Hello Internet

H.I. #44: Cursed Tickets

00:00:00   So we have our dogs me. Should I go grab Lucy and they can see John or. She watching T.V. For like half an hour. [TS]

00:00:08   She just sits there any widely looking at the screen. Yeah. [TS]

00:00:11   She's terribly looking at the screen and I think the blows my mind is she will watch me just work on the computer [TS]

00:00:15   and she clearly was watching the mouse move around the screen it's unbelievable. [TS]

00:00:19   It hasn't taken our eyes off the screen yet. Now that's why should should just do this the whole time. [TS]

00:00:24   You know you're so smart. This can not show. She's the best. She knows of ever. No this is the best. [TS]

00:00:34   You know this is the best action that nearly you know you know your the best of it who sees the best dog. [TS]

00:00:39   You see is the best. Can I ask you a question ask a way it's this just came today. [TS]

00:00:48   Who do you think would win a fight between you and NE a physical fight. If we were both just going for be honest. [TS]

00:00:58   No OK. OK. I have two answers to this. Let's say we're in some situation that's like a boxing ring. [TS]

00:01:09   Right where there's a ref. And we're having a fight under those circumstances. Yet. [TS]

00:01:13   Like if we were actually going to fight in real life. You would probably win. [TS]

00:01:19   However I think if we were in a situation where we were having a legitimate fight to the death. [TS]

00:01:26   I would put my money on me then. In that case. If it's only one of us is coming out of this alive. [TS]

00:01:32   I think I might I might overcome under those circumstances. [TS]

00:01:36   What's the difference before you tell me about the race [TS]

00:01:38   and see a second outside because that's kind of what I meant like you know just a role [TS]

00:01:41   or five like a you know in the jungle. But why would I win a boxing match. [TS]

00:01:46   I don't mean like a boxing match I just mean any kind of fight. Let's let's say it was. [TS]

00:01:51   It was a reward on Petri on that if we raise a certain amount of money you and I will have a fight in a ring. [TS]

00:01:57   Well we're not going to do that people don't even start. Let's just say that that was a reward. Never say never. [TS]

00:02:05   Maybe maybe first four for shard money am I could say if I get beyond paper view. Where we have a price. [TS]

00:02:21   And so you have to make a calculation of [TS]

00:02:23   when it is you want to concede that fight so I think I would be much more likely to concede. Soon. [TS]

00:02:30   A fight to the death is different because if you lose. There is nothing. [TS]

00:02:35   And so any amount of physical harm to yourself. [TS]

00:02:38   Is potentially worth it because otherwise you're dead you're more likely just a quick. If you can. [TS]

00:02:44   But if there's no quitting. Then you're betting on you. [TS]

00:02:48   If there's no quitting I'm betting on me that if there is quitting your quit. That's not exactly what would phrase it. [TS]

00:02:55   But if you want to phrase it that way you can. [TS]

00:02:57   Why do you think you would win the fight to the death under those circumstances. I might just be. [TS]

00:03:01   I might just be a crazy fighter. I thought I would I would have some sort of deep down. [TS]

00:03:07   Reserve inside of me and I and I would all it would just be all out it would you know there's no. [TS]

00:03:12   No gentlemanly fighting here. It would be whatever you could possibly do. Yeah. [TS]

00:03:17   So I'm not I'm not guaranteeing that I would win. [TS]

00:03:20   Just be clear I don't think that this is like a lot of vs Lee I would win. [TS]

00:03:25   I'm just saying I would put my money on me if it was a fight to the death [TS]

00:03:28   but even still I think we're think we're relatively evenly matched. So it might be like sixty forty me. [TS]

00:03:34   Fight to the death. And maybe a seventy thirty you. Boxing match kind of fight. OK. [TS]

00:03:41   How do you feel about these numbers what do you think about this. [TS]

00:03:44   Well I was thinking about this on my drive time tonight. And. And I have decided. [TS]

00:03:50   Pretty quickly and pretty easily than that he would win. [TS]

00:03:54   I don't I don't agree with that look what do you don't agree with you just said. That's what you think today. Well. [TS]

00:03:59   Well again if I laid out like you scenarios I think I made this very clear. [TS]

00:04:04   But why do you think I Why do you think I would win. Well you want to get I'm taller than you yeah yeah true. [TS]

00:04:11   And you have. Yes. You seem to have caught big fists. I wouldn't want to get punched by one of your hands. [TS]

00:04:18   The but the main reason was kind of what you said. I think there's been a bit of. [TS]

00:04:23   Like I think you have a big reservoir of anger you could call upon if you needed to. You could just go wild. [TS]

00:04:30   But yeah I was thinking you know. Cage Fight to the death. Yeah I think you just go a bit crazy. [TS]

00:04:35   Like when you pinch yourself with coffee. The Hulk would come out that would actually be my strategy to win. [TS]

00:04:43   I would burn myself with coffee. Right before the fight. [TS]

00:04:47   I did but I think you would when I think he would win a fight between us. If we if it was yeah. If it was something. [TS]

00:04:52   It was like sport. Maybe not because you write a lot. Met. [TS]

00:04:56   If it was not necessary to the death but if it was like real anger at each other [TS]

00:05:00   and just wanting to really hurt each other I think he would do better on a lot get angry for short periods [TS]

00:05:07   and then I was like don't mind anymore but I think you could just sustain. Sustain the. The aggression. [TS]

00:05:14   Well I guess we'll never find out unless that patriotic think. So web access after quite a break. [TS]

00:05:25   Yeah it feels like it has been for ever since I've talked to you and it in men than ever. [TS]

00:05:31   Man I am ninety five percent sure. This is the biggest break. If not between us actually talking. [TS]

00:05:41   For sure the biggest break between. When the episodes are actually going to be published. [TS]

00:05:46   I think this is our biggest break ever. Yeah. [TS]

00:05:48   So and is the stuff I think this is the first time we've recorded hello internet. When you're not in London. Yes. [TS]

00:05:55   Yes I think you're right. [TS]

00:05:57   For the listeners I'm in North Carolina at this moment I was thinking we record the last episode in North Carolina. [TS]

00:06:02   But that's not that what that's not right all recorded but just before we left. [TS]

00:06:05   I think I don't care about your could see a you're thinking of a part custody of mistress. [TS]

00:06:10   I can't keep anything straight. Because I'm still very jet lagged as well. [TS]

00:06:14   That's also I'm having a hard time remembering anything. [TS]

00:06:16   I thought that maybe [TS]

00:06:17   when you code you were going to put your parents on so I could speak to them because that Bradley fans. [TS]

00:06:21   And I didn't get to see them. Why would why would my parents answer my computer. When you face time. [TS]

00:06:29   I would have thought you'd say I look better use my parents I want to say hello and they would just laid [TS]

00:06:32   and say hey Brady how you don't know we can't we go work to do we were starting we've got stuff to do. [TS]

00:06:39   IS NOT A is not like a social call. But I am I'm all set up here in the in the home office. In my house and. [TS]

00:06:47   I don't have any understanding about why my parents are just be standing on either side of me waiting. [TS]

00:06:51   Do you think I would like to speak to the light if I code. [TS]

00:06:56   That might be awkward for everybody but you can give it a shot. Why he would if you could for everybody. [TS]

00:07:03   I think I just said that I think it would be awkward for everybody but then again off with so many the. [TS]

00:07:07   Yeah that was literally what I was about to say is I forget that you every good with people. [TS]

00:07:13   But my whole family is somewhat like me. If. [TS]

00:07:17   If that gives us a little bit of a feeling about why it might be awkward for other people realize that maybe I should [TS]

00:07:23   speak to them then a light. [TS]

00:07:24   If that light you know I should probably give him a wide berth we have even discussed while I was here. [TS]

00:07:29   How everyone in the whole family does the same. [TS]

00:07:33   Oh no the person at Starbucks has recognized me I can never go here again. Thing. [TS]

00:07:37   Everyone in my family does that exact same behavior. [TS]

00:07:40   You can't go can go to a restaurant where the waiter knows precisely who you are. [TS]

00:07:46   Do your parents let move house every three months or something or no no [TS]

00:07:49   but they can rotate the places that they're going to go to tell you what stocks would never if it comes to business [TS]

00:07:54   that because we're going to follow your family. [TS]

00:07:57   You know the business just shifts around that's the way or the go into a Starbucks just a different one. [TS]

00:08:03   So you have been ole that you've been your North Carolina you went to why. You've just been on planes everywhere. Yeah. [TS]

00:08:10   Anything I should know. Yeah it has been. It has been quite the summer of traveling for me. It came to North Carolina. [TS]

00:08:17   For my family I went to Hawaii for. I don't even know. Ten days twelve days. For my wife's family. [TS]

00:08:24   And then recently I have come back to North Carolina. It has been a jet lag Tass Dick. Summer from my perspective and. [TS]

00:08:31   Now is the beginning of the eastward part of that which is very rough. And I don't like. [TS]

00:08:36   I don't like it all where you were supposed to come back like oh wait a guy [TS]

00:08:39   but it sounds like you know I think around for some seat on a plane sometime. What is this. [TS]

00:08:44   This is always the standby on certainty of precisely when we're going to go and I don't know when what. [TS]

00:08:49   When I can't even speak Brady. I can't even speak because I'm just looking at them. [TS]

00:08:53   My mind [TS]

00:08:53   but it just seems like such a situation that you would not find acceptable that I can't believe that you tolerate this [TS]

00:09:00   situation where you have no control. All our say over when you're going to fly. [TS]

00:09:04   And you're just waiting around for a wait for a maybe plane. [TS]

00:09:07   I can't believe you told write this I think the only reason I tolerate it is because this is what flying has been for [TS]

00:09:14   my whole life. [TS]

00:09:15   The have a home was never ever have a dedicated ticket [TS]

00:09:18   and so I just feel like oh isn't this how everybody flies that no maybe you're leaving on some day maybe you're not [TS]

00:09:24   and you don't even know. [TS]

00:09:26   I think that the only reason why I'm still grown up adult me is seems perfectly fine with a situation where. [TS]

00:09:32   That's a day for United those not the case your midst of rational than of course you know that's not everyone flies [TS]

00:09:38   and you've known this for years. And I'm not just pay anything shape. [TS]

00:09:41   Is that what it is not saying that I don't literally know that people aren't all flying on standby. [TS]

00:09:47   I think it's just that this is how I've always flown and so it feels very natural. [TS]

00:09:51   As I said I You think cheap and not being cheap. You. You want the upgrade. [TS]

00:09:56   You had I think is actually right that's exactly right. [TS]

00:09:58   Great you know we're having the upgrade having the apt right makes the flight nicer. [TS]

00:10:03   But it's completely cancel that by the fact you had to wait a week together. You may be right about that Brady. [TS]

00:10:10   You may be right. [TS]

00:10:11   I don't think I don't think your kind of cost benefit analysis is working here and thinks I think there's a. [TS]

00:10:17   I think there's a bug in your machine here. Yeah I need to debug some of my code. [TS]

00:10:21   I mean limiting the changes around it so unlike you. Oh. I'll just sit around for a week. [TS]

00:10:27   Not knowing when I'm going to fly because then when I've ever been chilly due to the six [TS]

00:10:31   or seven hour slot it will be more comfortable. I'm sorry that you disapprove of. I'll see what I can do about it. [TS]

00:10:41   I went to Morocco. Again for a holiday. Which seems like an eternity ago. I did at that point. [TS]

00:10:48   I was trying to figure out. I think maybe that. [TS]

00:10:50   I was trying to figure out if that was the furthest apart we've ever day in sawdust. [TS]

00:10:55   Like like it was like because you know had. [TS]

00:10:57   You say there's that rubber band between us and it really hurts you will miss arpa. [TS]

00:11:01   If I say that yeah you said something I'm sure you said something that. [TS]

00:11:04   OK so I got out that Web site that does those how do you say A and to pose antipathies How do you do when used. [TS]

00:11:11   When you look at what's on the exact opposite side of the earth from where you are earth sandwich. That's what that is. [TS]

00:11:17   Well you know that's not the proper net for a anyway. I'm pretty sure I'm pretty sure that is a America. [TS]

00:11:22   But it's because I thought maybe we were like we were going to be close so I got out the website to check [TS]

00:11:27   when you're in Hawaii and I was in America she turns out. We weren't ready. Sarpa. I thought. [TS]

00:11:35   How far apart were we modern I when the how the whole through the earth came out. [TS]

00:11:40   Nowhere near each other but we when you when you are in America and I am in Hawaii. [TS]

00:11:47   We are just about as far apart as we can be time zone wise. It's almost impossible for us to be further apart. [TS]

00:11:53   Well let me call it up. I think we're like one time zone away from being as far away as possible. [TS]

00:11:59   So when you're in Hawaii. You. If you were to dig your tongue or looks that you come out roughly in Botswana. [TS]

00:12:07   Lot of right South Africa. No no thank you I was right in the north of Africa. And if you dug a hole from where I was. [TS]

00:12:13   You'd be coming out brought me a New Zealand. New Zealand's kind of close to her whining it. [TS]

00:12:18   Not that close yet to take what you can get in the Pacific Ocean. This vast stretch of of nothingness. [TS]

00:12:27   I'm going to have a look at it dug a tunnel from Adelaide times the Black stop. Our ways with the Adelaide. [TS]

00:12:33   You come out pretty much right in the middle of the Atlantic. [TS]

00:12:37   I love I love this thing they say and to parrot so antipathies of heavyset I love I'm fascinated by. [TS]

00:12:42   There's a map that shows the overlap it's surprisingly little of the Earth that actually does overlap itself. [TS]

00:12:48   Again because if you actually look at a real globe and rotate it so that whole Y.A.S. In the center of your globe. [TS]

00:12:55   All the way the rest of the way around that globe is just water. It's like if you look right at why. [TS]

00:13:01   There is nothing so it's like on half of the earth practically. There is no land. Except for tiny specks of islands. [TS]

00:13:08   I think that's part of the reason why they're so very little overlap if you're trying to think about digging a hole [TS]

00:13:12   through the center of the earth. Not looking at that map now. Jerry interesting very interesting. [TS]

00:13:17   You know the day I arrived at Marrakesh. It was fifty five degrees Celsius in America Sure. [TS]

