  instrument i refused any instruction or [TS]

  any information about them and just sat [TS]

  at them and made my own clink clink boom [TS]

  boom well because they're because it had [TS]

  this electricity and they were you know [TS]

  they were fairly loud around [TS]

  think about that one moment can get out [TS]

  oh well boo boo and so I would play [TS]

  these things i never got the two mallets [TS]

  per hand business at all i just i just [TS]

  had one mallapur hand and but i would do [TS]

  the I would do the rapid like doing [TS]

  really kind of stuff with the [TS]

  fast-moving balance and boy did I have a [TS]

  time I had as much i had so much of a [TS]

  time that then briefly this was the best [TS]

  the best part of this and I had [TS]

  completely forgotten until now my dad [TS]

  said you know what i should do since I [TS]

  never play the vibes but you're getting [TS]

  pretty good at it [TS]

  I've always been intrigued by the steel [TS]

  drum and there was brief moment where he [TS]

  was me like the thing that the guys play [TS]

  like a beach bar [TS]

  yeah that's right the tunes the like [TS]

  it's like a 55-gallon drum that's been [TS]

  tuned [TS]

  it's been tuned hammered that face has [TS]

  been hammered in such a way that it can [TS]

  play multiple notes and must be quite a [TS]

  conversation [TS]

  well the thing is there was there was [TS]

  briefly a moment where I was super [TS]

  excited that i was going to get a set of [TS]

  steel drums behind the couch because [TS]

  short of the bagpipes [TS]

  there's only one instrument I mean that [TS]

  is the instrument that if you don't know [TS]

  how to play it [TS]

  you cannot imagine how and look at their [TS]

  I put violin up there [TS]

  oh yeah I mean maybe maybe French horn [TS]

  there certainly are now you don't want [TS]

  to listen to something certain [TS]

  instrument you don't want to listen to [TS]

  somebody learn to play no more years the [TS]

  also is true of every instrument [TS]

  but so oh my god the the potential of [TS]

  the bombs because ladies right i mean [TS]

  happening in a big way regular rock [TS]

  idea that maybe I could find it [TS]

  you couldn't find steel drums in Alaska [TS]

  without considerable work more work than [TS]

  he was prepared to do and then one day [TS]

  gave the vibes I think to my niece or [TS]

  sometimes just disappeared one day and [TS]

  that's no small feat because they you [TS]

  know they weighed as much as a honda [TS]

  civic but uh yeah the that when we have [TS]

  a long history and I think dad realized [TS]

  at that point that what he needed to do [TS]

  with it to satisfy to scratch that edge [TS]

  what he needed to do was just listen to [TS]

  Lionel Hampton tapes which wouldn't like [TS]

  things like what I think like modern [TS]

  jazz quartet modern jazz quartet just so [TS]

  him to do anything else right I didn't [TS]

  and continue to play where the kids in [TS]

  America and have funny things to say [TS]

  depending on what court i went to and [TS]

  now I have to play that note play this [TS]

  little thing and it had playing the [TS]

  entire song probably took 15 minutes [TS]
