the [TS]

01:21:34   heart of gold in Star Trek world of the [TS]

01:21:37   USS reliant which is I think the first [TS]

01:21:41   really get in the classic series pretty [TS]

01:21:44   much if you saw way if you saw a [TS]

01:21:46   federation ship was a redress to [TS]

01:21:48   enterprise rental and this was the first [TS]

01:21:51   time that we got to see a different look [TS]

01:21:54   for the ship and that [TS]

01:21:55   and up the whole that opened up the [TS]

01:21:58   whole universe for future movies and TV [TS]

01:22:00   shows the Romulan warbird when it [TS]

01:22:04   appears in the know that's that's like [TS]

01:22:07   the one good moment in the first season [TS]

01:22:09   of star trek next turn right is when the [TS]

01:22:11   warbird shows yeah that's that [TS]

01:22:13   deidara decks class that uh you [TS]

01:22:16   mentioned that Saudi Scott mentioned [TS]

01:22:17   yeah and uh and as far as enterprises go [TS]

01:22:22   the the Constitution refit the star trek [TS]

01:22:26   one through six enterprise is by far my [TS]

01:22:29   favorite I I much prefer that to the JJ [TS]

01:22:35   Abrams version which just looks like a [TS]

01:22:37   barge to me Mom in a star wars a funnily [TS]

01:22:43   enough when I was a kid it wasn't the [TS]

01:22:45   x-wing that did it for me it was the [TS]

01:22:46   y-wing uh I i adored the y-wing and i [TS]

01:22:50   kinda liked even as a kid watching that [TS]

01:22:52   movie and seeing that [TS]

01:22:54   yeah here's the Bombers that are really [TS]

01:22:55   supposed to take out the the Death Star [TS]

01:23:00   and they have a design that lends itself [TS]

01:23:02   to that and they go through there and [TS]

01:23:04   and makes it all the more remarkable [TS]

01:23:07   that are young are young Luke Skywalker [TS]

01:23:09   safes day the the phoenix from science [TS]

01:23:15   and engineering gatchaman AKA battle of [TS]

01:23:16   the planets it's a multitasker [TS]

01:23:19   it's a it's a spaceship it's a carrier [TS]

01:23:22   and it's blowtorch and the i did have a [TS]

01:23:25   fuck video game in there the the fighter [TS]

01:23:28   from Vanguard at the 1981 arcade game [TS]

01:23:31   that allows you to shoot in multiple [TS]

01:23:33   directions and fly through an energy pot [TS]

01:23:36   and just smash through other spaceships [TS]

01:23:38   and walls that was great and finally my [TS]

01:23:41   last dead bringing my multitasking theme [TS]

01:23:45   home not just one ship but fifteen ships [TS]

01:23:49   not just spaceships but also sport [TS]

01:23:52   utility vehicles and helicopters the [TS]

01:23:55   gestalt a vehicle Voltron lot of Ultron [TS]

01:23:58   happening here [TS]

01:23:59   Ultron red dwarf surprising amounts of [TS]

01:24:01   both Brian what did you have left [TS]

01:24:04   well my most legitimate one that I had [TS]

01:24:06   was a TIE fighters from Star Wars I [TS]

01:24:08   I free to favorite one of the satiny [TS]

01:24:11   yeah I have everything that relates to [TS]

01:24:13   you my I think they look the coolest of [TS]

01:24:16   any of the star warships I too had [TS]

01:24:19   discovery one heart of gold on my list [TS]

01:24:22   the only one that no one's mentioned yet [TS]

01:24:23   is the Nostromo from my alien which is [TS]

01:24:26   one that was on my list infested though [TS]

01:24:29   you don't want that one that's true i [TS]

01:24:31   like it it's very atmospheric and creepy [TS]

01:24:33   and there's a cat on it he shipped from [TS]

01:24:37   district nine big looming creepy [TS]

01:24:40   mysterious ship in johannesburg the [TS]

01:24:44   thing from contact with the hell that is [TS]

01:24:46   yeah I had that on my life to the [TS]

01:24:47   machine from Carter I mean the spaceship [TS]

01:24:49   itself is like a bubble right but it's [TS]

01:24:51   got the crazy like gyroscope thing that [TS]

01:24:53   launches it into the wormhole right now [TS]

01:24:57   it was a I didn't have much to say about [TS]

01:24:58   it is just the thing from contact and [TS]

01:25:00   really liked watching i also had you [TS]

01:25:02   know and the international space station [TS]

01:25:05   on my list from the video game room I [TS]

01:25:07   have ratchet and clank spaceship which I [TS]

01:25:10   can't remember the name of and samus [TS]

01:25:12   around spaceship from the Metroid Prime [TS]

01:25:13   series which does not have a name except [TS]

01:25:15   for samus's gunship and the things that [TS]

01:25:17   were too tired to argue were spaceships [TS]

01:25:20   whir Wheatley from Portal 2 and bender [TS]

01:25:23   from futurama as seen in episode 3 20 [TS]

01:25:26   God fellas when he is flying through [TS]

01:25:28   space and harboring a a civilization on [TS]

01:25:32   his chest and then talks to God I didn't [TS]