00:13:24   That sounds hot but I need to. I need to do the calculation for that. In terms of real temperatures. So fifty five. [TS]

00:13:32   In your made up nonsense temperature measuring is super hot. Whole new we think our. [TS]

00:13:41   What is it in Fahrenheit that ten million isn't my. It's a hundred and thirty one degrees Fahrenheit. Wow. [TS]

00:13:49   I wasn't actually staying in America show staying in the mountains as math and just about America [TS]

00:13:53   and I was coal is a bit was still in the forty's every day and came of his of forty. [TS]

00:14:00   Like forty to forty three was very common. [TS]

00:14:02   OK that's still pretty hot that that's one hundred in seven hundred eight degrees. That is that is very hot. [TS]

00:14:10   How are our you surviving such temperatures Brady. Coke drinks. Cold drink conditioning. How are conditioning OK. [TS]

00:14:18   Was it was yeah I wasn't I wasn't talking up a mountain. It was. I was now. Doing luxury. Now you're doing luxury. [TS]

00:14:24   Did you have Sherpas where the Sherpas know. [TS]

00:14:26   There are no shippers but they were they were very helpful people bringing me cold drinks. [TS]

00:14:30   I saw some of those cool drinks when you posted them on Twitter. [TS]

00:14:33   And then moments later I got a message from your wife telling me to tell you to get off your phone. [TS]

00:14:38   Yeah quite sure how to handle that. Well she was on her fine. Of a flea she had to be on her phone to contact me. [TS]

00:14:46   But it did feel it did feel a little bit like I was suddenly in the middle of something. [TS]

00:14:50   And I know she was going to reject me like you know that not when I was sending you were those know what he pitches. [TS]

00:14:55   She was she was encouraging me. OK Can we just couldn't he just for the listeners. [TS]

00:15:00   We need to just of stablish right away. [TS]

00:15:03   What you're talking about before this little Brady definition if you know a not a great definition of notice before [TS]

00:15:09   people's imaginations start running wild. I think that ship has sailed because as I did tell your wife. [TS]

00:15:18   That you and I were busy sharing naughty pictures with each other [TS]

00:15:21   and that's why we were on our phones on opposite sides of the world. You started this I want to be clear. [TS]

00:15:29   Of sending me. I don't even know how to describe this. Pictures that were of a knock us objects. [TS]

00:15:36   But that were somehow still suggestive pictures. [TS]

00:15:40   Maybe I don't know why you started doing this but you just message me some. Out of the blue. I don't know why. [TS]

00:15:48   But you want to send me those naughty pictures. [TS]

00:15:50   Sometimes you just gotta be nobody can I just say as well that I'm going to say something [TS]

00:15:56   but I've put a poor so you can edit or. If you need. [TS]

00:16:00   Speaking of North Enos Who was it who after the last pod cast and media Lee sent me a text message saying. [TS]

00:16:07   I just did that how pod cast not wearing any pants. But I was. I was that's not that's not Noddy I was at home. [TS]

00:16:17   I was so I was still wearing boxers or you said you say you were on the subject of no water [TS]

00:16:23   and I know there was this joke. [TS]

00:16:25   Last episode about how we're going to make it like a really bad swear word and you sense that a thing that. [TS]

00:16:32   And everyone's really run with this joke and. I'm all for running with a joke because you know. [TS]

00:16:37   There is that a problem here that aren't. I don't think people are thinking about. [TS]

00:16:41   And I'm sure me pointing it out isn't a to do anything for I'm going to pointed out any. [TS]

00:16:47   People who really should stop Assange things like on Facebook and Twitter and that. Along the lines of. [TS]

00:16:53   Brady I can't believe he's the N. Word. RICE Because if someone reads that. [TS]

00:16:59   And doesn't into a massive investigation into the history of hello internet. [TS]

00:17:03   They're going to a shame that I have used the actual bad and word. Somewhere on the Internet. [TS]

00:17:10   And I'm being reprimanded by about it and invited figure out what the jury case is going to think gosh. [TS]

00:17:17   What that guy using that word for word obviously would never use such. [TS]

00:17:24   Just think about that when you make jokes about the N word. Third parties. [TS]

00:17:27   Not take the wrong way and come up with a friend say yes. I have seen people making jokes about censoring out naughty. [TS]

00:17:37   And I think the appropriate way to do it is when people but Asterix in the middle. [TS]

00:17:43   But they still leave the why they don't just do an asterisk asterisk asterisk. They do and with the Asterix and the Y. [TS]

00:17:50   So he cares least vaguely try to figure out what it is [TS]

00:17:54   and more importantly realize what it's not wouldn't be funnier if you just lie as strict. One letter. [TS]

00:18:00   So you put like and Asterix U.-G. H. T. Right. So is like the worst censoring ever. [TS]

00:18:07   I can't leave he said and over to this episode of hello internet is brought to you by hover. [TS]

00:18:14   Hover is the best way to buy and manage domain names. [TS]

00:18:18   When you get a great idea for something that you wanted to do on the Internet. You need to get the right. [TS]

00:18:24   Domain name and hover give you exactly what you need to do that they have easy to use tools to buy [TS]

00:18:48   So they do the big ones of course dot com dot net. But also all the crazy little ones like Dot diamonds. [TS]

00:18:54   The website is clean and simple to use the you don't have to mess around with a complicated service [TS]

00:19:00   and most other domain name registrars are willfully complicated. Intentionally complicated. [TS]

00:19:07   That you don't know what you're doing. [TS]

00:19:09   So if you're ready have a domain name that is trapped at one of those registrars hover has a valet transfer service [TS]

00:19:14   that will help you get that domain name. Out. They'll just do everything for you. They're professionals. [TS]

00:19:30   Brady took the opportunity while I was on vacation [TS]

00:19:33   and not looking at my e-mail to arrange with however this week's offer code that he knew that I would have to be saying. [TS]

00:19:41   And this week's offer code is not easy so if you go to hover dot com [TS]

00:19:46   and use the offer code Nadi you will get ten percent off. Your first purchase at However there are simple. [TS]

00:19:53   They're easy to use. I can't count how many domain names I have registered there. They are a great company. [TS]

00:20:11   Hello Internet listeners are this so much follow up and so much to talk about right. We have a million. [TS]

00:20:17   We have a million. Just random things that we have added over the past couple weeks. To our show notes. [TS]

00:20:23   I got a really interesting email here just a ridiculous a really quick one on an interesting e-mail. [TS]

00:20:28   I've printed out all my mouse on paper today because I thought that would make my job Asia. [TS]

00:20:32   And it doesn't it's just caused a big map of paper that's confusing me. This comes from. [TS]

00:20:39   I hate it when I say this comes from before and I what the nines going to pay. [TS]

00:20:42   And then I look at the name of something I has have no chance of pronouncing see this is why you say something like. [TS]

00:20:48   We got an email about. And then you don't even try to say the person's name. [TS]

00:20:51   Because you're a girl we didn't like that game. [TS]

00:20:53   I feel like if you say the name now it's not only is it not for the person [TS]

00:20:56   but encourages more people because they think oh I could have my name set on how the Internet. [TS]

00:21:01   I could have my name is pronounced by Brady. This comes from doubt from Galston. I think it's in. [TS]

00:21:08   I should be other say that because I think that's the same ones an Indian cricketer. Co-captain can be a bit. Anyway. [TS]

00:21:14   That's a comes from the cricketer. Not a cricketer. Maybe just a cricketer he doesn't say he's not the cricketer. [TS]

00:21:19   I'm going to assume is the cricketer and OK This comes from a very good Test cricketer. [TS]

00:21:25   For India co-captain Gambhir more someone else could get a maybe move. [TS]

00:21:29   I thought it might interest you to know that you can buy the ink registrar's years from the manufacturer. [TS]

00:21:34   I talked about how rich Strauss includes like fairies blood [TS]

00:21:38   or something that no one could get except registrar's sayings that's not the case. [TS]

00:21:42   It's Talk of in code iron called on gal. On goal on guessing. [TS]

00:21:47   Little made as a suspension of tiny island particles in dilute acid. [TS]

00:21:52   And apparently this is been used since the fifth century. Most of manuscripts have a. [TS]

00:21:57   And the reason it's good obviously is that the iron particles. Don't fade underexposure from U.V. Light. [TS]

00:22:02   Like normal mix. [TS]

00:22:04   So it sounds like it wasn't just the sort of forensic nature of the ink that makes it useful to registrars [TS]

00:22:09   but it's also it's long lasting this. [TS]

00:22:12   I wonder if that's what archiving he uses as well just regular old archiving iron quite possibly court possibly. [TS]

00:22:20   They go. So. Thank you for that. I'm going to sound. [TS]

00:22:25   I have to say I do like the sound of you handling the physical paper. [TS]

00:22:28   As much nicer than clicking keyboard sounds for Obree. [TS]

00:22:31   Brady like in a real news room looking at pieces of paper that he sorting through and you can hear the shelling. [TS]

00:22:36   I like that you need to hear typewriters in the background and copy stop the presses. Actually great. [TS]

00:22:43   Let's stop the presses because we've forgotten something that I would like to do on every pod cast from now on I'm not [TS]

00:22:51   sure I'm going to allow it but but go ahead. [TS]

00:22:53   I would like to check where our listener John who plays the bass on a boat is today. [TS]

00:23:01   Going to I'm going to coal up my marine traffic. App. OK. [TS]

00:23:06   And I'm and I'm going to call up my slates because I've put his ship into my slate his ship which is cold. [TS]

00:23:14   The anthem of the safes and he is currently. Rather disappointingly docked in Tama was me. [TS]

00:23:21   Parma last time I think he was the ship is docked in Parma. Anyway. [TS]

00:23:27   How anti-climactic that was How anti-climactic It always wanted I weary is. But I have another nice e-mail here great. [TS]

00:23:35   The paper. Very good yes we can hear that. This comes from head to another one. This comes from. [TS]

00:23:44   Gannon which is an unusual name. Hi Brady and grey I guess but he went great this. Wink. [TS]

00:23:51   You are correct he went great this but he's having a read to him. I'm listening to it. At this very moment. [TS]

00:23:57   Now I like to think we have a diverse audience cry. [TS]

00:23:59   That are beginning to think maybe we turn on the in the think everyone who listens to our podcast is are the code Tim. [TS]

00:24:07   Or is a bass player on a boat. Because Gannon here. Says I am also a professional bass player working on a cruise ship. [TS]

00:24:15   I'm not sure I believe the story. [TS]

00:24:18   He's got a lot of details here in our work for the same company that was mentioned by the person from Anthem. [TS]

00:24:24   I work primarily as a trombonist in the orchestra. [TS]

00:24:27   On The View to full majesty of the safes and I sometimes play bass for the Jazz sets. [TS]

00:24:34   He's a seasonal musician and showing school here he's actually a news professor at a university in central Texas. [TS]

00:24:39   But when he was writing he was writing from the capital of the Bahamas which is. [TS]

00:24:45   You know that is do not know what that is possible the so you would you seem like someone who would know how to [TS]

00:24:50   capitals. Nest out. Now is going to get that. [TS]

00:24:56   There's a pirate themed here on the ship fire she's talking about [TS]

00:25:00   and the whole the crew like to go because they have good wife I love the podcast been listening since episode two was [TS]

00:25:07   released. Keep up the good work. So you know I'm going to genetically I do know what you're going to do where is it. [TS]

00:25:13   That's called up the majesty of the sea ice which is also in my fleets now. [TS]

00:25:17   And then is rather more exciting way that looks like it's sailing. And is currently sailing near the Bahamas. [TS]

00:25:27   Basically about halfway between the Bahamas and Miami. [TS]

00:25:32   There we go and show you cruise their canon and any other bass players on the ship so you can to get in touch. [TS]

00:25:40   No you know where the truth that Brady going to do is just get an endless number of e-mails from people pretending to [TS]

00:25:48   be bass players on ships on do you think that will happen I think. I think our listeners. [TS]

00:25:55   They're definitely Norty and they are news and they are a nuisance. [TS]

00:25:59   But I don't think that allow our listeners are no nuisance. [TS]

00:26:02   What's not like that know that they would like if given the chance they would create new since they have missed T.V.'s [TS]

00:26:08   maybe is a better word than mysterious but I don't think they're lies. [TS]

00:26:13   So I don't think they will say their basis on a ship if they're not. I'm just I'm just thinking. [TS]

00:26:18   I'm just thinking how loud here Brady. [TS]

00:26:21   I've been seeing a lot of feedback as well from people talking about their jobs and what they listen to [TS]

00:26:25   when they're on the podcast. [TS]

00:26:27   And I'm thinking we're getting enough of this feedback that very soon we need to institute a photographic proof policy. [TS]

00:26:33   Oh yeah of what a person's actually doing so all of these surgeons who were apparently listening to hello internet. [TS]

00:26:40   While commenting on the Read it. [TS]

00:26:42   You know I need to see a picture of your i Phone in the chest cavity of somebody that you're operating on with hello [TS]

00:26:48   internet on the screen. [TS]

00:26:49   Because otherwise it's just like every surgeon in America is listening to our podcast while doing their work. [TS]

00:26:55   And I'm just I'm beginning to be a bit doubtful about how many of you really really there are will create this sounds [TS]

00:27:01   like the perfect opportunity to introduce my new favorite Kona of hello internet. And this is people's occupation Kona. [TS]

00:27:10   What people do and what they do while listening to how the Internet being Brady is going to be career corner. [TS]

00:27:19   Career corner. No because because it doesn't have its not necessarily your career you could be. [TS]

00:27:25   You know you could be a knitter. You could be you know. Work in a phone center but you need to not. [TS]

00:27:30   That's when you listen to hello internet. [TS]

00:27:32   And the knitting I want to hear about the how and what people do while they're listening to the show. [TS]

00:27:37   That means more to me than what a job is this OK That's fair enough that's for another. [TS]

00:27:40   But I don't think your name was very catchy. [TS]

00:27:42   We need a catchy name for this no the Joker that's the joke the joke is that it has and catchy name. [TS]

00:27:46   Something like what people do while listening to hello internet corner. The joke is it's a compass some name. [TS]

00:27:52   We're going to gray trust me his that is that's the joke is that the funny part of the gray. [TS]

00:27:56   Great which one of us has pedigree here making up names for things that stick. Heard. But more. But more on that later. [TS]

00:28:06   OK if you want to call this. [TS]

00:28:08   What it is that people happen to do while they're listening to the hello internet pod cast corner. I'm onboard. [TS]

00:28:14   Say that's beautiful. It should have a slightly different name every time as well as they could feel. OK. [TS]

00:28:20   I'm going to I'm going to give you a few here. Now I'm going to pretty warn you here Greg. Yeah. [TS]

00:28:24   Some of these are amazing that a warning. That's not a warning. [TS]

00:28:28   Are you wearing like a hat [TS]

00:28:29   or something because I'm worried that these are going to be so amazing that your brain could explode out of your head. [TS]

00:28:36   Oh I have. I have the coolest hat that I've been wearing that I got for Hawaii. [TS]

00:28:40   I have like Arianna Jones style habit I can wear. [TS]

00:28:42   Put it on agr I put it on because I don't want your brains splattered all over your screen. [TS]

00:28:46   Literally literally it would be great match on your screen. Because this. This is a Met some of these are amazing. [TS]

00:28:53   I'm not going to I'm going to I'm going to ease you into it. [TS]

00:28:56   I feel like you're doing movie spoilers here Brady your man [TS]

00:28:59   and building it up so my no camp are not really going to now listen to me. On the snake here. Listen to me. [TS]

00:29:04   I know you were eight. [TS]

00:29:05   I know you're worried I'm building it up too much and I kept possibly meet expectations but rushed me. [TS]

00:29:10   Trust me at the end. You'll be impressed. OK. You're in a funny mood today Brady. [TS]

00:29:19   Here we go because it's so late at night we're recording this for you. Let's go first of all. [TS]

00:29:24   Yeah I've had a I've had a laugh at it all day. This is from. Carlos. BRADY And Greg. Thanks for all your content. [TS]

00:29:31   Etc etc And he says I think Brady's videos. Better than Grace. But he doesn't. [TS]

00:29:37   And he doesn't actually say that he says he says I listen to the podcast. [TS]

00:29:43   Mainly German my work as a penetration tester. That sounds. Frankly that sounds Nadi. It does of it. [TS]

00:29:53   Do you know a penetration tester is. You probably don't want me to guess what that might be welcome or have a guess. [TS]

00:30:02   OK My guess is he's working in a materials lab. [TS]

00:30:08   That is a good guess cry that is a good guess and that's what I would have guessed. [TS]

00:30:11   That's what I thought when I first saw him. Turns out it's not the case. OK. It's actually more. [TS]

00:30:16   It's actually a job that would relate to what he a very email could email continues. [TS]

00:30:21   Don't let the title for he the job my only involves breaking into financial and medical institutions. [TS]

00:30:27   Through social engineering. [TS]

00:30:29   And I weren't towards compromise of the network in the same why a real hacker or attacker would. [TS]

00:30:36   So he's always a white hat hacker. Guesses. Cujo but I imagine that is quite a satisfying and rewarding job. [TS]

00:30:45   For the sort of person who would go into it. [TS]

00:30:47   You know you have permission to try to break into people's security systems. [TS]

00:30:52   I bet that's super fun for the people who like doing that kind of thing. [TS]

00:30:56   I bet Kalika taste and Co stories every beer is a the especially the social engineering point. [TS]

00:31:01   You know as always humans are the weak link in your security. They're always wants to go after just a quick one here. [TS]

00:31:10   This is from Patrick. Hi My name is Patrick I want to tell you. Brackets and gray. That I listen to hello internet. [TS]

00:31:18   When I do surgery on my ass surgery on my side. [TS]

00:31:22   I work as a research assistant and I study the effect of probiotic bacteria on the heart. When I do repetitive tasks. [TS]

00:31:29   Your podcast is my favorite thing to listen to telegraph that if he is paying his tax in the US still. [TS]

00:31:35   He's helping to fund my research. And thank you for the wonderful pod cast. [TS]

00:31:39   I actually have seen photographic proof of this one. This came up on on the read it once someone showing the actual. [TS]

00:31:45   Well hope Internet podcast player and mouse surgery. Simultaneously some presuming at the same guy. [TS]

00:31:51   Unless we have multiple mouse surgeons listening to the pod Gray if we have multiple bass players [TS]

00:31:57   and cruise ships I think it's almost inevitable we have multiple massive actions. [TS]

00:32:01   Now I want to know if it's the same guy or for have many master gins many much mouse surgeons Yeah. [TS]

00:32:06   You never know I do never now. Here we go. [TS]

00:32:09   This is a this is a very long a mouse I'm not going to read Oh [TS]

00:32:12   but it was a very good a marline Jodo thank you very much to Janey. I'd like to inform is another career. [TS]

00:32:18   New cetera et cetera. I'm the sound guy on a travel document treaty they show. My. [TS]

00:32:23   Day consists of recording clean already or in some very exotic and beautiful places. In summary. [TS]

00:32:28   He listens to the podcast in his headphones in his down time between recording because the so much down time on a [TS]

00:32:34   documentary. [TS]

00:32:36   And he has it rigged up so that his fire and goes into the same headphones that he records for he just turns it off [TS]

00:32:42   when I have to do a proper work. He's a male continues. What was owed this became a problem a few days ago. [TS]

00:32:50   When I was taken by surprise that the crew started to film an interview. [TS]

00:32:54   I had no time to unset my bag and turn off my fired. And I had to start recording immediately. [TS]

00:32:59   So for the entire length of the interview. I was not only listening to a local Chinese man tell us all about his loss. [TS]

00:33:06   But also Brady talking about the ridiculous. Brag humble. [TS]

00:33:11   How frustrating that must've been a narrow that chart is Guy must to be interrupting some fascinating stuff from what I [TS]

00:33:18   like about this one is that we are basically interrupting and causing problems that some of our ally. [TS]

00:33:25   I tell you what a brick umble her talk about that no you know [TS]

00:33:28   but let's not let's not you're going to go out there are younger than I was when you're ready. This is from McGuire Oh. [TS]

00:33:33   And there is proof to go with this. OK. It still could be fake. But there was enough proof of me to believe it's real. [TS]

00:33:39   And that's why I'm reading it out. [TS]

00:33:41   Don't think I'm just reading everything that comes in and I was sent I was sent proof of this. [TS]

00:33:46   McGwire just a quick one. I thought I'd write in to let you know. I'm a via fax compositing artist in London. [TS]

00:33:53   Currently working on the new Star Wars film. I just ruler and magic. [TS]

00:33:58   Obviously can't reveal any information about the project. But just chipping in a listener job corner. [TS]

00:34:04   As I thought you in C.G. Pate might like to know there are some shots in the upcoming film that were created. [TS]

00:34:10   While listening to hello internet. Oh wow. Pretty good. That is pretty good I have to say. [TS]

00:34:17   You said that there's some proof on this the area. There is proof yet. [TS]

00:34:21   You have seen something that confirms to you that this is this is definitely the cat I haven't seen. [TS]

00:34:25   Absolute total one hundred percent proof. But I've seen. I've seen enough. That makes me think if he's lying. [TS]

00:34:31   He's gone to a lot of trouble. OK if he's going to so much trouble that he almost is as to have his name read anyway. [TS]

00:34:37   Right right. I believe and I will take your word for it. OK I'm just saying. Absolute proof. [TS]

00:34:42   That would be really amazing. Is in the back of Star Wars somewhere. Seeing a tiny. Hello Internet logo. [TS]

00:34:49   You know that there's a lot of stuff in the background of those of those movies. [TS]

00:34:52   So we know as much as the background is in the prequels but yeah. That's pretty good. [TS]

00:34:58   McGuire look you do manage to drop the hell are Internet like anywhere into the new Star Wars film. [TS]

00:35:03   You will have aren't dying credit you're going to there will be the most amazing things that there are African. [TS]

00:35:11   Tito the. I had the sixty symbol symbol in an actual published X.-Men comic. Really. [TS]

00:35:19   Yeah I've got it here my shelf there's isn't an X. Men and in it. They're looking at the screen. [TS]

00:35:26   And I lucky you cheap screen that what unity and there's like other recommended channels on the side [TS]

00:35:30   and whoever the artist was was obviously a sixty simple fan. And I include a tiny little. Sixty symbols Lego there. [TS]

00:35:37   That is pretty cool Brady that a recovery the cool. OK. Here's another one. This is. [TS]

00:35:43   There's a series of a mouse ears I'm not going to go into all of them. But. Derek. [TS]

00:35:50   Who lives in New York City and seems to be a scar diver. [TS]

00:35:54   Camera man so he just lets not discarding among many that you didn't mess up. Name. But yes go on. [TS]

00:35:59   That would be so unfair to cohere it is one moment on the part of say. He listens to hello internet. [TS]

00:36:07   A lot by the sounds of it. He dismissed when he's packing his parachute. He dismissed her on the flight. Up. [TS]

00:36:13   And apparently he also them listens to a on the scarred eyes he listens to hello internet. While free falling. Was it. [TS]

00:36:20   Just to be clear he's not deliberately listening to hello internet. [TS]

00:36:23   On the free for let me let me read a bit of history. The upshot is. He listens to on the flight up because it's all. [TS]

00:36:28   You know it's time to kill way to sitting in the plane. Right. [TS]

00:36:32   And by the time they're all kids it up and they're doing everything. [TS]

00:36:34   It would be more trouble to unzip everything in take his headphones easy about South and stuff and jump. [TS]

00:36:40   Then is not a leave it running. So he's not listening to it because he wants to listen to on the skydive. [TS]

00:36:45   About it instead that's just incidental but he does listen to how the Internet while skydiving. And I did say to him. [TS]

00:36:52   Can you can you hear it while you're free falling and. This is what I'm wondering. Yeah. [TS]

00:36:57   Well apparently you can't he just say something interesting. I can hear your voice is in Brady. More than Grace. [TS]

00:37:04   I don't know why that is something about my voice that's more easy to hear [TS]

00:37:07   when Scott I think your voice is at the right frequency I guess. I came in as a fan of gray. [TS]

00:37:12   That I've become a parade art. He says I also kind of want to call you a jerk. [TS]

00:37:19   Just so that you could Toga was Norty comes out. In fact now that he called me a check I'm going to call him. [TS]

00:37:29   There is a I said There we go. Thank you very much. Dirk. [TS]

00:37:32   The Scott I direct this guide are you even correcting that one. OK cry are you ready. Are you ready for the big wide. [TS]

00:37:44   OK Here we go. I'm going to send you the picture again he got your thing imaging of an M I message. [TS]

00:37:55   This comes from Chris. OK. And I as a as a you know there were there are numerous pictures. OK. This is one of them. [TS]

00:38:06   You make me nervous when you do things like this Brady I don't know why. Here comes the picture gray. OK. OK. [TS]

00:38:19   If you want to tell the listeners what you're looking at. Am I looking at Air Force One. [TS]

00:38:26   You are looking at someone holding up their i Phone playing hello internet. In front of Air Force One and they. [TS]

00:38:37   I'm guessing are a military personnel because they can see a little bit of the uniform on their arm. Sir. [TS]

00:38:45   It looks like someone who's going to get on Air Force One. Let me tell you that the same air from Chris. OK. [TS]

00:38:51   Now this him out. Has so many qualifications and I just want to say. [TS]

00:38:57   I'm not going to read them all big Chris could not has made it any clearer that he only listens to hello internet. [TS]

00:39:04   At appropriate times during downtime. When he is allowed to write he's not listening to hello internet. [TS]

00:39:11   When he's doing things that are mission critical. Or when he shouldn't. Of course. Of course. OK. [TS]

00:39:16   Now he's made that very clear. At Christmas like a very very responsible man. OK Got it. So he starts with said. [TS]

00:39:24   I like him ready. I'll start by getting to it. In regards to jobs while listening to hello internet section. [TS]

00:39:29   I feel I should contribute. I directly work supporting Air Force One missions for the Air Force. [TS]

00:39:35   I obviously can't this engine operations. Cetera et cetera et cetera. Special Missions. [TS]

00:39:40   Passenger Service or Sam Pax not only do I get to be involved in operations when the president flies in or out [TS]

00:39:47   but sometimes I actually am the guy driving the staircase truck that he climbs to get on to Air Force One [TS]

00:39:55   but very cool. So the guy that drives the president's stairs up to Air Force listeners to hello internet. [TS]

00:40:03   I assume he's not listening as he drives the stairs up to the plane. Of course. That's amazing. They. [TS]

00:40:11   Ask this was a perfect storm it involves planes involves the port cast it involves the president starts. [TS]

00:40:19   What more could you want and have great I guess. [TS]

00:40:22   I am assuming that says his staircase car on the right hand side the picture there is a Say he said he has said we are [TS]

00:40:30   allowed to use that picture of him holding the podcast up in front the plane he sent some other ones which we are not [TS]

00:40:36   to use. [TS]

00:40:38   And he was they sent lots of the press photos that shows like various dignitaries getting off the plane with him in the [TS]

00:40:43   background. Predecessors. The president he sent me a picture of him in the president. Self. [TS]

00:40:48   Very He says moving if the president is considered one of the very few no fail missions that Air Force is strictly [TS]

00:40:55   business so he's not listening to hello internet. That starts Tom's course. No of course not of course not. [TS]

00:41:00   That pretty good Air Force One. Are you impressed it did I meet your expectations. I am. [TS]

00:41:05   I am very impressed really did used to listen a whole bunch of e-mails asking for. We're not back. Now I don't. [TS]

00:41:12   I don't think so if they use. You know these are just the messages the people sent to you. [TS]

00:41:15   And there are loads of other ones I have been reading the middle of even saved a few good ones for next time [TS]

00:41:20   and you feel free to keep trying to send them in don't bother setting the degree of course because you will know why we [TS]

00:41:27   do all know why but yeah really liking these messages. I love hearing about them. [TS]

00:41:32   And I'm glad that you have a few ready for the next installment of stuff that people happen to do while they're [TS]

00:41:38   listening to our show corner. So I'd like to talk to you about one of today's sponsors and that's backed by lies. [TS]