01:25:35   want to argue that so here I am for your [TS]

01:25:37   consideration the asset has special [TS]

01:25:39   place and I'm glad that we didn't have [TS]

01:25:40   to get there Brian I'm gone for he was [TS]

01:25:43   awful generous this time how to yeah [TS]

01:25:45   yeah i think those might have been [TS]

01:25:47   rejected but you never know in the [TS]

01:25:49   moment I might have just proved [TS]

01:25:50   everything sounds draft unless I approve [TS]

01:25:52   something controversially here's what i [TS]

01:25:55   have left I had Moya the Leviathan that [TS]

01:25:58   is the spaceship in farscape a living [TS]

01:26:01   creature by that that they that is also [TS]

01:26:04   a spaceship and they and we hear about [TS]

01:26:07   her mood from the pilot the pilot is and [TS]

01:26:10   some of the other characters are sort of [TS]

01:26:11   emotionally attached to the to the [TS]

01:26:13   spaceship and she had a baby at one [TS]

01:26:15   point who is also a spaceship in during [TS]

01:26:18   the run at that show so i think that was [TS]

01:26:19   a very interesting spaceship care [TS]

01:26:22   sir I really like the Vorlon cruiser and [TS]

01:26:26   transport ship both the designs of both [TS]

01:26:28   of those from Babylon 5 they are kind of [TS]

01:26:30   shimmery the shimmery and the kind of [TS]

01:26:31   like a flower almost or a plant of some [TS]

01:26:34   sort that kind of garlic got a bit yea [TS]

01:26:36   big stock and then a little Cape kind of [TS]

01:26:38   thing in the back there really neat i [TS]

01:26:41   was going to mention the from Doctor Who [TS]

01:26:45   the code the Dalek saucer only because [TS]

01:26:48   it's hilarious it's just a flying saucer [TS]

01:26:50   and they go with it and they just yes [TS]

01:26:52   they are in a flying saucer [TS]

01:26:54   you just have to I just remember might [TS]

01:26:56   like one of the important ones i forgot [TS]

01:26:58   to put my list [TS]

01:26:58   yeah me too from you knew this was going [TS]

01:27:01   to happen it's happening late in the [TS]

01:27:02   game from the Micronauts of course the [TS]

01:27:04   microbes ship hms endeavor as well as [TS]

01:27:08   the bioship which is just a very large [TS]

01:27:10   version of the character biotron who is [TS]

01:27:12   a ship the the original Romulan [TS]

01:27:16   bird-of-prey I had on my list from [TS]

01:27:19   balance of terror with a mark leonard is [TS]

01:27:22   the commander I had that I had that that [TS]

01:27:25   model and I it was the hardest thing to [TS]

01:27:28   get that the the whole bird on the [TS]

01:27:30   bottom as a decal and I can I and I tore [TS]

01:27:33   it and it was it uh how the Romulans do [TS]

01:27:36   it wasn't the snap together model one [TS]

01:27:38   where you had the wet decal that you put [TS]

01:27:40   over the whole bottle was not it was a [TS]

01:27:41   glue together but then yes you have a [TS]

01:27:43   white decal that you have to put on the [TS]

01:27:44   bottom of it had the snap together one [TS]

01:27:46   with a decal it was it was a smaller [TS]

01:27:48   version of the same problem [TS]

01:27:49   yeah yeah butBut I I thought that was a [TS]

01:27:51   cool weird vessel in an early start Trek [TS]

01:27:54   there weren't that many spaceship models [TS]

01:27:55   really and that was an interesting one [TS]

01:27:57   from the comic book saga the main [TS]

01:28:00   characters travel a lot in a tree that [TS]

01:28:03   is also a spaceship and I always thought [TS]

01:28:05   that was kinda cool and there's a key [TS]

01:28:06   moment where they they they mentioned [TS]

01:28:09   something about having to be on the on [TS]

01:28:12   the radar because the radar of all the [TS]

01:28:14   spaceships is detecting all the metal [TS]

01:28:15   objects around them and they realize oh [TS]

01:28:17   our ship is made of wood they can't see [TS]

01:28:20   us which is a pretty cool moment because [TS]

01:28:22   it's a tree and then finally since uh [TS]

01:28:27   since chip mentioned the fighter from [TS]

01:28:31   Vanguard i'll just say I don't know that [TS]

01:28:34   spaceship to fly around in [TS]

01:28:36   defender and that's it we're done [TS]

01:28:38   nothing turns on a dime [TS]

01:28:40   it's amazing smart bomb smart behind I [TS]

01:28:43   know how about that and that's it [TS]

01:28:45   what did we learn nothing except that [TS]

01:28:48   there are lots of spaceships and that's [TS]

01:28:50   how i like it so I'd like to thank my [TS]

01:28:53   panel for joining me and for picking [TS]

01:28:55   some spaceships i'm going to thank them [TS]

01:28:56   in turn now and tell you what they got [TS]

01:28:58   tell them what they won Joe rosenstiel [TS]

01:29:35   its it could happen [TS]

01:29:36   scalability you had the ncc 1701 deal [TS]

01:30:00   cloaked they can doesn't end well for [TS]

01:30:02   that ship though detailed things to it [TS]