00:41:45   Now I'm sure you've heard grace take on this. [TS]

00:41:48   And let's be honest he's a he's a little bit alarmist sometimes is in a back places service. That will back up. [TS]

00:41:55   Everything on your computer constantly worrying away in the background and saving all your precious zeros [TS]

00:42:00   and ones to an offsite server. Now Grace told you many times that when care task for a fee strikes. [TS]

00:42:07   And it almost certainly will. Back blaze will be your Savior. Because all your data is safe and secure. Offside. [TS]

00:42:14   Now this is true. I cannot be with this. And that's the main reason I use back place myself. [TS]

00:42:20   Protection and peace of mind. [TS]

00:42:22   But I don't want you to think of by places just like manna a Silent Guardian a watchful protector. [TS]

00:42:29   Today I'd like you to think of back plays as kind of like the best friend you could have in the world. Let's call him. [TS]

00:42:36   Now let me explain. But telling you about three of back places services. First they send you a casual a mouse. [TS]

00:42:43   Updating you on how your diet or is doing. How much is stored. [TS]

00:42:47   Maybe the warn you if they haven't heard from your computer in a while. Second. [TS]

00:42:51   They've got a really cool app and you can use this to access any single stood on their service. [TS]

00:42:57   Or your files you can access other people's files. But you can access any of your files stored on the service. [TS]

00:43:04   What a handy thing to be able to get into your files from your device remotely. [TS]

00:43:08   Now thirdly they can send you on physical drives which is really handy if you haven't really got the time [TS]

00:43:16   or the bandwidth to read download everything. Now those are three pretty handy things. [TS]

00:43:22   Let's get back to Dave or imagine all your most important photos and documents like physical ones. [TS]

00:43:28   A stored in cardboard boxes at a friend's house. Davis house. [TS]

00:43:33   Now that's all well and good and you have peace of mind but imagine this imagine if once a month. [TS]

00:43:39   Dave I went up into his last checked or your boxes. [TS]

00:43:42   And then sent you a text message just letting you know everything was OK. That'd be good wouldn't. [TS]

00:43:47   Also imagine Dave I gave you a spare key so that if you ever wanted to come and grab one or two things from the boxes. [TS]

00:43:54   Do or whether he was home or not. And lastly imagine if you wanted all your boxes back and diverse that no worries. [TS]

00:44:01   Put them in the back of his car. And personally drive them around to your house. [TS]

00:44:05   What a Friend ivory would pay and net is basically what back plies is doing with your data. [TS]

00:44:12   Much more of a body than Batman. But. But sort of kind of birth. A big gray love that analogy. [TS]

00:44:19   Now if you'd like to join back please me really should consider whether you're scared [TS]

00:44:23   or because you just think I sound nice. I can't recommend them highly enough. [TS]

00:44:28   It costs five dollars a month it's totally worth it. Here's what today. Go to bat Blaze dot com slash. Hello Internet. [TS]

00:44:36   So I know you came from here on the pod cast. And if you want to try before you buy. There's a risk free. [TS]

00:44:41   No credit card trial. I think you'll be impressed that address again is back Blaze dot com slash. Hello Internet. [TS]

00:44:51   Oh here's something interesting. Now look. I know you're going to be a bit reluctant to this. [TS]

00:44:58   And you saying that literally my whole body clench up with with the resistance before my have even heard what it is. [TS]

00:45:07   And I also don't want to set precedent. So this isn't going to work a second time. [TS]

00:45:12   This is not because the because this is the first one of these I've got I'm going to give it the benefit of the doubt [TS]

00:45:18   and try my luck with grass. OK. It says. Hello Brady. [TS]

00:45:25   This message is intended for Gray That's normally the point at which I delayed a mouse. [TS]

00:45:30   But sorry guys but this of a whole area. Seriously I used. [TS]

00:45:36   I really don't read on the Had an interesting subject line and it was a very short a map so I did radio. [TS]

00:45:42   Gosh I'm going to struggle with this. I have lexical gustatory just a total gustatory lexical gustatory city state or. [TS]

00:45:55   The way Gray says. Composed. As in the word composed. Composed. Yes. Apparently Ysaye that tastes like very good. [TS]

00:46:05   Raspberry yoga or you get pending on how you like to say Yokoyama. Oh the words with pose in them. [TS]

00:46:12   Taste like raspberry a get but the way Gray pronounces it taste. Extra good. [TS]

00:46:17   Here at ten other words that I would like to taste. Grace saying OK. [TS]

00:46:22   Before you go any further can we just explain to the listeners who are not aware. [TS]

00:46:26   What Cynthia is because I think otherwise this is yet very confusing. [TS]

00:46:30   Well hopefully their own number Fabio's and I've seen some of my scene in stages videos. [TS]

00:46:35   So we shouldn't have to but just in case they haven't. That's true. [TS]

00:46:38   We can assume that everybody who listens to the show has watched every one of your number file videos. [TS]

00:46:43   Yet [TS]

00:46:43   but on the off chance that they have not been as easy a is a condition where your senses are cross connected in unexpected [TS]

00:46:53   ways. [TS]

00:46:54   So that the usual example that is given is that when people look at numbers those numbers are coloured [TS]

00:47:01   or they perceive colors every time so seven is very yellow or three is very pink. [TS]

00:47:07   And there are also cross connections like this person seems to have which are taste [TS]

00:47:12   or smell the go along with sounds so it fits so this person has the taste. [TS]

00:47:18   Version of this which is crossed with sound so when they hear particular sounds. They also experience. Tastes. [TS]

00:47:26   Brains are funny. So when Gray says. Composed. Listener is tasting. Raspberry you get right there say they have that. [TS]

00:47:34   Just ten words here that I would like you to say they haven't said what these words would taste locks on hoping they [TS]

00:47:40   will then a mile me again and tell me what they taste like after you said them. Well they've the person. [TS]

00:47:44   Very likely doesn't know what the words will to me. When I well we're about to find out. But the interesting thing is. [TS]

00:47:50   And the Romney reason I'm doing this is because the tenth word. They think my vision would taste better than yours. [TS]

00:47:59   Feels like a very strange thing or about their do. So say is non-words they want to test for me and the tenth word. [TS]

00:48:06   They want to test for me. Ok going to get they're going to get both of us anyway. [TS]

00:48:11   All the words are you ready career ready gray. Yeah. All the all the gustatory synthetics out there. Get ready. [TS]

00:48:18   Get your. Get your knives and forks out. [TS]

00:48:19   You're going for here in for a trait or in for something horrible depending on how your brain is wired Are you ready. [TS]

00:48:28   Because because you know you could say in more light. Sexy grey voice you know like say oh like. [TS]

00:48:35   You know you know me give it give it give it the trick. And you ready. Because because welcome. Welcome. Before before. [TS]

00:48:48   Like like integral in trouble possibility. Possibility. Who are like that even I like that word. [TS]

00:49:00   Whether that is likely other that there was just so full of possibility that when you said waiting waiting. Family. [TS]

00:49:10   Family. Passion. Thing we're Brady. Passion. And his last one and apparently. [TS]

00:49:19   This is the one that was Sam better coming from a party. Party. [TS]

00:49:27   I can see why that would taste better if you say it really it sounds nicer when you say it. [TS]

00:49:33   The words sound very different when you say them. Versus when I say them. But I think we need to also ask this person. [TS]

00:49:39   What Noddy sounds like when you say it versus [TS]

00:49:41   when I say it because then you see that word completely differently for me. [TS]

00:49:45   You put such a spin on that word as to make everybody who hears you say it on comfortable. Well. [TS]

00:49:52   I don't think that's true [TS]

00:49:52   but I also say in different ways depending on the type of know Tina's I'm referring to a ready sheep shagger just the [TS]

00:49:59   way you said it right that. Always does little. There's always this little Brady twist on it. [TS]

00:50:07   I think that's in your mind. It's not of I've often seen your voice. [TS]

00:50:12   Ever going to need to have a content warning for all the naughtiness in this episode. [TS]

00:50:18   You're not going to censor it out again. I think there is there's just too much this time around. [TS]

00:50:23   It is too much notice. [TS]

00:50:25   May help it under the first time as a joke [TS]

00:50:27   but I'm not sure I can keep it up for the whole of it because that was actually a lot of work. [TS]

00:50:31   The last ten minutes of our previous show. Right when I didn't need any extra work. There's a whole lot of it. [TS]

00:50:39   You know I haven't even looked at no to follow this just been making three bits of paper my. [TS]

00:50:45   We just plunged into this without even how without even knowing about it. [TS]

00:50:50   Wow I think I give them time you've been going a long time there's something I want to mention. [TS]

00:50:53   Those are the something out of my cars quickly. I can spend an hour you can finally mention something. [TS]

00:51:00   Every hour you can have one. [TS]

00:51:02   Great thank you and I would have totally forgotten this had it not been for the earlier person who wrote in. [TS]

00:51:09   But the thing that I want to mention before I forget it is that many shows ago. [TS]

00:51:14   I said that I had been developing this theory about Derek. A very Tassie him. And that theory was. [TS]

00:51:22   In addition to being disease vector Derek. Who travels around and spreads disease. [TS]

00:51:27   Everywhere he goes when he made me sick. That one time I met him up in London. [TS]

00:51:31   I also have this feeling that Derrick Derrick's fundamental nature is somewhat quantum him that you ended up meeting up [TS]

00:51:39   with him in New York. Was it not it was it was Boston and then New Austin. [TS]

00:51:44   It was Boston and then New York where you just discovered. [TS]

00:51:48   You attempted to observe Derek basically and determine that he was in the hotel where you were staying. [TS]

00:51:52   Unbeknownst to either of you. And this happened a couple of times. And sure enough. [TS]

00:51:59   I fly to the other side of the earth. To Hawaii. And where is Derek. [TS]

00:52:05   But his on the exact same island the exact same side as me. [TS]

00:52:11   Just thought this is this is further proof of Derek want to meet her everywhere you go. [TS]

00:52:16   Derek is between Chili there so Derek and I had a little meet up. When we were in Hawaii and it was great to see him. [TS]

00:52:23   Evidence for quantum Derek. Observed in Hawaii. The dick particle. [TS]

00:52:28   Yes the third particle the darkness the retrieve and do it. The deep attic Oh the Derek particle. [TS]

00:52:37   By Eric Patika very good work everywhere. That's right. Every Were you tempted reserve it there it is that's actually. [TS]

00:52:44   Derek's actually the next thing they're looking for the Large Hadron Collider no less increase their power. [TS]

00:52:49   They have a Higgs bosons taken care of by one of their want to narrow down exactly where Derek is using that. Exactly. [TS]

00:52:57   So I had a really interesting. Interaction. [TS]

00:53:03   When I sleep back from Iraq I was waiting for my luggage to come off the plan [TS]

00:53:09   and a young man came up to me with his phone with pretty posh set of headphones and said You're Brady are you on the. [TS]

00:53:20   Yes and yes I was just listening to hello internet on that flood and I thought I saw it. [TS]

00:53:25   So is name was Jake and he listens to hello internet. [TS]

00:53:30   Nine did he listen to hello internet on apply and he listen to hello internet on a plane with me. Wow. [TS]

00:53:37   With one half of the podcast. And I don't think. [TS]

00:53:40   I don't think that will ever be Dayton because the only way you could be that would be to listen to how they went on [TS]

00:53:44   apply and with both of us. And where actually contractually not allowed to fly on the same plan. [TS]

00:53:50   Already has it's like how the row family's not allowed to put too many people in line to the throne. On one slot. [TS]

00:53:58   Because if the worst the worst happens like hello internet which be wiped out in one plane crash that was has to be one [TS]

00:54:03   of us. Not on the blind. You know what I have to tell you something very new and your plane crash corners. [TS]

00:54:12   So I took all these flights. Every single flight I was on. I had the exact same thought. Which is that if I die. [TS]

00:54:21   Somehow I'm going to end up on some version of plane crash corner. That you do. [TS]

00:54:27   Because of because if I die right there needs to be some message that I go the hello internet pod cast is over [TS]

00:54:32   and like Oh I'm I'm going to be going down on an airplane [TS]

00:54:37   and my last thought is is Brady's going to be doing a plane crash corner on number file. Mentioning that C.D.P. [TS]

00:54:43   Gray has died the whole plane crash corner thing. I think about it now and my own mortality. Every time. [TS]

00:54:49   I'm on a plane. Every plane ride. Great on like this. Yeah. If you eat in a plane crash. [TS]

00:54:56   I will not be doing a plane crash corner about it. Yeah. [TS]

00:54:59   You sure know that right now it wouldn't be extremely tempting. [TS]

00:55:04   You know watch air plants and air air crash investigator for the flight that I was on. [TS]

00:55:09   You think some good friend of mine doesn't a plane crash and I'm going to exploit and make like a playing. [TS]

00:55:14   Plane Crash corner at a going to crazy. [TS]

00:55:16   There's going to be a going to be like a plane crash corner on on Brady stuff for C. To be Grey's plane. [TS]

00:55:22   That's all I could think of a few times. OK where you keep if you think about that scientists just know. [TS]

00:55:27   That won't happen. [TS]

00:55:28   Oh yes let your last thoughts just before the plane smashes into the ocean just know that won't happen. OK. [TS]

00:55:37   OK OK where this Bob Katter's made flying more difficult for the funny that your fear is an anon going to die I'm not [TS]

00:55:45   going to happen to me after death or is it going to hurt your fear is what's Brady going to do [TS]

00:55:50   when it's on the Internet a lot say that that's my fear anything [TS]

00:55:55   but it was just the thought that I couldn't help think. [TS]

00:55:58   On every flight that I took this summer and there have been many fly into Still another one guy. [TS]

00:56:05   Yes there is still one more actually this the least two more I get to pass Dulles for let's see. Like the sixth time. [TS]

00:56:14   The in this this summer. Yeah. I think I think this will be the sixth time I get to go to Dulles. The summer. [TS]

00:56:20   Not looking to you want to give us. Do you want to give us. Dallas airport Kona. [TS]

00:56:24   What's what's the latest happening there. Chewbacca. You take over from here. [TS]

00:56:31   Well just briefly say that I hate this airport. And we're glad we're flying to my parents. Going through Dallas and. [TS]

00:56:41   We have to spend some time in this horrible airport that again is just every section of it alternates from freezing [TS]

00:56:48   cold. To eighty five degrees and eighty percent humidity like they managed to recreate a tropical jungle on the inside. [TS]

00:56:55   And I'm looking at the disgusting carpet in the low ceilings interesting like God I hate this place. [TS]

00:57:00   No we spent some time in Dallas in the Great. I'm going to leave this airport. We're just going right. But know Dulles. [TS]

00:57:06   Always gets you in so. The flying out of Dulles flying down to North Carolina. [TS]

00:57:13   And there's a huge storm apparently in North Carolina that we're trying to fly around. [TS]

00:57:18   And so there's a Where in this big turbulent aircraft. I'm already feeling not very well and now we have turbulence. [TS]

00:57:25   And once again the thinking of the podcast. [TS]

00:57:28   The pilot comes on after we've been flying for maybe two hours and he's like Hey everybody. We're running out of fuel. [TS]

00:57:36   Tempting to land in North Carolina because of this storm. [TS]

00:57:40   So I'm just going to radio Brady so he can get recoding on his next plane because you know [TS]

00:57:44   and again as always with the stuff I'm thinking. Why are you telling me that we're running out of fuel. [TS]

00:57:49   I don't need to whatever. Whatever your next sentence is going to be. You could have skipped the. [TS]

00:57:54   We're running out of fuel. Part of of the first sentence but anyway. [TS]

00:57:58   He could have gone straight to we're going to crash. Well. Almost as bad. He says. [TS]

00:58:03   We have to turn around and go back to Dulles. I would have almost rather attempted a crash landing in North Carolina. [TS]

00:58:11   Than here that we have to turn around and go back to Dulles. To smash it into a mountain which I guess. But then. [TS]

00:58:20   But this is why why do you tell me we're running out of fuel. [TS]

00:58:22   And then that we're going back the way that we've just come because there's apparently nowhere else to land on the [TS]

00:58:27   eastern seaboard except Dulles. Yes that we turn around. We fly back to Dulles. [TS]

00:58:33   We are we get there I don't know I'd like to in the morning. Or some ungodly hour and of the can. [TS]

00:58:37   Doris right it always gets you. So we have to go to an airport. As I then had to go to a hotel. [TS]

00:58:43   And then come back to Dulles again the next day to fly out. It's just like man. I do not like this airports. [TS]

00:58:50   And it and it makes me pass through it even more than I normally should be I [TS]

00:58:55   when they said are flying back to Dallas I thought I can't believe this. [TS]

00:58:57   Do you have to consider other routes or is there no choice is the only way you can the the answer. [TS]

00:59:05   I think is the answer is continuing on from our earlier conversation is that if I'm going. [TS]

00:59:09   Using the standby method that I always do. Dulles is always going to be the option. [TS]

00:59:14   That I'm taking of there are other planes that exist in the world. [TS]

00:59:17   But the standby route on United where I want to get is always going to go through Dallas. [TS]

00:59:21   Grants time to let stand by the ground. You know he thinks Oh I think about this. [TS]

00:59:29   The only thing in Dallas that I was kind of interested to discover who talked about those tank. Truck. [TS]

00:59:36   Ads that transport you from terminal to terminal at ICE and Co. They do sound cool. [TS]

00:59:41   I did find in Dallas if you look in the right spots. You can see. Disused infrastructure. [TS]

00:59:47   From where those things used to connect into the terminals. And where they now go into nothing. There are some doors. [TS]

00:59:53   That just open out into open space. Twenty feet over the ground. [TS]

00:59:59   And I realized I always thought what are these stupid doors the go to nowhere and I are [TS]

01:00:04   and then I figured out last time I go oh right of course. These are disused docking points for transport. [TS]

01:00:11   At Dulles loading days. So if you're at Dulles Airport. And you see a door. [TS]

01:00:16   That could injure you severely few walk through it. That is the old Dulles. Infrastructure. [TS]

01:00:24   So you may be there right now. So find the like a fun scavenger hunt. To do at the world's most terrible airport. [TS]

01:00:31   So let's talk about watches for a second. Oh yeah you want talk watches. Course at I know you did have had these sane. [TS]

01:00:39   This new watch that combines a coup Swiss watch and. A Apple Watch. Have I seen it. [TS]

01:00:49   My whole Twitter feed has been filled with this dual purpose watch from. Hello Internet listeners. [TS]

01:00:56   I think people were pretty came first talk about that with that didn't leave the impression that I got of anything that [TS]

01:01:05   is anything that's happened in the past three weeks. [TS]

01:01:07   This was overwhelmingly the thing that clearly people were dying for us to talk about was the Swiss watch. [TS]

01:01:14   Stroke Apple Watch. Two in one watch. [TS]

01:01:17   So we're doing to people might to it if it lit up say a ha I thought a plane busting crash. Anyway. [TS]

01:01:25   So do you want to quickly describe it for the very few of you who listen to the pod cast [TS]

01:01:31   and didn't tweet us about his watch. It is a. If you think of a traditional link. Watch for man. [TS]

01:01:40   This was a watch that has a normal face. On the front a normal analog. Watch face. [TS]

01:01:45   And very cleverly the links go around and on the underside of the wrist. [TS]

01:01:51   They made the connecting with the called of the connecting slugs. For the Apple Watch. So the bottom line is that. [TS]

01:02:00   You have a normal looking watch on your wrist. And on the underside of your wrist. Very discreetly I would imagine. [TS]

01:02:08   You have the Apple Watch. There. And I actually thought this was kind of a brilliant idea. [TS]

01:02:15   I think it's ridiculously expensive. Seen people toss around some crazy numbers. [TS]

01:02:19   But I thought the fundamental idea wasn't bad. And it is HIS it's just I'm not saying I would do it Brady. [TS]

01:02:27   But [TS]

01:02:27   when we were talking last time about what would you wear two watches one on each wrist of course not no that's just dumb. [TS]

01:02:34   It never occurred to me to watch is on one wrist. Well. Now maybe there's something to this. But it's. [TS]

01:02:41   But from your from your huge sigh I presume you have other thoughts about this stupid. It's cheated. [TS]

01:02:48   Yeah you think it's stupid. Yeah that'll watch tells the time. If you want to tell that like. I think it's ridiculous. [TS]

01:02:55   Auden I'm. [TS]

01:02:56   I made my thoughts clear about it with one of my responding to a TZ where I made my own version of that also includes a [TS]

01:03:03   cheese grater. You know if you want to like I like. [TS]

01:03:06   I use cheese graters and I think they're useful sometimes but one to my watch. [TS]

01:03:11   Yeah that's that's the perfect analogy for the situation Brady. [TS]

01:03:14   Abdomen Thank you I thought you'd like that I won't try to pick that apart in the slightest I'm just going to get all [TS]

01:03:19   the value out of that I can get I just think it no it's still a whole a love that love your voice right now you just. [TS]

01:03:29   It's like you're so frustrated you don't even know what I mean. [TS]

01:03:33   Well it's not going to catch on anyway I said doesn't matter but it's not going to catch on because it's a fortune. [TS]

01:03:39   Yeah but even if it was shaped the whole point of people to get it. [TS]

01:03:44   The people who are going to shun the Apple Watch and stick with a nice Swiss watch. [TS]

01:03:51   Like the classiness of a nice Swiss watch. It's not like this it's not like they're thinking. [TS]

01:03:58   Oh the Swiss watches got a real utilities may [TS]

01:04:00   but I also want you to Lety of an Apple Watch site that spot them together [TS]

01:04:04   and have something that doesn't look quite as nice and classy but does but it's like. It's a decision. [TS]

01:04:10   My thought on this is that let's each thing. Be the thing that it wants to be. [TS]

01:04:14   You have now the good will not I thought let's face it is not and it does not grow. [TS]

01:04:18   It's not letting the Swiss watch be the thing the Swiss watch should say. [TS]

01:04:22   Because a good Swiss watch doesn't have some pace of modern electronic equipments hanging off its bomb. Listen. [TS]

01:04:28   The the Swiss watches on top. Taking the glory position that everybody thinks the of. And it looks really good. [TS]

01:04:36   And then the Apple Watch. Is the workhorse. On the other side where people are less likely to see it. [TS]

01:04:42   But it can still provide all the functionality of tapping you on the wrist for notifications. [TS]

01:04:46   And presumably it can still do the health monitoring stuff from that location of measuring your heart rate [TS]

01:04:52   and everything else I thought. I thought this is a good I thought this is a good idea. [TS]

01:04:56   I don't think it sufficiently discrete but let's say it is sufficiently to scrape it still completely ignores the ho. [TS]

01:05:02   Fact of tradition. Now locked in a minute yeah the tradition of a war of in our fashion which people like to. [TS]

01:05:09   I mean yeah I can never argue against your position of. We used to do things a different way and now we don't. I mean. [TS]

01:05:16   Yeah. You win that one. [TS]

01:05:19   We used to do things that I care we're now who's made [TS]

01:05:21   and he's making a stupid argument I think my argument is perfectly reasonable here [TS]

01:05:24   and your argument is I like the way things used to be done don't ever change them. Yeah right. [TS]

01:05:28   One little thing about why this caught my attention right away is because when I actually first had my apple watch. [TS]

01:05:33   I thought you know. Let me try to where you can. You're going to hate this. It's because it's a this I just realized. [TS]

01:05:41   But when I had my Apple Watch actually tried it for maybe a day. Putting the face. On the wrist. [TS]

01:05:47   Because I thought it feels like it's more comfortable actually. [TS]

01:05:51   If you're using the screen sometimes and pressing the buttons to have the face on the wrist. [TS]

01:05:56   On the bottom of the wrist as opposed to the top of the wrist. So have truly tried wearing my watch. [TS]

01:06:01   The other way around. And I came to the conclusion that. Yes it is more comfortable. [TS]

01:06:05   But it does not outweigh how dumb it looks to where you watch. That way. [TS]

01:06:10   That's another reason why I felt pretty a mean a ball. To this double watch. Look with your traditional one on top. [TS]

01:06:17   Well. [TS]

01:06:18   And your there was a lot of no home no I'm not on a bit surprised you like it [TS]

01:06:21   but I'm not entirely surprised because the sort of person who likes an apple watch different to me already. [TS]

01:06:30   I'm hardly get a big surprise that they like this thing which I think is stupid as well. [TS]

01:06:35   What are you wearing on your wrist right right now don't you have a whole bunch of watches and a new watch. Maybe. [TS]

01:06:40   Is there new watch in your life. I'm wearing my statement as to the moment that I do have a new watch. [TS]

01:06:46   Tell me about your new watch because I got I got a message from you from Morocco. While I'm in Hawaii. [TS]

01:06:52   About something that had caught your eye. In a local store. [TS]

01:06:57   Not wasn't it wasn't local Was it not I I was in pain even news I thought that junky store that you sent me a picture [TS]

01:07:03   of that was horrifying with stuff everywhere where you found this watch. Like in a class in a box. [TS]

01:07:08   I was just say I was shopping on the Internet and just. [TS]

01:07:11   I think of getting it for a while and eventually I saw I have to have a port online and. [TS]

01:07:16   Let me get it for you first because it makes a lovely sound hang on. OK We're going to get our. [TS]

01:07:23   Hello again Internet Bradys just a way of getting to watch for who knows where I don't know why so. [TS]

01:07:30   So against these Apple or the store at all. Oh. Them in my absence. [TS]

01:07:33   So I was a I saw sort of horse leg right at like they're like hens take the video three surprise us all went out in the [TS]

01:07:40   wild today. To his his money you arched like the spade master. It's a manual watch so you have to wind it up. [TS]

01:07:50   But this is actually noisier than the speed master say you can hear. Wind up here if there is it winding it up. [TS]

01:07:56   This thing over the thing isn't a great noise. That does sound very nice. [TS]

01:08:04   Said a guy I have a new watch is a Smiths watches a Smiths to Lux and this is an. This is an old OUR would watch from. [TS]

01:08:13   I think this one it's was nineteen fifty four. [TS]

01:08:17   This is one of the two types of watch that the Everest climb is used when they got to the top. In fifty three and and. [TS]

01:08:25   There is much debate to be had that apparently. [TS]

01:08:29   Edmund Hillary was wearing one of they when he got to the top and Tenzing I think Mother been wearing a relative's. [TS]

01:08:36   But because the expedition we using Rolex and the Smiths watches. [TS]

01:08:41   Smith has gone out of business now that I need they don't exist anymore it's an English watch not Swiss watch. [TS]

01:08:45   And it's just a lovely old thing. And I just wanted to have a and got it it sounds very nice. [TS]

01:08:54   I told you on insta message is not my. My aesthetic preference for watches but it isn't really good looking. [TS]

01:09:01   Watch in the abstract. I'm noticing a bit of a theme with you for explorers watches. [TS]

01:09:07   That is that fair to say that is fair to say let me just send you another picture of it I took. [TS]

01:09:13   I have another question about this go ahead. Guy so. Just a hypothetical here. Let's say. The first man on Mars. [TS]

01:09:23   Lands wearing an apple watch. Does that change your feeling about Apple watches. Would you like the more. [TS]

01:09:29   Well no because that's that's not like it's not an out historic thing anymore but in fifty years. [TS]

01:09:38   Someone like many liking it. [TS]

01:09:40   But you but you wouldn't feel I have this whole collection of explorers watches in the building up. Now. [TS]

01:09:46   Now I need an apple watch. Because someone landed on. Freaking Mars with a with an Apple Watch now. [TS]

01:09:52   Now you feel it would be a bit more commercial eight days and have a look heaven is picture. [TS]

01:09:56   OK I'm looking at the picture. This is a. This is a picture I took last night. [TS]

01:09:59   The new watch how that's it that's a good looking picture of that watch. It is it is old and beat up. [TS]

01:10:06   But that's a great photo of it. I think it does it more justice to me that is kind of what it looks like now. [TS]

01:10:11   That looks good it's it's smaller than the state must. Kind of ten gold looking with big numbers. [TS]

01:10:19   Here's a picture of it next to the spade mastiff. How many of these can I send for you to tell me to stop. [TS]

01:10:25   Not very many more not have the poor listener in mind. Who is always to record I gotta be talking with you. [TS]

01:10:36   Not listening to a show called. Brady sends me pictures of his watches. And I tell him they are nice. [TS]

01:10:45   Yes those are two very nice watches I think I thought you were of those two. Next to an Apple larger scale though. [TS]

01:10:50   I think that. Well you know I have to get paid master you say no I do I do. [TS]

01:10:55   I'm sorry you say all these nice things about my watches and I just keep telling you that I don't want the Apple Watch. [TS]

01:11:01   It's OK I don't need you like the Apple Watch I just think your dislike of it is funny. [TS]

01:11:05   I want to I was trying to think of something us to say about it and I couldn't think of anything. [TS]

01:12:18   It's a pretty good deal. Once again. Thanks to Harry's for supporting the show. [TS]

01:12:24   Sorry let's talk about something you tube related. For a change. [TS]

01:12:29   All right now isn't this a stance of Leo podcast about the fact that where You Tube are is like a rag. [TS]

01:12:37   Size as Dana has a story change. And he cheated and. [TS]

01:12:42   They have done a lady with the view Countess freezing at three I won. [TS]

01:12:47   It has been for as long as I have known You Tube anyway. They have always. If you have a popular video for the first. [TS]

01:12:54   I mean I remember when I was doing. My very first videos it would sometimes be for more than twenty four hours. [TS]

01:13:02   That if you had a popular video it would just say three hundred or three hundred one views for a day. [TS]

01:13:08   And you would have no idea how many views the video was actually getting. [TS]

01:13:11   And the the usual reason that I've heard from You Tube about why they paused it was because they were trying to check [TS]

01:13:18   and make sure. Through their algorithms that all of the views were legitimate. [TS]

01:13:23   That there wasn't somebody just running a server farm somewhere reloading the page constantly to bump up the view [TS]

01:13:29   numbers on a video. So they could pay. How to go to three hundred and then they just stopped it. Which was. [TS]

01:13:36   I always thought was a really weird thing like Why don't you. Why didn't they just write below the video. [TS]

01:13:41   New video in the space where the view counter was because it has led to arguments from people because you could see [TS]

01:13:48   that a V. [TS]

01:13:49   Video for example was getting thousands of thumbs up and thumbs down but still has three hundred views [TS]

01:13:55   and so there was always an argument about how can these two things be true and then somebody would have to lean in [TS]

01:14:01   and explain what the situation was. [TS]

01:14:03   I don't know why they had the view that all why they didn't just write new video at the bottom. [TS]

01:14:07   But you have been profiting from this very confusion for a couple of years now with your video on the phenomenon. [TS]

01:14:15   On not I made a video explaining it but ye which East. [TS]

01:14:19   We don't talk to me about much [TS]

01:14:20   but obviously you're uncomfortable with it for various reasons that you don't tell me why they use your skeptical about [TS]

01:14:26   the whole thing. But anyway. [TS]

01:14:28   What are you talking about all the while you just whenever you talk about it you're kind of the be funny about it. [TS]

01:14:33   Not not the my video but just thought the whole three hundred three hundred one thing. And I. It's. [TS]

01:14:38   And it's three hundred one it's not three hundred one of the main purpose of the house video is to say watch three [TS]

01:14:44   hundred one hundred or three hundred three hundred. [TS]

01:14:47   At least would have sort of same two of night sense in some arbitrary WIPA three hundred [TS]

01:14:51   and one has just was just bizarre. But this was this was an error in a sofa coding and out by one. Coding error. [TS]

01:14:59   Because it was supposed to be three hundred Someone must up with a greater than equal sign. [TS]

01:15:07   So I knew I have done away with that that I've decided they have the technology now to be testing that shapes in real [TS]

01:15:14   time and not have to stop for a while and have a breath and have a little think about it [TS]

01:15:18   and in all fairness to You Tube This is something they have gotten better at over time that I have noticed the videos [TS]

01:15:22   have been updating faster and faster and faster with what the numbers are. [TS]

01:15:27   Yes I remember posting videos in the morning and staying up really late at night. [TS]

01:15:32   Hoping and hoping to be able to refresh and have some sense of how the video is doing. [TS]

01:15:36   And then just having to go to sleep in see it in the next morning. [TS]

01:15:38   And now they've gotten it down to on the order of hours. [TS]

01:15:41   And obviously Currently they're just they're able to do it in real enough time where they the very first thing I did [TS]

01:15:47   when I heard about this was a message to you I think and said I'm really sorry about your three hundred video. [TS]

01:15:53   Three zero one video that. [TS]

01:15:58   Is it with you you've gotten out by want to do it raised very but brain has an alibi the one error. [TS]

01:16:05   He has I thought you know your video that was going to perpetually make advertising revenue for you is now done. [TS]

01:16:11   But you told me that you two has made a special day. Special dispensation for your video that right. [TS]

01:16:17   I know the view counters freezing on three I won would never happen again. On you cheapen. Except for on one video a. [TS]

01:16:26   My video. I like that someone has hardcoded this. Into the two platform. That that video by Brady will always display. [TS]

01:16:35   Three hundred in one as the view count on was a bit funny about it first because that video has been watched by out [TS]

01:16:43   three and a half million times which is quite a few years for anybody. For me anyway. So I was. [TS]

01:16:50   I was a bit said to be losing a three and a half million video. [TS]

01:16:53   You can't carry my Save A but the more I think about it the more I think it's better this way. Yeah. [TS]

01:17:00   Knowing that someone at youtube took the time to special code something for just your video that's the way better than [TS]

01:17:05   having the view counter there the only other video that I am pretty sure has the same thing is there is a Futurama clip [TS]

01:17:13   of the alien species that feels perfectly neutral about everything [TS]

01:17:16   and there's the quick to second clip of someone saying I have. [TS]

01:17:19   I have no opinions on this matter now that they say something like. [TS]

01:17:23   I don't feel strongly about this one way or the other. [TS]

01:17:26   Yet and it must be hard coded that the number of thumbs up and thumbs down on that video is always exactly equal. [TS]

01:17:32   It's not one of these things where the community does it together. It's always exact. [TS]

01:17:37   So I have to assume that someone has hardcoded that in net because people link to that on Reddit a bunch [TS]

01:17:42   and I have never seen it with even being off by one. [TS]

01:17:47   I may be wrong but I'd be curious to know if people can try to make it off by one but I think the number [TS]

01:17:51   but the numbers do changed not the same number the numbers go up. [TS]

01:17:55   But the number of thumbs up and thumbs down is always different as always exactly the same. That's co. [TS]

01:18:00   That's that's the only other one I know of that. That's like that. So it's a coup for you. Case may happen. [TS]

01:18:06   Now [TS]

01:18:06   but no one's going to link that video anymore because there's not going to be no more confusion so it is passed into history. [TS]

01:18:12   Maybe to be like that Reddit thing you said with a some this may be a. [TS]

01:18:16   You know every six months or so I someone on Reddit would notice and say oh look this one still stuck on three one. [TS]

01:18:22   Maybe on maybe no middle of another I don't think so no no never mind the times changed [TS]

01:18:30   and times change we'll gotten by silly. Double sided watch isn't exactly. Here. That's how that works. [TS]

01:18:37   Save an integrated. [TS]

01:18:40   Google plus have buy from you cheap as well as changing something that you know anything about that. [TS]

01:18:46   I have been off to him to net for this whole travel time. Essentially so. [TS]

01:18:52   I only know the barest of things from Twitter. But that yes Google Plus. [TS]

01:18:56   And You Tube are being an integrated or not requiring integration and. [TS]

01:19:02   I don't understand at all how this is going to work. I you know I don't get. [TS]

01:19:06   I don't get the whole thing but the bottom line is that. [TS]

01:19:09   It seems like Google is finally admitting in some small way that Google plus is the total failure. That it is. [TS]

01:19:16   And then. Nobody likes it. Not not a single person on the face of the earth. [TS]

01:19:21   Like Google has until maybe they're going to make it go away. And I still. I only have. [TS]

01:19:30   Three You Tube channels that I manage. I'm nowhere near like you with dozens. [TS]

01:19:35   And I still can't figure out what the heck I'm supposed to do with the plus pages managing an otherwise. [TS]

01:19:42   I don't know if I have. [TS]

01:19:43   I have contacted people at Google that can you give me a diagram like what like what is the structure supposed to look [TS]

01:19:50   like with these Google plus pages in the as I have no idea. [TS]

01:19:54   Every once in a while when I log into youtube I have a small heart attack. Because it looks. [TS]

01:19:59   You know I look on the corner and says. [TS]

01:20:00   C G P gray and I'm logged in and I go to click on my videos and there's nothing there. [TS]

01:20:06   And every time I go because my whole livelihood has just been thrown into the into doubt [TS]

01:20:12   and it's a go right of course I have some bizarre duplicate Google Plus page. That I can't get rid of. [TS]

01:20:19   Because you know that I don't even know why that I don't use for anything. [TS]

01:20:23   It's just a mistake right now get rid of about the house say it was treated [TS]

01:20:27   and claw back from a right that because I started all these channels and did all these things [TS]

01:20:32   when Google plus was like at its heart of being forced upon us so right on going that they stuck with these nineteen [TS]

01:20:38   thousand different. Multiples layered Logans for the rest of my life. And disentangling is going to is impossible. [TS]

01:20:45   So this is my concern as well is OK great no more Google plus and You Tube. Thumbs up. [TS]

01:20:50   But am I now going to be stuck with two layers of legacy on my youtube account. [TS]

01:20:56   Because I have some legacy stuff because I set up stuff before Google plus that they never were able to get rid of [TS]

01:21:03   when they integrated and now the good now they're now that their underling is like a great. [TS]

01:21:08   Like what was so bad about being about making an account on youtube. I don't I. [TS]

01:21:13   I never understood Well I mean I kind of know why they wanted to have Google plus happen. [TS]

01:21:17   But it was just a very frustrating situation I'm glad it's gone. Nobody like Google Plus. Nobody will miss Google Plus. [TS]

01:21:24   I tell you what if someone following. Sort of you cheap news so old is a new player in three I won. [TS]

01:21:31   And Google Plus I'm going listen to hello internet because I was to you cheap expect second has been really interesting [TS]

01:21:36   in so it's OK. And they've changed in and it's just you and I talking about words that tie slight rise for you. [TS]

01:21:45   The only I do have one more piece of You Tube news while we're doing a little bit of a youtube segment here. Yet. [TS]

01:21:50   Did you see the thing about their new diamond button. I did. Now. So good You Tube now has a new button. [TS]

01:21:59   This is like a treaty that gets sent out. [TS]

01:22:01   This is a trophy that gets sent out to paper by the way it's not like a button that he's on your screen. [TS]

01:22:06   It's a physical trophy. That junk up your house is what they send out to you and. [TS]

01:22:11   My understanding from memory is that it is for ten million subscribers. They send you the diamond button. [TS]

01:22:18   Which is a level above. [TS]

01:22:19   I guess it's silver silver four hundred thousand gold for a million and diamond for ten million. [TS]

01:22:27   It's interesting I wonder. Because subscribers a becoming a less important metric I think says that. [TS]

01:22:33   Importance of a You Tube channel. [TS]

01:22:34   Single Now I say it's interesting they're still sort of I think the ante and they're making that. [TS]

01:22:40   The thing to look at and not few counts things. And right. [TS]

01:22:44   I agree with you that it is interesting that two things about this. This button that I think are interesting. [TS]

01:22:49   One is precisely what you said that You Tube still wants to have some reward [TS]

01:22:55   and some focus on building your subscriber base which is which is just in the chair in the world of what messages are [TS]

01:23:04   companies sending out I think that's an interesting message. [TS]

01:23:07   And and second because from my perspective the You Tube subscriber numbers are. [TS]

01:23:13   Fiddled with a no and their SO determined by precisely how You Tube. Changes algorithms and set that sets things up. [TS]

01:23:23   I almost think that the ten million number. My first thought was that seems low. [TS]

01:23:28   Because it seems like a almost a low number to have the next big crossover point be. [TS]

01:23:37   I may know that I know they're just going by orders of ten here [TS]

01:23:40   but there are some You Tube channels with just on godly numbers of subscribers [TS]

01:23:45   but I am also aware that the subscriber number used to be the number one thing that I looked at [TS]

01:23:52   and I judge my whole career based on the the subscriber number. And I remember when I was debating. [TS]

01:23:58   Leaving my full time teaching. [TS]

01:24:00   I had a spreadsheet with a number of subscribers that I wanted to hit where I thought You Tube would be viable as a [TS]

01:24:08   career and so I was just so focused on subscriber numbers. And I'm now aware that because of some changes at You Tube. [TS]

01:24:14   I never think about subscriber numbers. I don't. I don't promote people to subscribe to the channel it's I. [TS]

01:24:23   It's just not a number that that crosses my mind anymore as I think much more in terms of subscribers to my email list. [TS]

01:24:30   And also views on a video. But I'm really aware of the subscriber number just having completely. [TS]

01:24:37   Slipped from my mind in terms of important metric that I need to track. [TS]

01:24:40   And yes I agree a used to be something I actually just today. [TS]

01:24:44   Someone I'm friends with past five hundred thousand subscribers. [TS]

01:24:48   And I tweeted about it [TS]

01:24:50   and that made me think oh sixty symbols is getting close to five hundred thousand as well I'm going to have a look [TS]

01:24:55   and I went and looked and I had passed five hundred thousand the day before yesterday as we record. And I hadn't even. [TS]

01:25:01   I didn't even know I hadn't looked at the number of asylum but I didn't even know I write [TS]

01:25:04   and that would have been something in the old days that you know you make a video about an song and dance and. [TS]

01:25:09   I didn't even notice happened. You'd be aware of it weeks ahead of time trying to play. [TS]

01:25:13   Something for exactly launch like the mile of Pi video which was for the million subscribers on number while like you [TS]

01:25:21   you. Orchestrated the whole team of people to pull off a big stunt for a million for a number file. And yeah it's. [TS]

01:25:29   I think this is how you think about you do it for a million. [TS]

01:25:31   I'd still do it for a million on the other channels as well because a million. Is such a nice number. [TS]

01:25:35   But a million is a nice number it's an impressive sounding number [TS]

01:25:38   but I know I know from speaking to other people that they have that even even now crossing the million number feels a [TS]

01:25:48   bit like a not like a a huge victory even slightly hollow victory because of the way. [TS]

01:25:53   You Tube does some of the subscriber stuff like it's just it's not they just doesn't feel the same like it used to be [TS]

01:26:00   like a hike or AN Yway I just thought it was interesting to see that You Tube. [TS]

01:26:04   Still wants people to focus on that number. [TS]

01:26:08   But I think You Tube's other actions conflict with that you're going to get a diamond button. [TS]

01:26:13   What's your closest to the diamond of the number file a number of miles away from that. Now. [TS]

01:26:20   You can put the diamond button above your five silver buttons. Of what they have thirty C. [TS]

01:26:23   Of about and before I get to a diamond. Would you what you could have in your office is a big pyramid. [TS]

01:26:28   A huge number of this is over buttons. A smaller row of gold buttons and at the top a diamond button. Yeah. [TS]

01:26:35   That's what you'll have little pyramid in your office. If I get to ten million I'll sit in the last one. [TS]

01:26:41   Just so just because I want to see it I look like of course you can see what they look like on the video. [TS]

01:26:45   Does not watch the video. If he thinks different relax and I also don't think it's made out of real diamond. [TS]

01:26:51   He's disappointed. Now. And it's really big like all of the. Trophies. [TS]

01:26:56   Are comically awkwardly he who teach the super battens aren't comically big or really I've never seen one [TS]

01:27:03   and then real. In real life. They're trying to think that they're smaller than like an IMAX screen. [TS]

01:27:13   And you still have those above your fireplace. Know they're in boxes and have in another right now. [TS]

01:27:19   I mean I don't think. I don't think I'm going to put them out. [TS]

01:27:22   And obviously Marco but he's in America so I think that either you and you know. You know where the Go button is. [TS]

01:27:27   I didn't know where the gold button. Say it. [TS]

01:27:30   Say are you say it's at the spiritual home of number file etc which is where the. [TS]

01:27:36   The mathematical research institutes in San Francisco math medical science three Sciences Research Institute. S. and S. [TS]

01:27:44   Our I am Sri. But I did like hearing you say spirit you have never thought that to Slayer are very for you. [TS]

01:27:52   It does it taste like it is it is it to me Perry like. So this all these things still we haven't talked about. [TS]

01:28:02   OK listen. This is be clear here. [TS]

01:28:03   We can't possibly talk about all of the things that are in our in our notes here we just have a bazillion things. Yeah. [TS]

01:28:10   We've already been recording for a long time. Granted a huge section of this was just nonsense. [TS]

01:28:16   I'm trying to fix what's what. What section of what was it not with was catching your eye. [TS]

01:28:22   I don't think you want to talk about a lie and. What line. The killing of the lion. [TS]

01:28:29   I do not know this man has not been one of the biggest stories or last couple of weeks. Join Tell me about it. [TS]

01:28:36   What is it someone to the line. Yeah basically. Is this american dentist. Who's like into trophy hunting. [TS]

01:28:45   You know one of these guys he pays. Big money to go to Africa or and kill an animal. [TS]

01:28:50   Right have his picture taken with that so they can feel big basically. [TS]

01:28:54   And I'm sure he would have gone on quite happily in obscurity doing this for the rest of these days. [TS]

01:28:59   Except he went to sin Bob way. [TS]

01:29:02   And the line that he shot with his like his mind is that set it up for him [TS]

01:29:07   and it up being this famous celebrity line everyone loves in the National Park and had an Oxford University. [TS]

01:29:14   Tracking device on and stuff. So it became this huge story that the line. Got shot. [TS]

01:29:20   And then he got revealed as the guy who shot her. [TS]

01:29:22   Wait wait whoa I am so confused already by the story of back up for a second. OK. OK. First of all. Number one. [TS]

01:29:30   Is it legal to go hunt lions in Africa. Because it's a thing you can legally do. Yes. [TS]

01:29:35   We have enough lines that this is not a problem. Well that's down. There are so that question isn't necessarily Yes. [TS]

01:29:42   OK. But it is legal. OK. Down in certain way. OK better this is look this is not like rhino hunting. [TS]

01:29:48   I where there's no legal place you can pay money to shoot a rhino. [TS]

01:29:52   You know there are a number to my there are legal places you can hunt lines and Zimbabwe is one of them. [TS]

01:29:58   But it turns out this was not done legally. [TS]

01:30:00   Right because that are around like they were in some national park there yet will apparently they Lou it out of the [TS]

01:30:06   National Park shot of that saw the National Park. [TS]

01:30:08   But they live it out by say they put like a dead carcass on the back of a car. [TS]

01:30:12   And then the line comes along and says Oh that looks good. [TS]

01:30:16   And there's [TS]

01:30:17   and then there's they're walking the line into this guy's site billion people are basically the Sherpas of the hunter [TS]

01:30:22   yelled. [TS]

01:30:23   And then this big brave this big brave dentist used a crossbow I belief to shoot this line that was just sniffing along [TS]

01:30:30   for some third right. [TS]

01:30:32   The By the by this guy then got exposed as the guy who did a man has become like the most hated man in America right. [TS]

01:30:40   And he's gone into hiding and people are protesting outside his dental surgery [TS]

01:30:44   and the people in Africa has been taken to court in his talks about extraditing this guy. [TS]

01:30:49   And it's been this hoping Palapa to really interesting story. Which I was going to ask you you thought about. [TS]

01:30:55   But as on the one telling you about. As you're literally the first time I'm hearing about it. Yeah. [TS]

01:31:03   There's probably not a great do for me to ask you. I mean I you know I you know Mayor. [TS]

01:31:10   I don't like internet witch hunts and lynch mobs. [TS]

01:31:14   And this guy has been like the child's Lilian and multiple different Weiss. [TS]

01:31:19   And yet you also know I really love animals and. I'm really really struggling to muster up. Any sympathy for this guy. [TS]

01:31:29   Because. And all these other pictures of nap come out of him. Shooting other animals. All around the world. [TS]

01:31:35   You know he speaks killed every love the animal you can think of and art and I. I just think this trophy hunting. [TS]

01:31:44   Luck ought. I don't want people hunting and. You know there are sometimes are good reasons for hunting. [TS]

01:31:52   But just killing a line say you can say you kill the line and all you're doing is just what. [TS]

01:31:57   It's just walking into a clearing. And you just getting an easy shot anyway. [TS]

01:32:01   Like it's not it's not like he got thrown into a cage with a line and wrestled to the ground and I became a sub. [TS]

01:32:07   It's not even like he did. That would be bad too but at least. [TS]

01:32:10   At least he would be like he would have done an amazing thing to have gotten his Lionhead exactness gotten it. [TS]

01:32:16   This gotten even to an amazing thing that. [TS]

01:32:18   That's all that's always my feeling about this kind of hunting is you go to an exotic location to kill in the exotic [TS]

01:32:25   animal. I always feel like I am not impressed. Unless you did it with your bare hands. [TS]

01:32:29   If you did it with your bare hands. You know what you still should be killed that thing but at least I'm impressed. [TS]

01:32:35   When you're. You know you have. You have minders setting it up for you you're using a ranged weapon. [TS]

01:32:41   If I couldn't be more unimpressed with what you have done. And you haven't done a good thing. [TS]

01:32:46   There's no overpopulation problem. All around. Thumbs down. Every man's me of one of my favorite far side. [TS]

01:32:55   Comics which is the. You know Far Side by our course of Korea. [TS]

01:33:00   And it's the one where there's the the grizzly bear live we keep Chris the best is have it lapping up some water from a [TS]

01:33:06   little pond. [TS]

01:33:07   And as a hunter behind a bush that basically shoots in the back and then like photos I have a dead [TS]

01:33:12   or sad was drinking water. And then it cuts to the next shot and it's him in his den. [TS]

01:33:16   With the stuffed bear in like this angry pose. Acting it out or I was just said you know that's about right. So anyway. [TS]

01:33:27   This Morton. Ability we have to sort of publicly shame and lynch someone. I don't always like but. [TS]

01:33:35   Discussion on the and. As I said I'm struggling to feel sorry for this guy. Yeah. I'm with you on on the lynch mobs. [TS]

01:33:44   On the on the last autumn will add that I did I recommended that book. [TS]

01:33:47   So you have been publicly shamed by Ron Johnson who's a author in London I believe. Which is. [TS]

01:33:54   I think everybody who spends any time on the Internet should read that book. [TS]

01:33:58   It's a it's a really interesting book about how the lynch mobs. Form and. I am. [TS]

01:34:05   I am very sympathetic to people saying dumb things or wandering into situations [TS]

01:34:13   and then the Internet just vastly over react to what's going on I think those are those are complicated situations in [TS]

01:34:20   which it's important to try and think about other people in in the full spectrum of their complexity. [TS]

01:34:26   But I'm going to say at least from the version of this that you have told me. [TS]

01:34:30   I don't have the same kind of who let's be cautious. Oh. You know what about the person feeling in this story. [TS]

01:34:37   Because it's someone who has gone way out of their way with a lot of effort to do with thing. [TS]

01:34:43   That is of no value to anybody. [TS]

01:34:46   So that that's why I feel like you know if there's a if there's some kind of big public reaction to it. OK. [TS]

01:34:53   It may be out of proportion but I'm also having a hard time caring about a person who does that. [TS]

01:35:00   Because you mentioned audiobooks. Let me have one more little quick topic. OK. [TS]

01:35:05   Because this has been a moment ago and I want to ask it at because I know you have bit of an audiobook afficionado. [TS]

01:35:13   I turned this into a fiction already. Books that I have dangerous lightly and. I want to talk to the. [TS]

01:35:22   The people who read them to voice people who do audio books. I know you pay attention to this. This book on. [TS]

01:35:28   Listening to. It's a Stephen King book it's the one about the J.F.K. Assassination thing. [TS]

01:35:34   It's called because in American date format. I always get and I'm wrong. [TS]

01:35:38   I'm leaning around the microphone I'm literally in a room where I can see it on the wall right now. [TS]

01:35:42   So my parents were collection. Yeah. Stephen King It is eleven twenty two sixty three. So they guy. [TS]

01:35:49   I recommended in the last all of that I think has a cast of characters. Of all types. Men women. [TS]

01:36:00   People with different accents people of different races all sorts. And the guy. Reading it. [TS]

01:36:08   Whose name I don't know puts on voices for all the different characters are showing this is normal in order books to to [TS]

01:36:16   sort of to have a voice for different characters. Yep and. Yep particularly in. Yes. Most of the time. He's quite good. [TS]

01:36:25   What good does quite a good New England accent which yes to qualify he has to a few famous people like you had to do [TS]

01:36:31   J.F.K. In Africa get him quite well too. That's got to be hard though those are I was there and anyway. [TS]

01:36:38   That bothered by it the thing is there's also talk of not going to any spoilers. [TS]

01:36:45   But I don't think it's spoiling to say there's like a. [TS]

01:36:48   There's a very mess in the book and there's a woman who's a car has a romance with. And it turns out. [TS]

01:36:57   This seems like a trivial fact I think it's contributing to our problem [TS]

01:37:00   and turns out the woman he has this relationship is is quite tall. Just part of the story that she's quite tall woman. [TS]

01:37:07   Anyway this guy. Voices the woman. [TS]

01:37:11   And I have real problems with that s'posed to be read man to can you suppose to face understand the chemistry between [TS]

01:37:18   them and feel the love in the right Manson. Be engaged in this plot bond. Of this romance. [TS]

01:37:24   But it just sounds like a man doing a woman's voice. [TS]

01:37:29   And because she's told it makes it even harder for me I just imagine. I imagine the character. [TS]

01:37:35   As a man dressed up as a woman. And. And it makes the whole of story. Completely unbelievable to me. [TS]

01:37:43   Hannah engage with a love story because a magine in him in bed with the kissing or having these deep [TS]

01:37:50   and meaningful conversations between my main character. [TS]

01:37:53   And this like men dressed as a woman with a big Adam's apple and a dodgy Wigan and. It's it's really. [TS]

01:38:02   Detracting from the book. Slightly for me. [TS]

01:38:04   So that aspect of the book I'm still really engaged in [TS]

01:38:07   and I'm actually going to lose it because I'm really enjoying a sense epically longs that must be good [TS]

01:38:11   but I'm just wondering where you stand on that how do you feel about these people putting on voices. Because it can. [TS]

01:38:18   They can make or break in order to acquire magine without a doubt it can make or break. [TS]

01:38:23   An audiobook is specially fiction. How well. Someone does the voices. [TS]

01:38:30   And the situation that you are talking about is something I've run across a bunch [TS]

01:38:35   and I I was just as you were talking I was trying to think about what my brain does [TS]

01:38:38   and I realize oh I know what happens here is when you have a male narrator who has to do a woman's voice. [TS]

01:38:46   And every male. Narrator. I don't know how to describe it. [TS]

01:38:52   But they all do the same thing when they're doing the woman's voice which is. [TS]

01:38:59   I'm going to say just the making their voice. Breath a year and. Slightly. [TS]

01:39:08   But not really high pitched like oh kind of gone with the when I read Butler sort of the piece to my P.T. God. [TS]

01:39:16   Yeah that kind of thing and. I guess I guess the key point that I'm trying to make here is. [TS]

01:39:22   For example you mention that in this book in particular someone is trying to do. J.F.K. Like a man trying to do J.F.K. [TS]

01:39:32   As the narrator will try to. If not sound like J.F.K. Certainly capture something about the way J.F.K. Speaks. [TS]

01:39:43   But Mel narrators doing women's voice. VOICES. They do this same thing which is not remotely sounding like a woman. [TS]

01:39:53   No woman sounds like the way. Male narrators make a woman sound when they read a book. Yeah. And. [TS]

01:40:01   I think I never really thought about it but whenever I listen to an audiobook that has this happen. [TS]

01:40:06   The first time the male narrator does a female voice. I feel uncomfortable. Is I got here we go. [TS]

01:40:12   But very quickly my brain just accept and says Well. [TS]

01:40:16   We're just going to pretend that this is what this is what this sounds like you say you suspend disbelief. [TS]

01:40:22   I always think of when I watch the old Twilight Zone episode which I really like they have terrible. Special effects. [TS]

01:40:29   Because it was made in the one nine hundred fifty S. With absolutely no money. The special effects are awful. [TS]

01:40:34   But there's so awful every time I'm watching the Twilight Zone. [TS]

01:40:38   I'm aware that my brain treats it like it's a stage play. [TS]

01:40:42   That there's a whole different level of expectation for how good the special effects are supposed to be. [TS]

01:40:47   And on a stage play. If someone comes on with a ridiculous. Fake. I am the middle of their head or fake. [TS]

01:40:53   Arms [TS]

01:40:54   or antenna sticking out their heads you just think well of course is not going to look real because it's a stage play [TS]

01:40:59   and you just kind of go along with it. [TS]

01:41:01   And so I think without without even having really consciously thought about it before I go along with the mail [TS]

01:41:08   or audiobook narrators doing this thing that sounds nothing like a woman. Almost because they're there. [TS]

01:41:14   They sound so different from a woman that it's like oh wait. [TS]

01:41:18   We have to go to a whole different level of suspending disbelief. To make this work. [TS]

01:41:23   And it somehow somehow is fine in my mind. [TS]

01:41:26   I was going to say to you what's the solution like that you don't need a solution because of what you just said. [TS]

01:41:31   But I wonder you know. [TS]

01:41:33   I guess you can't a man can a man be better sounding like a woman or a knife [TS]

01:41:37   or do you not do it to have a separate narrator. There are two possible solutions. [TS]

01:41:41   The first of which is that a man could attempt the better to mimic the actual sounds of a woman like the way a woman's [TS]

01:41:49   voice sounds. [TS]

01:41:50   But I would bet there's a reason that I've never heard a male narrator do that because you probably run into an uncanny [TS]

01:41:58   valley situation where even if you are quite good at. Imitating a woman's voice. You're not perfect. [TS]

01:42:04   And it just sounds even worse. Because then again your level of expectation is higher. [TS]

01:42:09   And so the failure becomes more stark. Than if you just a listen to me this is a woman's voice which it isn't. [TS]

01:42:17   But we're all just going to pretend that it is. So that's one option. [TS]

01:42:22   The second option is to try to bring in different narrators bring in an actual woman to do the woman's dialogue [TS]

01:42:29   and this is a problem with books where. When I'm listening to fiction. [TS]

01:42:34   Very very rarely I can actually think of one example. Do fiction books sound better when you have a cast. Doing them. [TS]

01:42:43   Niggas Usually I actually just find it very disruptive somehow. [TS]

01:42:47   Because it near in the mode of someone's reading you a book and then they switch over to. [TS]

01:42:52   Here is a character speaking and we have brought in an actor to do this character [TS]

01:42:56   and suddenly it's like oh whoa Right right. I'm not actually being read a book by somebody. [TS]

01:43:00   You know there's a bunch of people sitting in a room around microphones and. [TS]

01:43:03   I find it very disturbing when that happens. I just yeah I can imagine it would take you out to you out of a nightclub. [TS]

01:43:10   Yeah it's every time it's disturbing. [TS]

01:43:13   When you switch to someone you're not expecting it and I say that just for people ask. [TS]

01:43:17   The only example that I can think of off the top of my head that is really good. Is the His Dark Materials. [TS]

01:43:23   Series by Philip Pullman. They did a version of that with a full cast. And that is a magnificent. [TS]

01:43:32   Series of audiobooks to listen to with the full cast. [TS]

01:43:36   But I think it's in no small part because there is because of the structure of the way the story works. That every. [TS]

01:43:44   Basically every person in the story has a little animal that they're always talking to because there's constant [TS]

01:43:50   dialogue there there's never ever a long section where the narrator is talking to you [TS]

01:43:56   and you can slip into that mode of. Dialogue between two characters. And since it happens all the time. [TS]

01:44:05   I think you can treat that as a as a different mode. So I think there really is there is really no solution to this. [TS]

01:44:12   I don't like cast of characters in books. Normally. [TS]

01:44:16   And I think trying to do a more convincing impression can actually possibly be worse. [TS]

01:44:22   I say it was like all of those sponsoring this episode. [TS]

01:44:25   I don't know of a lot of the sponsoring this episode look at the. Because I've done well today. [TS]

01:44:30   I want to go down night is Dark Materials softer this. Yeah. [TS]

01:44:34   Are you going to be mad if they're not so fond saying. [TS]

01:44:36   and how are you going to feel if they're not sponsoring in Mamata on as long as papal stories echoed or U.R.L. [TS]

01:44:42   There is no Autobytel spawn air for this one. [TS]

01:44:45   Of course a little the listeners already know that we don't know because this is at the very end. [TS]

01:44:50   They are ready know that our sponsors were Harry's Bakley than however. Thanks guys. [TS]

01:44:55   But again not audible this time it was into His Dark Materials. Very good yeah. [TS]

01:45:00   And to use arrow it will link even night I didn't want it because I'm sure the sponsors again say that you have a [TS]

01:45:05   little bit of a little bit afraid of it. Yeah. Yeah they sponsored in the future. So it tiny bit of free love. [TS]

01:45:12   I have one thing Brady he might want to not do this I'll just I'll just throw this and [TS]

01:45:16   but I have a potential homework suggestion if you want to do this show my homework suggestion [TS]

01:45:25   and hope I can feel reasonably comfortable suggesting this because I know you have already done the homework. [TS]

01:45:30   And you don't like doing the homework. You would be the Martian. I don't know. Yes the book. [TS]

01:45:36   I don't know the author of that book by Andy where there we go. I recently read this and I'm not a huge discussion. [TS]

01:45:45   But I thought we could have a little bit of a discussion on the. Action. Next time if you wanted. [TS]

01:45:50   And so I thought yeah people a heads up this time. If they want to read the book. [TS]

01:45:54   Between now and who knows when the next hello internet comes out. OK. [TS]

01:45:59   Well that's good I have read it so far I've got my homework. [TS]

01:46:03   If I can pick topic there you've already done your homework you're much more amenable to homework is that the letters [TS]

01:46:07   of apparatus. Is there is the way forward. Did you did you read it Tex or did you audiobook it. [TS]

01:46:13   I read it on the airplane as it was where I read it. I read I want to buy flights. [TS]

01:46:17   Oh you know what we didn't talk about what. [TS]

01:46:19   I just want to quickly mention this just in case there's a basically a lot of people have been messaging me about [TS]

01:46:26   cricket. Obviously there's this big cricket series happening. And moment between Australia and England. [TS]

01:46:32   Which means a lot to a strategy an English paper. Right and as of today. For the record. [TS]

01:46:37   England won the series and have very convincingly. And. Have you know. [TS]

01:46:42   Humiliated my strategy in time which is always terrible but anyway. That spore sorry Brady. Yes. [TS]

01:46:49   But amazingly gray head Sammy Agreed although I was I was still a little bit in doubt that he pretty much agreed to [TS]

01:46:58   come to it to come to a day of the cricket with me. I had totally agreed to the Brady law. [TS]

01:47:03   No doubt about it the only doubt about this was in your mind. Now. [TS]

01:47:07   Because I think you knew you were going to make it back. Anyway. So anyway. This is by the by. [TS]

01:47:11   This is by the by Greg I don't know if not by the by you just don't want to blow passes [TS]

01:47:15   and yet I'm putting it on the record now. [TS]

01:47:18   I want to go to a cricket game with you yet rate your day right there any you have a fun day out. [TS]

01:47:24   And I want to do this. It's happening. This is this is why I'm bringing it up right let me finish. OK OK. [TS]

01:47:30   I have in my hand actually at tickets for the cricket. We were going to go to the cricket. Tomorrow. [TS]

01:47:37   Well actually today because it's just gone didn't I attempt to day Sunday the not of August of two tickets for a seat [TS]

01:47:44   to sit in the red clay flower stand together we were going to day and rode Jerry. [TS]

01:47:48   The seats six hundred to one hundred three. But because of strictly lost so convincingly. [TS]

01:47:55   This game that was supposed to last five days. Only lasted two and a little bit days. [TS]

01:48:02   So this game isn't even happening that that's the understanding. [TS]

01:48:05   So not only can gray not come because he got stuck in America. [TS]

01:48:09   Because we stand by flies but he says he hadn't got stuck in America. [TS]

01:48:12   We would have been going to be because the crickets not our side. [TS]

01:48:16   So having finally got a great a greater come to the cricket. Two things conspired against. And so. [TS]

01:48:24   So great definitely can come. Both that both of which were complete and utter deal breakers. [TS]

01:48:30   Now if great happens to get this pod cast up quickly enough. [TS]

01:48:34   And you happen to have two tickets to the fifth Test match. At The Oval. In London. So very easy for grey. [TS]

01:48:43   And you want to make them available to all perils. Brady and gray. So I can take him to that cricket. [TS]

01:48:50   Drop me a name out preferably we would prefer corporate hospitality appox food drink. [TS]

01:48:56   Our sort of thing where we're in a blue. [TS]

01:48:58   What do you sign when it when is this what are you signing up for I don't even know what. [TS]

01:49:01   When is this thing where you talking Well this is the fifth. [TS]

01:49:04   The final match between Australia and England which is now a dead rubber because Strider for serious [TS]

01:49:08   but I still play at number. OK. A dead at a game that means nothing because the series copy one. England late. [TS]

01:49:15   England later series three one. But there's a limit to do it. OK. [TS]

01:49:19   They still in America they don't play in other sports they quite often was to play croquet it starts on the twentieth [TS]

01:49:25   of August. So you get ages. OK. The twentieth of August. Almost certainly help me but my back with a long time. [TS]

01:49:33   But every really I'll be back with a toy. It Out out out that the game. [TS]

01:49:36   But no more tickets are sold out my budget but just. [TS]

01:49:40   You're hoping that among among the third gins mice and humans and people home crews boats and Air Force One assistance. [TS]

01:49:51   And I'm hypo become parachutist at everyone [TS]

01:49:55   and I think what I'm really hoping for is a really really rich accountant who has a corporate box right. [TS]

01:50:01   Who calls up and says Oh yeah. [TS]

01:50:02   We've got champagne and caviar and in area conditions way and you can come up and watch cricket and. [TS]

01:50:07   That does sound pretty good. That sounds pretty good if you are a wealthy accountants. [TS]

01:50:12   We can to piggyback off of like bombs like apathy. Yeah. And join your sports box. That a pirate box. There. [TS]

01:50:21   That sounds that sounds pretty good. And watch watch the cricket is whack that shuttlecock all around the. [TS]

01:50:26   Yeah record failed. Sounds great. If now would go to another critic and another time. [TS]

01:50:34   Someday I will go to a cricket game with you. There's no doubt about that. [TS]

01:50:37   Of the epic quest The other question is what to do with these tickets. [TS]

01:50:40   I mean bit of a fund raising for charity murders and I mean there's reasons. And I'm thinking. [TS]

01:50:46   Two tickets for Brady and grey to go to the cricket together. To watch the ashes. [TS]

01:50:51   That never happened because a stray Leo lost the Ashes and broke my heart broke my heart. [TS]

01:50:58   I think there are English cricket fans that would get some pleasure from happening that he's signed by if I was going [TS]

01:51:03   to say you need to sign one. And I sign the other one. Yeah and you need to sign it like along the lines of. [TS]

01:51:09   Dear Brady I'm sorry strata lost the. I'm sorry the Australian cricket is lost the Ashes. OK. OK I'll sign that. [TS]

01:51:16   I think I could. I think we could probably raise more money for for cancer research and hospice care. OK. [TS]

01:51:25   Doing that then I would get from sending these tickets back. You want to put these up on on e Bay for hospice. [TS]

01:51:32   Stroke cancer research charity fund raising. On the thinking. [TS]

01:51:36   I'm thinking and like say any any cricket fans who because I know cricket fans get great pleasure from my pain. [TS]

01:51:43   This is a chance to own it for ever so I see I.C.C. You're thinking. [TS]

01:51:48   You're thinking this is an even better thing for English cricket fans. I get it. [TS]

01:51:53   It's the it's the ultimate pace of sports memorabilia. [TS]

01:51:56   A critic tickets on by a guy who knows absolutely nothing about it [TS]

01:52:00   and a guy who loves the strategy of it this was his his take on losing say. [TS]

01:52:05   I feel like you have dragged me on board this crazy train of yours with all of these auctions because every time you [TS]

01:52:10   have one of these auctions I think. No one's going to buy this thing would you end up you end up. [TS]

01:52:15   You know you sending stuff to my house to sign the Getting Things Done book and some other stuff [TS]

01:52:18   and I was like a camper leave these are always the accessible. [TS]

01:52:21   And so now I feel like I've been pulled into your reality distortion matrix here and thinkin. Yeah. [TS]

01:52:28   These are totally worthless tickets me. We we can reason some money for charity. I think a cricket ticket son by said. [TS]

01:52:36   I see value in that. [TS]

01:52:38   And it's kind of like this line that kind of like the scariest tickets now because no no no they're not curse they're [TS]

01:52:44   not cursed don't let me tell you why they know they're not sure that you're reducing the value to their cursed is like [TS]

01:52:51   you're putting up a monkey father auction now. [TS]

01:52:53   Nah I'm increasing the value because they like to have their like that Tripoli cast. [TS]

01:52:59   Because this was the Test match where strategy lost the Ashes. [TS]

01:53:02   This was the day you were supposed to come to that you didn't come to because the test was over. Right and and. [TS]

01:53:08   It was the day you didn't come to a cause if you stupid Cheetos standby tickets. OK so we're all in. [TS]

01:53:18   If you want Tripoli cursed. Cricket tickets. Can buy us live in the description. Yeah yeah. Or or. [TS]

01:53:27   If the links not in the description because I haven't got my act together in time then. [TS]

01:53:45   Are you want to stop what they're doing on hang on one last thing you listening. OK you listening. [TS]

01:53:51   Now I had I literally had my mouth hovering about right. But and right. She is a snake. OK. [TS]
